This is the painting of my "Girl with Toy Alligator" (Pencil [link]).

Technique: When I read that Titian said, "Svelature, trenta o quaranta!" (glazes, thirty or forty!) I had to try it. I did a light underpainting in black, red, and white. Then I started building up glazes. About mid-point, I covered the entire picture (which was now starting to look finished) with a thin layer of white. Amazing! What pearly colors this produced. Then more glazing of the entire picture with the appropriate colors for skin tone, background, dress and the alligator. I kept count. When finished, this painting consisted of 27 layers. Glazing one layer, scumbling (which is really just a glaze of light over dark, as in my white layer) the next layer--back and forth. This is how the inner glow in her face was achieved.

It took months, in order to allow for each layer to dry. But was it ever worth it!

Albinism is a congenital disorder characterized by the complete or partial absence of pigment in the skin, hair and eyes due to absence or defect of an enzyme involved in the production of melanin. Albinism results from inheritance of recessive gene alleles and is known to affect all vertebrates, including humans.

Only one clutch of albino alligators have ever been found in the wild. In 1987, the clutch containing 18 hatchlings was found in a swamp southwest of New Orleans.
Of those 18 hatchlings, only 12 are still alive. They are currently housed at the Audubon Nature Institute.

In nearly all world folklore, white animals hold special significance, and American folklore is no different.
The Plains Indians such as the Sioux and Pawnee revered the deity known as "White Buffalo Woman"
The Washa tribe of Louisiana regarded a white alligator as a source of good luck. They believed looking into a white alligator's eyes granted you good luck for a year.

Yay! Drawing robots is fun! 8D

This started out as a random Sonic-obsessed doodle of a mechanized alligator, but I gave it more of a backstory as I was drawing it. I figured it would live in the same universe as Cloudy [link] and Basco [link] . Apparently, his iron jaw looks less dorky than Deathwing's. Yay!

It would be set in a future where genetically engineered "vanity" pets were common and starting to mingle with local wildlife, which threatened the survival of the natural species. To counter this, one scientific group opted to mechanically alter a set of the vanity pets to hunt down the rest living in the world. They're themed around the periodic table, such as this Altered Alligator - Fe being Iron.

Fe was originally a bipedal alligator with a parrot's ability to mimic phrases. His legs were then removed and replaced with stiff iron legs that are difficult to walk with. The shoddy prosthetics are rusty and the flesh is starting to bruise and rot around them. His jaw was next to be replaced, by a more competent scientist. As he had originally been bred as a pet, he used to have a deliberately weakened jaw, which the iron jaw makes up for with saber teeth and enhanced strength. After that various modifications were made, such as the cybernetics in his skin that help him to sense his surroundings and the axe-tipped, lashing tail. Obviously Fe can't swim and is extremely slow and heavy, but enhanced intelligence and extreme strength make him a dangerous foe.

Fe would be defeated after his weak legs were damaged beyond repair - as the first of his kind, he is flawed.

This is a test render to show the skin shader I designed for this model. It uses a subsurface light scattering node to simulate semi-translucent material such as skin and flesh.

The shot is also a means of showcasing the anatomy work I did on the character, the initial pass of the model was a bit broader and muscular but was toned down after several review sessions with the client.

Alligator Shoe Salesman

"Can I interest you in a size six... pixie-lover?"

An alligator shoe salesman from Rocko's Modern Christmas. Not a salesman who sells alligator shoes (although in this show I wouldn't put it past them), but an actual alligator who is a shoe salesman at the O-Town mall. Four of these dudes accost a hapless little Christmas elf who wanders into their store, mistaking him for a pixie. And they hate pixies! For... some reason. Luckily, Rocko is able to diffuse the situation despite some initial friction wherein the salesmen think the wallaby is a dirty pixie-lover.

The alligators are all dressed and drawn identically and the only difference between them is their skin colors. Two are different shades of green, the other two are different shades of blue. The character model was reused for the appliance salesman in a later episode, Fatal Contraption.

This guy is specifically based on what I assumed to be the leader of the four. He's the one who actually grabs and shakes the elf, and if memory serves he's also the one who calls Rocko a pixie-lover and threatens to beat him up.

Yes. Beat him up. Although it doesn't come to that, thanks to Rocko distracting the salesmen by asking if they have a specific shoe in his size (these guys must have the attention span of minnows), the lead salesman was rolling his sleeves up with clear intent on clobbering Rocko. Between these assholes and the mechanics in Maniac Mechanic, it seems the O-Town business model is to insult and mistreat your customers at every opportunity.

GMLA M-88 'Alligator' Assault Tank

The need for a faster tank that retains the protection and firepower that is indicative of such a vehicle is a constant on the modern battlefield, even after the 23 Hours and the glut of super-technology that quickly flooded the market.

Some are advanced, precision engineered high-speed monsters that ooze overkill (anything from DiggersTech is a good example), some are cheap mass-production units designed to drown the enemy in a flood of armour.

The GMLA M-88 'Alligator' is a good example of an affordable, but capable middle-ground option that is seeing increasing use in the world due to its ability to navigate most difficult terrain at long-range, its robust construction which lowers maintenance costs, and the fact that this vehicle is classified as an Main Battle Tank, but can be airdropped from any commercial cargo-craft.

GMLA knew that heavy tanks were all well and good, but getting them to the battlefield was a logistical nightmare requiring massive and often vulnerable fuel convoys just to keep them running and the armor was often difficult to manufacture.

To change this around, GMLA decided to go with a plasma-electric engine from Ducati that could be recharged from any viable electrical source, such as military and civilian portable generators or even live power-lines. This allows the Alligator to have a viable fuel source even when cut off from the main force.

The armor was the next thing to be changed. Rather than heavy metals, light-weight but Mega-Damage resistant ferro-plastics and reactive nano-gel were chosen alongside nano-chemical treatments to make them more resistant to energy attacks.

In comparison to conventional armor which could take several days to produce in the quantities needed, the entire process takes only three hours even outside the massive factory-geofronts underneath Los Angeles. To reinforce the standard armor, an MDC armor plate 'jacket' is fitted to the turret and skirts are added to sides of the tank, giving it the 'alligator skin' look that makes this vehicle so noticeable.

Weight was an issue but mitigated by the usage of so much light-weight MDC materials and after the installation of Dimensionally Compressed magazines for ammunition, the resulting tank could not only take punishment, but return it in interest, all while still being able to fit inside an Air Force C-130 transport and be parachuted out the back onto the battlefield.

Finally, GMLA created the Modular Turret System; a system that allows the Alligator to switch turrets and thus its weapon loadout, with very little effort with five systems on offer from GMLA and numerous scratch-built systems.

The GMLA Alligator is in usage world-wide, with numerous buyers ranging from conventional militaries to private operators.

White American Alligator

The white American alligator is the same species as one with normal olive and black coloration on its back. It is white due to a very rare genetic mutation that affects the production of melanin, a skin pigment. White alligators do not survive long in the wild because they lack camouflage coloration and are easily caught by predators. In the River Scout exhibit at the Georgia aquarium in Atlanta.

Since the dinosaur age, alligators have been at the top of the food chain. Fast in and out of the water, these reptiles equipped with sharp teeth, strong jaws, and thick skin are armed and dangerous. As long as you don't get too close to one, they will not attack you. Actually, humans kill THEM more for their edible tails.

Into the Sewers

Everyone knows Alligators don’t live in the sewers of New York. Sean, a local from Queens, however planned to find prove that they could. Bringing a small hunting knife, Sean slipped through a manhole to investigate for himself. The cover slid off, and the infectious air cascaded over him. Holding his nose, he descended down into the darkness. With a soft thud, his shoes made contact with the ancient concrete, above the nasty foul smelling water.

He walked against the curved tunnel above the sewage, following the pipes. He navigated his way miles below the city of New York, kicking a nasty looking sewer rat, before coming under a subway hub when the ledge abruptly came to a stop on his side. Sean took the opportunity to jump to the other side, which still had the sill beneath the raised tunnel. However he completely misjudged the distance and splashed into the green-brown water. The brackish liquid seeped into his pant legs, and into his skin. The feeling should have been cold, but it sent jets of icy flames through his entire body. They subsided quickly, and he resumed his scouting for the elusive reptiles.

He trudged through the slime, and eventually the putrid scents became less pronounced, Sean actually didn’t mind it anymore. He soon couldn’t hear the sounds of automobiles pounding on the road in the noisy metropolitan area above, and his eyes were finally adapting to the lack of light. Sean still saw no sign of alligators, and he prepared to put his knife away, when he glanced at his hand. His fingernails had grown deathly sharp. What was worse, thick greenish brown discolorations were appearing on his arm. They were rough to the touch, and his other hand proved to have more of them.

Even more shocking was his torso, his body was straining his shirt, his stomach slightly expanding, and his chest and abdomen where becoming sectioned, like the scutes of a reptile. Unbeknownst to him, his pupils had slight, and his Iris had enveloped his eye, turning yellow. His ears shriveled to holes, and his nose began to push forward, invading his field of vision more than he was used to. His spine was aching now, and his legs and arms were shrinking in length, even as he grew in size. More of the greenish scales green on his arms, and his changing body destroyed reduced his pants and shirt to shreds. But, as he began to realize, he was not going to need them anymore.

A tail exploded relieving his posterior aches, and changing the shape of his body, making it difficult to stand on two legs. His face grew into an alligator’s snout, confirming to the scared college student, that he was going to have to discover personally how a sewer could be a habitat for an alligator. His last thoughts were on his family, before food became more important. His hair receded, and his eyes bulged out as his skull drastically reshaped. His neck to his groin became his underbelly, connecting with his newly grown tail and his legs became stubby hind legs, his feet turning into clawed talons. His arms shrank, as he fell forward into his sludgy domain. The water swept the Alligator’s former human clothing away. Sean was gone; an urban legend took his place. Every now and then, the alligator would lapse into Sean’s memories and try to remember who he really was, but ingesting a colony of sewer rats always easily repressed it.

anyways I kind of had a struggle with this piece of art. mainly the skull, but yeah. I'm in LOVE with the ribs (WHICH I HAND PAINTED) and the bones that show in the front leg (AND YES I PAINTED THOSE TOO). just let me have a proud moment over here. I don't know how long this took me, maybe about 20 hours over a span of a week? I've been a little too busy with my school and work and writing and ugh, I just do manips in little bits now whenever I can. judging by the tail on this, I'm out of practice. and I have a crapload of layers on this too, which I don't normally do, I mean, layers, layers, LAYERS?!?! who needs 'em?

lol erm, I swear I'm not on anything today, I just seem like it. it's close to halloween, let's blame that.

“After locking my doors, windows and pulling my shades, I stripped into something that I didn’t mind being destroyed and I found a secluded part of my house. I closed my eyes and depressed the syringe, I could feel the green liquid empty from the needle and enter my arm. As it coursed within my veins, it spread like cold flame throughout me, and then retreating beyond the cellular level, when the changes I’d so longed for began.
At first my skin dried out, in places, I could feel the soft flesh harden into tough scales, on my hands, then my legs and my stomach. My own scientific research had gone into the untested liquid, and I knew it was going to work perfectly, as I’d dreamed. Then came the claws. My human nails sharpened and thickened, becoming dagger sharp, and seriously capable of damage.
The change of my fingernails was mirrored by the change in my toes, resulting in a loss of one digit. My scales tone warped to a darker brown, and now a stripped pattern was visible on my arms and legs. An expected, but surprisingly fast change came like a double jolt from spine, my spine extended out of my ratty bathing suit, widening and strengthening into a reptilian tail, as spines began to grown down my back and on my newly grown tail. As if the weapon-like claws weren’t exciting enough, my tail- alien as it was brought a smile to my face.
My face as if triggered by my smile, suddenly began to pull into a gator’s snout. My nose merged with my mouth as it drew into a snout, and my teeth sharpened into a killer’s maw, my tongue growing in my deforming mouth. And the changes spread to eclipse all the human parts forever. As my head was touched, my brown hair fell out in clumps, and the scales replaced them, as I became a true alligator. With a toothy grin I approached my mirror. This was going to be fun."

Finaly finding time to submit something between all my homeworks, and here you have another hybrid

Hydra Scorpion (Polycephalus Imperator)

Hybrided from:
-Alligator Snapping Turtle
-Emperor Scorpion
-Gila Monster

This poisonous reptile reaches a lenght of 80-100 cm and can wight up to 45 kg, but despite his rather small proportions, he is the apex predator in his desertic enviroment.

His sand colored Shell and skin pattern allows him to camouflage between the sand and the rocks, where he waits for his preys. Somethimes he even bury himself leaving only the spikes of his shell outside.

The succes of this creature as a predator come from a very powerful venom that he uses to kill preys as big as him, or bigger, but the most significant detail is that the venom is no longer on its tail, nor even in his mouth, its is in his pinsers. Each pinser is full of little fang-looking stings that penetrate the victims when he grabs them, and segregate big amounts of a powerful neurotoxin that causes a major failure in the nervous system, killing in minutes.

His tail can still be used to case a lot of damage and as a "knife" to cut meat when the pinsers are busy.

This peculiar monster receives his name from the fact that both his pinser and tail posses uniq paterns that make them look like heads, and as they are always held up, making it look like it has 3 snake heads while the real head is hidden under the shell to keep it safe.

You have NO IDEA how much I wanted Yuka to be saying "I pledge alligence to the flag..." in that last panel. Gave me hell. Sorry it's from the same angle as the other Yuka panel but Danga originally drew a much more awesome one that I drew like 3 times and then made my mum pose and then it didn't work and then I sketched other angles and made mum pose AGAIN and I stood on a sofa and aaaaahhhhhhhh...

Anyways, she asked me to do a sexy Sniper from Team Fortress 2, so here you go 8D

If you don't know, the Darwin's Danger Shield is a shield that you put on the Sniper's back and it protects you against headshots -Snipers- (sadly not for backstabs-Spies-, FFFFF--), and the thing is made of crocodile's skin.

Btw, the crocodile skin I used this Alligator Skin Resource to make it 83 -->

Here's a bit of a description:
This is the tolerant alligator digimon, Allimon and her evolutions.
I would say she's the "normal" digimon of the group, she's calm & nice, tolerant of others, always thinks before she speaks, doesn't lose her temper easily, and gets along with everyone. You could say that when all the other digimon are flustered she is usually the one that comes up with a safe plan. She surprisingly gets along with Bengalmon (Not uploaded yet) the best.

I'm quite happy with her, he design is simple but good enough for me xD Her element is water. The names mean: hatchmon; hatchling. Crocmon; crocodile. Allimon; Alligator. Aigiamon; from Aigialosaurus. Suchusmon; from Deinosuchus. And Sebekmon from the egyptian god sebek.

Scaling Your Dragons

20 high quality photo images of crocodile and alligator skins, which just so happen to work wonderfully as textures for dragon skin.

TIPS
Use multiple textures on your dragons, cutting up each image into sections so that you can really cover the beast in a variety of scale types. Most of these textures will mesh together nicely, so you can stick 'em all together to get nice coverage.
Converting the textures to grayscale before sticking them on an image gets rid of colours you don't want in the final, so you can use a green texture on a red dragon.
Using layer masks instead of erasing textures is a useful trick so if you accidentally remove something you really wanted to keep but only saw this later on in the image, you can just click on the layer mask, grab some black, and re-brush the texture back into the picture.

A rare albino American Alligator(Alligator mississippiensis), one of two that live at Alligator Adventure in Myrtle Beach, SC. Due to their lack of protective pigment, these must live under a shelter, shielded from sunligh, otherwise they will sunburn and develop lethal skin cancer.

Al the Alligator Man

Al is a veteran of the sideshow. He's an older man, 64 to be exact, and he likes to relax and play solitaire. He collects newspapers from every city the carnival stops in. His favorite patrons are the children, he says their wonder warms an old man's heart.

Al is a whimsical take on sideshow performers that were often billed as "alligator man" or "reptile man." These performers had a severe form of a skin disease called ichthyosis. Ichthyosis caused these performers to have thick, dry, scaly skin and often rendered them unable to grow hair.

This plush is made from fleece with embroidered features. His pants are upcycled from pockets from my old jeans. (They've been washed before use.) The pants aren't attached and can be pulled off, but they're very tight and they'd be awful to have to try to get back on again. His little hat is made of felt and is held onto his head by two loose stitches, so if you'd like to take it off gently pull it away from his head and snip the stitches. This plush is about 8 inches tall, 8 1/2 if you count the hat. He's stuffed with hypoallergenic polyfill.

Hahaha I like this guy a lot, even though I did a crappy job painting him. (alligator skin is hard to paint okay ;n; )
And the crappy photos u_u

He fired in one piece, but someone messed with him on the shelf and broke one of the peels off (some glue fixed it), and a toenail fell off after I painted him but whatever wasn't worth gluing back on.

ceramics, acrylic, modge podge for the eyes/nails/teeth again, and coated in a clear gloss spray (he's actually a little TOO shiny because apparantly there was wind today and it would blow every time I tried to spray the gloss So I had to spray it really close to the sculpture, which made him extra-shiny. )

This handmade lampwork bead has a base of pink purple luster glass with a very strong mother of pearl sparkle to it. It's been shaped in the flame to look like aligator skin or scales. After being encased in a thick layer of clear, I decorated the surface with a raised band of sparkling goldstone and metallic dots.

This would make a fantastic pendant

I managed to take several pictures of Penelope both above and below water using my 18-55mm lens. This shot is one of the below water shots where you can get a good look at her feet, the way her legs are off to the side, and the softer skin devoid of osteoderms like on the surface of her body. Taken at Fort Wayne Children's Zoo in Fort Wayne, Indiana on July 23rd, 2012.

It's another fun commission in the princess turned "down" line. This little sister has become an alligator for all the world to .. um.. see.

Made with colored pencil, colored paper, marker, and gel pen ink for a hint of magical sparkle.

The story: The new crown princess loved wearing clothes of all types. Not quite a fashion queen, but I suppose she was slated to be had she not messed up!

At the royal zoo the princess saw an alligator with the most lovely alligator skin she had ever seen. Much like her distant aunt, whose initials are CD, she had to make clothes out of it.Very unique and original she thought!

She ordered the royal hunters to hunt down the best and largest alligators so she could wear their skins. The hunters went to the swamps and hunted down many alligators, and skinned them to be made into clothes and boots for the princess.

I can't say if the boots were made for walking, though.

At the royal ball the princess wowed everyone when she came out wearing her alligator gown and boots. After that, the princess decided to wear nothing but alligator clothes, boots, and even underwear! (Ew.) She even had a horse saddle made from alligator skin as well!

At the swamp a young female alligator went to the family nemesis, the witch, for help. The gator explained to the witch that her father was skinned just to be made into clothes for the crown princess! The witch hugged the crying alligator and told her that she would get all the clothes from the princess and give them a proper burial. Then she set off to fulfill her promise.

The princess one day decided to show off her alligator clothes by riding her horse throughout the kingdom. Even the squirrels had to - look! A squirrel!

*ahem*

Even the squirrels had to adore her radiance... and thank whatever squirrel gods that squirrels have that their hides weren't as fabulous.

As the princess entered the the forest she noticed in the woods a strange tree shaped like a human! You can see that tree here: [link]

What really unnerved the princess was that it had man eyes and followed her moments as she rode passed it!

Suddenly!!! In the middle of the road was the witch!!!!

The witch halted the horse and told the princess to get off! She wanted a few words with the princess. The princess instead told the witch that she would be skinned alive like she had these alligators skinned for clothes!

Once more the witch told the princess to get off her horse, and the princess did much to the surprise of the witch!

Was there hope for the princess?

Ha. Fat chance.

The witch told the princess that she must give up all the alligator clothes and boots and even the saddle, so they may have a decent burial.

Nonsense, said the princess, she was the crown princess. Her word was law over man and animal!

The witch told the princess that she would wear the clothes as an alligator! Then she boasted about the rest of her royal zoo, detailing each and ever capture while the princess listened - too horrified to move!

Then the witch began to cast her spell.

The princess tried to run, but she just wasn't as fast as an alligator... yet! When the transformation was complete, the witch told the princess that she would be taken to the swamp to either be accepted as an alligator... or become meat for revenge.
