The first two lines of this came to me as I was falling asleep and immediately they had to be written about. They demanded it. The problem was, carrow is not a word. I looked and looked but no other word was right in my mind. I thought perhaps I could solve this riddle if I thought about what I meant by it.

I was thinking about creepy little creatures, sinister and defective, prowling, hunting through the woods. As a metaphor for bad things happening in life. Mental health. Fate. Whatever you like...

and I decided that, fuck everything, I like the word carrow. But I couldn't quite explain what I meant by it, just that it felt right. A mixture of words like narrow, carbuncle, cantankerous, sour, carouse, carnage, carnivore,

So then I decided to continue on, but not be constrained necessarily by the meaning of individual words. To purposefully misuse a word (meaning wise) if it fits sound wise, or in some other way. So there are some instances like (undefined, disparic and arachnic) where words got made up (undefined, disparic, arachnid-like for those of you wondering), but mostly existing words got bent into a new shape.

Cursive reminded me of motion, and the flick of the pen. I imagined this as an insect hitting a wall with force, and combined with the curs (which reminded me of cursing and thus anger) I used this word.

Strumpet, like trumpet but with a darker seductive tone. It hints that the demons might not be displeasing to the eye.

Cheery, this should be anything but cheery, but I liked it. I thought about tampering with it more and making it cherry, but I am happy with cheery. It also sounds like this word should be cherry to rhyme with merry, and this disjointed feeling matches the meaning.

Creaky spinsters, which would be creepy spiders. I've called spiders spinsters in my poetry before (they spin webs! They are spinsters!) so that's not new, but creaky I liked. Gave an audio layer to the work...

and finally the title; Broken Birds and Stark Phrases was originally Broken Words from Dark Places.

So all in all I hope you guys enjoyed my creepy dark poem about life as a mutant, and my bastardisation of the English language. Oh and I rhymed, which I never do... so.. there's that.

I don't really know what it is, I was just bored and wanted to take a break from what I was animating before (my friends are going to kill me for that) and I came up with this.

He is very long and thin like a cheetah, has a kind of rodent-like face, hooves on his back legs, and a thin tail with a tuft at the end. Again, I have no idea.

Wow I didn't realize this was so fast...but I don't feel like changing it, so too bad for you

Rock Diver

Remi Niscence is a digging spirit that spends most of her time exploring the crust of the earth, excavating historical relics and crude caveman erotica. Equipped with pick and shovel, she tears through rock at such a rate as to earn her the nickname “Rock Diver.” Her pick is named Persson, and her shovel is named Spinks. The box she doesn't call anything, but its name is Tarnzach.

Remi mainly looks for two things as she goes through the earth:
　1) spelunkers to rescue/flirt with, and
　2) junk.
More specifically, “junk” of sentimental value, which she hoards in the box on her back. She loves this stuff and will go out of her way to collect buttons and broken glasses and anything else that might have been associated with some sort of precious memory. On the other hand, she couldn’t care less for naturally occurring ores and gemstones.

Anyhow, Remi is able to kind of "Sherlock Holmes" a history out of the artifacts she collects, and maybe even converse with the ghosts of the past if she can figure out enough of the back story. Here are a couple of her favorite figures from her collection (starting from the closest to Remi in the picture and then moving up and out):

　The Tin Knight - an automaton from the Tin Age. He has hearing loss in his right ear, and is bothered by a constant ringing. His model was discontinued in favor of mecha musume. (artifact: tiny fork)

　Sylphie - an avant garde seamstress. She invented the Surprise Dress. The surprise is that it bursts into flames when exposed to sunlight. (artifact: chicken cage)

　Ayah (sp?) - not really sure what the deal is with this one; maybe a scholar or something? Remi is unable to pinpoint which time period and country she's from. (artifact: bookmark)

　Mendelgrove - a gardening spirit who used to tend to a hundred trees, right up until it was taken over by a hundred bees. He was like “**** it,” and left. (artifact: ribbon)

　Dom Dominic - a dragon! Also an agricultural professor and a trader. He likes young ladies and smoking meats & cheeses in his pipe. (artifact: mesquite smoking pipe)

　Saburo - a once noble and chivalrous warrior. He got lost underground while chasing a gopher. He never did get to eat it in the end. (artifact: the handle to his blade)

　Sparrow Kid - emissary from the Heliotropics. Was really excited to visit the country, up until he learned about the indigenous giant land spider. (artifact: tear stained sky boat ticket stub)

　Hanasaka Ojou - Princess of flower girls. Wears spaulders to protect her from beggars and arrows. Cannot sell flowers to save her life. Might be how she died ^{[citation needed]}. (artifact: tin beetle)

　Lion Herschel - the blind king of the Underground, which apparently was a kingdom that nobody knew about. There were dwarves, and he ate them. (artifact: mustache comb)

　Somnia - how the goddess of sleep ended up losing anything down so deep in the earth is a mystery. So is the item she lost. (artifact: moped)

Whew! That took a while. I spent almost an entire evening just trying to come up with these characters. I started sketching this thing at the start of the month, and now we’re already more than 2 weeks in! I will hopefully have this as a print at AX (did I mention that, by the way? I’m going to table at AX again this year!). I ended up switching back and forth between Manga Studio and Flash several times to get this done:

　1) sketch in Flash
　2) paint background in Manga Studio
　3) try to paint characters in Manga Studio, then give up
　4) go back to Flash, drawing the characters there
　5) export the character colors and lighting as separate layers
　6 ) import them into Manga Studio and do some touch-up work to make it look a little less “vectory”

It was a long process, but I think it was worth it and I am pleased with how it turned out.

Miscellaneous trivia:
- Remi was originally sketched as a boy. Then I was like “I want to cast light on breasts,” and so now she is a chick. - Drawing is FUN!
- I had just finished watching YuYu Hakusho when I started this. Her baggy shirt and high-waist pants are a tribute to the fashion of the early 90’s.
- Saburo’s original name was “Bonin’ Ronin,” but I decided to keep that to myself. Until now! Now you know my secret!
- Sylphie and the Tin Knight were originally sketched to be Remi’s parents. Maybe it would have been cooler if all these people had some sort of personal ties to her? Too late for second thoughts now, though - I need to upload this thing!

Hello everyone, this is my character design in the creation of a science fiction story. Of course, this is just the first one. He's urban development planning Bureau created by a Government Department in the middle of 21st century. In the Super City, he will be responsible for the supervision and management of the city maintenance. Helmet design was the focus of the characters section. Type I helmet design into an arc. It will give a certain love. Armor is made of hard materials by ABM memory. Armor built urban monitoring network systems and helmet add advanced augmented reality. UMMT is equipped with a 10 mm subsonic HRT rifle manufactured by ARI company.To make armor has a strong sense of manufacturing I pasted over some yellow warning label on the helmet and some other identity. Its very interesting. Finally, looking forward to the next piece. (Story concept in the last release)

The previous layout and code I had a weird bug, wherein fullsized images would appear squashed unless opened in a new tab or window. Considering how much art I upload there, I figured it was due time I got off my butt and fixed the glitch, by way of redesigning a new layout with updated versions of my toons. It's still a work in progress, but I think it looks a lot nicer now.

I adopted this character from *Jonou ^^
She is Natasha, Space cat.
She loves her sister, Miriami.
Her age is unknown and she has some magical powers.
Her "rings" on her head makes it possible to use magic.

She is from outher space and no one knows from where...
She have lost her memory about her past and she is not sure where she is from...

Hey, hi, hello!

I went to Malibu Beach today and saw a guy with the most unique looking body structure.

He was going around on a skimboard and was there with his family (quite a few of them and also lovely) next to our spot. Actually I'm pretty sure it was pectus excavatum ([link] that he had though. His chest had a large cavity and his rib cage jutted out quite a bit at the bottom and was highly defined as well as his spine and the sinews in his back, spreading through his wide shoulders and arms and wow I thought he looked beautiful.
So I eventually I got the guts and and went up to tell him that randomly.
I just walked up close to the water where he was and got his attention:

"Hey, hi, hello!”

He noticed me there and came over with a friendly, curious smile.
“I just wanted to say you have such a beautiful and unique bone structure and I love it."
He got kind of flustered but grinned extremely wide, "Oh, well, thank you!"
"I just really felt I should mention it cuz ahh it looks so fantastic." I gestured to his everything dramatically.
He points to his chest cavity, "Is it because of this?"
Clearly, it’s a feature of his that is prone to bringing conversation on occasion.

"Hmm, well, partly. I just think you look great all over. All of them are so well defined and lovely. You just look great."

He blushes again and can't stop smiling as he looks away shyly and shuffles gripping his skimboard, "Well, thanks. haha"

I begin to walk further away as I shrug and continue to make dramatic hand gestures, "I'm an artist so... I really like seeing different body structures like that and I just get excited when I see it. Sorry if this is kind of weird and out of nowhere."

"No, no, it's fine! Thank you very much~"

And we parted was and I got my pants soaked by an unexpected wave and screeched in exclamation.
A mild success for another human interaction. Sort of. Close enough.

I don't really know anything he might be going through personally whether it's psychologically or medically, but I really hope I brightened his day at least a bit with my words. I do worry for anything he might be going through with that since I guess it's normally seen as a deformity?? It hardly crossed my mind at the time and I hope I didn't come off as insensitive...

But he was smiling a lot and I caught him looking at his chest a few times that day like a cutie before he left (not too much after I did that his family packed up). So I can hope for the best at least.
Also I think it might have been his grandma that was using sign language but I just loved watching them interact. She was collecting bunches of seaweed for some reason but she was just smiling so much and I couldn't help but smile too watching them all. His whole family was just wonderful to watch and really cute shucks. Ahhhh I love people watching~ It’s so inspiring for me.

In summary: I had a ton of fun while I was there and I'm glad I went today and talked to him and saw all the pretty, lovely things ~ UvU
