I probably don't make a chance, but what the heck.

Here's my entry for the James & The Giant Peach,
the place I daydream of.

I dream of a beautiful place with bright light and vibrant colors.
That's me walking with an umbrella to keep cool in the hot sun.

Gone Fishing was a piece I created for the Disneys James and the Giant Peach Daydream Contest. The goal was to portray an imaginative daydream landscape where you go to escape reality.

Its a bit different than my usual genre and style but I wanted something bright, kid-friendly and fun. The concept itself was inspired by my 7 year old son who has a vivid imagination and loves adventure.

If I had the opportunity to escape the real world, Id be his age again, carefree and young. How great would it be to take off on your dogs back and go fishing for giant-sized goldfish swimming through the sky.

Every imaginary world is a totally twisted version of the real world. I personally love looking at the real world in a bright way. So... that's where I would escape... even if I prefer facing my problems than running from reality.

By the way, I'm the strange-looking yellow bunny on the right !

It's my first complete background. All the other backgrounds I've done so far were either speedpaintings, either half-assed-because-I-didn't-know-how-to draw. (I still don't know how to draw backgrounds though !)
And from far my biggest drawing.
And probably the drawing that took me the longest time to draw.
And also my, best, illustration, ever.

I've never been so satisfied by a drawing in my life. I thought my level was being worse and worse because my colored sketch commission (that weren't great from the start...) were becoming worse and worse, but it looks like I'm wrong.

It looks like I'm becoming more patient, and that I use less and less "helping" tools like brightness&contrasts/color balance retouches, or things like that. Maybe I'm improving AND growing up.

Anyway... I don't know if you'll understand the meaning of this sentence but :

TinToy Express, a painting that really reflects my thoughts and art styles. I reused some of the characters from my previous artwork, for instance, Papu Papu from the series [link] the Baboon Gentleman and Chinese Dragon from Flying Parade [link] as well as the Glowing Chicks from Farmland Parade [link] . Besides that, there is also a boy character with a helmet that will help him fly like Dumbo ( inspired by a friendly joke made by my friend on me ) and Mr Hamster created by a good friend of mine [link] .

When I was a kid, I treasured a small cylindrical jar, about the height of a thumb, filled with star-shaped confetti of all different colors. Those shiny stars could have decorated plenty of elementary school art projects, but didn't.

Nope. That confetti was expressly reserved for sprinkling from the windows when a boy and a band of oversized insects arrived in their giant peach.

Ohhh there are so many other silly things I used to do, like wear those handle-less umbrella hat contraptions and/or pretend to fight crime in the tennis courts on rollerblades. And there are so many silly things I STILL do, like getting sound legal advice from the clouds. It's reassuring to know that, in some ways, childhood isn't too terribly far behind you.

It's been ten years and that little jar is still full of stars. Maybe there are some dreams we must never surrender.

As a child I loved playing around rocky cliffs and climbing trees. I was always making tree houses and club houses out of scrap wood that was always laying around my back yard. Plus, my favorite season is autumn so I wanted to combine all these elements for this contest for my dream place. This is my cliff village among the rocks and trees during the autumn season. Hope you enjoy. I will be doing another view showing more of the houses and dwellings but not sure if that view will make the contest deadline.

_{This photomanipulation was inspired by Samuel Taylor Coleridge's poem "Kubla Khan," which can be found on my profile. I always envisioned the most fantasticly otherworldy place when I read that poem, and this is my attempt to show what it looks like in my mind. I use books, music, art and my imagination when I need to escape, as I'm sure many people do. There is no point to life without the ability to dream.

Also the title is from a song by Blue Stone. I'm just not very good at titling things so I usually just use a song title. This one kind of fits.

I had a dream once of these giant flowers among tiny little buildings, with angels flying on the walls all around...i haven't been able to get it out of my head for years and finally I was able to make it look how i wanted. I've always wanted to escape into this dream again.

I thought the idea of creating your dream world and escaping into it was something that every artist would love to do--literally!

Whoa, this took forever to complete but I'm so glad to finally have it done! C:

This is my entry to DA's James and the Giant Peach contest which I really wanted to enter because I loved the idea behind it.

This is my sort of escape, a huge amazing and magical place... free from reality! I love the idea of going to bed one day and then finding myself falling through the sky into this fantastical place! I loved the pillow as well; I think it's cute that she's riding on a giant feather that came from her own pillow. Oh yeah, and the chicken. I just adore the chicken with the goggles! Chickens make for great companions, no?

All in all, I think we all really want to escape into a fantasy, just a different sort for everyone. My personal fantasy is something like this; full of magic, crystals, wonky windmills, dragons and general fantasy.

I hope you all enjoy this picture as much as I did making it! -^o^-

This is one of my daydreams

These are the snow-topped, windswept peaks of the Thrista mountains!
It is known that an "ancient race" so called once lived on these mountains guarding the way into the Strontain homelands!These mountain dwellers were also said to be hiding a powerful weapon that could wipe out an entire civilizations once set in motion. Supposedly that's how and why they disappeared.
The towers that rest on these mountains continue father underground Tunneling into the mountain. But now are even more extended and connected underground by tunnels and caves all dug by a mysterious man that now inhabits these mountains. Many say He is a new guardian of the Thristan pass but others say he is just a scoundrel who wants to get his hands on that ancient weapon. The people who know him call him Mr. White and how he digs these extensive tunnels by himself...Nobody knows.
Here is a picture of one of the guardian's towers buried in snow with only a balcony entrance still visible. Standing over the swirling clouds below!

The theme is about a castle built on a giant tree in the middle of a lake. It's inhabitants are the Wasplings. A half man, half wasp species. Although they have wings, they can't fly. So they construct various flying machines, in order to make their dream come true: fly beyond that tree and explore new worlds...

and 's leaves brushes I might not have made it on time ;w;

I have always loved the story of James. For one, probably because, I can somehow relate to his life. And much like James, I too have found a way to sneak out of the real world. As a kid, drawing, playing, and reading books, became my escape. My imagination transported me to a world only I have an access to. A world where my gift of art was honed. Since then, art has become my comfort zone and constant companion. Up to now, it is.

Dream World

When I read this rule, this picture developed in my head. I tried to think around it; to get an idea that's more original than this one but I failed completely.
This is my dream world: The world where everybody's dreams come true, the world with no broken dreams.

I worked about 20 hours on this one. Coloring the rocks was a pain - they are all drawn one by one with color pencil. The sky is drawn with watercolor, the light added in Photo Editor.
Size of the picture: A2 - 40cm*60cm - 16"*24"

I hope my idea of a harmonic dragon world can wow you as much as me. I'd love to hear some critique.

This picture I've made is an entry for the James and the Giant Peach contest. I thought this would be an interesting contest to join, and so I thought I would give it a shot and join in on it.

So basically, the whole idea behind the contest is you put yourself in James' shoes and imagine where you would like to go to escape the real world. So I've made me flying into the sky with my red balloon and my cat Angel, who unfortunately died almost a year ago. I felt like I should add a companion to my picture, so I've added Angel. I have been thinking about her lately, and how much I loved her. Ever since then, I've missed her ever since. So I thought it would be nice to have her be apart of this contest

Anyway, I have drawn me in the sky, because ever since I was little, I had a BIG imagination. I always imagined me in fantasy worlds or having my pets like Angel talk to me back and cheer me up when I'm feeling down, or even have my toys come to life. I even had a lot of imaginary friends as a kid. Just crazy and random stuff like that lol. I am also a constant daydreamer. It's so bad, during class at my school, I'll be staring outside window and my teacher would call out my name and say, "Stop daydreaming and pay attention!" I get a kick everytime that happens to me xD lol. I have always dreamed of flying, and I still do sometimes. Escape from reality and just jump high into the air and start to fly into the sky.

I wanted to join this contest, because one of my favorite movie as a child was James and the Giant Peach and Tim Burton is the best at movies and for all he does to make us laugh, cry, and help us see things we've never seen before. He brings out the child in me when ever I watch a movie of his. I remember watching a lot of his movies throughout my childhood and I remembered loving every one of them! So this is why I joinned this contest. Doesn't matter whether I win or lose the contest, for what it's worth, I had a great time drawing this entry and I just absolutely love what I do. It brought back a lot of good, special memories. ~

I love that movie so I tired to think about what would happen if James and his friends flied (yes in my version the peach is super light and it is a baloon) in other direction then New York. Dreamscape

This is a conglomerate of the places I go/ things I interact with when I dream/daydream. Welcome to my brain! Starting with the creatures, I used to dream abut black swans eating up the ocean, and so somewhere in the depths I created a swan-man to consolidate my fears into- he is where I embed my nightmares, Philomena on the other hand, is like a mother figure and watches over me and makes sure I'm still sane. The two that are linked together by a bloody bandage are actually figurines on my desk that I talk to when I'm lonely. They are a bit altered, but that how things go in my brain. The sad looking fellow in undefined clothing is a vampire that I dreamt of years ago, and remains on of my most vivid memories of a dream. The two cats are my cat (the black one) and the transparent one is my sister's cat who died a year ago but I dream of constantly, mostly that he's come back from the dead and is alive and well. And the Void Birds, as I like to call them represent secrets that I keep, I can feel them there all the time, perched on my easel, bookshelves- everywhere.
The items that can be found are a halved apple, which is an image that can be repetitively found in many of my drawings, drawing upon religious symbolism, along with some childhood fairy tales. The Chessboard is for my fascination with Alice in Wonderland, along with Through the Looking Glass. The books are simply that- I spend so much time curled up reading and losing my life through someone else. The segmented trees are something I don't know how to define yet, they just show up a lot. Red rabbits for all the memories and butterflies for the past. A pumpkin patch because I want it to be a constant fall. The wood paneling is leading somewhere secret, to a house that I built in my mind to house unwanted things, and the water- well, I figure that this part of my skull is like an island and thus I drew it so.

That's the most I will ever explain a painting, and I figured it was just because there's no use looking at this without knowing something about it. I feel so safe curled up in this escape and I imagine myself here as I fall asleep- where none of reality can catch me. If only it were like James and the Giant Peach, and they'd stay with me- real as ever in the middle of NYC.

Also, if this seems like a giant ramble- it is. I'm exhausted and going to bed now.

Made this for the James and the Giant Peach contest. I don't like Roald Dahl much but the theme was cool, the place where we escape our troubles. I'm big on escaping. And i usually want to go to a forest and hug a tree. Or be a tree. Whatever. There's even a song about that.

My second entry for "James and The Giant Peach" Contest
Here I drew the place in my imagination where I escape from real world.This place is always different but often it looks like Japanese styled Sky Land with Castle in Clouds ^^ It's very soft and there're unusual flowers ) I also wanted to show the feeling of lightness and airiness there.

This is my entry for James & the Giant Peach Daydream Contest.

Some dream of castles, wealth... Some dream of dragons, mythical creatures... Some dream of peace, silence, quietness... Well, I dream about having an adventure, facing deadly creatures to protect something special and precious, certainly, those peaches from this hungry sea serpent in this magical world.

I almost gave up on this contest, because i couldn't find anything to do... This idea came up to me 2 days ago so this is quite a rush. Enjoy! Don't forget to add to favorites and comments!!!

I escape to a place where I captain of a ship, all the creatures are my friends, the sea rolls in magnificent waves, & as a little homage to James, the glowing sun on the horizon is a peach. Oh, & also, I don't run out of time to finish the piece the way I envisioned.

an endless but not tiresome (I believe you can see why) road in a beautiful landscape, leading to mysterious kingdoms...

I've always loved to travel by bus on long distances and to unknown destinations, because I have no care for whoever is driving and I feel like I'm traveling out of time... just looking on the window at people minding their daily jobs, places that I get to see for just a couple of seconds, it's like I'm an observer of life... And I have all the time in the world to imagine and to think about whatever I want

A very different style from my usual stuff. abstract-esque Environments are extremely difficult. No real chance of winning, but man, I learned a lot on this one.

i remember watching this awesome movie when i was a kid and thinking i should fly to Disneyland on a giant avocado. Tim Burton brings out the wierdness in everyone.
