You know me.. I love contests... and I love DeviantArt (who doesn't???) so I just couldn't skip this one! I had to do it!
When I first read the contest's page this idea immediately popped in my mind.. "I can make a miniature DA shop!" and that's what I did!
I wanted to put more stuff in it but then I thought that it would have been tooooo crowded and messy, so I just put my favorites!

The emoticon stress balls, the laptop bag, my lovely fella plushie, stickers on the wall and a shirt (that is not my fav design but I just had to find a coored one to contrast the black wall)

And here it is!
100% polymer clay and paper.. 100% Handmade! (except for the wooden box)

I guess this is more like Craft This Again, really.

I've been seeing this everywhere lately and I thought I may as well give it a try. Plus I needed to do a cherry pie tutorial so I killed two birds with one stone so to speak.

The one to the left was made in March 2012 and was either the third or fourth thing I had ever made from clay. I can't believe I was so unbelievably proud of it. The one to the right was made last night.

Both pies were made from polymer clay, and the pie on the right is inside a bottle cap.

The new pendant is now on a necklace.

When I was small, I was thinking, that somewhere on the earth is an autumnal phoenix living. This pretty bird with fallen leafs instead of feathers comes every Autumn to the land and collects all fallen leafs in the tail.
And when you came on the street on the morning, when the first sun light is coming, you might see the tail of this phoenix^^ My best autumn fall memories: fresh air, full of fragrant essence of the fallen leafs and feeling of pure happiness,that can bring you to the clear blue sky without wings.

A study sculpted in polymer clay, about 10" high from finger to knuckle. I had an ominous maternal Grandmother, who kept a red-handled fireman's ax by her bed, as well as an ice-pick, brick and hammer. My artist mother dreamt of her in the form of a grappling white octopus, which was perfect after the way of dreams. Old age and dissolution, combined with Grandma's innate power, unsettled. As a ghost, I see her swim through air as through abyssal waters. I aim to explore this critter further!

This is also my very first 1:12 set - it was challenging at first, but it turned out to be actually easier than 1:6 scale. Everything is handmade with clay and paper

This is my entry for the Gears of War 3 contest. I took a little break from painting to work on this. I didn't use that many resources and honestly, I suck at Photoshop, so there's nothing reallly fancy about this picture. As you can tell, I painted some of the stuff myself. I gave this 80% effort because I have a lot on my mind and like I said before... I'm no PS expert.

Anyway, even if this doesn't win, hope some of you still like it. (I mean c'mon, everyone loves Carmine)

Raaaawr!!!

This was the scariest thing I could think of this year, even though scary isn't usually my thing. (You were expecting something cute, right?) It's some sort of horrific insectoid monster, chewing through your pumpkin to eat your face probably!

The black parts are the pumpkin, the bright parts are the cut-outs, and the midtones are varying levels of skinned pumpkin flesh, shaped with a clay loop tool.

The Cephalopoda Sciuridae (Octopus - Squirrel)

A small amphibious mammal which has a tendency to hoard it's food in secluded spaces. Although it can survive on land it seems to prefer an aquatic environment. It feeds mainly on underwater vegetation but will also eat small fish.

Ah, Jeff, where to begin ...?

First of all, I might as well note that I'm not portraying myself as THE Cheshire cat (you don't mess with perfection). I can't draw myself as THE Cheshire cat, obviously, because THE Cheshire cat already exists there. I'm just A Cheshire cat. And not a very smiling one either, although that might be understandable, considering what I've just been through ... in the, you know ... picture up there. *points upwards*

Now when that's cleared up ... I love Tim Burton's movies, so I was happy to read that there was going to be a contest about Alice in Wonderland. But admittedly, first I didn't feel inspired at all.

Inspiration didn't strike until I thought "Wonderland ... -ing". Hm. "Nice wonderlanding". And then my mind went into overdrive, because in order to LAND, you must first be flying, or falling, and falling kinda sorta fit the theme, so ... yeah. But I couldn't decide how I wanted to portray it, because suddenly I had all these ideas and my mind just wouldn't. shut. off. so I decided to make them all. Just to shut my brain up.

So, here's what I did:

First part; played in Photoshop with pictures. Kinda like one of those cut-and-glue-thingies you made when you were a kid and went to kindergarten, only made in Photoshop. And yes, that's me, and yes, I do work in a paint store. THAT particular paint store, too.

Second part: Drew lines by hand, scanned them, coloured in Photoshop.

Third part: Acrylics on ... canvas board? Yeah, that. I googled some pictures to have as a reference when I drew the bubbles, because honestly, it's not enough to drop stuff into the bathtub and try to figure out how they look. Yes, I tried it. <_<

Fourth part: Speed painting done in Photoshop. Same thing goes with swirls as with bubbles - photographs help as references. I especially looked at this deviation: [link]

Fifth part: Cut out pieces of paper. I mentioned I worked in a paint store, right? Yeah, well, we have this wall of lovely colour samples (or is it called "shades" in English?), and I ... err ... borrowed a few of those. And cut them up. And then glued them together.

Sixth part: An ink wash! The third time in my life I'm doing one of those ... and I still fail. *deep sigh* Oh well. For a reference there, I took pictures of myself hanging upside down on the kitchen table. Not comfortable at all. And then my feet were kinda hidden behind the table, so I looked at this deviation: [link] when I drew the legs. Very good stock, by the way.

Seventh part: Clay and acrylics. I work WAY too little with clay, but hey, at least it's a start. I don't ... really know what I was thinking here. But I couldn't NOT do it.

Eight part: Heres where it gets interesting! Its water colour on paper, done in what I hope at least resemblance manga-style You should be able to tell from the huge eyes. Im not to sure of the rest of her err, me but it was something I havent done before, and Im kinda pleased with the result. Way to go me.

Ninth part: And the interesting-ness continues! This is coloured pencils on a nature-coloured paper, with a border of white acrylics. But! Ive never tried drawing realism like this before, and it was much fun. LESS fun was to take the reference pictures The only place where I could hang upside down in my apartment (I dont do stuff half way when Ive got my mind set on something ) is the ladder up to my bed (its one of those things that has a desk underneath it, so its up right under the ceiling). Now, my camera has a ten second delay which meant that in ten seconds, I had to press the button, run to the bed, climb up the ladder and hang myself upside down on it. And then pose. Im glad no one saw me. Once, I got stuck with a foot and barely got down. In the end, I had to use parts from five different photos. Im pretty sure I sprained something or something. Ah, suffering for art (This one's going on my wall as soon as I can find a frame, btw)

Tenth part: Ah, yes, another one drawn in Photoshop. I found a great tutorial for the cloud thingies here: [link] and then another tutorial for the lightning (to separate the two parts): [link] Yay for Deviantart and learning new things! Who knew lightning could turn you into a cat?

Eleventh part: Realism. Falling cat. Pencil on paper. I googled for an image, and found a few that I looked at to get all the stuff in the right places I dont own a cat, and even if I did, Im not sure Id throw it up in the air so I could watch it fall down for reference (even though they DO say that cats always land on their feet ). Ive also come to the conclusion that I suck at drawing cats. I just dont have the patience to work on the fur.

Twelfth part: Photoshop again. Layers of colour, no lines.

Thirteenth part: just a sketch. I could have worked more on it, but I kinda liked it as it was. Im pretty sure Id have that exact expression if Id fallen down a puddle of paint, gotten turned into a cat and crashed painfully into the ground of an unknown land. And a not very graceful (wonder-)landing either, just my luck.

Fourteenth (and last!) part: Photoshop. I painted the Cheshire cat first, all in one layer, and that was all good and well (have finally figured out what flow means!) because it actually reminds me of the cat from the movie. He was totally ( like, TOTALLY giggle! *does girly impression, just because I HAVE to*) my favourite character in that movie (which was why I wanted to portray myself as him but he rules so much, so I couldnt BE him, I just wanted to MEET him). The main reason for that was that he scared the crap out of my friend, whom I went to see the movie with. Every time he showed up on screen, she shuddered and turned to me and whispered He scares me help!. He he heh. He IS kinda scary. But cool. But scary. Anyway, then it was time to draw myself as a cat. And Id like to say that its supposed to look like that but the truth is that I just wanted to get it DONE because JEFF knows how many hours Ive spent on this entire thing and damnit, I want it out of my head so I can spend time doing other things, like cleaning the apartment or watch TV and eat cheese doodles mmm, cheese doodles so I just got lazy. There, I said it.

Anyhooo, after that, it was just putting all of it together. A few lines here, some blurring there, a touch up in a third place stuff like that. I could have worked more on that part too, but yeah. I didnt.

All in all? Im glad that its done. Result? Eh. Some parts are good. But I think the IDEA was good! Just IMAGINE what someone who could actually do these things WELL could have done!

Thats it! HAHA! Im DONE! Cheese doodles, here I come!

Benji the Bengal Tiger

Well, I finally got him done at the last minute ^_^; It took me all of a month to do this one. He's just your average bengal tiger who happens to like to hang out on my bed all day.

All of the fabric used is fake fur of some kind. The eyes are store bought plastic ones and the teeth and claws were made with bakeable clay. The claws are retractable! and the mouth opens as well to a full set of teeth and a fuzzy tongue. His whiskers are made of white stretchy string (all attached one by one). He's got beans in his paws to help him sit and give him a more lifelike touch.Benji sits about 26 in. tall and is about 23 in. long not including the tail. He can actually lay down as well but I like him better sitting.

Everything was hand sewn (ouch..) I didn't use any patterns; rather I used a method I like to call "sew-as-you-go"...basically cut out pieces that look right as you go and sew them together.

A special thanks goes out to my boyfriend for helping me put this presentation together and for being so very patient while i worked long hours on this.

Cupcake Canvas

This is my entry for the culinary arts still life contest. They asked for creative so that is what i tried to do. I really wanted to make something creative, not just food wise but in the presentation and staging too.
I also wanted to show that art doesn't have to be a painting or drawing to be interesting, art comes in all shapes and forms and i feel that the culinary arts and still life photography section gets over looked far too much. It can take just as much time and planning to create and photograph the perfect dish/photo as it does to paint for example.

On to the food. Two tiny cupcakes the size of a 2p coin filled with vanilla sponge in a silicone mold, topped with chocolate butter cream and sprinkles.
The canvas is a square homemade shortbread cookie decorated with rolled white and pink royal icing, piped with more chocolate butter cream and sprinkles. On the "table" (a box covered with a table cloth) is some left over sprinkles as creating art is a messy business, well it is for me anyway!

As always i got my idea at 3:30am this morning and baking by 6am!

I made this for Halloween and certain contests on dA. I knew I wanted to make something with body parts and the sushi stuff in my gallery seems to be the most popular so here is the result of that idea!

It is all entirely made with polymer clay, except I painted the nails with actual nail varnish and the seaweed that wraps them is tissue paper. Each finger is about 1 cm long and the entire plate is about 3 cm long.

I do rather love Halloween ^_^

Memory of a Dream

MEMORY OF A DREAM
`I don’t have any memory of fall season. I just read it from the books; saw it from the movies and internet. But I do have a memory of a childhood dream. It is a dream that one day I’ll be able to catch the falling leaves and experience the joy that surrounds the different trees with beautiful, golden browns, raking leaves as the wind blowing the leaves everywhere. Up until now, I’m still mesmerized with that dream. But when i reached the sunset of my life, will I have a memory of fall . Or it will remain a memory of a dream?

What I used:
Human- polymer clay, wire, tissue, glue
Trees- cable wire, tissue, glue, polymer clay, scouring pad, saw dust
(colored with fabric dye)
Fallen leaves- saw dust ( colored with fabric dye)
River- stones, pebbles, molten glue sticks
Bridge – ice cream container, popsicle sticks, rope
Terrain- plywood, paper, tissue
Grass- paint brush
Lamp post- gel pen, marker, cap of lighter fluid, led light
Fence- popsicle sticks
Back drop- oil on canvas

I had a lot of issues choosing a movie to do, because there were so many I liked... in the end I thought this would be the prettiest/ cutest idea, and that's always good.

So, the movie is The Last Unicorn. I think I saw it long ago as a child but barely remembered it, so I watched it again before I made this. The unicorn doesn't look exactly like the one in the movie, but I like how she turned out. I wasn't going to use real hair but I'm really glad I did.

The horse is made from super sculpey and superflex clay over wire and foil. Her hair is lamb fur, and she is painted in acrylics. The base is a wood plaque with moss, pebbles, and fabric flowers. the stones and waterfall are made from sculpey, and the water is...uh...glue. lol. Fake water is too runny and would not have worked, plus the lines I made from the glue gun make it look like running water.

Mustache the Food for Men's Health
Since it's Movember, and many issues of health are about food, how about we create a snack station with the theme of mustache?

We know it’s traditional for Mo Bros and Mo Sistas to celebrate their awareness and fundraising efforts by throwing a Movember party at the end of the month. --- [link]
Since I am not able to join the party with the Mo Bros and Sistas, I decided to make a miniature version of the party setting to celebrate the month ☺

On the table are many different pastry and dessert with mustache and eyeglasses to symbolize the signature of men. Food include mustache cakes, cookies, croissant and Mont Blanc. All food items are handmade by me with air dry clay and paper.

I hope you like it like I enjoyed making it

One of a kind polymer clay sculpture by Nicole West.
Sculpture is 9" in height.

I did this piece for the Pinkitude contest. I'm a sculptor not a graphic artist so by no means do I think I even come close to the top submissions. There are so many beautiful ones! But I loved the idea for the contest. I never even got to meet my maternal grandmother or great aunt due to this disease. So I figured anything I could do towards the cause.

10% of the sale price of this piece will be donated to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. So lets hope I get many generous bids!

EDIT I was blown away to find that I had won a place in the contest.
I have seen a lot of really awesome entries and I do believe that more of the "just makeup" entries should have placed. as a lot of people mention. and it is not particularly fair that photoshop users tend to be favored in contests and such. But it kind of irks me when people complain that prosthetics aren't masks or are "too easy"

I didn't go to school for makeup at all. not at ALL. I decided one day to spend some of my commission money to purchase some mask latex, some plasteline clay, some plaster and a plastic face form to begin working on making prosthetics any way I knew how. basically from looking really hard at how it's done through stuff on the internet. This process was not easy. sure. I could have just sculpted the original face out of oven bake clay or something and it probably wouldn't have been so ridiculed in such a way?? you think that's harder? I made the sculpt, made a mold out of plaster, made seperate molds for the gills. put it all together after I casted it in pigmented latex. painted the thing... put it on with a little spirit gum, and some random normal eyeshadow to blend it into my face which is all I had. I am NOT a skilled prosthetic maker or wearer. so you can get that out of your head right off the bat. lol.

So this is my entry into the Artisan Craft 'Spooky Crafts' contest. I have another one I'm hoping to get finished before the contest is over.

This is my favourite character from 'The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy and other stories'. I think I'll end up using it as my props journal for this year, and it was a lot of fun to make.

Figure and text plates made from polymer clay, plywood book base and many bits are actually sewn on. Took me about 3 days solid.

The bracelet consist of silver plated shiny black round chain, five handmade polymer clay villain figures, four polymer clay eyes (2 red and 2 yellow), acrylic green beads, acrylic red faceted beads, 2 lampwork pumpkins beads, 2 silver dangles, tiny silver bells, 2 metallic skull charms, red and green glass beads, red and green acrylic shiny matte beads, red and white bugle beads and 3 polymer clay liquorice sweets.
All polymer clay products are handmade by me!

It is 20cm long, but if you require another length please feel free to tell me ^^

Fairytale forest

My fall memory is an old forest, where no people have been.
I think the first of mushrooms, when I think of fall.
And as a child, my imagination working and I saw faces in the mushrooms.
I always thought there were gnomes and fairies.
Even though I saw them not, but in my imagination I see them.
The old gnome is waiting for the fairies, who like to rest in the forest.

The ground changes the most in the fall.
Leaves, acorns and chestnuts fall to the ground.
Everywhere appears moss and mushrooms.
The spiders are coming back.
The fall it's my favorite season and I go a lot of walking in the woods.

The diorama is made of Formo clay and Wood Paste.
I also used bark for the very old trees.

This is my favourite fall memory:

When I was a child, I used to play with my mother in our city park. I don't remember much about that time, but I know that I was really happy.

Everything is hand made. It is made of modeling clay, paper, wire, sand, pebbles, coconut fibre, mirror effect wallpaper ... on the walls are real photos of park taken by me.

Everytime I remember the fall season I think over all the garden tasks and how it gets more complicated than it should be.
Sometimes I feel inside a cartoon because all the comic situations that happens while I'm trying to keep all clean, but for some reason it is impossible.
And of course my neighbor doesn't miss a thing. (she is saying happens everytime)

Every thing is handmade. I used cold porcelain (a kind of air dry clay),cardboard, wire, plaster, foam, acetate, acrilic paint, permanent marker, polimer resin, varnish.

There it is! Fiiiinally! I've been working on this ever since the contest was announced. A sculpture of Lara Croft being attacked by a wolf, ONE of the most memorable scenes of the game, for me at least. Entirely handmade using polymer clay and apoxie sculpt. Also used some turf and bushes for the base, from woodland scenics. Lara measures 7 inches long and the wolf 8 inches. Oh, I've had a hard time taking good pictures T_T sorry about that!

Lara is my first full human sculpture I've ever done and I'm glad with how she turned out! Wish I had more time to work on this piece though but it's okay, I'll probably be doing more tomb raider sculptures in the future anyway! This project made me want to sculpt more characters!

Also, I've finished the game yesterday....And I CANNOT believe how awesome it is... I can't believe tomb raider has come this far! I'm so proud to be a fan! Outstanding job Crystal Dynamics, thank you for giving us this amazing game!

Faux Rock Rose Egg

Another easter egg (I know, you all are shocked)

The bit of blue you see peeking out from behind the roses is a mix of Premo! and Kato, the faux stone is all Premo! Done over a chicken egg shell.

Took an hour to make, so many little lines

Anyway, I seem to write better with clay than with a pen or pencil! I don't know if you can see it, but I wrote out "Deviantart" is clay on the second layer. And then there's a little Fella on top holding a 9, teehee!
I didn't use paint as usual, looks so much better if I don't, haha.

Fall makes me think of cute little creatures and pumpkins. Every fall, my husband and I go to a pumpkin patch and pick the perfect pumpkin. I've always wondered what happens whenever the pumpkin patch closes and everyone is gone. I like to think this is when all the animals come out from the woods to hangout and nibble on the leftover goodies.

Yay first deviantART contest!
I had to enter because Scott Pilgrim is awesome lol.

This is my 8th Evil Ex, Bud "The Bod' " Inkes who is a "famous" stuntman who especially get involved with Micheal Clay's explosive movies (Micheal Bay inspired lol).

This stuntman loves his stunts, thrill-seeking, his body, snowboarding, playing some video games such as "Snowboard Kids 2" and eating ALOT of food (like participating in eating contests). Ramona and Bud met after he was done getting filmed in an action scene. The reason he was dumped was not because of his sadistic personality, him being trigger happy with his guns or his outrageous stunts, but for his sloppy eating and for blowing up her computer (which he claims as an accident due to his nature of being a little clumsy lol). RAMONA DIDN'T LIKE THAT AT ALL. Bud best friend is Lucas Lee due to both liking snowboarding, skateboarding, and MOUNTAIN DEW. When Bud became one of the most wealthy stuntmen in the world, he help sky rocket his skateboarding friend's career in the movies.

He has two pistols, super agility, able to create any size explosions out of thin air, and able to inhale enemies and objects and when swallowed gain an ability from them. (Like the pink cute Nintendo icon we all know and love ) I slipped in a couple of video game icons because that's what Scott Pilgrim is cool for! The video game references!

But then I thought "WITH THESE POWERS HE STILL SEEM HE WOULDN'T BE FIT TO BE A FINAL BOSS FOR SCOTT!" Even though his explosions can be combusted to a size of a city. So making suspense behind the character is what I'll do. So! Bud also keeps a secret of his real name and identity which is Vincent Jr. He doesn't speak of his real name or who he actually is. If you know of Monica Beetle (a short comic by Bryan Lee O'Malley) and connect the main boy character, Vincent, of the Monica Beetle comic and Bud Inkes... there you go lol. Sorry I had to do it! I haven't seen this yet *COUGH* unknown evil half brother *COUGH* When he hears of Scott, Gideon's defeat, and knows about Ramona and him, he just go crazy. Bud goes to Toronto and meets up with one of his good Facebook friends, Michael Comeau, to find where Scott is because Comeau knows everybody. He finds Scott and challenges him. Wallace, being a huge fan of Bud (particularly his body), watches happily (LOL).

I had to squeeze this lil background of him in cuz I kinda like this crazy dude lol. Yay sadistic stuntman!

Bud: The name's Bud.... Bud "The Bod' " Inkes.
Scott: Can I call you Buddy?
Bud: NO!
Scott: ....Buddy sounds friendlier.
Bud: I said NO!
Scott: So you're a famous known stuntman?
Bud: Yes I am. *poses proudly*
Scott:.....stuntmen can be known?
Bud: WHAT!?
Scott: Hey just saying.... stuntmen faces aren't shown in movies soooo.... kinda nonexistent.... What's the point?
Bud: You see me do work. I mean look at this bod! *points at chest*
Scott: I'm uncomfortable now..... Well it's starting to make sense. You being stuntman and the 8th Ex.... Both pretty much nonexistent.
Bud: ....... Ok you? You're getting slammed with a car door.

Monkeys in the Snow

One day, when I was a kid, my family and I were going for a hike in Colorado. I remember snow on the ground, and all around us were beautiful aspen trees. We had been noticing different kinds of animal tracks in the snow, and my parents explained which were that of deer, bears, etc. Well, my aunt suddenly showed me some other tracks, and said to me, "Do you know what those tracks belong to? Monkeys." I looked for monkeys for the rest of the hike, hoping I might spot one.

Later, my aunt showed me how she had in fact made these "monkey prints" in the snow with her own fists. I hope one day I can show these my own daughter while she is still young enough; we don't get much snow where we live, though.

This diorama is of my memory of envisioning monkeys in the snow in Colorado, and what I think it would have been like to have found one.

The little girl and monkey are both completely sculpted, painted, wigged/furred by hand. The entire diorama is made from scratch.

UPDATE: He won 2nd place!!

When I read about the contest the first thing that popped into my head was werewolf! Full fursuit with muzzle, fangs, and claws. Everything is hand-sewn.

Materials:
Eyes: His "contact lenses" are painted plastic (paint the front with sharpie markers, the back with white acrylic paint). A werewolf is just not a werewolf if its eyes don't change.

Muzzle: Hand-sculpted polystyrene (knife and wood-burning tool), muslin fabric, glued on loose hair fibers, painted polymer clay for nose and fangs. It is attached to a full head harness made of muslin.

Paws: His claws are painted polymer clay and are glued into old socks. The fur was sewn around it.

Fur: Hand-sewn faux fur. And yes, this guy sheds like a sheepdog!!!

Took 1 week to sew everything together and is my first time using faux fur, making a fursuit, and mixing sculpture and fabric directly together.

_{... is fancy. Fancy Bear is sophisticated. Fancy Bear is the epitome of class. Some ask him how he does it, and, with the tip of a hat, he replies, "Why, its my magic moustache."

This is for the craft a moustache contest- [link]. I decided to create a fancy little bear with a terrific moustache.

The photo is horrible, I know. As is my cheap camera at taking pictures.

Fancy Bear (yes, that is his real name) is 1½ inches tall (1¾ with the hat). He is handmade by me out of polymer clay, painted with acrylics, and has glaze on all of his accessories.

I reeeaaallllly hope I win.
