Blaze used the common or garden Disney Princesses but since I'm in a more righteous mood of late I chose less appreciated heroines.

If you can't tell which ones, I really suck at this. Although, I do suck at cowboy hats. When will I learn? And Wanda is totally not digging the gypsy garb - who does a girl gotta hex to get a pair of shoes around here?

I have kind of an issue with the whole Disney Princess thing. First off, they're unrealistic - NOBODY'S waist is that thin in comparison to their hips. Secondly, they don't set the best example. Sleeping Beauty? She lies there and makes the place look good. THAT'S what you want your daughters to emulate is it? Snow White cooks and cleans for a bunch of dudes, then lies there and makes the place look good. Ariel SELLS her frickin' voice for legs. She doesn't need to talk to charm her prince, she's just so awesome to look at. HOLY SHIT PEOPLE!!! Belle, I can live with - she's a nerd. And Mulan is cool, she manages to be a klutz and kick ass at the same time. I very much wanted to be Pocahontas when I was little, and it's probably where I got the long hair fetish from.

I don't particularly like Jessie, Wendy or Tinkerbell but they're less appreciated. Okay, Tink isn't but Tabitha IS like Tinkerbell. I much prefer Jane from Tarzan, Esmerelda and Megara from Hercules (even though her business deals weren't the best). Especially Jane, she's British, she's a spectacular dork, she has a talent for drawing AND she gets her man at the end. *snarky voice* But she's not a Princess so she doesn't count. Yeah, 'coz being a globe-trotting zoologist (or whatever she and her father were) is WORTHLESS. Princess Aurora spits on you and your achievements. PAH!

So I'm quite pleased with how Tabitha and Rogue turned out. Kitty and Jean are meh. The original Wanda I did for this was so crap I went back and re-did her entirely today.

And I started on some shading on Rogue but I got sick of the whole thing and gave up.

This was basically an experiment. It’s the first completely digital thing I’ve ever drawn; no pencil&paper sketch beforehand. I think it shows. I’m not very happy with this as a whole, but I guess it’s okay as a first attempt and no real references (maybe that’s where I erred…). Also a first shot on texture. That at least turned out pretty nicely.

Anyway, it’s Riley and Melee. She didn’t even know Melee when she was that young, but I wanted them in the picture. And her hair is supposed to be blown up by the wind, I just redrew it so many times I lost some of the fluidity of the sketch.

On his death, their cousin Lady Jane Grey was at first proclaimed queen. Mary assembled a force in East Anglia and successfully deposed Jane, who was ultimately beheaded. In 1554, Mary married Philip of Spain, becoming queen consort of Habsburg Spain on his accession in 1556.

As the fourth crowned monarch of the Tudor dynasty, Mary is remembered for her restoration of Roman Catholicism after the short-lived Protestant reign of her half-brother. During her five-year reign, she had over 280 religious dissenters burned at the stake in the Marian Persecutions. She only half-heartedly supported a number of ineffective, poorly resourced military campaigns in the Netherlands, France, and Ireland. In the mid-1580s, war with Spain could no longer be avoided, and when Spain finally decided to attempt to conquer England in 1588, the failure of the Spanish Armada associated her with one of the greatest victories in English history.

Elizabeth's reign is known as the Elizabethan era, famous above all for the flourishing of English drama, led by playwrights such as William Shakespeare and Christopher Marlowe, and for the seafaring prowess of English adventurers such as Sir Francis Drake.
