Digital - Photo-manipulation.

I liked this version as a piece of art, but I had to agree with the producers that it seemed to imply this was an undersea movie like The Abyss or 20,000 Leagues, and that was definitely not the case. There's a water theme, yes - the main character is still haunted by her sister's drowning death many years ago - but there's no scuba diving or submarines, and virtually no underwater scenes at all.

20,000 Leagues Below....
A naturally curious creature, this octopus is exploring the sides of a marine vessel while holding her found-treasure from the depths below: a human skull. The entire piece is 3-dimensional from the barnacles on the side of the strange underwater ship, to the golden eyes of the octopus....and every single little sucker on her winding tentacles.

This is one entire piece of a shatter-proof ceramic-like clay, hand sculpted and painted by myself. The framing around the scene is textured to look like a hammered antique gold, while the scene is finished in a metallic pale peridot green with gold accents and an ivory-colored skull. The entire piece is aged with a stain.

The back is painted to look like a glossy wood finish (see last image). Both sides are treated with multiple layers of sealer, as to help it hold up to repeated wearing and to protect the paint from harsh UV rays. It is chained at either side with a beautifully aged clasp, with small brass and silver colored clock hands freely hanging. The chaining is an antiqued brass color.

The piece measures at about 7" across, so it fits as a large bib-style neck piece. It wears as approximately a 22.5" necklace (About 8" of chain is attached to each side of the sculpture.)

Fox wanted to spend a little quality time with Chibikit, Majokka and Lily and had a idea. He and Krystal gathered the girls to the Holodeck and had set to look like Captain Nemo's Parlor from the Nautalis in "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea". Soon Fox had the girls gathered at the huge pipeorgan and Fox started playing a few tunes from his days in the Lylat System. It wasn't long before the girls caught on and started singing along with Fox.

Krystal couldn't help being touched watching this scene which has Fox becoming a father figure to these girls.

"One day we'll have our own family," she thought. "And I can see that he is going to be a wonderful father." Then Krystal joins the others in their sing-a-long.

A Venoan Rifleman of the Army of the Serene Republic in 34 IA. The Army of the Serene Republic is one of two branches of the Venoan Military, the other being the Navy. Of the two, it is the smaller, being limited to some 20,000 soldiers. The bulk of Venoa's military manpower are raised privately, these forces are raised by members of the Patrician Class (wealthy merchants and land owners who's position comes from their wealth and the lands they own rather than titles), villages and the various guilds as part of their civic duty. Most of these fighting men are trained, equipped and drilled, but spend most of the time working at normal jobs. The Army of the Serene Republic by contrast is a standing one, always ready for action. The Army of the Serene Republic is an elite fighting force and it's soldiers are recruited from the most capable soldiers which others in Venoa have raised. Being asked to join the Army of the Serene Republic is seen as a honor and the villages, guilds and patricians which train men good enough to be employed boast about the number that they have provided to the Army. Well equipped, well trained, well paid and with a strong esprit de corps, they are a formidable force respected and feared.

Venoa was among the first states to adopt firearms, for the last four centuries Venoan soldiers had fought using arquebuses and eventually wheel locks. When the Rifle Wars began, Venoa was quick to make the transition thanks to an abundance of gunsmiths, a network of spies which stole blueprints for manufacturing equipment, an eager body of inventors and artificers up to the task of designing and building machines when necessary and a willingness to adopt standardize parts. The Venoese were keen on being able to match Infrastructural weapons technology. As such, by late 33IA the Army of the Serene Republic had adopted DiAgnellio's 3rd Breech Loading Rifle as their standard service rifle, the first non Infrastructural cartridge firing rifle that has seen large scale adoption. In addition to that, each rifleman in the Army of the Serene League is issued with a runic breastplate. These articles of magically enhanced armor can take a hit or two from a Type-3R rifle, though they cost between two to three times the price of a conventional breastplate. In addition, a Helmet, Vambraces and Grieves are issued, though these are simply steel items. For close combat, each soldier is issued with both a bayonet and a sword.

Conseil (played by Peter Lorre) from Disney's 1954 film, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea for the #Disney-club good guys collab.
My sister drew Ned Land, so she asked me to draw Conseil, and I was all too happy to. ^.^

Surprisingly, even though I really like Peter Lorre, I've only seen him in a few films (this one, Arsenic and Old Lace, and M). I'd love to find some more of his that're worth a watch.

Anyway! I put an octopus in the jar for now, but in the final piece I'm going to put a different Disney fish of some sort in there (Flounder, Nemo, Sebastian? One of those guys)

Alright. I'm goin a bit crazy with the housebroke bit but i was thinkin' last night that we never did sprites or anythin like that SO!
MOBYSPRITE! CAME TO BE!
The story behind mobysprite is that Clause had this kernel sprite following him around everyone and he was gettin incredibly annoyed by it so he stormed up into his library of a room and was reaching for his 20,000 Leagues under the Sea Novel hoping to throw it at the kernel sprite and get a Captain Nemo Sprite out of it but instead he grabbed Moby Dick by accident and threw that at the sprite and got MobySprite out of the whole exchange.
So TADA! Clause's first annoyed outburst.
His second is comin up soon. I came up with that part last night too ;D

The Transporter Bridge

The Transporter Bridge or Tees Transporter Bridge is the furthest downstream bridge across the River Tees, England. It connects Middlesbrough, on the south bank, to Port Clarence, on the north bank. It is a transporter bridge, carrying a travelling 'car', or 'gondola', suspended from the bridge, across the river in 90 seconds. The gondola can carry 200 people, 9 cars, or 6 cars and one minibus. It carries the A178 Middlesbrough to Hartlepool road. Locally the bridge is simply known as the Transporter.

The Riverside Stadium is a football stadium in Middlesbrough, England, which has been the home of Middlesbrough F.C. since it opened in 1995. Its current capacity is 34,988 all seated, although there is provisional planning permission in place to expand that to 42,000 if required. The stadium was built to replace Ayresome Park after the Taylor Report, which required all top division football stadia to be all-seater. After the report was delivered in January 1990, Middlesbrough needed an all-seater stadium by August 1994, and were unable to expand Ayresome Park outwards owing to its location in a residential area, and expanding the stadium upwards would have limited the club to a capacity of around 20,000 seats - the club wanted a considerably larger capacity. The decision was taken by club officials to build a new stadium; Teesside Development Corporation offered them the Middlehaven site by the River Tees for development. The new 30,000 seater stadium was constructed by Taylor Woodrow Construction for £16 million, taking 32 weeks to complete after work began in the autumn of 1994. The name of the stadium was chosen by the club's fans, following a vote during the final game at Ayresome Park. The other choices available were Middlehaven Stadium, Erimus Stadium and Teesside Stadium. When first opened, the name was amended to Cellnet Riverside Stadium (and then BT Cellnet Riverside Stadium) as part of a £3 million sponsorship deal with Cellnet, but this deal ended after the 2001–02 season. The first game was played against Chelsea in front of a 28,286 crowd (the highest home attendance in 14 years) on 26 August 1995. Middlesbrough won the game 2–0, with Craig Hignett taking the honour of scoring the first ever goal at the stadium, Jan Åge Fjørtoft scoring the second. Their first season at their new stadium was also their first back in the FA Premier League following promotion after two seasons away. In their second season at the Riverside Stadium, Middlesbrough were runners-up in both of the domestic cups but a points deduction in the league meant that they were relegated from the Premier League. In 1998 – when Middlesbrough were promoted back to the Premier League at the first attempt – the capacity was increased by 5,000 by filling in the north and south west corners at a cost of £5 million. This expansion gave the stadium its current 35,000 capacity.

The River Tees in northern England rises on the eastern slope of Cross Fell in the North Pennines, and flows eastwards for 85 miles (137 km) to reach the North Sea between Hartlepool and Redcar near to Middlesbrough

The Dock Clock & Water Tower The original tower was built by John Middleton in 1847, only three sides of the clock tower have a face because they were erected by subscription and its said the businesses on the blank side didn’t want their workers clockwatching. After numerous redesigns of the docks, the current tower is said to date from around 1870, it doubled as a water tower to maintaining water pressure in the dock gates.

Temenos.. created by the artist Anish Kapoor, is a series of giant hoops and wires which float above the dockland area of Middlesbrough. It is more than 100 metres long and the hope is that it will change the image of one of Britain's bleakest industrial landscapes.

Tuxedo Royale ..TSS Dover, (later the Earl Siward, Sol Express and now the Tuxedo Royale), is a British built turbine steamship. Built in 1965 as a roll-on/roll-off (RORO) ferry, she spent much of her later life as a one of the permanently moored Tuxedo floating nightclubs before being stored out of use, latterly on the River Tees in Middlesbrough. TSS Dover was built on the River Tyne in England by Swan Hunter in Wallsend, Tyne and Wear. She was launched on 17 March 1965 and completed by June 1965. In 1977 she was renamed Earl Siward, and again in 1982 as the Sol Express. In 1993 she became the nightclub the Tuxedo Royale. Sadly she is now in a sorry state of disrepair and can be seen listing below the bridge where she awaits a decision by her owners as to what will be her fate.

i finished the book 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne and it's my favorite book. <3 ever

so this is how i envisioned Captain Nemo. The book never went into great detail about what he looked like [or who he was, even] which i'm glad about, it opened doors for your imagination to fill in without ruining the image in your head. None of the characters and even the ship were never really described. However the amount of brilliant detail in explaining places, scenery, and inside the ship was absolutely stunning! i may never read such a masterpiece like it again.

definitely going to draw a fully-painted scene as a tribute.

The Manhunters first appeared in Justice League of America #140 (March 1977).

The Manhunters were the first attempt of the Guardians of the Universe to create an interstellar police force that would combat evil all over the cosmos. Their name and much of their code of behavior was modeled by the Guardians of the Universe on the Manhunters of Ma'aleca'andra (Mars) millions of years ago (This creates an apparent chronology problem, since the Manhunters were created many millions of years ago, while the Green Martian race came into existence from the Burning Martians only about 20,000 years ago). For thousands of years, they served the Guardians well. However, the Manhunters became obsessed with the act of "hunting" criminals. Their code, "No man escapes the Manhunters" (corrupted from the original), became more important to them than seeing justice done.

Eventually, the robots conspired to rebel against their masters, but the Guardians defeated and destroyed most of them. Those that survived hid away on many planets, slowly rebuilding their forces and spreading their beliefs to others. Since then, the over-riding goal of the Manhunters has been to take revenge on the Guardians, as well as on their replacements, the Green Lantern Corps.

When the Manhunters were replaced by the Green Lantern Corps, they retreated to Biot, their homeworld in Sector 3601, an uncharted area of space incapable of sustaining organic life. Hank Henshaw, the Cyborg Superman, came to Biot and became the Manhunters' new Grandmaster. He used his mastery over machinery and Kryptonian technology to upgrade the Manhunters with organic enhancements. They seem to have rebuilt the first Central Power Battery originally destroyed by Hal Jordan (under the influence of Parallax). Henshaw decided not to interfere in the reformation of the Green Lantern Corps after an encounter between a Manhunter and Green Lanterns Hal Jordan and Guy Gardner.

The Manhunters have recently resurfaced as part of the Sinestro Corps. They carry miniature yellow Power Batteries inside them which are used by the Sinestro Corps members to charge their yellow power rings.

This is just a cute picture of Sue Richards wearing a T-shirt that everyone's favorite Blue-Eyed Thing got for her as a gift for her baby shower. Among the other gifts she got that day were a motorized baby carriage from her brother Johnny, designer baby clothes from Janet Van Dyne, a copy of "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" from Hank McCoy (it's what he considers a "kids" book), a Spa Week-end from Jennifer Walters, a week in Tahiti from Tony Stark, and a CD of lullabies from Alison Blaire, but this T-Shirt was by far her favorite. You can now get a similar T-shirt (Only it has "Super" instead of Sue's own personal "Sue-Per") in the Baxter Building's Fantastic 4 gift shop. It's the best seller among women 30-40.

Secret Santa 2012 :: Stitchfan

My gift for *Stitchfan, done for #DisneyDreamers annual Secret Santa project.

I chose to draw up some of *Stitchfan's favorite characters; Jack (Rescuers Down Under), Max (Flight of the Navigator) and Skippy (Alien Encounter).

Pirates of the Caribbean and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea were listed as some of their favorite Disney flicks, so, these characters are on a pirate ship with a kraken/octopus/squid (whichever you wish) carving at the back.

After watching the classic Disney film version of "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" I was inspired. The ultimate result of that inspiration has yet to come to fruition but I'm planning it. As such, the finalization of part of this idea was this:

Based (loosely) on the Nautilus submarine of the film, this is your basic run-of-the-mill wagon. With some serious modification including it being lengthened, the "Runner Spurs" placed on and a wooden and metal support frame for the mostly cardboard ram head and tail cone. In the center is a keyboard, behind which Jonesy sits himself. In front of him are the "Navigator" and the two "Light Men" who use green tinted flashlights to light up the "eyes." The eyes themselves are two halves of a fast-food playpen bubble and are made out of plastic. There is some welding done to the wagon and some nail work, but most of it is held together with duct tape.

As stated in my notes, Jonesy somehow intends on this freeing kids from detention. How? I have no idea, and neither does he.

So I wanted to see if I could make something nice-looking in paint, and about 5 seconds in I gave up and started doodling. I don't even know what the heck that cloud is, I used to draw it on my notebooks back in seventh grade... The mermaid is from the old 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea ride that used to be at Walt Disney World.

I was giong to name it "Abyss" but thought of a better one imo.

This scene popped at random into my head while reading a new (to me, saying a lot as I've read everything) Stephen King book called "Duma Key". A book that doesn't take place in Maine!!! o.o

It reminds me a lot of how he wrote "bag of bones", which I also really loved and which also, coincidentally, had a lot to do with water, and drowned children. Go figure.

I'm about three quarters of the way through the book at the moment, and I just had to stop dead (no pun intended) and draw this. No reference pictures were looked up, it took me all of an hour and a half to do if that, and it came out better than I had imagined.

Not sure how old the girl is supposed to be, you can put your own lid on that. I also decided to make something about her, or what is happening to her, not-quite-right. Hence the blackened veins and the greyed out eyes. Perhaps whatever's dragging her down is toxic.

I really enjoy the hell out of how this came out. Please give feedback!!

A current work in progress for #DisneyDreamers Secret Santa for 2012. It's a little late, I know...

It's of Jack (Rescuers Down Under), Skippy (Alien Encounter) and Max (Flight of the Navigator) going on an adventure on a pirate ship, of sorts.

Some of the recipient's favorite things were Pirates of the Caribbean, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and the ship from the film, the Nautilus.

The pirate ship will be named Nautilus and there's a giant squid/octopus carving on the back.

2012 Art Summary

Happy New Year, everyone~ It's already January 1st where I am, so I thought I'd upload one of those fancy summaries :3

January/February: [link] This picture was actually started in 2011, I believe, and it took me forever to finish because I kept getting stuck on piddly things ><

March: [link] My first and only picture colored with GIMP. Never. Again. Based off of Jules Verne's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

April: [link] No art, just a picture of my cat for the April Fool's "Cat Takeover"

May: [link] Painted in May, posted in June. Part of a mural I helped with at my high school, that I regret to say is now entirely painted over due to close-minded rednecks and people who play sportsball >____>

June: Went on vacation and did NOTHING all month, save the start of my July submission.

July: [link] Only picture I did during my 2012 session and IMC. Felt rushed on it, so I'm not really happy with any of the characters other than Robin.

August: [link] Only noteworthy sketch from my journal in August; Atticus is too thick, but I enjoyed drawing his ribcage o3o

September: [link] Mind the terribly drawn gore. Again, Atticus is too thick, but it was necessary for the inclusion of organs. Inspired by strange discussions in 2D Design and too much Corpse Party.

October: [link] Sketch of my partner for a collage in my 2D Design class.

November: [link] Only notable November sketch; done so quickly and lazily that I ignored the need for hands.

December: [link] Done only a few days ago; my first serious MS Paint piece, but certainly not my last. This is definitely my favorite piece of all the ones I did this year, as it was the ONLY one to come out exactly how I wanted it :3

It's great to look at all these pieces from this year, and see that I actually am getting a little better :3
