● The visual style is perfectly compatible with both versions of vista, x86 (32bit) and x64 (64bit) SP1 and SP2, but it is not been tested on the SP0.
● If you have Windows Vista 64bit SP1 and want to use SteelFlash Final (2008 version) please download this package: [link]

● Before use this visual style
- Make sure you have rightly patched your system with the uxtheme patches or vistaglazz.
- If you want to manually patch your system , follow this guide [link] and use these files You can find them here: [link]
- If you want to automatically patch your system, use vistaglazz: [link] (re-patch if you updated from SP1 to SP2)
- If you have Windows Vista SP2, you can also use this patch: [link]
I didn't tried it but thanks to ~cclloyd9785 for the submission.

● To use a Patcher, place it where the visual style is located (C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\SteelFlash 100k\) and run it as administrator.

● If you want to use the smaller taskbar instead of the original, follow these passages:
-Rename the "steelflash 100k.msstyles" to something like "steelflash 100k-copy.msstyles"
-Rename the "steelflash 100k normal button.msstyles" to "steelflash 100k.msstyles"
-Apply one of the .theme files on the \themes\ folder

● To increase the size of the quick launch buttons, do that: ([link])
- Right click on a empty area of the taskbar.
- Click Lock the Taskbar to uncheck it.
- Right click on a empty area of the Quick Launch area between the dotted bars and the icons.
- Click View and click on either Small Icons or Large Icons to check the icon size you want.

Hi guys!

UPDATE 2/9/2009

The system files now are Working on any Windows Vista version (SP0, SP1, SP2).
Taskbar buttons
Some small fixes
Windows explorer borders more like Windows 7
Fixed Start Menu Shutdown/Lock Buttons ( no more bugs!).
...plus some other small visual changes.

The Theme works now on Windows Vista Home Basic WITH Aero Transparency enable!!!!!!

Transblack FINAL version is out

i call this version 1
cuz u thinking of doing more stuff on it
and maybe change som mayor stuff
il see what it turns out

it would take ages to work on it all

as u can see in the preview i included som stuff
i didnt include the OD skin cuz, everyone doesnt use that
so u can find it in my gallery

installation

use vistaglazz (google) then patch ur windows file so u can use an visualstyle

put the folder in normal or autohide
in the windows>resources>themes folder
then go in personalize>window color and apparence then open classic appearance properties to change it

the browseui.dll i recommend to use either total commandor or restorator to change it, its located in windows>system32 folder, in restorator just run it as administrator open the browseui.dll from my theme, and replace it (make a backup of the old one, i think restorator do that for u)

and it should work after u restart explorer

im sry for my bad english!

This is my very first visual style for Windows Vista. Take about 1 month to finished.

Here is what has been my latest obsession since the last update to Vega, stage 2 ProjectX. (made with fresh resources, the original ProjectX was not recycled)

After applying the Visual Style, set your color to "Graphite" and your color intensity control to about 5-10% (real low). The reason is even though the borders are made black, Vista still adds a very slight tint to the default color.

-Visual Style (32 or 64bit)

May be too little too late, but here it is. I used this as a base to make up for lost time.

Notes:
Because the borders are/almost a pure white, be careful on choosing a wallpaper. The taskbar and borders get "washed out" real easy on bright wallpapers. I suggest a dark one or at least one that has consistent color without bright spots. The taskbar only looks right when used on the bottom, where a Windows taskbar belongs. Browseui.dll does not display correctly on Basic mode. I may update to show the search on start menu. Finally, the shellstyle is designed for the top shell mod (included shell32.dll). If you don't use top shell, modify the shell/find another/turn off by Organize -> Layout -> Details Pane.

I may modify later to show the search on the start menu.

KNOWN ISSUES

_{Resource Monitor shares with the titlebar text color (white) -- becomes difficult to read on the gray gradient it sits on. This will have to be fixed outside the theme by hacking the Resource Monitor (maybe hexing the gradient or replacing the image)... wouldn't know where to look, though .}

Hopefully these are the last of the major bugs. Perfection and compatability with everything is an impossible task with custom msstyles on Vista, but I want to get as close to it as possible! The reason why it is impossible: Some programs use their own code along with code pulled from the msstyles -- that can spawn problems as the programmer created the program to work with the default Vista Aero theme. Also, because Vista msstyles does a lot of sharing with global properties. I had to implement many properties in many different parts and states for custom styling! xD So let's hope this version goes smoothly so we can get some variations going for V4!}

_{Kiilki VS for Vista !

Took me about 1 month and a half to make it up.
It's by far the most complete theme I've ever made.
Comes in 2 versions, normal and slim, slim being more minimal but with reduced usability.
Please take the time to read the .txt file. I won't answer questions that are already answered there.
Don't forget to install the fonts before applying the theme, too.
If you use it and like it, please give a fav, you don't have to but it's always nice to me. It's not like I'm getting paid for this

i dont know if that has something to do that my system files work

but if u can u should test it.. its rly great app and u can do alots with it

---The Stuff---
New IeFrame.dll will change color of tabs and new back & forth buttons.
C:\Windows\System32\Ieframe.dll

New Browseui.dll will change the back & forth buttons to match IeFrame.dll.
C:\Windows\System32\browseui.dll

And lastly drag theme files into c:\windows\resources\themes.

All these files must be replaced from your current files for the complete effect. Follow procedures included in this pack. Be careful as they are system files and if not properly replaced it may cause your system not to start.

To the “newbies” I stress the fact, go slow and follow directions properly!

The instructions...

First of all, we as themers sometimes forget how difficult it was for us in the beginning to install these themes and change .dll files so that we may max out our visual style or theme experience. I realize how frustrating it must be when our PC does not start after we change any .dll or .exe file.

So do it at your own risk!

Below there is an explanation on how to step by step on what to do to install any theme with all the bells and whistles. These instructions, of course, are only for the Windows Vista SP1 Operating System.

First thing to do is disable UAC. Go into control Panel and click on Administrative Tools, then Local Security Policy, then choose Security Options, Scroll to User Account Control; Run all Administrators in Admin Approval mode double click it and disable UAC. This will now allow you to change anything on your Vista Operating system without OS informing you don’t have Admin privileges. You will still have to take ownership of files to rename and replace them.

In order to take ownership or rename any .dll or .exe files right click on any .dll or .exe file, Go into properties...Tab into security...Click Advanced, Tab into Owner, Click Edit, Highlight Administrators and apply, click yes when prompted...then exit out of properties all together, Right Click the .dll file again, Go into properties...Tab into security... then click edit, Highlight Administrators, Click allow full control and apply, click yes when prompted...and you’re done...Now all you have to do is replace old with new.

In order to do this… you must rename the old IE;
ieframe.dll as ieframe.dll. old and drag the included ieframe.dll in c:\Windows\System32\

Then Restart. You don’t have to restart, but it is the easiest way.

Secondly you must patch your system. You can either use Tune Up Utilities, the beta version of VistaGlazz or patch it manually.

Just follow instructions stated in the link

Be Careful! Especially if you are replacing Explorer.exe, IeFrame.dll or Brouwseui.dll on account any of these will, if not properly renamed or replaced, might cause your PC not to work properly or start at all. SO I WOULD CHANGE ALL FILES VERY SLOWLY and carefully and follow instructions so that no issues arise.

But if in case something does go wrong, a system restore will do the trick, if it does not… Use your Windows Vista installation disk… You must reboot with Windows Vista Installation CD in drive and boot with CD when prompted. You will have to choose repair your PC and it will prompt you to choose method, choose System Restore. Now you will be able to restore with no problems as disk will have necessary files that you may have deleted or changed and is not allowing you to restore without disk.

Then all you have to do is try again. Have fun!

1) creating a matching VS to 's great ThaImpact wall and objectdock skin

2) lack of dark themes for Windows Vista

This is a brief mix of NOOTOR and the original NOOTO . It has a dominant GTK flavor vs. the original.

It isn't intended to be an exact replica of either. That said, it doesn't have the original start menu, rather just one that matches the style.

Installation:
To use custom visual styles you need to patch your system, via VistaGlazz, TuneUp Utilities or the files inside the package manually.

Next unpack "Shine" folder in "Style" to 'C:\Windows\Resources\Themes' (where C is the partition with Windows installed)

Now you can change the visual style by clicking any .msstyle file, or via 'Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Personalization\Window Color and Appearance'

You need to ask for permition to use images of this style

well its all done
but there were some more stuff i should do on it
but everyone has asked for it so much so thought i could release it like this right now

To get the best view of this
go to
right click on desktop choose personalize>window color and appearance>open classic apparance for more colors bla bla

hit the visualstyle and hit advanced then choose menu
and change the menu color to something lighter
like white or whatever u want.. light blue maybe
and hit apply

the go back to window color and apparance (where u choose colors of aero) and hit graphite with like 70-80% intensity

and it will be good ^^

includes a BASIC version aswell

i will probably release an update soon

but yeah.. this is what u get for now

- All the system files are made to work together (for example, if you install the visual style without the shell32.dll, the left part of your control panel will look like shit!).
- The folder band toolbar is in auto-hide mode, I don't use it at all, so a simple mouse over will make it appear.

Maxclear V3 Re-release theme created by Sonicexcess. Release date 05.06.07.

UPDATED 03.08.07 TO FIX PROBLEM AFTER WINDOWS UPDATE ERROR

This is an update to my Maxclear V3 theme. New orb and some minor changes to the shell and glass.

There are a lot, and I mean a lot, of very subtle differences in V3 compared to V2. Most people will not see them at
first. But then there are the obvious changes. New start menu with uniformed glass. New flat glass taskbar. New
improved start orb and most of all the more transparent glass all around. There is also a new sidebar style to go
with the theme.There is also the Metallic silver basic theme for people who cant use Aero as seen in V2.

As you see,a leopard theme for vista.
I added the large shadow to my new theme,so make it more like Mac OS.
Also,I try my best to make it smooth(especially the rounded corners of the window)
I suggest to turn down the color intensity as the lowest.(in window color and appearance) ,or the border of the window will with a color,not grey.

I wanted to continue on a grey theme working off my past visual style GlaSsCleAR GReY. This package will include all files needed to make your PC as grey as possible but with style and elegance. I included my first basic style and I will assure you, you’ll like it! I spent a couple of months working on it and just about played with every PNG & BMP image files available. I’ve even created my first shell style. All files are original to my work. I hope you will all enjoy this theme. A few system files must be replaced and theme applied.

---The Stuff---
New Explorer.exe which changes the userpic and power off buttons to match my theme
C:\Windows\explorer.exe

New IeFrame.dll will change color of tabs and new back & forth buttons.
C:\Windows\System32\Ieframe.dll

New Browseui.dll will change the back & forth buttons to match IeFrame.dll.
C:\Windows\System32\browseui.dll

New Imageres.dll which changes all your Menu icons to grayscale and your boot screens.
C:\Windows\System32\imageres.dll

And lastly drag theme files into c:\windows\resources\themes.

All these files must be replaced from your current files for the complete effect. Follow procedures included in this pack. Be careful as they are system files and if not properly replaced it may cause your system not to start. But don’t be afraid as everything can always be restored. As usual any comment is welcomed and appreciated.

Comes with a compact start menu so I recommend keeping the items on the right side of the start menu to a minimal (9 looks good on mine), cause tall compact menus just look crazy weird n stuff.

ZEUS OS X : FOS designing rules, follow the principles of abstractiveness and simplicity, under Zeus inspiration.

IN ancient and in nowdays Hellenic (=Greek) [ Active CODE ] language, every letter, and every word is a specific number , and it has a specific meaning.

ZEUS ( or DEUS or DIAS) is Master of immortal Gods in Hellenic (=Greek) Active CODE [arithmetic machine logic] language.

His Main weapon is lightning and lightnes. He could transformate his alive code MATERIAL BEING to whatever He likes.

APPLE is the given gift from ZEUS, in this Hellenic (=Greek) tradition.(so the using of apple logo i choose, and ancient hellenic(=greek) symbols like maianders, tetraskelion of Zeus [=svasticas = gammadion],crosses and much more )

SO , i am trying to show the relations of the clasic hellenic=greek with modern times and eternity.

The light comes from apple's technology, interface also looking, and i Think that it is our choice to transforn it as a part of progress in our tradition style.

On screenshot there exist a golden chest of king Philip II , father of Alexander the Great, with the sixteenth Macedonian Sun, from Macedonia Hellas Greece (3rd century bC). [link]

My work is based on the spirit of os X, and not a copy of it.

With VistaStyleBuilder many things on the mstyle, can changed, and that is fantastic for any themer and user.

Though 2 main questions of mine, on windows vista mstyle had not answered :

1.not found how the mouse over text color on the main white right area of a window will become from normal black to mouse ovr/pressed white .

2. not found how the aero close,min,max buttons coul be in closer distance.

Attention: For having the right view of the 1 pixel side border of the leopard style Visual styles you must do first this:

Make the aero borders invisible as possible via changing color intensity and brightness:

right clik to your desktop, select Personalise.

then select first (1) choice 'Window Color and Appearance'. Select enable transparency.

then select on 'color intencity' slider button to the start (full to the left), so there will be with no color as possible.

then select 'SHOW COLOR MIXER' , select second (2) slider 'saturation' button ( full to the left), so there will be with no color as possible.

select the third (3) slider button 'Brightness' (near the middle, or between midle and right, depending from the color of the background wallpaper you use it) so there will be invisible as possible the borders of the windows of the current 'leopard no border style' visual styles of the theme.

There are 2 main categories of the visual styles i made.
The first categorie is for using them on Aero mode, and the second is for using only on Aero Basic mode.
The reason is because the windows system change the dimentions of an mstyle.
Also there are some subcategories in each one of those 2 categories.
In some of the visual styles i made [to those with letter X at the end of their title], i have added on the place of the adreessband, a kind of buttons that on native are only glyphs, only images with not any propertie on them.

The reason for made this kind of visual styles having designed buttons without functionality, is that if someone makes an application which could set windows vista commands to the place of the address bar, as i have described and asked for, because on normal microsoft visual style there is no space, what i did is ''realeased'' space, for enabling exist that application, by removing the adressbar ''ropertie'' to the right size of the window, then we will have a kind of fuctionality to them.

The idea of me was if with only 1 or 2 clik of the mouse the user could control a window's area, and not as now, who has to open several menus.
This added designed buttons has problem onInternet explorer as they leave little space for the web adresses on adressbar. But on pack included visual styles also with not this added buttons.

description in general for the visual styles:

no horiziontal line on the down size of navigation pane [little up from where explorer ' Folders ' exist

internal borders on navigation pane and on the main right surface of the window

new redesigned style of butons (browseui.dll + image elements redesigned on mac style see forexample search

NEW menu bar on applications (= menu bar for notepad, photoshop etc), and new butons with white mouse over text. [link]

NEW menu bar on explorer window (= menu bar for my computer, my documents etc), and white mouse over text.

New searchbar redesigned. Specific designed [searchbar]on start menu bar, new white arrow on All Programs.

New designed light blue tab item ,toolbar, and butons for browser, see on internet explorer [link]

New Comunications blue [mac spotlight style] toolbar and buttons [transparent style ones], see on Windows Fax and Scan. [link]

The transparent version based on the brushed style.
Basic brushed version has closer the close,max,min buttons.
Those with the L LETTER mean with long height of titlebar, and those with S letter mean with a shorter height of titlebar.

I N S T R U C T I O N S

There are on this download, visual styles, there are forward and backwards buttons and Welcome Center for
1 : windows vista 32 bit version and
2:windows vista 64 bit version,
so be carefull to take the files that will work with the system you are using so BE CaREFULL.

Visual styles are used on all versions of windows vista.
Only the forward and backwards buttons and Welcome Center have to be choosen for the correct windows vista platform 32 or 64 bit of your system.

so : First do a restore poin to your system. Then :

1. To use the visual styles ( mstyle) , you must install a Patched uxtheme.dll ,
[ i.e. Go to website: [[link] ] please find the right version for your system.[for example vista 32bit sp0 etc ] Credit goes to Rafael Rivera for his amazing work on patch files
or better do this : Rafael has made a similar solution/ small application, download from [link]

ALSO INSTEAD OF ALL THOSE an alternative solution is to buy AveStyler application [link] [about 3 euros] AND very ease you can change your visual styles .

OR [ Also If you want to see quiqly the visual style (without the other system files have to be replaced , forexample without ZEUS Back & Forward Buttons ) and the procces changing uxtheme is difficult, then use VistaGlazz, [ [link] ] BECAUSE the vista shows all the visual styles as aero and aero basic please download DeskHack for Windows Vista, [ [link] ] and make enable to see the visual styles on vista with their real name.

2. Copy folder ZEUSosX cursors , to C: \ WINDOWS \ Cursors \ OS X Cursors [this version i use is a little different than the old ones on past]
right clik to your desktop, a small menu window appears select at the bottom personalization.
now opened the personalization window, select the 5th choice clik to it, a smaller window appears [named mouse properties], select the first choice Normal select , then go to the bottom right where it is written Browse and then open the named ''osx cursors'' folder which you have setted inside the C:\Windows\Cursors and select the named 1.Normal select, cursor from there, do the same for all , and at the end when finished ''save as'' ,your choice name at the top of this little window.

Copy any WALLPAPERS you download to C: \ WINDOWS \ Web \ Wallpaper.

3. OPEN each of the folders having VISTA VISUAL STYLES [after unzip all files, and copy the visual styles included, to "C:\ windows \ Resources / Themes /" (provided C is your Windows drive).

Open there ["C:\ windows \ Resources / Themes /"] a visual style folder and inside there are 3 folders, to that with the name of the visual style make a double clik the a small window menu appears , where you can choose the visual style you want.

a. Obtain Permisions and Ownership of Both browseui.dll and oobefldr.dll
Located in Windows\System32 [usually in C: drive]
b. Backup you original browseui.dll and oobefldr.dll by renaming them Browseui.old and oobefldr.old
c. Copy browseui.dll and oobefldr.dll from this pack to Windows\System32
d. Log off and back on to see changes.
(use the "Obtaining Permissions and ownership.txt" for help on installing)

The theme will have some limitations in use, as i have not enough time to complete, in the way i want, and the modification of the designing rules follow the principles of abstractiveness and simplicity under Zeus inspiration.

LIMITATIONS AND CONDITIONS OF USING

1. do not change border padings.

Also as i have written Make the aero borders invisible as possible via changing color intencity and brightnes (see to the top of text, also it is written in the Read me text included in the theme, also the picture [link] dont forget that the slider of brightnes could be in different position depending the brightness of the wallpaper background you use)

2. do not change font size (leave it 96 dpi font size)

3. on menu, the number of recent programs to display must be around 6,[or whatever value it makes the lines on menu, having equal positions] via right clik to your taskbar appears Taskbar and start menu propperties
and then select start menu/customize/ start menu size, number of recent programs to display change it to 6(OR 7, OR WHATEVER).

4. circle style image does not looking well, to long Height shape elements that they use it, as because some applications use it different than windows do.

5. To appear the folderband you have to right clik over file 'Folders' on your navigation pane, when using autohide folderband shellstyle.dll. Also to appear the Status Bar that exist at the bottom of every window, see [link]

Main limitation on visual styles having vertical separator only 1 pixel like leopard : because of only 1 pixel of vertical separator, for select it this 1 pixel for drag the separator right or left, must do this: setting the mouse on the 1 pixel vertical separator as the shape of the mouse pointer becomes like <--->, then movie it first steady and slowly a little to the vertical axis having always this shape <---> of the mouse pointer, and after u drag it to rirgt or left.

6. ADDING SHadows effect around your Window.
For having shadows and have better of the theme looking, please use YzShadow .(my oppinion for working correct is to use it on vista as compatible with windows xp, via right click on YzShadow properties/copatibilities/ run this program in compatibiity mode, select windows xp).

then go again go to control panel/clasic view/folder options then go to view and deselect show hidden files and folders.

(do the same for any other application, but only if you trust it, and does not automatically work with the start up of windows) [if you want also to uninstall an application , like leftsider and reinstall a new version of it, you have first go to "C:\Users\[enter your username here]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\" and delete the folder called "leftsider" = delete the folder with the name of the application , in this case current "leftsider".]

Surprise project

First of all: if you find bugs, fix them your own, cause I won't take requests of modyfing the skin. As I support mods for personal use, feel free to tweak this skin. Now, if you ever think of releasing your mod, CONTACT ME FIRST. I'll sure give permssion, but you know the rules.

Thanks to Sahtel08 for his lessons and friendship, and for being the pioneer of Vista theming. His 4074 Aero skin is awesome, it's base of my of work (with his concern), and if I was you, I'd give it a try too since it's one of the best Vista themes around.

Also, to UkIntel, idas and psycoB, for their Vista hacking/hex-editing finds. Without them, I wouldn't be able to finish my work. Please keep doing this awesome work guys.

to use this theme you MUST DISABLE BLUR! it is a harmless advanced option that you can enable with this tool [link] note that you can re-enable blur at any time.

UPDATES: fix a few taskbar issues and added LARGE fonts
(the grouped taskbar buttons will look a little wider than normal, this is unavoidable due to the images, and margins)
