This is my entry for the TURN BACK THE WHEEL contest.
I decided to make it about James and Mary from Silent Hill 2.
If James could turn back the wheel of time, he would have never killed Mary. He knows now that he could have done so much more for her despite her terminal illness.
She is still the love of his life and he will be right beside her and make the last of their time together meaningful.

This took AAALLLLL day to create. I wanted to do something for the Fancraftic contest (villain theme!) [link] but since I've been visiting home due to some family medical matters, I really haven't had much of a chance to work on ANYTHING. =_= But today I got an early start and worked on this. Yay!

ANYWHOOSLE- The idea behind this was to use shrinky dinks, my preferred medium as of late, in an interesting way. I've been digging my coloring technique (which is apparently somewhat unique?), but sometimes shrink jewelry just needs something more. I went for a broken glass look which I feel is somewhat fitting for Silent Hill in its many incarnations, and achieved it by drawing out the design, cutting the shrink plastic, taping the plastic down with proper spacing, then tracing the design. Once cooked and shrunk, I fit the pieces back together (not as easy as it sounds) and attached them to a piece of white tulle to maintain a bit of transparency.

The piece is fairly large and I don't feel it translated as a necklace as well as I would've liked (Ph's right hand looks odd, but to clarify, the palm is out and the thumb is down), but in the end I'm quite pleased with it! I tried a new technique and had positive results. Even though it's intended to be worn around the neck, it would also make a pretty awesome window hanging (it looks really cool with light streaming through the breaks in the plastic)!

Me, personally, I support Pyramid Head all the way, but the Executioner's bound to give the infamous Red Pyramid a run for his money.

When Hells Collide

My entry was inspired by the bit in the contest verbiage about battling another character. I thought- what greater of a battle than between two titans of death? Of course they\'re from different worlds, but I tried to capture a similar macabre between the two franchises. Feel free to d/l for full wallpaper size.

In this scene, the city has fallen to the darkness surrounding. Shadows loom and seep between the creases of the city. Amongst its fading ruins and undead demons filling the streets, two of hell\'s champions meet. Their paths cross and are able to go no further. Each tighten their hold on their weapons of choice. And as the world echoes closer and closer to Hell\'s vision, the two prepare to fight...

Bio:

Having been a socially awkward boy ever since his youth, Terry, maliciously called, "Mary," for his shy, withdrawn behavior by bullies, was picked on relentlessly. His even temperament only received brutal mistreatment. He began to hate everyone around him, unable to open up to anyone, or care whether they lived or died.

It wasn't until he entered High School, and had met Ramona, that his heart was able to warm up again. He became infatuated with her, unable to control his love for her, idealized her, to the status of an angel. He felt he couldn't, "be," without her. And one could only imagine the emotional and mental fallout that occurred when the inevitable happened... when Ramona dumped him. The happy world he had built around his love for Ramona came crashing down, and he feel into the deepest pits of insanity, until he could no longer bear to live without her that he took his own life to ease the pain.

Now, he wanders about the plain of the living, seeking a means of respite for his one and only loved, then lost, and the only form of rest he can muster, seems to be the destruction of Scott Pilgrim, feeling that if he couldn't have Ramona, than neither could Scott.

Personality:

As stated before, he's lost every bit of sanity he had left, making him incredibly unpredictable and psychopathic. He enjoys killing people for sport, either by using his ghostly powers to plainly kill, or get creative by possessing them and dropping them of a building or placing them in front of bus, for example, just to release them at the last moment so he can watch the horror twist their expression in a heavenly satisfying way. He still has a massive obsession for Ramona that he is unable to kick, it's also the reason his soul couldn't rest.

Description of Power:

Ghostly Possession: Like how it is in movies, his soul momentarily takes vacancy in another person's body, over shining their soul, allowing him to put the victim in a unfortunate situation. (see above) Any damage done to the victim doesn't affect Terry.

Ectoplasm Blast: Standard issue energy blast attack, he uses the ectoplasm energy he gained through death to launch this move, he can launch it an infinite number of times because he never loses energy reserves. Though this attack can can go invisible, like Terry, and reappear at his will, making it a hard move to dodge, defend or clash with another attack.

Intangibility: Simply, go invisible and avoid attacks.

Human Meat Shield: Similar to Ghostly Possession, he grabs a nearby civilian and places them in the direct path of an attack. This can work with objects as well, seeing as ghosts can possess those too.

Other Skills:

He's actually very intelligent, despite what his personality suggests.

Other:

When he was alive he used to play many survival horror games, like Silent Hill and Resident Evil.

Crappy base colors for now until I can shade it properly. The lineart took forever especially on the Scott Pilgrim version of the character, I was testing out a new inking style, which has a heavy outline of the character and all the inside detail lines are thin, it looked pretty nifty, so I might use this inking style more often. ^^ The kanji on his beanie reads as, "Ten" and it means, "Heaven" while the other kanji, I don't know the Romanized version of it, but it's supposed to be, "Hell."

Also, tribal tattoo for the win. XD

Ok so started playing silent hill shattered memories, and darn it all I love that game. Anyways, they are known for their freaky monsters(although this game seems to lack in that), so I wanted to create another monster.

Speed painting is fun, and in a really weird helps improve your skills. Anyways, back to animating XP

The Executioner vs. Pyramid Head from the Silent Hill series. I thought that it would be a great idea to have these 2 monsters square off against eachother. This piece of art was created on September 3rd and completed on the 4th of 2010. I added such details as blur to the background level(to add a little realism), shadows to the characters and the walls. I also added lighting and darkness to the skin tones of the characters. I noticed that each monster character had an unusual form of pale skin tone along with minor scars and bruises. Touched up in Photoshop.

The Ten Commandments of Deviousness: VI Thou Shalt Believe In Unicorns & Magic.

Not quite my best, but I really wanted to try this out.

I didn't want to have this whole magic and sparkles thing going on with this. I wanted it to be as realistic as it could be while talking about unicorns. Dunno if that ruined this, or what.

Oh well! I wrote this while watching Silent Hill, so I was trying my hardest not to make it all twisted like I very well could have. Maybe I will next time.

_{FIRST I WOULD LIKE TO SAY that this is my first digital painting ever (I think) and the whole time while making this I was pretty much flying blind.

I also would like to say that I sincerely doubt I will get anywhere near the top three placings because there are so many more talented and more creative artists than I. but I still have a sliver of hope that I may succeed at least a little bit. if this doesn't win at least perhaps this may attract a little audience.

ANYWAY.

let's see how I can describe this thing.

this dream world of mine is divided into two times of day by a large ceiling of tree branches, vines, leaves, etc., which blocks out the sun.
below is a nighttime scene with lots of hills and a castle and the tree that provides the ceiling. I imagine this half to be cool and silent. I was originally going to draw fireflies hovering just above the grass of the hills but I didn't know how to without making this thing look insanely cheesy. also that tree looks kinda small but it's really supposed to be quite large, maybe a little bigger than the Tree of Life in Disneyworld.
the top half is a morning/day scene with a rising sun and a means of transportation out of this dreamworld. monstrous wooden dragonfly airplanes (possibly crafted out of the wood from the tree?) loop and dive above the tree roof, but there are no passengers aboard at the moment to enjoy the ride. the airplanes are simply playing right now.

and that'll be all. I guess. enjoy?
