It's about blocking out the kind of distraction and negativity that derails the artistic process. What artists need to worry about most is making their art and to not get involved in all the BS. Absorb all the valid feedback and let the rest just bounce off.

After getting some feedback, I'd like to elaborate a little bit on some of the thoughts I've had in response.

The first is that these people are not necessarily 'bad guys'. They represent forces that often cause an artist to become upset, reactive, wasteful of energy. (I picked the ones I see people becoming the most upset about on DeviantART and on the internet in general. I personally have no problem with people who copy my work, but some people do). The artist is the filter and it is the artist who decides how these people hurt or help their ability to make art. There will always be trolls, haters, critics, copiers, feedback both good and bad, and the artist must always express themselves in spite of this, to take in what is useful to them, let the rest go, and not get caught up in their own negativity. This ideal artist is not at war with a hostile environment but at peace with reality.

Secondly, I've made it into a print (as per requested) but am also allowing the full DL of the original drawing for anyone who wants to print it out and just hang it up in their work space as a little reminder. ]]>

I'm a chubby little geek girl, but in every school or workplace I've been to there has always been one or two guys who liked me, ranging from total geeks to the football hero. So obviously not all men want a "bimbo". You just have to keep your eyes open.

And I'm the living proof that not all women want "jerks", seeing as I only have eyes for nice guys with manners, and couldn't care less if he has a nice car (In fact, don't ever try to impress me with your car. It's a major turn off for me). And no, I'm not a rare breed. Like I said, open your eyes.

So don't blame it on others that you tend to fall in love with people who don't like your type.

Perhaps choosing the word "got" would have been better? If you think I'm suggesting he was the one who physically took Bin Laden's life, then you're just being stupid. Obama (while he didn't start the program) is the one who ordered the military strike which resulted in Bin Laden's death. I summed it up to make a point, so please... stop arguing semantics.

The PROCESS:I penciled and inked this piece using mostly PITT artist pens on a toothy bristol board so that I could later get this textured surface to her outfit using essentially a "black crayon"! I didn't want to do the typical "shiny leather" on this outfit since it appeared that this costume had much more of a matte finish in the film. I remembered seeing Adam Hughes do a similar effect years ago when I was fortunate to share a studio space with him and it stayed with me. I was rather pleased with how it came out!

Brian has been an elder statesman over at the very well known Gaijin Studios for some time and has influenced many, many artists, including teaching Adam Hughes to paint! The perspective on the 3rd panel is a little off (though I imagine that the Octorocks are sitting up on rocks, thus explaining why Link is so short there). I wish I had framed it better but... oh well...

The idea for the comic came from when after looking for clothes in a normal store and finding nothing that fit, went to one of the fat lady stores and the woman said, "I'm sorry, but I think you're just not fat enough to shop here" after I had tried on a million different things.

By the way, the first dress I'm wearing in the comic is supposed to be one of those classic flower-print summer dresses which I failed horribly at coloring.

EDIT: Haha! No one has ever said "Get out you're too [...]" to me. I made them say that for joke effect. Neither am I sad that she told me I wasn't fat enough to shop there. Made me quite happy actually. It just made it a pain to find clothes. So you don't have to try and cheer me up. This is supposed to be funny!
