That other recent pic of Light that I did was actually just a precursor to this one.
I just wanted to 'burtonize??' this anime, being very dark and twisted in itself.
And arg, there are too many CUTE!Strawberry!Ls. What happened to that dark awkwardness that so beautifully defined his character? I just can't see death note as being so fluffly and light........like a marshmellow.

Yes, those are twirlies. I was cging his hair and then I just spontaneously started drawing twirlies, so I kept them.

I chose to portray Light as Kira, the self-proclaimed "God of the New World". The idea to wear wings came from an image of Light from the first opening of the Death Note anime (during the last "sekai woooooo ").

I suppose some of you might have been expecting Ryuk or Rem from the title, but I chose it for the fact that Light tends to act more like a god of death than actual shinigami.

NOTE: I did not make the wings - they were commissioned from a local costume maker; and no, they don't do international orders. _{(Please avoid asking about the price. I'm sorry, but discussing monetary matters always makes me uncomfortable.)}

Woooooooo!!! Death Note has not only been made into a live aciton movie, but it is now an anime!!

I watched the first episode last night so felt like drawing something from it lol. Light acutally scares me, his personality is rather scary. But he is pretty cool to draw.

It was a dull day at headquarters, so Watari agreed to accompany the three to get a little snack. It was only for this store that L would risk staying outside. Light had no interest in the petite confections, but after much persuasion by Misa, he gave in and had a little devil's food cake.

_{The store is called Cupcakes by Sonja. The store people were so nice. Didn't apprehend us for taking so many pictures even though we're really not allowed to without a permit. Although the fact that our team bought over a dozen cupcakes must have helped. Haha.}

You guys, chill out. I don't know why it's up there either, okay? For that reason, it's obviously no use asking me. It's not like I can control the number of views or favorites I receive.

I know this is is far from our best work, but it's been years since we shot this and we've learned a lot more since then.

My friends and I did this because it's something we enjoy, and as a tribute to a series that we love. We shared it here, just like anyone else who has ever submitted a deviation. That's all.

That aside, nobody has the right to deny the worth of someone's work just because they can't see it. I know everyone is free to come up with their own opinions. That's all well and good, but there is no need to pointlessly bring down people who have opinions different from your own. I'm not just defending myself here - I'm speaking for everyone who has had this happen to them.

To those of you who feel the need to insult me, or others like me - Really, posting spiteful comments isn't going to do anyone any good. Whining isn't going to take way the supposed "popularity" you feel I don't deserve - which, keep in mind, I did not ask for or bring upon myself.

Before you use freedom of speech as an excuse, take note that something of equal importance is the sense of common decency. You're certainly not going to change people's minds by making yourself look like a rude, bitter, popularity-crazed prick. You're much better off using your time doing something that's actually productive if you truly care about the community.

TL;DR - deviantART is NOT serious effin' business. It would do you good not to get caught up in pointless negativity.

Finished this a while back; the DeathGod.org Contest Entry. And I just got the update today and I won !! omgomgomg

I didn't upload this until the results were in because someone was going around stealing the comics, apparently o.O.
Besides that, overall I wanted to shove Death Note into the compact form of 30-panels. I think this is the best thought-out one I've made. And now I can retire from DNcomics happily ...When I get lazy and run out of ideas, yay.

Our favorite outtake from our nth Death Note photoshoot. Inspired by The Beatles' iconic Abbey Road album cover, but we weren't really recreating it. Otherwise there wouldn't be five of us and L would have been Paul McCartney with no shoes. Haha!

And yeah, I guess Near and L aren't supposed to have shoes BUT we were in a commercial area and we couldn't risk them stepping on something on the road and possibly hurting their feet whenever we had to run back to the sidewalk when cars would pass by. And don't forget... L wears shoes when he's out - like in the university and while playing tennis.

It took us so many tries to get this shot right... Erving says the focus was insanely difficult. Even though we needed it to be fast, autofocus just wouldn't work so he was on full manual. So we had to keep posing and running away when cars would drive past, while constantly watching out for guards that might apprehend us for taking photos! Hahaha!

It is finally done:
Character L, also known as the detective candy addict from the manga series Death Note.

This guy got most of the votes of my poll 'What shall I draw next [...]?'
which is weird because I mainly draw game fanart (or better said: 'Square Enix' fanart) aside from the usual drawings.

About Death Note

I don't know a whole lot about Death Note, except from reading *SilentReapers comics, and from all the other fanarts I've seen before. And the movie of course, of which I took the reference from.

I know there are characters called L, Light, Mello, Near and Kira, and a crazy big guy with the name Ryuk.

But that's it really. Shame on me I know.

About the drawing...

The whole picture in general wasn't hard to draw, but... argh... that damn sleeve! It was driving me nutty, I tell ya!!! St00pid folds!!! D:<

The hair was made up, since the reference image wasn't clear at all, so I drew it the way as I thought it would look nice without making it too fake or realistic.

As for the background...
Believe it or not, but that's entirely done with a 0.5mm HB mechanical pencil. No further comments on that.

Death Note: Sunday Morning

It was a beautiful day out, and it made Misa extremely unhappy that she couldn't spend it outside with Light. She sulked and whined until Watari felt sorry for the surveillance team whose eardrums were suffering extreme trauma.

Watari agreed to accompany Misa, Light and L for a walk in the park. Misa requested for Watari to take a picture of them, and he managed to take this shot seconds before L kicked Light into the pond. (Ah, hence the devious smirk.) His plan was not perfect. Due to the fact that they were handcuffed together, L got dragged into the pond, as well.

FINALLY !!!
Aghh this took a while with schoolwork and everything else that;s in my way. Mainly because compared to the last one, I had to draw more in this one. For example, the perspective scene thingy took me like... an hour itself because I couldn't make it look right ><.
Note that the "people" are grey and don't have any distinct features because they're anonymous. It's also just another way of saying that i'm lazy
This idea was my friend Dexter's. Also the person who got me the DEATH BOX for my birthday which is on Christmas; a MONTH EARLY. AHAHAHAHAHA!!! ....Yeah so he got the idea because I was forcing him to read Death Note and at a certain chapter, this is discussed. And then he said that he would like to get a paper shredder, throw the Death Note pages in it, and confetti it. Or something. My memory is horrible.
...Anyway you're probably not reading this anymore but I'll keep ranting because I want to.
RAITO'S ABORTION Hahaha! That got your attention didn't it?! You want to know what that's all about don't you!?!? WELL MAYBE IT WILL BE IN MY NEXT COMIC. HAHAAHAHA. (Maybe. :3) For sure though, I'll get to drawing the other characters and blah blah blah....

...Oh, and yes I know in the comic it was supposed to be Remu, but Ryuk fills in because of the Apple Addiction. It just makes it easier on me. ...Because I'm lazy.

I'm really happy with how this picture turned out. ^.^ I know where all my mistakes are, so if you see them I already know I don't have the time to work on this any longer. I need to study, and I get obsessive... will keep working on a picture until I'm satisfied that it looks reasonably finished. I'm also the type that gets sick of pictures after too much time. lol.

Anyway, I am in love with Death Note. I love L, Light and Ryuk equally.. but as always the silly L and his food cravings rings right at home with me

Edit: Wow, thankyou so much for all the favorites, I hadn't expected it to be this popular. I suppose I should have made a proper write-up for this piece, but I suppose my original words are true enough XD *goes to play DDR to burn off the cinammon buns, pizza, cookies, and tarts she ate*

Edit: Now I really need a proper explanation. My comments are always lacking. This was done using my DN manga. Theres a picture of L from (Ch 2?) that I used to draw the lineart for the head/shoulders and legs. The arms, background, colours, etc. are all done by me. It's just that by the time I finished this picture, it felt like it was completely mine. It's been months since I did this piece. To avoid any future confusion I'll make my comments more specific. It didn't seem important at the time, but that is something we must learn as we grow.

We chanced upon this shot through experimentation and a bit of dumb luck. Erving let me try my hand at a technique that involved catching the flash fired from another camera. Before attempting these shots, we had been taking pictures in a room with yellow light so I was using custom white balance, and I got this interesting color because I forgot to switch to auto WB.

I got this idea while watching the Death Note movies.
I noticed that there wasn't any scene where L was NOT eating some unhealthy things... I wondered, is that even possible to eat that much sweets without becoming ill?

I made this one because the final 12th volume of Death Note is finally coming out tomorrow! I'm not like many people that read it online or skim through the episodes of the Anime on YouTube or something. I have waited and can enjoy the finale with no idea what will happen! Yay for me

anywhoo...I like this stamp. The font was the best I could find and I hope it won't bother people who chose to use it.

I speak of my shinigami, Ryuk. Always watching, waiting. It's annoying when his sinister cackle escapes through that wide grin. It's unnerving, even for a person like me. He is my watcher in the dark. But when he's begging for apples, he's just little Ryukkie who follows me home.

i made this comic as a parody of my previous flash because of all the talk about 'i can hear the bells' song from the movie Hairspray

for those of you who don't know the movie or the song, here it is [link]

so L trolled Raito with his bells and made him confess. i wish this would have been the real episode 25 of the anime
is there even such a thing as trolling someone with music?

anyway i just couldn't get this song out of my mind and eventually came up with this idea. there are too many 'hear the bells' in my gallery i had to mock it orz

I've been working on this for a while. Actually I've put it off for a while. I didn't want to color it XD rofl... I think this is the biggest one I made. Maybe. I'm not sure. It's like 40 panels?
Anyway the draft I had was about 30 panels but I just kept cutting or extending it and adding more stuff because Dexter kept making comments.

Anyway, Enjoy! For now o_o... WOO FINALS.

NOTE! They*did* spell it "Killa" in Chapter 21, Page 98, bottom left panel. Qoute, in the writing, "you know it, killed by Killa, I [...]"

Don't just lazily run your eye over those icons, looking for a recognisable avatar (preferably your own)! Oh yeah, and I think it only fair I credit the Tuxedo Team cosplayers for bringing Death Note to my attention:

Before I saw their Death Note photoshoots, I not only didn't know what Death Note was - I didn't watch anime at all. I've started watching tons of it now, and they're the original source of my new-found new love.

This movie brings us to L's investigative headquarters as he and Light work to solve the Kira case. Whilst perching in his favourite chair, he spots Light acting very suspiciously while scribbling away manically in a notebook...

Oh yeah, and there is no sound. I could have asked my brother to do the voices, but then he would have seen this cartoon, and he thinks I'm enough of a weirdo without this, thankyouverymuch. *EDIT* I finally showed my brother the cartoon yesterday, and I experienced the rare joy of seeing someone watching my cartoon and laughing out loud. He loved it, so I guess I was worried for nothing. Future flashes will most likely have voices! *ENDEDIT*

Oh dear, where do I start? This has got to be the most difficult painting I've ever done! When I started I told myself I wasn't going to stop until I was satisfied, and I made it! I literally redrew each character atleast 7 times, I'm serious.

Pretty much these are the main characters of Death Note (the single best manga in existence) on a bus somewhere in Tokyo... a Tokyo where Kira has killed off 70% of the population. (I was tired, okay? xD)

Guess how long this took, and then add 30 hours...

Done in PS CS, no airbrush allowed!

Yupp, this time I ended up drawing a Death Note fanart. I've borrowed the 3 first books from a friend of me (yay, there is actually someone I know around here who reads manga! TTwTT ) and bought the 4th one. So I ask you another question again, how many books is there in this serie and is it worth reading the rest? xD

Do not full-view or read the description if you haven't seen/read this part of the series!

A photo sequence dedicated to Misora Naomi and her tragic end.

1. Naomi holding her dead fiancee, Raye Penbar. We know this scene didn't actually happen - it's a somewhat conceptual thing, to show Naomi's vendetta against Kira.

2 & 3. Light attempting to kill "Maki Shouku".

4. Light waiting for the 40 seconds to pass by. Yeah, it's inaccurate - they were supposed to be facing each other. Oops. That's what we get for not reviewing that episode before the shoot. But hey, we had fun taking this shot. XD

5. Kira watching as Naomi walks away to commit suicide, as he had written in the piece of the Death Note.

Whew, okay that was quite a challenge to shoot. Sorry it's missing several scenes, and we ended up shooting WAY too late, but here's to hoping you can still appreciate the photography.

Say hello to our friend Kat , who was a wonderful Naomi. And it's her first cosplay photoshoot! ^o^
