No porn but instead a great [link] tatoo design. Citing: "This is my, and it seems pretty much everyone else's favorite out of the new tribal werewolves I've done. I just want to snuggle him to peices." My feelings were only a little bit cooler when I saw it and then I though, what the hell, I want to make it. Especially that after a while of observation I noticed this is one piece without disjointed isles and as such can be made as cut-out, not just engraving. I offered a trade on terms even more vague than usually and Nashoba agreed After I finished it and saw the ready pendant, yeah, I wanted to snuggle it to pieces too

I wanted to make such one for long now, but couldn't find a good project. Quite challenging from technical standpoint, two out of four pieces had to be abandonned due to tool breaking during the work, damaging them. First deep, steep-walled engraving in one side of 7mm brass with 3 conical tools, then flipping the material upside down and removal layer by layer, by the end in 0.05mm layers till I could just extract the ready pendant from the material tearing through paper-thin brass.

It looks very differently on dark and on bright backgrounds, so the photo shows both pendants I completed succesfully. One goes to Nashoba, I keep the other, so that we both can snuggle them to pieces
I pretty much cut it in 1/2 because a 20yd skirt takes A LOT of fabric which would cost me more money than I was willing to shell out and plus it would just be A LOT OF FABRIC, period. That's a big frickin skirt. As it worked out this skirt ended up with only about a 7yd hem because I'm still learning how to use my ruffler foot on my sewing machine and didn't set it to gather as tightly as it could have. It's made out of a light weight cotton accented with a batik print cotton (that was an after thought actually, but it really made it for me)

The Belt

This has been a work in progress for year now. I made it when I first started belly dancing, mainly for practice (because those chiffon hip scarves shed coin like mad). It had a hook and eye closure on one side and a bunch of washers for jingles (I love using washers in coin belts, they have such a lovely sound if you get the right ones!). Well, it never fit *quite* right and took a lot of abuse as a practice belt so when I realized the colors look fabulous with my newly made skirt I decided it was time for a makeover.

I cut the sucker in 1/2 and added ties on each side. I hacked off all the washer (mainly because they would get in the way with the rest of my work, but they may be put back later) and added braided boucle yarn to the belt itself and in swags off the front and back. Then I spent most of my free time sewing on cowrie shells...lots of cowrie shells (I cleaned out 2 stores...granted neither of then had too many in stock...but still). And voila! Still not 100% finished to my satisfaction...but nothing ever is.

Apologies for the bad pictures. I set the time on my camera and ran for it. Eventually I should have pictures of the full costume (but I haven't decided on a style for the top yet...so if you've got ideas....)

One of many to come!*

This simple but elegant piece has been a project in waiting for me. The multicolored beads were the inspiration behind it, but I had no pendant or idea what to make. I just kept thinking "turtles" because the pattern on the beads looks like a turtle shell to me. Then I got this pendant in a random batch of pendants I ordered. Personally I think it looks like a tribal turtle pendant, and it's made from ceramic. The necklace was finally brought forth when I saw this. The beads, colors, and pendant were so perfect! I didn't want to make a choker though. Instead I made this loose necklace.

The necklace has glass pearls in a warm brown color to represent the beach as well as the pearls found in clams in the sea. The glass green glass chips are representative of how life found near the shoreline, and the turtle shell patterned beads are the inspiration behind it all. I chose dark and light green cords to represent kelp/seaweed and the brown to represent the sands.
*There have been requests that I make looser pieces, so here ya go!

The looseness of it all is like the sea itself...it flows, moves, and breathes.

From top of necklace to bottom of pendant: 11 in/28 cm
From end to end: 19.5 in/49.5 cm

The matching braclet/anklet can be found here: [link]

**The cords I used are made of cotton, not hemp.**
