Install: place the files into C:\Users\[USERNAME]\.gimp-2.6\brushes [or change into the version folder that you are using]

If you're running gimp when you install you'll have to right click on the brushes panel and press "refresh brushes" for them to show up.

The Rake is a very versatile animated art brush, usable for creating everything from grass and hair to patterns, cross-hatches and technical sketches.

Also, if you have a version of GIMP above 2.4, these brushes can also be used for it. Just find the brushes files in the program files for Gimp (the path will be local disc-program files-Gimp2.0-share-Gimp-2.0-Brushes) and paste this .Abr file into the folder (where everything is labeled with the extension ".GBR".) What next? Go to Gimp and hit "refresh" on your brush palette, and the photoshop brushes will load there! Unfortunately, I'm new to Gimp and as such do not know how to get the brushes to flip jitter like they do for Photoshop, so I think you may have to do it manually by making the brushes into an image hose. Otherwise, you can use the paintbrush modifier to get these to jitter size and spread.

I hope these are useful to everyone! I'll be posting the tutorial soon, but I have one thing to get out of the way yet. I've kept someone waiting for long enough, and she's already been super patient with me! Now, onwards with me! ]]>

Just find the brushes files in the program files for Gimp (the path will be local disc-program files-Gimp2.0-share-Gimp-2.0-Brushes) and paste this .Abr file into the folder (where everything is labeled with the extension ".GBR".) What next? Go to Gimp and hit "refresh" on your brush palette, and the photoshop brushes will load there! Unfortunately, I'm new to Gimp and as such do not know how to get the brushes to flip jitter like they do for Photoshop, so I think you may have to do it manually by making the brushes into an image hose. Otherwise, you can use the paintbrush modifier to get these to jitter size and spread.

I hope these are useful to everyone! I'll be posting the tutorial soon, but I have one thing to get out of the way yet. I've kept someone waiting for long enough, and she's already been super patient with me! Now, onwards with me!

Ahhhh... Feels good to be productive.

Much like the Autumn Leave Active Brush: [link] This is an active brush of Wild Grass made from (and for) the GIMP program. Each grass, thistle, weed, tall branch, was hand painted in watercolor then scanned.

There are 73 layers for the wildgrass and 63 for just grass. It may be way overdone, but I hope I got down the randomness nature often has.

The wildgrass has tall weeds that really stick out. The justgrass zip files have no tall weeds for when you just want grass... or if the tall weeds are too overwhelming for you.

I put in 3 sizes to play around with of each type. the smaller ones I can see being more functional. The medium size kept a lot of the watercolor detail. Oddly there was a large format, but it really took up way too much space.

I hope you all can enjoy these. I had a great time making them. Any questions or difficulties, please feel free to ask me.

... next I want to try my hand at wheat fields, or glover... or wildflowers.

Follow these instructions - READ FIRST THEN DO THEM -
------------------------------------
1. Save this picture to your computer

2. Go to file and click open

3. There it should take you to pictures. Don't click on the image there. Go to Your desktop thing. Usually its your log in that shows up on your computer. Click on that.

4. Find the current gimp you are using. It will say something like .gimp-2.6 or whatever.

5. Then you should see folders saying ' brushes ' ' curves ' and all the others. Click once on that. Make sure not to open it.

6. In the bottom left hand side of the whole thing it should say ' Add ' and next to it should say ' remove '. Click Add.

7. brushes should now be avalible for selection for location to save things under.

8. Now load this image on gimp.

9. Go to ' Save as ' under file.

10. For the name put ' Grass type 1.gbr '

11. Under that it should say ' Save in folder '. Find brushes and save it in that.

12. Hit the save button.

13. It will ask you about spacing and the description. Now spacing can make the brush a little different when using it so save it somewhere around 10 to 20 and put what you want for the discription.

14. Hit save.

15. Close gimp down so its no longer up then reopen it.

16. Open up a new canvas.

17. Go over to your paint brush icon and click the black circle.

18. If you did this right a small grass blade should be in the group. Click on that.

19. Apply jitter so the grass blades change every now and again.

Follow these instructions - READ FIRST THEN DO THEM -
------------------------------------
1. Save this picture to your computer

2. Go to file and click open

3. There it should take you to pictures. Don't click on the image there. Go to Your desktop thing. Usually its your log in that shows up on your computer. Click on that.

4. Find the current gimp you are using. It will say something like .gimp-2.6 or whatever.

5. Then you should see folders saying ' brushes ' ' curves ' and all the others. Click once on that. Make sure not to open it.

6. In the bottom left hand side of the whole thing it should say ' Add ' and next to it should say ' remove '. Click Add.

7. brushes should now be avalible for selection for location to save things under.

8. Now load this image on gimp.

9. Go to ' Save as ' under file.

10. For the name put ' Grass type 1.gbr '

11. Under that it should say ' Save in folder '. Find brushes and save it in that.

12. Hit the save button.

13. It will ask you about spacing and the description. Now spacing can make the brush a little different when using it so save it somewhere around 10 to 20 and put what you want for the discription.

14. Hit save.

15. Close gimp down so its no longer up then reopen it.

16. Open up a new canvas.

Question and tips : What you will do when its time to produce a grass brush?
To make a grass with a fine point real grass? Seriously this is what i though before, but honestly look at the real grass from close view..you have true no! But now go more far and look at the same grass, do you think to produce a real fine point grass is great to make a grass effect for a artwork? No my friend, this grass is not what you can see for a distance view, this is what i did inside this set, a real grass effect from a fair and real art distance view and not a simulated close view as many did it by mistake before.

1. Locate the Images folder (default location is C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.0\share\gimp\2.0\images). Find the image called "gimp-splash.png" and rename it to something like "gimp-splash2.png". Rename the new splash (eg Fairyland GIMP Splash) to "gimp-splash.png" and put it in the images file. Now Gimp will load the new splash.
2. You can create a folder called "Splashes" (path should be C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.0\share\gimp\2.0\splashes) and put all splash screens in there. I believe they must all be .png files. Now gimp will randomly pick an image from that folder to display when loading. I like this option because I have long loading times )due to many brushes, fonts, script-fu's and plugins) and I don't have to stare at the same splash each time.

Tips how to make these grass glowing
Copy the original grass layer.
*1 First layers Is the original grass.
*2 Second layers is your copy.(your copy layer on top)
Now blur the original and set it normal.
And than back to the copy (on top) and set as "screen"
That's it
