Was out barcrafting most of the weekend (instead of playing DIII! taking it slowly at the moment, sort of . . .), but I had my sketchbook with me and felt the need to do some drawing!
I've been slack lately a bit (certainly because of DIII, among other things) and it felt really good to do some drawing with pencil again, been ages since I've done anything even semi-polished.

Diablo! Sort of, anyway; not quite dramatic enough with the proportions and horns, maybe some sort of lesser demon? Ha! That style of thing, either away.

btw, this is NOT official stuff, I was just inspired by the awesomeness

Diablo 3 is finally out!
I worked on this last year as a tribute to the game.
I got my collectors edition copy but I won't get my hands on the game until this weekend!
I'm planning on playing as the female demon hunter.

I couldn't help myself. >.> I just had to do a fan art of the new character for Diablo 3, the Witch Doctor.

This was done with no reference at hand during History Class. Although I already had a rough idea of what a witch doctor looks like, I can't remember exactly all the details. :] So, what you see here are customized weapon and clothing designs. XD

The staff on the left is sort of based on my little dragon signature. Lol!

Finally! After sooo long, here are some fresh stuff!

I actually started these for a small contest by Blizzard Entertainment for Diablo 3 but I wasn't able to finish them and only entered two. Then I realized the potential in doing high quality D3 fanart for publicity. Not only was it for good press but would also serve as a good practice for me. Then, eventually, it turned into this 3 month beast of a personal project. I actually started mid-April and finished just two days ago working on these on and off after my day-job.

My art direction was like this because I wanted a glamour/fashion/action type of full body portraits. I wanted to stay close to the original designs while giving it a little twist. Also, since Diablo 3 is a top-down type of game, seeing action and skills up close would be very interesting for the target audience. Although it was very fun to do, I actually got burnt out just because it took soo long to finish. (blame my busy day-job haha) Still, I got what I wanted and learned a ton about composition, posing, anatomy, lighting, armor designs, and most importantly, about being PATIENT and STICKING to your plan to the end.

This is my entry for the Diablo 3 fanart contest by Blizzard.
...well, not exactly this. I sent in what I had right before the deadline and finished it later.
It's a bit sad that I cannot sent in this (definetely better) piece, but I worked on this to improve my own artistic skills, not to win a contest.

Does the picture even need an explanation?
Diablo 3, the monk. If I had the game, I would propably play one. (or a barbarian)
I think the spell is called "Inner Sanctuary".

I made this drawing especially for my brother, he asked me to make a drawing with diablo for his desktop PC. He is crazy about that game, so do i , i`m waiting with interest to be released Diablo 3.
Done in Corel Painter in about 4 hours.

Then I realized the potential in doing high quality D3 fanart for publicity. Not only was it for good press but would also serve as a good practice for me. Then, eventually, it turned into this 3 month beast of a personal project. I actually started mid-April and finished just two days ago working on these on and off after my day-job.

My art direction was like this because I wanted a glamour/fashion/action type of full body portraits. I wanted to stay close to the original designs while giving it a little twist. Also, since Diablo 3 is a top-down type of game, seeing action and skills up close would be very interesting for the target audience. Although it was very fun to do, I actually got burnt out just because it took soo long to finish. (blame my busy day-job haha) Still, I got what I wanted and learned a ton about composition, posing, anatomy, lighting, armor designs, and most importantly, about being PATIENT and STICKING to your plan to the end.

Diablo Class Death Knight

A submission I've done for a competition over at Diablofans.com. They gave me a free ticket to Blizzcon last year! So for this concept, I decided to combine the two missing classes from last year's build of Diablo 3, which were Necromancer and Paladin. So this is what I would imagine as a Death Knight.

I would like to take some design process knowledge I learned from Art Center and re tackle this concept in the future.

Wohoo!! can't believe it's one year already.

I made this as a request for Vaeflare from Blizzard. (It will be featured in their site this week! yippee!) Anyway it's kinda rushed compared to my usual stuff... I learned a lot on how to cram!

I wanted to give it an horror movie poster vibe while sort of staying near my previous Diablo 3 illustrations.

Hope I did it justice.. XD

I feel there isn't enough love for Applejack these days, what with her sometimes fading in to the background and being overshadowed by the more vocal and flamboyant cast.

Since Diablo 3 has been announced and I am very excited for its release, I thought "why not get AJ in on the action."

My Diablo 3 female Monk costume for Blizzcon 2010. I tried to make it as accurate as possible to the concept art and it was well received - I took first place in the Blizzcon 2010 costume contest! The armor parts are made entirely of hand-tooled leather and the katars are plywood.
