I saw the Freespire dA contest for wallpappers and I decided to participate, althought I had never made a wallpaper before...

I tried to make the image with two diferent plans to be atractive and relaxing at the same time.
I don't know if you think the same way I do, but always liked ice and mountain landscapes and I think they are very beautiful so I tried to a PM about it.

Hope you like! And your sugestions are welcome the deadline is only at 4th August.

I took this photo from the dock across from my grandfather's house. Lovely evening, eh? I really liked it because of the water, the sky and the sunset, and you can see the Empire State Building (eh, it's kind of hard in this shot, I'm sorry). Anyways, enjoy this piece and I'll have more from this trip on the way.

I was bored, and without an alarm clock. So, I stayed up all night working on this one, and I like it better. It's simpler, and blue is a nice, serene color, opposing to the skull it portrays. I decided I'd rather submit this one, and see if there is a way to delete my first submission to the freespire contest.

Well, after realizing the effect I used in my last wallpaper was endlessly overused in this contest, I decided to take my thoughts in a different route.

One of the themes for the freespire contest was "community". Well when it comes to an online sense of community, it feels a great deal less literal. When I think of a digital community I always picture these huge masses of wires. The very wires that connect us all.

So I played around with a few ideas, and decided "well, wires themselves aren't all that exciting to look at". Then I thought well, what about the electricity running through them?

So this piece signifies millions of little light beams, acting as a source and a means of connection.

i decided to give it a try... i read all the rules more than one time, and when i saw the logo i liked this one particularly ^^

im not sure what type of wallpaper they want, and when i saw all the other wallpapers they where mostly 3D and loads different from mine..

i like to do wallpapers, and htis is my style, everything here is done on Photoshop 6.0 (apart the logo + butterfly of course!) with the brushes given by photoshop, and the filters there are.. so hope you people like it ^^

Concept: a community of "freepires" (nod to the product) stretched over an open sea, reflecting the night sky.

This is my entry for the Freespire wallpaper contest. I decided to really stretch myself, and I applied a lot of stuff that I knew how to do in *theory* but had never actually taken a hand to before. Some stuff went bust--I had originally intended for the two spires to be connected, but what looked cool in my head looked terrible in practice. I did get some valuable practice in UF4, though, with textures and other things I was only vague aware how to work with. I also learned that UF has a nifty feature that allows you to save as a .PSD and preserve your layers, which made my life all sorts of easier.

I did a *LOT* of postwork in photoshop on this one, because I simpy couldn't get UF to do a few of the things I wanted. And then a little tweaking led to more tweaking, led to the second tower, and so on...

I will have a version of this piece up in prints (without the logo) in the next few days. I'm in the middle of moving, so please be patient.

UF4, 8 hours, 12 hours of render time, PSCS2 7 hours.

WARNING: If you're on dial-up, do not full view! While This image is about half of the file size of most of the other images in the contest, it is still an overall large image, and I don't want you crying to me if you full view and it takes forever to load.

Ok. So I went and redid this using the right logo and i think everything turned out well. the only thing i'm concerned about is that --after-- i finished, i thought it looked a mighty lot like Flash's Logo.
