D: I saved it as a .PNG so the details would stay, but...sorry in advance.

I will say something--I LOVE old-school Disney. Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Fantasia--it was all the stuff that sparked my imagination and creativity as a kid. The animation and its principles were so far ahead considering the time, and the movies were utmost enjoyable. Out of all of them, however, the one that stands out most in my mind is "Sleeping Beauty", mainly because of its colorful cast of characters. I LOVED Flora, Fauna and Merriweather, but hands-down the biggest badass in the movie was Maleficent, the villainess.

So I was talking with someone and Maleficent was brought up in the discussion--namely, her dragon form, which she uses to try and ward off Prince Phillip in the movie. I LOVED her dragon form as a kid, and I was sad when Phillip killed her, but that scene is one of the most memorable Disney scenes ever to me. A badass, beautiful, FEMALE dragon--very, very rare for that time, trust me. So we were having some fun and suddenly, my friend mentions it was his dream to own a Maleficent dragon-form plush. I thought it over, and I figured, "You know what, I'm going to try and tackle that." Being that I love dragon-Maleficent myself, it naturally gave me a lot of motivation.

At first I didn't think I could do it when I started drafting the pattern for the head, but over time I gained confidence, and worked my fingers to the bone for three days straight. What you're looking at now is the final result of my hard work--a full-fledged Maleficent-dragon plushie, my biggest work to date, and quite possibly my best.

The finished plush, overall, from the tip of the tail to the neck, is 33 inches long, and is about 18 inches high. She is made entirely out of minky, with felt details. She has crafting wire sewn into her neck and tail, which makes them poseable. The wing and frill membranes were made using a transparent purple silk I managed to find for a good bargain price at Jo-Ann Fabrics ;3 The head details were hand-painted, and I don't know if you can see it in the pictures, but her mouth does open.

Really, these pictures do not do the actual thing justice...she looks AMAZING in real life. I am just so proud of her, from her body to her little felt claws. I also couldn't find a good place to photograph her; the couch was too small...so now you can see what a friggin' mess my apartment is. XD

SHE IS NOT FOR SALE. Not now, not ever. She is going to a very special someone whom I hold close to my heart I also highly doubt I'm going to make one like her again, even though I did save the pattern for future reference. So far though, she is one-of-a-kind and I guess I'm going to keep it that way for now.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy these pictures anyway, and thanks for looking!

Maleficent's dragon form is owned by Disney
Plush pattern and details are entirely my own
