Several comments and debates on 9Gag, facebook and whatsoever whether these are two males or not, however, do irk me, because even if these would be two males: WHO CARES about their gender anyway, that is not even the point of this comic - so please cut it out, lay back and just enjoy some laughter this thing may bring you, because that is the only reason why it exists. Thanks, *ReincarnatedParano ! Great idea. :] This was a lot of fun. I like the idea of encouraging thought about specific character expressiveness versus expressiveness on the whole.
Like, I mean, anyone can draw their character having a 'eureka' moment hitting their fist into an open palm. Sure, it gets the point across, but really sitting back and thinking about just how this particular character shows this particular expression.. that's a good exercise. Even characters that generally don't show much emotion could benefit greatly, through showing subtle body language.

Hope you don't mind me editing a few things with the layout. (Had to make the character fit and stuff!)

I really appreciate everyone that commented on my Mary Jane piece and even took some of the critiques some of you gave and tried to incorporate them into this one. Mostly concerning the hands and softening the face a bit. I also wanted to practice doing shiney surfaces on clothing. Since Black Cat wears shiney black leather and is, for lack of a better word, curvacious I thought it would be good practice. Doing hard lighting on a uniform surface is difficult enough bbut doing them on something that is constantly changing as it moves and taking all the curves of the body into account is quite a feat. I decided to place her on a black background to add to the mystery of her character and make the highlights define her form a bit more. Also included a white background version so you can see the entire body. The drawing was done very simply using very few lines since I knew it was going to be on a black background and I was going to have her fade ot black.
Piece done in pencil and digitally colored in photoshop 5.5. Some people have asked how to color hold the linework. What you want to do is level out your drawing in photoshop until it's all black(no grey areas), then you change the drawing to bitmap with 50% threshold(this turns the drawing to pure black and white). Now change your drawing back to greyscale and create a duplicate layer of your linework. Next, you select your magic wand tool and make sure the little boxes marked 'anti-aliased' and 'contigious' are unchecked. Now select any white area of the duplicate layer and it will select all the white on that layer. Simply hit delete and it takes all the white away leaving a floating layer of linework. You should now have 2 layers of linework(one with white and one without) go to your original layer with the white and fill in entirely with white so there's no linework. Now you should have a bottom layer of white with a top layer of linework. Once you've done this you can change the image of CMYK or RGB. To color over the lines, simply select the linework layer and make sure the 'preserve transparency' box is checked. Now you can select any color you want and brush over the linework layer and it will only color the lines. Simply make a 3rd layer for your regular colors and you're in business!! Keep in mind this is simply my way of doing it and I've heard of others doing using channels so don't take this as the only way. I tend to work in a comfort zone which isn't always the fastest so ask around and find what works best for you. Hope that helps!

So here's the collection of all the individual designs i have for the girls, all together in a line up! YAY!

Before anyone asks, i will NOT be doing any other girls. sorry if your favorite character isn't here. my reasoning is this, since all of these girls are the main characters in the story im writing to go along with this pictures. so thats why i focus on them

WELP.

I've got to say. dA. You guys. You really hit me hard with this one. And I don't mean just having to draw several hundred characters at a time.

The sheer volume of creative drive on this site is astounding. Each and every one of those characters up there, I looked over, read up on some backstory, got a bit familiar with then sketched them down.

All those stories waiting to be told. It's un-be-lievable.So much artistic energy in one place. It just. Yeah. I was very happy to work on something like this, big sketchy mess it may be, and I wanted to thank everyone who contributed their characters to the pile. You're amazing.

Now get the heck out there and start telling those stories.

God, my eyes hurt from coloring this. Not to mention the background totally destroyed my B01 marker ;3; Please excuse the 13201293012948 bleeds everywhere. I attempted to save space and time so I drew it tiny (bad idea) orz;;

Midterms are finally done so I took a break to finish this ohohoho. Now I should get back to real work OTL;;;

In my 2 years of drawing Spider-man for Marvel in various books, I've never had to draw Mary Jane for some reason which is a travesty since I think she probably the hottest girl in the Marvel universe. I've noticed that I haven't drawn many 'hot chicks' in my artistic career and needed to brush up on them since a lot of the best artists in comics are known for their beautiful women. For this piece I was thinking a lot about the master of beautiful women, Adam Hughes. he has the ability to draw the most gorgeous girls with just a few pencil strokes so I wanted to try and figure out what makes his drawings pop so well. Not that I was trying to imitate his style but more the technique with was originally made popular by the racey 'good girl' art posters of the 40s and 50s. So, in truth, I guess I was trying to illulate the poster artists that influenced Adam's work.
This piece was done entirely in Pencil and digitally colored in photoshop 5.5. Took me a while since I'm not a very fast colorist and I wanted to try a smoother style than the cell shading I usually do. I get a lot of messages asking how I color my stuff and, to be honest, I don't know. Everything I do is entirely trial and error so I don't have a technique I can share that would help anyone, sorry guys. Hope you dig it!!

Done in an Alphonse Mucha style. Penciled and then inked with Copic 3.0 india ink pen and colored in photoshop 5.5. Only reference used was for the tiger. For those not familiar, Emma was previously the White Queen of the Hellfire Club and mortal enemy of the X-Men. Recently she has changed sides and become the head mistress of the Xavier Institute in charge or training young mutants. Been trying to think of a good name for the piece so shout out any ideas and maybe I'll use it for the prints.

When I started developing the look of the characters for Young Justice back in 2009, Dick Graysons Robin was the first hero I sat down to draw. I'm pretty sure Nightwing was the first character I designed for the second season, bringing the experience kind of full circle. I guess I really dig the character.

This is the first page for Marvel Age: Spider-man number 4 which will feature Spider-man fighting Dr. Doom. This is by far my favorite page from the entire 4 issue series Dan and I did so I thought it was high time I put it up. This, in my opinion, is some of Danimation's finest work as is evident in the reflections in the goggles and other small details. I made the image purposely big so you can see all the little things Dan and I did in this piece. If you ever make it out to one of the bigger cons in the U.S. come by and find me since I usually sell copies of this as prints.

OK I'm having fun with this DA thing so I've dug waaaaaaay back and found this... the first drawing of The Powerpuff Girls (then the Whoopass Girls) ever! Done in 1991, ( Gaaah 17 years ago!!) if it looks strange it's 'cause it was done on orange construction paper only 1 inch big.

Notice Bubbles' and Buttercup's colors are switched. I actually remember changing it by the second drawing.

I've been cranking out too many completed works, so I'm taking a break with a few speed chibis. Well...not really speed. Each of them still took a good 15-30 minutes. I fail hard at being speedy OTL;; I left some uncolored since my pencil sketches hardly ever see the light of day.

~~Sooo.... although it is just a DOODLE (no crits, thx, I'm going to scrap it anyway), I have to explain this and that to you...~~

This picture has been stuck in my head for over two weeks, I tried to draw it 3 or 4 times... And the story behind it is as follows:- my car has been broken for several weeks - and thus I was forced to go to school by bus. As it usually takes about an hour to get there, I took my mp4 player with me... I adore that feeling, when I can imagine that I sing and dance, free - even in the biggest crowd! So I kept daydreaming, when I suddenly noticed that the bus was literally full of ppl listening to their own players! Just a few were talking, the rest sat silently, with their eyes nearly closed and their earphones on. And that was the moment when I thought that possibly all of them were dancing and singing in their heads...

Anyway, that was kind of a sad view, to be honest ;_;

I meant to upload this on Wednesday as part of my crusade to update twice every week (Sundays and Wednesdays), even if it meant just a five minute doodle, but I got kind of caught up in work.

It was a lot of fun just sketching. .whatever. Mostly robo-peoples, a plugsuit girl in a very particular purple and green, and one orange big-eyed cat.

Hope you guys don't mind seeing stuff like this every week. I think I find sketchy stuff more fun than polished things. Or at the very least, way more relaxed.. which is an attitude I could benefit from regarding art, nowadays.

Teen Titans Go 001

This is a limited edition Teen Titans Go print I made a couple years back. It was limited to 100 copies, it was available at conventions I attended, and has since sold out.

I spent 5 years drawing the Teen Titans Go! comic book series for DC Comics. It was based on the show and we got to do stories that tied into certain episodes.
The first 25 issues have been collected into digests. And there is currently one comic-sized trade paperback.

Thought I'd post the pic here for all the TTG fans to see.
