This was inspired by Tonight Alive's song 'let it land' I really enjoyed it and Im so glad this contest made me aware of this band ! Lovely music. Anyway sry if its very girly :< just what came to me while listening to the song <3 hope someone likes it XD!

tools: Sai (if there is any texture it's from the original Sai, no 3rd party texture used)

To me the song means to believe in yourself :3 And that's the inspiration for my design.

so here's my first entry to the KickFlip for a cause contest. i'm planning on submitting at least one for each of the four bands but here's the first one.

i thought it'd be cool to do something that could relate to the band's name but that even if you don't know them or don't like their music could at least like the design and but the deck anyways. i know the theme is a classic but i think it fits.

P.S. the white lines belong to the template provided for the contest so you can see where the trucks are placed and the exact shape of the board.

Voilà!
This is my entry to the Kick Flip for a Cause contest.
I have chosen Tonight Alive as the band to design for as I have chosen a punky theme for my design.

I wanted to make something really really awesome, I am a skater myself so Ive seen alot of designs and a lot of styles so I wanted to create something original, something that looks as sick standing still as it does when its doing a tray flip or a sweet k-grind.

The overall style I have chosen is a dark vexel punk design, I wanted to show what skateboarding is about, danger, thrills and sticking it to the man but also looking as cool as possible.

I finally got round to designing the final design for the contest and I have went all out, Id like to thank everyone for their advice on my 1st draft.

I hope you guys enjoy this piece,

A design for a skateboard for a contest here on deviantart. I was inspired by the band's music and image and wanted to blend it somehow with my pin-up-streetart style. The target was to get a vision of an angel of modern music (like the ancien muses).

Done entirely in Illustrator CS5 and took about ~10 hours from sketch to finish.

I've been BTF fan for years, this was my song back in the day: [link]

I chose a dove because of BTF's Christian subject matter, and tried to make the picture mostly clean and art nouveau-ish, but with some metal and 80's skate deck influences. Drawn by hand, on 2 sheets of comic board taped together, the lines took forever, inking took forever, and flats took forever. But I had fun, had to pull an all-nighter- going to a show tonight! \m/

It fits the template, but I removed the template layer. Those red lines were annoying lol.

This is my entry for the board design contest. I listened to the band "Tonight Alive" a lot so i can grasp their style and wouldn't you know it I stared liking the band.

I hope you guys like the design and i had a lot of fun making it.

I first sketched it on paper and then Finished it with Illustrator and Photoshop.

Here is my latest design for the Kick Flip for a Cause contest (Pierce the Veil) Design. I created this design as my version of a sugar skull, and i added my own twist to it. I tried to go with the band members tattoos...and their likes...I added music instruments and other goodies, and i also added a cancer ribbon, and the 2 eyes, you may notice they are different, thats because one is a cd disc and the other is a vinyl album.

Done entirely in Illustrator CS5
Time Used: 40Hours (yes the details took the longest...lol)
Tools used: Wacom Intuos 5 Large, mouse and brain...

hy guys! last minute entry for the kickflip contest haha q___q i kinda found out about it on monday evening and had to learn for some exams, i had to take on whednesday and thursday xD i nearly drowned in workload and got academically killed b/c you could kinda guess, i preferred to rather work on this than to learn for university lololol whatever!

i deciced for this contest,that i HAD TO join, b/c of its cause! breast cancer awareness always needs support imho!
also it was a way to support one of my favorite bands, whom i´ve been following for about 6 years now lol! craig mabbit was even still in the band,when i found out about them haha xD good old times!

before starting on this deck, i was working on some speedpainting sh!t, which was this skeleton casket up there, but as soon as i found out about the contest, i was like "BONES CREW, THATS THE STUFF!!" - so i kinda unintentionally laid the first part down of this piece haha xD for the completion of the theme, i put bones crew on repeat and browsed through the lyrics, to get a better idea -> i kinda associated some stuff i talked about with a friend of mine recently and BOOM- there i had a concept! getting the concept finalized took me 2 days though, was i ran into design issues on the girl and the theme again :SS

the girl´s supposed to have the key to the casket´s lock, but i´m not sure, if the key on the swords hilt or the key in her tattoo (LOL THERE REALLY IS A TATTOO XD!!) are recognizeable at all :3

kind of a loose interpretation of the "bones crew"-chorus -=> "Ten thousand miles from here
all the things that could have been, but now
Ten thousand miles from you
all the things i should have said, somehow
it's all that i could do"

tl;dr : didn´t have much time to work on this, screwed up on some levels ; theme came to be by accident/recent personal stuff matching with the lyrics of "bones crew" lol
