I will be pencilling and inking FOUR alternate covers for IDW's new mini-series, MARS ATTACKS JUDGE DREDD! These collector covers will interlock to create one large poster image. Colors on these covers are being done by my pal, Steve Downer ! These have been a blast to work on, and I'm having a great time creating them, so I hope you'll support me by picking up copies of MARS ATTACKS JUDGE DREDD that feature my covers! If you're not into alternate covers, "Gorgeous" Greg Staples is painting up the regular covers, so you really can't go wrong!

Here's a look at the the alternate cover for MARS ATTACKS JUDGE DREDD #1! It features a tip of the hat to the original Topps MARS ATTACKS card series from 1962. I came up with a totally new card, but I tried to stay true to the classic fun theme of the original card series. The outer space star pattern was created by first putting down a layer of SuperBlack India Ink, and then masking off the other artwork elements with Scotch 3M Removable Tape. I cut out the tape carefully using an x-acto knife, and then I dipped an old toothbrush into a bottle of Pelikan Graphic White paint, soaking the bristles. I (carefully) flicked the paint-soaked bristles with my thumb, sending spatters of paint through the air and onto the board, creating white speckles (stars). It is a classic, traditional technique for creating BWS (AKA: Black With Stars) in comics. It's a very cool effect, and what you see here is exactly what's on the original artwork! I learned to do this technique many years ago at the JOE KUBERT SCHOOL OF ART. The line work on the card, Earth, spaceships and the Moon were done using B pencils, SpeedBall SuperBlack India Ink and a Sharff 3000 series #3 inking brush.

I will post the color version of this cover here on DA very soon. Until it shows up, please show the black & white art some love! Faves are greatly appreciated, folks!

I was bored and thought about these two together, so I thought of making a short comic about them. So here's how the story goes

Amy was taking a nice walk in the woods, wondering where her blue blur prince was. Suddenly, she heard voices from far and decided to look where those voices where coming from. She hid behind a tree and spotted Sonic and Sally together. She was about to approach Sonic and give him her famous death hugs, but she noticed both of them talking and showing lovey-dovey eyes to each other. Heartbroken, she ran away before Sonic or Sally notices her presence. She ran in the middle of the woods and stopped to catch her breath. Finally, she broke down and sank down.

Amy:"I've chased him for so long, did everything I could to try to impress him...to fall in love with me...but my efforts were in vain. Now...he's with another and I can't do nothing about it...why am I always the one to be left alone."

Suddenly, she felt someone poke her on the head and she instantly brought her head up.

Amy: "S-Shadow!"

Shadow stood there and handed her a beautiful rose.

Shadow: "You were never alone Rose, you just didn't look close enough".

Amy: "Shadow..."

Amy jumped toward Shadow and embraces him.

Shadow: "R-Rose!"

Amy: "You're right, I wasn't looking enough...thank you Shadow".

Shadow smiles and embraces her in return.

Garnet and Diego decide to not deal with Shal's continuous screams as Diego uses a voice silencing collar on Shal. For DNA purposes, only with his touch will the collar be unclipped . Kai on the other hand who is disgruntled endlessly, he figures the assailants know he's not totally helpless and proves his point by magically rooting him in place.

That feel when you're eager to move onto different scenes lmao I feel I've probably drawn more angry/indignant faces of Kai in the last several pages than I've done in a previous year lawl}

"The Real History of GI Joe" part 5 of 5 researched, written & illustrated by me!

This is from a series of variant covers I was commissioned to create for IDW's relaunched GI Joe comic book, with interiors written by Fred Van Lente and drawn by Steve Kurth. IDW had previously published The Comic Book History of Comics, and asked me to give GI Joe the same treatment. This is a HUGE thrill for me, since I've been a die-hard GI Joe fanboy for as long as I can remember - the Larry Hama and Herb Trimpe series is one of my all-time favorite reads and the first action figure I ever owned was old Eagle Eye Joe himself! My son is a big GI Joe fan too, and I snuck him in in the last panel.

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!!! My comic strip covers ended up being a HUGE hit with Hasbro, IDW, retailers and fans, so they asked me to do more! "MARCY MALONE: INTERN OF COBRA" written and illustrated by me starts with GI Joe #7 in August!

Illustrated in Photoshop, lettered with Illustrator.
