I think the reason I found this so ungodly fun is because when I was a kid--lo these many moons ago--I loved my My Little Ponies, and used them to act out stories...but probably not the kind that the manufacturers would expect. The minds of children, as Stephen King once wrote, are like deep wells of clear water. And this is true enough, but there are monsters in those wells, and some of 'em have a bunch of eyes and really big teeth. So my stories were all full of blood and torture and death and forced marriages*, sort of Quentin Tarantino meets Marguerite Henry, all acted out via My Little Ponies, and their cohorts, the little scented rubber animals that came with the Strawberry Shortcake dolls. (I had no particular use for the dolls.)

Next to some of those stories, My Leper Pony's probably pretty tame, but it's still nice to return in some small way to that well of childhood creative depravity.

Leperlot started life as a G3 Love-a-Belle, was painted sickly grey-green, re-tailed with the scurfiest, most diseased looking yarn I could find, and boils were sculpted from polymer clay and painted. Bandages were added with Rigid Wrap (a type of plaster cloth) painted, and sealed with acrylic matte medium. Bits of mane were glued in under the bandages, but I didn't do a full re-root. The "Unclean" sign is made from painted acid-free matboard, and I photoshopped together a parody of the packaging, printed in on matte heavyweight, and taped it in over the original. (Sadly, despite all the tape visible in the photos, there is still less than was on the original package. Hasbro likes their tape.)

This is my first alteration of a My Little Pony, and you don't want to know how much fun I had.

I will probably be e-baying Leperlot at some point in the near future--my journal'll have the details.


EDIT: I'm told by other members of the pony modding community that Hasbro apparently doesn't like box modifications, so wanting to respect their wishes there--after all, they furnished my depraved childhood adventures!--I'm removing the box art, just in case.

I can also do commission OC ponies, with an added price because I might need to buy extra things if your pony is hectic~

Sculpted 3D flower on head design, complimentary ribbon and bow on neck (non-removable)

Symbol has has been embellished with Swarovski crystals

I couldn't resist this pony. After doing Corpsey all that time ago I planned this pony, who couldn't. Hasbro created a pony they call Parasol with umbrella's as the emblem, and Resident Evil created a Zombie related corporation called the Umbrella corporation. It lends itself so perfectly to being remixed together. Presenting my Umbrella Pony. She has Parasols skin and hair colourings and umbrella emblem, however the umbrellas have been given Umbrella corporation colours. The pony has also been given Zombie features such as an exposed cheek bone, gauged out eye and exposed back leg. ]]>

I tried my hardest to make this pony's clothing as close to the real costume as possible. The pony was a white G3 My Little Pony rehaired with Katsilk hair in shades of black and brown and also Mohair in black to create the dreadlocks. The mustache and goatee are made from mohair rooted into the ponies face, no glue involved. The outfit was made from Apoxie Clay and painted to match the real costume. All of the beads in the hair (including the sail needle, coins and silver dangly thing, lol) were handmade from Apoxie Clay and/or beading wire. They are insanely tiny. The bandana is a piece of fabric and is not removable as it has been sewn into the hair so that it will stay in position. All of the painted surfaces were painted in acrylics and sealed. Last but not least, the compass was hand-sculpted from Apoxie Clay, painted and sealed. It's about 1/2" square and has a wire loop on the back so it can be hung around the ponies neck. One of the biggest highlights of the weekend was doing MLP cosplay with my friends.

The purple wig was from Ebay for only $20. Didn't need to do any styling (LOL THAT ALMOST NEVER HAPPENS FOR ME).

I made the dress using Vogue Pattern 2880 (The longer one here: [link] ). I used a blue ribbon for the lacing down the side; it creates diamond-shaped negative space! (hurhur I am so clever).
Making this dress was a pain in the butt; The pattern itself wasn't too difficult to follow, but it was very time-consuming. Took me about a week because of all the ruffles (The ruffles along the bottom alone took 4.5 hours to hem, and then another several hours to gather and sew onto the skirt). It was my first time sewing with Chiffon, which wasn't as bad as I expected. My biggest piece of advice for this pattern is to make sure you assemble the foundation properly (don't exclude boning, interfacing, & stay tape) and make sure it is tailored properly to your body before attaching it to the rest of the dress. A friend of mine told me from experience that the pattern runs big; so I used a bigger seam allowance for the whole dress, and then I also had to bring in the seams again in the front and back of the foundation.

She was made from a Hasbro G3 blank white pony that I rerooted with rainbow hair in pastel shades. The saddle and neck pieces were all sculpted from Apoxie Clay, painted with acrylics and sealed. She is a 25th Anniversary themed pony because her saddle has the logos for all 3 generations of ponies on it. The rainbow with cloud logo for the G1's, the rainbow swirl logo for the G2's and the Heart with a heart logo for the G3 ponies. The white ribbon edging with the little birds was taken from the packages of the G1 ponies. The little flowers were sculpted and a Swarovski crystal placed within each one. Her little tiara is removable and made with beading wire and Swarovski crystals and beads.

I plan to eventually sell her after the Pony Project contest is completed...sometime in late July. ]]>
