The human brain contains about 10 billion nerve cells, or neurons. On average, each neuron is connected to other neurons through about 10,000 synapses.

In the nervous system, a synapse is a structure that permits a neuron to pass an electrical or chemical signal to another cell.

Synapses are essential to neuronal function: neurons are cells that are specialized to pass signals to individual target cells, and synapses are the means by which they do so.

At a synapse, the plasma membrane of the signal-passing neuron (the presynaptic neuron) comes into close apposition with the membrane of the target (postsynaptic) cell. Both the presynaptic and postsynaptic sites contain extensive arrays of molecular machinery that link the two membranes together and carry out the signaling process.

This was the first contest I entered here on DA....hmm...well I'd so love to have this design on my car. I decided to go with my Flower Series theme, I had to resubmit this though, because I used images I had already drawn up. So I just went back and drew designs specifically for the car.

It was an honor to be able to make it to the semi-finals, thank you everyone for your support!

Here is my entry for the Smartcar Contest. Finally I got it done and now is 3:04am, I've been working on this for weeks.

I was thinking of what to do for this, because there isn't really a "topic" we are assigned, it just says show us what your imagination can do or something like that. So what I did was coloring the car with a solid color to see what comes to my mind. And when I try yellow/orange, it reminded me of cheese, and of course, mice come with cheese. so I decided to make the car look like a big cheese and mice will be everywhere doing lots of random things

The door was what bothers me at first, because there was a line on my "big cheese". so I decided to make it look like that was where a slice of cheese was cut off. Haha.

Comments and favorites are more than welcome.

This is my third entry for this contest. I had fun doing this. I feel as though my imagination finally broke through and I got something cool! The car really relates to me because of the colors, and the cute little characters and objects. The color scheme involves all my favorite colors. There is a bunny coming out of a rocket ship because bunnies are my favorite. The rocket was pretty random! lol The theme is kind of like a space theme. It's looks like a happy place I want to be =B

I started this picture really messy at first, but I did some touch ups to make it really neat. So if you look up close to it, you would probably see very tiny mistakes you can barely see...Oh yeah! My inspiration was the songs on the radio. It was that B.O.B Airplane song and that other song Your love is like a drug. Those songs made me dance while drawing lol XD

I actually have two more entries that are really cool, waaay better than my first two entires for this contest. Those were probably warm ups. One of them is done and the other needs touch up. Im thinking of maybe participating in the trik contest. lol There is a bunch of competition on that contest, but I'm just gonna do it for fun like this contest and not expect anything. Hmmm..I never done these kind of things before and it's a really great experience

My second entry..this one is a little more fun than the last one, but still going with the "nature" theme :3 I'd love to have a frog on my car, I dont know about you guys xDD It'd be great to see the peoples reactions around me when they see those giant red eyes staring at them xD

To the side I have the grayscale underpainting and below it the finished painting without the car mask on it, so you can see the true colors I used. :3

My entry for the Skinned Smartly contest.

I did the artwork in Illustrator CS4 and placed that into the provided template. According to $endosage we can have whatever background we want (said it here [link] ), so I used that as an opportunity to show the art more clearly.

I would love to drive in a car that looked like this.

What happens when you open YOUR mind? Watch as an explosion of ideas come together to synthesize and wrap the Smart Car with a design made to stretch the mind to its limits.

The non-symmetry of the design expands the boundaries of the canvas allowing for an even greater flow of imagination and creativity.

A general theme of X's and O's is used that is open to several interpretations, its up to the imagination of the viewers. They could resemble anything from the love one may have for his/her smart car, or even a simple tic-tac-toe match, where the smart car always has the right move

I spent any free time I had over the last week-ish on this, I hope it turned out well, I think it did lol

I wanted my design to showcase my idea of what a Smart car would look like, and after a few tweaks to my original design, The Pulse was born. I couldn't be happier with it

I thought it would be awesome to see a smart car built up like it was a steam-punk vehicle. And so it is. I put alot of detail and time into trying to make it look rusted and bolted and now I am quite proud of it. Comments and critiques appreciated!

While I was trying to think of an idea for what to do, I remember taking every color I could think of and just slapping it on there. That made me think of rainbows, so I ran off that idea, then clouds came into mind. And you can't have clouds and a rainbow without any sun, so the 'sun' is right in the middle of the hood.

I think when anyone sees this car driving down the street, they'll be happy and image a brighter tomorrow, a brighter future for all.

For the Skinned Smartly contest.

I tried for a more geometric version of the design style I use in the BrokenEye logo, although I guess it came out looking kind of Darth Maul-esk. Either one's good really. Or neither. As long as it looks awesome.

It's going to take me a while to get over the irrational sellouty feeling this project gave me. Kinda weird, because I don't get that feeling when I do commissions. Maybe its because Smartcar is a big corporation, offering big money. Not that I don't want the money or anything. . .

YES i KNOW I CAN NOT PARTICIPATE TO THIS CONTEST because i am not from USA ... but i love SMART cars and i wish i had one..........
i made this desighn not for the competition but just to answer the challange for myself... i originaly wanted an orange or a red smat car....but when i thought of this contest this is what i created... i really wish i would have a smart and it lookt like this... is a simple desighn but cute...perfect for girls....

hey guys
this contest looked really fun
it was inspired by the movie wizard of oz

i believe that the wizard of oz
is like a lot of us, cuz we go through life in black and white but every once in a while we find color and it amazing and it make us happy and give us an adventure
but we wouldnt like to be on an adventure forever and we long to be back home where wear most comfortable

if i had to drive a car
i would want it to one of the most colorfullest thing on the streets with rainbows and sparkles that just shine like crazy
