I took this while in Namibia, in Etosha Park. I can't believe how many times it's been viewed and favorited! Thank you all so much! This big guy was maybe.....10 yards from the suv we were in, just chillin'. I can't wait to go back to Africa. Some day.....

So....

I was gonna do this comic about commissions and I needed some goofy looking animal to use. The husband suggested a giraffe. I thought this a good idea.

So for the last couple of days I've been researching and practicing how to draw giraffes and make one in my... style? One of my styles. Anyway, do you know what I discovered after many many sketches later?

Giraffes are really REALLY hard to draw.

Do you know how animators find animating horses difficult? Well, giraffes must be 10 times freaking harder. They're just awkward all around... the face and the legs... UHG!

Thusly, I'm going to use a different animal for the comic because I'm not gonna draw this guy 8 more times ON MODEL. So I made him blue and slapped him up here.

and b) because I just LOVE giraffes!! I really do

I used ordininary color pencils..most of them are still from kindergarden ^^
I'll get some very good color pencils for my birthday!
oh and this took me about 10 hours..

Geraldine the Giraffe

Geraldine lives at London Zoo, but is not very keen on the weather and is planning to go back home. She's in the habit of fluttering her sweeping eyelashes at visitors and flirting with them, just in case someone might help her escape to Africa - or at least the Caribbean!

A quick drawing I did of a Giraffe. I used graphitint pencils dry to draw it. These pencils are sorta like a combination of a graphite pencil and a watercolor pencil. Dry the colors are really dull and muted, wet the colors become pretty bright. They are interesting to work with.

While drawing this, I learned that giraffes are pretty funny looking. I guess I never really analyzed them before, but to me they look like something Dr. Seuss would have come up with. Don't get me wrong, I still think they are cute though.

this pokemon isn't very strong so they stay in large groups where together they can protect each other and be happy. they love to eat things really high up so they always strip the leaves off high trees and many trainers have to hold their food up high to get this pokemon to eat. they are very loving and love to play but can also be tough battlers even if they are weak. full grown they reach about 10 feet tall

Well I started the giraffe on November 16th.. and now she's finished, on Thanksgiving!

She had such a glorious head before this picture, but than my computer decided to randomly turn off and I lost the whole thing.

Overall, I think I did a pretty good job on her!

Spent a week on her and 10 layers.

Giraffe Vs. Okapi

I have a friend who is OBSESSED with giraffes XD it's my childhood friend who I'm at university with... Yeah. Anyway, she's totally in love with them, and has a giraffe pillow pet, and just recently she got a giraffe plushie from her mom for St. Nick's Day. She was obsessing over it for about an hour, when finally I got fed up (not really, I just wasn't in the mood for giraffe talk anymore ) and I asked her if she knew what an Okapi was. She kinda looked at me with a confused expression on her face, so I google-imaged a picture of an Okapi for her, and told her it was a "rainforest-dwelling, shorter-necked relative of the giraffe." What does she say in response?

"Ew, it's ugly!"

So we got into a "joking debate" about how they aren't ugly and how their faces look almost exactly like giraffes (which after drawing them so much I realize now that's not true ) I think she was just kidding about it being ugly, because I showed her a picture of a baby (which, not even kidding, looks EXACTLY like the adults, just smaller,) and she thought it was adorable... And through our whole "argument," she sounded like she was kidding/being sarcastic, and I sounded like I was kidding. But I was really quite upset it sounds really lame that I got upset over her calling Okapi's ugly, but it's true. I was legitimately offended by her comment. I was not a happy camper for the rest of the night

So ever since then (I think it was 3 nights ago,) I've been doing non-stop anatomical studies/drawings of okapis and giraffes and trying to get their anatomy down as perfectly as possible. I've been wanting to do a side-by-side comparison drawing of the two and shoving it in her face to show her that okapis are pretty much the cutest things ever! seriously, ever since she made that comment about them being ugly they've become my new favorite animal (not really XD)

Like... Dolphins have been my favorites since I was 10 and it hasn't changed at all during that time, but when I was 14 I went through a "wolf-phase" where I drew nothing but wolves, and then from 17 until now (I'm almost 19,) it was a "dragon-phase," etc. I go through phases XD Now I think it's going to be giraffes and okapis... But mostly okapis Because I love them. And they aren't ugly! I've actually got some character concept sketches on my biology notes not that I need anymore characters or anything XD I have too many as it is... Oh well!

I drew Devlin, Kenny, the little "Kev, me" thing as if I was a young Ben, Tim (DC comics, formerly Robin, now Red Robin, staring in his own comic series), Kevin and Ben.

Drew Kon-El (DC comics, Teen Titans), the seriously cute, pink giraffe, the pink haired woman, and the chib next to her on the right.

My contribution to the Eurofurence 2010 banner project, the (Rothschild) Giraffe. Giraffes are nifty. :3 She's wearing primarily beaded jewelry since the bead trade is an important source of income for Ugandan women, and Uganda is one of the few places this animal still lives in the wild.

This was hung in the main atrium of the hotel along with 10 others, to spell out the title of the convention. I'm incredibly thankful to have been included in such a grand undertaking.

This is a painting i did last year, in 2009, for my art subject at school, when i was in year 10. It is my first oil painting, so it took me quite a while, and i was still adapting to using oil paints, so there are a few parts of the painting, that i am still not satisfied with.

The old giraffe avatar is a little...awkward and messy. I don't want to say anything too bad. But it needed improvement, so I decided to make a new one. This was done in one day in a total of maybe 10 hours. Avatars are a new challenge to me, I've only done a few in the past, and that's the faaar past.

This has inspired the creation of new avs and the revamping of some old, so be sure to watch here for art updates, and visit Tanz every now and then to see what's up (: We're uploaded in AI, where all the feral dreams congregate. Hard to miss us.

Plush giraffe on a trip

Giraffen : Yepp...I'm named Giraffen...as you can see I'm a plush giraffe with a Harley Davidson scarf around my neck. After long and fatefull service to comfort my owner she finally decided to take some photos of me. The ones you see here.

1. Well lets start out the journey then. To a garden I think it was. As you can see I'm firmly sitting in my owners backpack.

2. Here I stand on a sculpture of a horse with a rabbit on its back. The glass you can see on it are from old beer bottles. And I am the cow-giraffe.

3. Oh I can also pose in strange places like here. Don't ask me what this is okay I was just placed here.

4. Just in the field. The glass did smell rather pleasant if you're wondering.

5. Hmm what may this be then? Some sort of fruit? It smells like...cocoa.

6. And I'm in the jungle. Finally a place where I really do like to be. You can all leave me here and move on.

7. Bed of leaves...no thank you I prefer a real bed thank you very much. They do smell nice thought.

8. I didn't know that palm trees had a place for a giraffe. Did you?

9. Hmm can you eat these? They look kind of...dry if you ask me.

10. Hehe Im in a cacti landscape. Well it's a greenhouse with a zone where cacti likes to grow. Thank god my owner didn't try to put me in one of them.

11. Um guys. Giraffes can't climb in trees. You hear me!? We can't!! Im holding on for dear life here.

12. I'm in a tree stump. Well it's better than a friggin tree!

13. And down on the ground again. Right where I belong. And this is where the images end as the camera died.

Oh and the one holding the camera is my owner by the way.

Definitely drew a lot more this month than last. I think trying to make up for such a short one last time. :3

At the top there, I revamped an old character of mine named Sheldon. (I'm talking elementary-school old XDDDD) I like how he turned out, I might use him as some sort of professor-y type character.

Chloe on a motorcycle was my original plan for my Illustrator-practice pic (her on a chair), but I didn't want to ink something so elaborate.

There's a random Kurama drawing in there, because he inspired some of Arak's design.

Marrus is also a fairly-old chara of mine whose design I think I finally like. (Previous versions made him look too much like Santa. X_X) He's a vampire and Arak's adoptive brother from when they were both mortals (they aren't actually related). I think I decided he's an ancient Scythian. I still want to change his name, since Anne Rice has a vamp named Marius... >_> *hadn't read Vampire Chronicles when Marrus was created*

Aand I think I might name my giraffe-girl Mercy, but I haven't decided if that's going to be her first name or her last, I guess it depends on which I'm going to use more often. (Yanno, since she's a cop and most call each other by last names)

the hell giraffe is a big creature that can stretch it's neck to attack directly or swing to slash. it hunts down the sins of the souls who enjoy killing by cut opening throats or such as chokers

the top 10 most powerful hell creatures are
1 - hell ox
2- hell sheep
3- hell dragon
4-hell dog / wolf 's pack
5-hell horse
6- hell ant 3(king ant)
7-hell bat
8 hell goat
9-Hell antelope
10-hell shark 2

Hell creatures are rather a very rare race of species found in the hell world. They all share black blood seen on their backs, they are also covered in skeletal type body fragments. They are like bacteria, they don't breed but multiply only from their black blood. It's like evolution by cloning.They can also be described as reptilian types.
They can only be killed by using the hell iron which can be obtained only from their skeletal bones and by shadow creatures.
Anything god-like can terrify them and will try to escape in anyway they can.
Many different packs reside in the hell world.
Soulless creatures as they are, killing each other to become stronger.
Hell seekers (bounty hunters in hell) catch them for their hell iron, to build, mould and upgrade their weapons, like using natural resources on the real world.
Hell creatures commonly hate each other, because it's of their demonic nature, having sinful activities and feed on each other's flesh.
People know that hell tortures by flames of fire, but here these hellion creatures torture the sinful souls instead of seeing them burn in hell.

Model: My friend Elísa (Short hyperactive Icelandic/Norwegian Female! - Elísa Is Over The Age Of 18)

My friend Elísa had a few ideas once again for a shoot, and she still doing a load of work for her portfolio which I have seen and she is a stunning photographer.

I and Elísa really wanted to use the large Giraffe that I was given as a gift early in 2011 in one or two of our photograph shoots, and we did indeed use it. I call the Giraffe Patches by the way ha ha, and yes as I said we did get around to working out a shoot that used Patches the Giraffe. But I am sad to say that the lighting was really awful and I and Elísa really didnt like the end results from the shoot. Colouration was off; the photographs were to dark to really see any of the details.

We both agreed that when Mother Nature provided a better away of lighting we would attempt another shoot with Patches the Giraffe, and today was the day we arranged another shoot. Just had rain fall and a hail storm while we were getting ready for the shoot and that made a nice effect on the stone patio floor, which was lucky, How every all that hail and ice cold rain did cool the air down a little and once again so Elísa had to be outside in catsuit in about 4°C but she is tough!

In this shoot, Elísa is wearing her black Libidex Catsuit with Red trim, made by the fantastic Libidex, and the rubber open faced hood, again also from Libidex. She is also wearing riding hat, riding gloves and a Woof Wear equine body protector.

We tried to use a few new angles to take the photographs from as well in this shoot, and on the whole I and Elísa think that they worked well. But keeping in mind her project is photographs taken from behind, so we have to be carful on the angles that we can use for our photograph shoots.

With the better lighting provided by the fantastic Mother Nature, we really are pleased with the results for this recent photograph shoot. We have not seen many photographs like this around and so we are glad we have tried to once again be unique in how we present our artwork. This was hella awesome fun to shoot and plan out and we hope that you enjoy them as much as we enjoyed making them.

This is also our biggest photograph we have done today, 33 photographs in total.

Oh yes and if you are wondering what the small rectangles of plastic sheeting is on the patio its cling film to stop with Patches the Giraffes hooves from getting wet!

This is the first Giraffe painting I ever did. Sumbody slipped it into a show without me even knowing. It sold for around $10 if I remember correctly.

It's a traditional cartoon Giraffe on green backboard, a similar style that I have now had to agree to produce for every show I'm in.

First of a series of paintings I have planned celebrating Motherhood! Its pretty much all going to be baby animals and their moms, and I only have three that already have homes, this being one of them. Norm wants this one for his mom. :3

I LOVE doing these. I used this photo as reference for the piece. This is probably going to be the only one I will use a single photo for reference for, but any of them I post that do have that kind of reference, Ill link to the original photo.

I have looked at SO many mommy and baby animal pictures in the last couple of weeks It makes me really happy.

There are several different races of giraffe, distinguished by colouration and pattern. Giraffes normally live in small herds of 10 - 15 individuals, led by an adult male (bull). The mother gives birth while standing. At birth the single youngster may weigh 50 - 70 kg and reach 1.7 - 2m in height. It begins to eat solids after approximately 1 month and is fully weaned within a year.

Because of their great height, giraffes, which are ruminants (they chew the cud), are able to browse the uppermost branches of trees. Thus they face little competition from other herbivores. Their great height also gives them the advantage of seeing predators from a distance. They have few enemies beside humans. The time when they are most susceptible to attack from a lion is when they have their head lowered for drinking. When frightened they can reach speeds of 47 km/h (nearly 30 mph).

A bull giraffe may reach nearly 6m in height (over 18 ft). However, like most mammals (including humans) they have only 7 neck vertebrae, the bones being greatly elongated. giraffes have specially developed physiological adaptations to allow an even flow of blood to the brain when the neck is suddenly lowered or raised.
