Yep, as you can tell, I'm protesting in good humour. Now I know one winner will be picked properly (though no-one stands a chance against THIS, so toss your entries in the garbage NAO! ) but I, and many I have talked to about how the other winner is based purely on fave-count rather than skill applied would almost be offended if it weren't so funny

Think about it - that means if this (awesome) deviation skyrocketed to the most popular purely because it's so great, or more realistically - because anyone with half a brain could see right through ths poorly-diguised fave-whore-a-thon and faves in agreement, then that means I rightfully claim the prize

Yep, proof that having a shitload of watchers because of your generic and overdone art-style attracted them in the first place really does matter...if you don't have half a million pageviews minimum - then even your best attempts are rendered futile, even if your entry really is epic

I'm not mad...just dissapointed, and I rejected the article with pride

I wanted to mix old school power ups and enemies with the new ones. The characters and items in the Mario games are different throughout the years, so I tried to do a mix of various ones from different games.

I don't like to redraw stuff I already did before, I always prefer to focus on new works but when the dA "Draw This Again" contest came up, I felt it was a good time as any to see how much I've improved.

There isn't a lot of my old stuff that merit a do-over, I think. That's not to say they're perfect but I imagine the improvements would be minor and, ultimately, not worth the effort I'd put into it (except for Mario vs. Bowser, that one would be a billion times better if I redid it. Maybe someday...). So after thinking about what to pick, I went for last year's Halloween piece which is possibly the most apathetic piece I've done in recent memory. It's kinda cheating almost because even back done I could've done a better job than what I ultimately posted here. I tried to keep to basics in there and avoided straying too far away from what the original piece was. It's been less than a year since the original and, despite what I said earlier, I'm glad to see that the improvements are more than noticeable.

Ramona's 8th Evil Ex-Boyfriend

Christian is a 28-year-old nerdy guy who, like Scott, is a video game fanatic. When he and Ramona Flowers had a thing together (shortly after she broke up with Gideon), it only lasted for about 2-3 days mainly due to Christian being distracted by playing a heavy amount of Mega Man and Final Fantasy and Bioshock and Red Dead Redemption and Fallout 3 and other mainstream video game franchises, annoying the shit out her and drove her into breaking up with him. Once she dumped him, it made him rage for a brief moment, but then he got tired and played Street Fighter 4 for a while to calm him down. The next day when he got onto craig’s list to upload a rant on how he proclaims certain video game franchises to be overrated and stupid, he JUST SO HAPPENED to notice an angry rant from Gideon Gordon Graves about how Ramona dumped him and all that jazz. He decided to join the league of Evil Exes just for the sake of making him look cool and powerful in front of Ramona, but requested that he be the one to fight Scott after Gideon is defeated.

Christian’s special power is jumping at massive heights into the air and then plummeting down, making the ground shake; kinda like Bowser from Super Mario Bros. 3. It would’ve been cool of him to breathe fire, but Matt Patel can already shoot fireballs, so that idea’s taken. He can also use kung-fu shit and whatnot, but that’s a given for all of the evil Exes. One more thing, he can also grow to the size of a ball park and crush things.

The epic battle between Scott and Christian will pay off when both fighters use their video game inspired wits and powers to beat the crap out of each other. And when he does get massively giant, he may need the help of Ramona, his band mates, Knives, and possibly even NegaScott to end him once and for all. Afterwards, $9,999,999,999 worth of coins (plus a few unlockables such as his entire video game collection and free coupons to any restaurant in Canada) will burst out of him when he pops like a balloon. That shit would be amazing.

Oh yeah, and this should be the theme song when they fight, because it’s from Sonic 3, and the soundtrack to that game is amazing, in my opinion: [link]
