This is one of my favourite commissions, a design requested by for part of a pangolin costume, and I really recommend a trip through her tumblr to meet all sorts of wonderful characters and all kinds of beautiful art!

In response to questions: if you'd like to learn how to make stuff like this check out the Scale Mail Tutorial Page for a free tutorial on a super simple to add scales and any feedback you can give to improve it is massively appreciated there's even a pattern for sale now as well as the free tutorial!

I personally really like this sandy yarn I got in for it, and using the new style bronze scales were great to use since I've been unable to get hold of any bronze scales for ages! Due to the nature of variegated yarn the colour of the yarn bit up the wrists will vary between pairs, and doesn't even match within the pair, but they look more natural that way

I love the classic mori style vintage look of this and it's made using chunky yarn so is a bit thicker and warmer than my other scarves and as it's really cold out now I'm sure it will come in useful for someone!

Sadhat, Gladhat, and Madhat -- I think that about covers the entire human spectrum of emotion!

(They are, uh, more even than they appear here; they fit a bit oddly on my bust because she has a smaller head than I do.)

Gladhat and Madhat were done last winter, and I cast on for Sadhat, but then for some reason I didn't do any more on it until just a couple of days ago. Maybe that's why it's so sad.

I owe thanks to those who have written in to tell me who the genius creator of that was. Obvi-fuck-ously I did not, do not, and will never own the poptart cat. I just crocheted it.

Also, after I wrote prguitarman seeking his blessing, he gave me full permission to make and sell these. He even wanted one for himself. If you don't believe me, take it up with him.

Specifications:

Approximately 84" long and 5" wide, excluding fringe and removable poptart cat.

Materials used for scarf include: Caron Simply Soft in iris, blue mint, limelight, sunshine, mango, cherry red.

Materials used for poptart cat include: Bernat Satin in camel; Lion Brand Wool-Ease in oxford grey; 5/8" black buttons; DMC embroidery floss in pink; Bernat Satin Sport in black; Tulip brand slick fabric paint in light pink and pink.

Time: approximately four days, two of them all-nighters

Pictures taken at the local independent yarn shop. Photocollage made in approximately 45 minutes on MSPaint.

My entry for 's february contest. Jane Austen! Also the first price winner! Thank you guys!

I really didn't know what do do for this contest... I really wanted to enter, but I had no idea what to make! Everybody wanted to make lace shawls and so on for it, but I kinda wanted to do something different. After some time, I found the cowl you see here. I found four skeins of an old yarn that I got from my mother, and it was in this old/dust pink-ish color and 100% new wool. It was perfect! The cowl was finished quite fast and with the help from *Chidi-Chic I found a flower I could knit and put on it (the pattern had a crochet flower).

I was going to do a simple, thick looking, winter-ish shawl to go with it, but after screwing it up 4-5 times, and actually getting pretty far...I figured out that I didn't have enough yarn for it. So I ended up scrapping the whole thing!

Then, with alot of help from people from #Crafting-On-Camera and also other people outside of the chat, I ended up making these fingerless mittens. So I get to use the yarn I was going to use for the shawl on these, along with some of the leftovers from the cowl.

This mottled pink & teal hand-knit hat features a single Glaceon patch sitting just above the brim. This patch was made from felt & fabric paint and attached with fabric glue.

Glaceon is an Ice-type Pokémon. It evolves from Eevee when it is leveled up near an Ice Rock. It is one of Eevee's final forms, the others being Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, and Leafeon.

Pokedex Entries:
As a protective technique, it can completely freeze its fur to make its hairs stand like needles.
By controlling its body heat, it can freeze the atmosphere around it to make a diamond-dust flurry.
It causes small ice crystals to form by lowering the temperature of the surrounding atmosphere.

From devouring the deepest night sky the darkness dragon grows scales of the pure black and hides in the shadows. But now and then he sheds his skin, and hey presto, you have a pair of fabulous gloves! (just kidding, they're plain old aluminium scales, but if the darkness dragon did shed his skin near me I'd make some properly fabulous gloves)
No dragons were harmed in the making of these gauntlets! They're artificially imitated by knitting black scales onto a soft yarn base for maximum stretchy-comfyness with your uber awesome dragon look. I'd like to make some extra long, fully scaled all the way round (minus palms) gloves in all black some day I really love how they look

Jack Frost Scarf

A hand-knitted scarf that's roughly 6' long and 9" wide, made of acrylic yarn. Features a Jack Frost (Dreamworks' "Rise of the Guardians") on one end, and a snowflake (modeled after the one he tosses out into the audience at the end of the film) on the other. I made the patterns, the links are below. I did make some minor modifications to the Jack one for this scarf--an extra black stitch here or there. The patterns were not separately sewn into the scarf, they are actually knitted into it seamlessly using exchanges/switches in the color of yarn.
_{So I have a minor problem with this thing. It won't lie flat. The only reason it's flat here is because I rolled it out. The sides will curl up and it'll become a scarf tootsie roll. I've steamed it (holding the iron an inch or two from the scarf's surface and pressing the steam button while moving it up and down the scarf), as I have my past scarves, and it still rolls up as if nothing was done to it. I did it on both sides, and still nothing. Can anyone suggest any other household methods for getting this thing to stay spread out and laying flat? I don't have a clothing steamer, so that's out. Thanks ahead of time for any suggestions.
Update: I tried sticking the whole thing under several heavy books for about 20 hours. It didn't work at all.}

Fullmetal Alchemist Armwarmers

A pair of Fullmetal Alchemist-inspired armwarmers. I made the charts/patterns for them and then hand-knitted them. The left one has the crest found on Ed's coat, and the right one is made to make you look like you have an automail arm.

Made to fit the average woman. 7" around, but they fit me comfortably (I have a very small wrist and arm). Mildly stretchy. Extremely awesome.

Time to knit: 10 days

Knit entirely in the round with no seams. Intarsia. Hearts on elbows added using duplicate stitch.

If I knit this again, I would have used duplicate stitch to add the heart and contrast lines on the chest which would have cut down on a lot of bobbins needed.

Pink Pearl Bunny Scarf

I've been making a lot of scarves recently even though the weather has been getting milder, but I figure it's nearly winter in the southern hemisphere so someone out there will be looking for some cute warm accessories

I wanted to make this one extra cute so used some cute peal buttons I had for eyes and added a little ribbon rose, I think the white and pink combination works so well together and the one I always seem to turn to when making pink bunnies.

This is another one of my vegan friendly scarves, I've only made the 2 bunnies for now but I'll be stalking my wool shop for some more cute yarn so there should hopefully be more to come in the new year.

This scarf is made from polyacrylic yarn and filled with natural kapok stuffing so it's completely vegan friendly as no animal fibers of any kind are used in it.

White Rabbit Hat for Rin-Kun

Our first earred hat. Based on Alice in Wonderland's White Rabbit, this white hat has ears measuring approximately 2'6" long by 3.5" wide. This was our first attempt at dying a pattern into a 'scarf, and there was slight leaking through to the 'back' of the ears. Regardless, it was deemed a success by the requester and she is sure to enjoy it for some time to come.

This hat was commissioned by ~Rin-kun.

Head and tail are stuffed with polyfill, everything is machine washable.
It's wearable when wrapped, or for extra LOOOOONG don't wrap it.
