Love. It comes in so many forms. You can feel it in a thousand different ways, for so many different people and even over a piece of artwork...

This is a thank you to express my love to you guys. It's a simple wallpaper with a girl, a girl who hold so much love, just waiting to be unlocked.

I'm currently working of some more complex drawings, they just take me so long, especially with a hectic life, so this is a nice little break, sorry I haven't uploaded for ages. Better things will follow, honest ^_^; The heart shaped hair I feel I could have done much better...

Though I have to say last night I was looking at this drawing and exasperating over it. I could have done much better. I'm working on a portrait at the moment which has made me realise all the places I went wrong in this! I'll post the new one up soon

jongyu in high school? middle school? lol. idk. sometimes i imagine them as best friends hanging out in some forest, or under a tree, behind the school building. jonghyun would be writing lyrics instead of studying, and jinki would be advance reading his science, or math book. X))

welp. my exams for the week got canceled. i have no classes to attend to right now til monday. but there's training, and i have to complete my 324 hours. D: so as much as i want to continue practicing, drawing, i have to, ugh, get up from my really really comfy chair. sob. /dramatically waves goodbye at my spot on my desk.

WOW, I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S BEEN TWO SINCE I WAS CRYING IN MY DAD'S CAR WHEN I READ THE TWEET ABOUT PANIC'S OFFICIAL SPLIT. this is just a memorial for Panic from the years 2006-2009. The top picture was from their first photo shoot with Jon as their official bassist & the bottom picture was one of the last photos of them as a band before their last performance all together in South Africa.

I got the photo from [link] , messed around with the colouring, the brightness and the contrast and added a simple background. I had a really cool background lined up but decided my preliminary one-colour one looked better seeing as the main focus is Jake, innit?

And by the way, to the ..person who keeps trying to dob me in for "copyright violations", I've specifically mentioned where I got the picture and what I did to it. Therefore (having read all the technical mumbo jumbo) I'm not breaking any rule. Don't you think that I'd much rather photograph Jake Gyllenhaal myself instead of asking for pictures on the internet? You're damn right I would. Although I'd probably keep those in my boudoir instead of showing them to you. So leave me alone, you random person.

APRIL 2nd is WORLD AUTISM DAY Help spread the word about the most overlooked, overshadowed condition on the planet! I am not on a side, I know there are those who would love to have Autism cured, and then there are those that strongly disagree with "a cure", realizing that they can cope with their condition and feel it makes them a stronger example for those suffering any mental condition.

I DO however think that this condition needs more support. From every level of Government the support through funding and training should be there, free of charge, to help those with Autism and those families who have to look after those who have it severely!

If I asked you to name 3 of the worst diseases on the planet, it would be a no brainer to most, Cancer, Diabetes and AIDS....but did you know that Autism has now taken top spot away from those three, having more children diagnosed with Autism, than are diagnosed with Cancer, Diabetes and AIDS combined!! Sounds shocking! It really is!!

Currently 1 in every 150 children born today is diagnosed with Autism! According to the Earth Sciences textbook, the worlds population increases by 200,000 every day! That means 1,333 of those children born will be diagnosed with Autism! Those numbers are staggering compared to the amount of help and support there is out there for parents of these children.

I recently attended a meeting with the Autism Intervention Program workers in the area I live in. They are currently providing PRT (Pivotal Response Training) PRT Website for children with Autism here for free, something a lot of parents, especially in the US, end up paying hundreds of thousand of dollars for. But the cost isn't the point, the point is why there isn't more funding from governments to help those who need it. During the meeting to explain PRT to parents who have a child with Autism, they were all told that only 5 children would be receiving the training, because that was all the government had alloted to spend on it. There were 65 parents there...65 kids with Autism...65 lives depending on that training, and only 5 would get it! Can you imagine what the other 60 parents, who may not know how to deal with a child with special needs, or know enough about Autism itself to be able to help their child on their own, must have felt like!!

It's not getting any better!! My son was diagnosed in 2003 and at that time it was every 1 in 165 babies born that were diagnosed. Now it's 1 in every 150. He was three when diagnosed, he barely spoke, at three "mommy" was his first and only word. He didn't play with others, staying to himself. He was just his own little person in a very confusing world, and we had no idea what to do to make it better for him. All we could do is try and educate ourselves, and remember to be extra patient. But then we got a call saying Logan was chosen to go through the PRT program. We were ecstatic! It was hard on him, and us really, in the beginning, but we persevered. And today we couldn't have been more blessed. He's a totally different person. We can have conversations with him, he loves attention and plays well with others, he's in school, at the top of his class, and excelling in a few areas, he even goes to school on the bus all on his own! He does homework and uses a his mothers laptop to play games on! And now, his doctors believe he has a photographic memory, because of his displays of memories from soooo far back! He's an amazing little handful that we wouldn't trade for the world.

And that's why, with the proper amount of education, and awareness and support, we can all show how important it is for every aspect of government to get involved! There should be a National Autism Registry in every country, set up with cash put in from the government, so that when a child is diagnosed, they register and that money is there waiting. It doesn't go to the parents, but to the trainers and educators to help the parents and the children learn to cope! Forget spending money on wars that don't and didn't have to be fought, or $400,000 on toilet seats, or anything else the government is frivolously spending money on!

SPEND IT ON THE FUTURE! SPEND IT ON THOSE THAT WILL BE THE FUTURE INHABITANTS OF THIS PLANET, THE FUTURE TEACHERS, DOCTORS, PUBLIC SERVANTS, ACTORS, MUSICIANS, PLUMBERS, ELECTRICIANS, LAWYERS, NURSES, DENTISTS, ETC; BECAUSE WITH THE PROPER FUNDING AND TRAINING, THAT'S WHAT THOSE DEALING WITH AUTISM TODAY COULD AND CAN BECOME!!

This took me probably about two weeks of working on it nearly nonstop after school and during the Thanksgiving Break. It's 's Belated birthday present :3

I really, really had fun with this one- and am actually sad to see it done. The clothes were like uber-fun to draw- most of them were stuff I've seen at PacSun or something that I have grabbed off the internet as a reference and had just changed up a bit. And thanks to a little brush experimentation and the fact that Sinan's hair was on the lineart layer, this all became lineless Luv ya, Sinan babe.

I WILL be fixing this, so please, tell me what needs to be done!!!

About each of the characters:

Issac- (Belongs to *Ayatchi-Kun) He first meets Sinan and Enna (well, not technically) when they weren't doing so hot and bleeding in the snow on a winter day in Japan. He takes them home with them- and much to their surprise, he's not exactly human. Issac's part vampire; and since he's such a nice guy, he's going to tag along with them and help them with their troubles. He becomes a sort of dad/older brother figure for Sinan, and just another victim of Enna.

Sinan Tillese: The main (but only by a sliver) focus of the story, Sinan started out with any normal life. Well; to him. He didn't know any different that his father beating him was nowhere near his own fault. However, the words of his cousin Emily ("Life is balanced; something real good is going to happen to you, Sinan.") came true on a boating trip one day that landed him into the ocean and onto a strange island and an opportunity that was forced on him against his will. He was selected for a mission that would, at its end, seal nine forbidden lands that were originally part of the Garden of Eden.

Tru Bauedraue: (Has no last name- Baudraue is an alias.) Is the Counselor-Advisor of the island Sinan lands on; he has the privileges of a king, but is raised to believe that he has no reason to use them. He spends his days sleeping and innocently flirting with the womenfolk of the island, and sometimes scribes small poems and maybe does some work. Whenever Sinan and Enna are really in a jam, they come back to the island, and Tru typically has an answer. But most of the time he just sleeps.

Enna Rickforreston: (She has no last name, Rickforreston is her alias.) Was the partner that Sinan chose to take along with him on his mission. Enna grew up in a similar situation to Sinan's, only greater; but handles it much more differently than he does. She chose to shut away her feelings forever, and run away from anything that may remind her of her past. She thinks that she has an excuse to feel sorry for herself because of her problems, but Sinan and Issac eventually drill it out of her that she has to change her life and that she can't just sit around, wallowing in herself.

Dennis: Is Enna's pet. He looks like a cross between a skeleton, a rabbit, a dog, a bat, and something else with no legs and a boxy-curled tail. But he's called a Skull-Bat.

Rannon Eweing: (Eweing is also an alias.) Is Tru's younger twin brother, believe it or not. Since he was not the oldest or most generous of his father's offspring when his father died, his brother took the throne and he became terribly, terribly jealous. (The royal family typically has only one child, it gets complicated with twins.) Tru was receiving all the attention; and so, with permission, he left the island and became a sort of vagabond, using his skills to do odd-jobs and travel around the world. He meets up with Sinan, Enna and Issac in the most desolate part of Arizona, both Rannon and Sinan's gang looking for the Forbidden garden of "RoaZoscia".

The Angel Mira: (Also known as just Mira) Is the angel that lives within Sinan's staff. Typically she is only seen by Sinan and his partner (Enna), but as both Sinan and Mira progress in strength, she is able to venture outside of Sinan's mind and take on the form of a human. She has an extremely strong bond between herself, Sinan and the staff- if Sinan is separated from it, Mira must guide him to it otherwise she will retreat to heaven and the bond will be broken; and the mission will be terminated forever.}

Neotaku 2005 Calendar - August

Hitomi and Lei Fang from the Dead or Alive series of games, but since there doesn't seem to be a fanart subcategory among the range of wallpapers submittable to dA, I went with the "female" section. Makes sense. This is a wallpaper version of "piggyback" a pic I submitted a couple weeks back, found here: [link] As I've mentioned previously in various places, this is for the Neotaku 2005 calendar, what was supposed to be a monthly series of wallpapers made by various DOA fanartists and general graphic people to create a calendar. Completely unsuccessful until now, because so far I've been the only one to actually complete something . I like to think that I'm true to my word, so here it is, and on 1st August!

I won't go into another lengthy description, because I've already written more than enough in the "piggyback" submission. This is the 1024x768 version, but I've also made others to cater for all (or most)..! They can be found here: [link]

A Night At The Opera - Album Review

Queen is probably one of the few groups to pull from so many different genres to create their unique sound, pulling elements of, well, almost anything. They were second only to The Beatles in England in terms of popularity in the 70's, and they may have recorded one of the best, or at least best known rock songs in history with "Bohemian Rhapsody". Queen emphasized the flamboyant, the campy, and often didn't take even themselves seriously, even though millions of fans did.

Freddie Mercury: Vocals/Keyboards/Piano
Brian May: Guitar
Roger Taylor: Drums
John Deacon: Bass

The Tracks:

Death on Two Legs (Dedicated To...) (3:43)
Opens with some really odd piano work and odd sounds, with two layers of guitar coming in...it gets crazy for a few seconds before breaking into the main verse, nice guitar work over the piano melody with a steady bass and drumline. The chorus is a nice highlight with multilayered vocals from Mercury, it's choir-like...nice drum fills as well...it's obvious Queen doesn't necessarily follow the standard song structure here, doing a weird little bridge thing before the next verse...punctuated by weird bend/slide work from May....another chorus, which is incidently, pretty long, follows the verse, though it's not exactly the same as the first one. It ends with an abrupt cymbal roll...leading into...

I honestly thought this was still DOTL until I heard him talk about Sunday Afternoon...this is a 1920's-ish ragtime like piece ...it's a neat piano melody w/ bass and drums...the lyrics are a bit weird, but it's Queen, that's expected. Interesting guitar solo at about :50, sounds similar to the original piano melody...this one doesn't stop though, but bleeds right into their next track (do we see a pattern here?)

I'm In Love With My Car (3:05)
With a title like that, one can only imagine what to expect out of this one. Opens right up with some flange on the guitar, I do believe, with piano/bass/drums supporting it...main riff isn't too special, but it's not bad at all. Mercury sounds a bit different on this song than the last two, but again, not bad. Screaming pinch harmonics come from May at times here, Zakk Wylde should take notes...next section has some slight chugging of the guitar, but we still get the sustained notes/PH's in there at times. This is slow enough to feel like a ballad...almost seems like something Metallica would've done...this song is not nearly as nonsensical as I expected it to be, but it's still a great tune to raise one's lighter too...fades out on the ultra flange and some lead work over it..

You're My Best Friend (2:52)
Has some synth line that leads this one...it's kinda quirky sounding. Drums do alot of fills...nothing spectacular, but it's alright. Layered vocals almost throughout the song, makes the song feel bigger than it is. The guitar seems silent for the most part in this song, adding sustained/bent/whatever notes a few times, until 2:06 when the solo comes in...not blazing fast or technical, but it fits the song totally. Another chorus or two ends this feel-good song.

'39 (3:30)
Opens with some choir-y vocals and...acoustic guitar I believe, with some violin or something behind it. The main melody has an interesting feel to it...it's not quite dark, it's not quite happy...it's kinda moody actually, but I like it. Drumline is insanely simple at first, but nothing wrong with that...I think that Deacon is playing Double Bass on this song, I know it was mentioned that he did, and I don't hear electric bass...interesting. There's an almost solo at 1:40 or so...I don't know what's playing it though. I wonder if this has something to do with WWII or something, since he mentioned 1939...but I can't really seem to tell. Just when you think the song has ended, the guitar comes back in for a bit more melody before ending. This isn't quite a feel-good song, as was YMBF, but it's not a depressing sort of song either.

Sweet Lady (4:04)
Opens with what at the time was probably considered a hard guitar riff, with a nice bassline to go with it...this serves as basis for the main song melody...the chorus line gets much faster, everyone seems to follow a triplet sort of pattern for it....another verse/chorus...bridge around the 2:00 mark, it's short as the next verse begins a few moments later. Another chorus comes up, the faster feel is definetly felt here, as the guitar goes into a pretty cool solo...at times it reminds me of something Adam Jones might have done somewhere....fade out on this solo and the faster section.

Seaside Rendezvous (2:15)
Opens up with another early 1900's type of piano melody...sounds like something that might be played in a bar by the sea...the vocal overdubbing is nice on this one...they bring in a couple of other instruments, but I'll be damned as to what they are...this one seems like they're just screwing around, it's like party sort of song...a 1900's type of party...

Prophet's Song (8:21)
Even by today's standards, a long song....opens with some acoustic guitar, pizzicato strings in the background, and wind. Electric guitar comes in soon after...Freddie sings like a pre-verse, guitar follows him...then the real verse starts...the drums and bass, although simple, give a sense of foreboding...the entire song has somewhat of a dark feel to it, mainly coming from the arrangement of the vocal harmonies most likely...a bridge-ish section comes in about 3 minutes in...a weird echo-thing goes on at 3:30...the other instruments have dropped out, so it's just Freddie...interesting sounds created by his incantations...this goes on for over a minute...it's actually starting to get to me...rest of the band doesn't come back in until almost 6 minutes in...some delay on at first, then a sort of guitar solo comes in a few minutes later...again, nothing too spectacular, but it's good nonetheless...things are going crazy at 7 minute mark, with guitar lines all over the place, crashing cymbals, multiple tracks of Freddie + bass under it all...we end with a repeat of the introduction, but the guitar melody is different, plus piano comes in to start our next song.

Love of My Life (3:38)
Piano + harp carry this one at first, with some bass under it at times. Freddie utilizes his higher-range capabilties, but it's not quite falsetto. Distorted guitar comes in at almost 2 minutes in, but quickly drops back out...comes back in with a solo at almost 2:30...it's still got the feel of a metalish guitar solo, however the volume down makes it much more reserved, at least at first...as it gets turned up about the 3 minute mark for a few more moments..ends with some runs on the harp. This is definetly a mellow, chillout kind of piece.

Good Company (3:23)
This one has an older feel to it too...not quite bluegrass, but as if it were done in the older south...guitar does a few flourishes here and there, but again, the volume turned down at first...for the...chorus...wah work on the guitar gives it an odd feel to say the least...the background vocals on this one remind me of a barbershop quartet actually...there's a break with the banjo taking the lead...then a spacey section happens, with flange and whatnot everywhere...breaks back into the main section...guitar solo about 2:51 or so...it fits the song well, as it's much more subdued and laid back. Another sort of feel-good piece.

Bohemian Rhapsody (5:54)
I'd be willing to bet that everyone has heard this song, either parts of it, or in it's entirety at least once. This song has darn near everything that makes Queen, well, Queen. The song itself is broken up into sections, but there really isn't any chorus, bridge, or anything...this is a ballad by all means. The first section, the somewhat somber piano part, as Freddie laments about his crimes. The vocaling overdubbing on this one is quite interesting...gives it that operatic feel...the first guitar solo comes up...might be one of the first instances of shredding, even though it's not true shred. Next section showcases Freddie's range and abilites, has a very cool feeling to it. This leads into the headbanging part of the song...you know you headbang to this section...Wayne's World made this song famous for the headbanging in the car...song mellows out a bit, but the second guitar solo comes through this one. I honestly don't see how anyone can not like this song, it's just...so much fun, yet so serious at the same time. On a related note, check Newgrounds.com and search for "Titanium Rhapsody" to see Megaman sprites perform to this song...it's well done, and amusing.

God Save The Queen (1:18)
Technically the last song, it's a glorified outro which has a very royal feel to it. It's not a bad end to the album, it's what makes Queen...Queen.

There are two remixes at the end...one of IILWMC and YMBF...they didn't really seem to add much to either of the original songs, so I'm not covering them...it's Queen, it doesn't have to make sense.

Overall:

That whole larger-than-life feel

Dislikes:
The echo-ey vocal section on Prophet's Song

Aside from the obvious love for Bohemian Rhapsody, there are alot of good tunes on here. In fact, none of the songs are bad, per se. For example, Prophet's Song is a good song, though it does drag on in parts. Queen are able to delve into music's past, and pull out sounds not heard regularly for about 50 years and make good songs out of them, they can be somewhat dark and mysterious, mellow and melodic, or, they can even get in your face a little. This gets a strong 4.5/5 from me, with half a point deducted for Prophet's Song, mainly. Everyone should at least hear the entire album once I think, to see what prog used to be many years ago. :thumb:

Chinami's my favourite member and somehow it ended up with her wall being last (I was doing the rest randomly). She almost never has her hair down for concerts so it's nice to see it like this for some PVs.

Hi there

This wallpaper may look like nothing special but it took me more than an hour to make it. Well as you (hopefully) can see there's Onew in the background while in the foreground there're Key and Jonghyun.

I made this wallpaper for a fanfiction I intend to write. I'd like to tell you the background story now ^-^

Everything starts when Key discovers that there's more than just friendship between him and Jonghyun; but he's in a relationship with Onew and he loves him, too. So Key decides to spend more time with Jonghyun to find out if these tender feelings are real or just a fantasy.
Soon Onew feels a little bit neglected 'cause Key spends all his time chattering and laughing with Jonghyun; he gets more and more locked and doesn't even want Key near anymore.
After some time Key finally breaks up with Onew to start a relationship with Jonghyun - maybe this will make him happy?

While the two of them are strolling around the schoolyard Onew watches them from class. He's not happy how everything turned out but he wishes Key well because he still loves him; and he knows: He can wait forever and he will.

Blade Runner

I've been watching the Olympics if you couldn't guess
Took a small break from doing another commission (full profile which is made up of seven pics- hard work but I love it!) and decided to pay tribute to one of my countryman.

For those of you who do not know, Oscar Pistorius is a double amputee (both his legs have been cut off below the knee). This however has not stopped him from getting involved with as many sports as possible. Through the use of carbon fibre artificial limbs he has been able to take the track by storm.
He is very well known in the Paralympics but as of 2012 Oscar has made history by becoming the first amputee runner to compete at an Olympic Games (4 August 2012 to be exact).

He may not have won any medals in this Olympics (yet...hold thumbs!) but he has won London's heart. Possibly the only other participant that got as loud a cheer from the crowd that was not a British Participant...or Usain Bolt

His nicknames are Blade Runner and the Fastest Man on No Legs.

The South African Men's 400m relay team have been reinstated to run tonight and Oscar's in it with Shaun de Jager, Louis van Zyl and Willem de Beer. My best wishes to Ofentse Mogawane for a speedy recovery who suffered a dislocated shoulder in the qualifying heat.

Welltoday is the big day Phil! said Stephen as he put one arm across his shoulders. Yeah it is Punk looked down at the floor in a sad way; Sheamus looked at him whats the matter love? Phil smiled and looked up yeah I guess your right Stephen gave Phil a kiss on the lips when he reaches to Punks dressing room well you better be on changing to your wedding dress said Sheamus with a smirk w-wedding dress? Punks face turned a little red well yeah youre the bride and Im the groom and its gonna look weird if we both wear tuxes dont you think? Uuumyeah I guess Sheamus smiled and went to his own changing room and Punk went into his and the first thing he saw was a standee with beautiful white wedding dress on it with the front all sparkly like stars and on top where the head is was the head piece with the fabric part that covers the brides face. wow Punk was speechless and he smiled a little and he said waithow am I gonna put this on by myself? Well with my help of course huh? Punk turns around and it was none other than John Cena leaning against the door in a tux. Ohits you Punk frowned. 20 Minutes passed and Punk was in his wedding dress all zipped up in the back. Now the finishing touch John took the head piece and he puts it on Punks head and covers his face with the fabric piece wellhow do I look? Punk said see for yourself John turns Punk to a big mirror oh wow Punk smiled a little. Oh I almost forgot! John took out white roses tied together with a beautiful golden bow here Punk took them wow these are some pretty flowers! Thanks John John smiled anything for you Phil John winked and went out the room leaving Punk starring at himself in the mirror.
Outside at an open field, were a lot of chairs and wedding theme stuff everywhere! Guesses started arriving the first person to arrive was the viper Randy Orton. Hey there randy! Sheamus said oh hey! he hugged the groom sowheres the lucky man? both laughed a little I dont know maybe- he couldnt finish his sentence when he sees his wife to be in his beautiful sparkling white wedding dress oh wow Randy snapped his fingers on his face dude snap out of it! Sheamus shook his head Im okayfor now Randy smirks you cant help but stare at him huh? Yep he smiles a little. Go to him and embrace his beauty Randy laughs and walks away and Sheamus goes to his bride. Punk is talking to John and he felt someone wraps their arms around his hips. WHAT DID YOU JUST CALL ME?! YOU HEARD ME! Cena ran to Sheamus and tackled him to the floor and everyone got up and tried to break it up ENOUGH!!!! Punk yelled and the two broke it up THIS IS THE WORST DAY OF MY LIFE! Punk started crying and ran off Phil wait! Sheamus broke free and grabbed Punk by the wait Let me go! Let me go! he kept on crying until he fell knees first to the ground ssshplease dont cry my love Punk kept on crying but looked at Sheamus Stephen I- Sheamus grabbed Punks head and kissed his lips and Punk kissed back I love you Stephen Sheamus smiled I love you too Phil everyone awed but not John didnt he was escorted out of the wedding and Sheamus picked up Punk bride style and over Shamuss shoulders he threw the flowers and everyone were fighting to catch them but Randy jumped and caught them in midair Ha ha I got them! After speakers from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to Newark (N.J.) Mayor Cory Booker blasted Romney and the Republican Party for everything from undermining the economic recovery to favoring the wealthy over the middle class, the first lady's speech was soft in tone. Yet it was strong in her belief that the country was better served by her husband's humble beginnings, "the guy who'd picked me up for our dates in a car that was so rusted out, I could actually see the pavement going by through a hole in the passenger side door the guy whose proudest possession was a coffee table he'd found in a dumpster, and whose only pair of decent shoes was half a size too small."
The message much like Ann Romney's speech at last week's GOP convention that revealed her husband's role as husband and father was a charm offensive aimed at reminding voters not just where Obama came from, but his core values, accomplishments and plans for the next four years.

"I have seen firsthand that being president doesn't change who you are no, it reveals who you are," Michelle Obama said. "Barack knows what it means when the middle class struggles. He's lived it." Yet she also emphasized that unlike Romney, who became a multimillionaire through private equity firm Bain Capital, Obama had shunned opportunities for high-paying jobs for a life devoted to public service.
"I love that for Barack, there is no such thing as us and them," she said. "I love that even in the toughest moments where we are all sweatin' it, he just keeps moving forward with patience and wisdom and courage and grace. He reminds me that we're playing a long game here and eventually, we get there."
With the November election a virtual tossup and Obama's re-election bid crimped by an anemic economy and stubbornly high unemployment, most of the night's speakers were far less cordial. Many offered sharp contrasts between a Romney presidency and four more years of Obama and who would better serve the middle class, women and minorities.
In an interview with USA TODAY aboard Air Force One, Obama telegraphed the party's mission this week: defending his record, attacking Romney and convincing voters that America is better off than it was four years ago. The central themes: Obama kept the economy from plunging into recession, bailed out the now-revived automobile industry, revamped health care, ended the war in Iraq and gave the orders to eliminate terrorist Osama bin Laden.

"Gov. Romney spent a lot of time talking about himself and he spent a lot of time talking about me. He didn't spend a lot of time talking about the American people and how their lives will get better," Obama told USA TODAY. "I guess their premise is that the American people will be convinced, if we just get rid of Obama, then somehow that will be enough."
San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro, a rising party star, delivered the keynote address, highlighting Obama's successes, "despite incredible odds and united Republican opposition."
He was less kind to Romney.
"Republicans tell us that if the most prosperous among us do even better, that somehow the rest of us will, too," Castro said. "Folks, we've heard that before. First, they called it 'trickle-down.' Then 'supply side.' Now it's 'Romney-Ryan.' Or is it 'Ryan-Romney.' Either way, their theory has been tested. It failed. Our economy failed. The middle class paid the price. Your family paid the price. Mitt Romney just doesn't get it."
The anti-Romney tone was set early, and often.
"If Mitt was Santa Claus, he'd fire the reindeer and outsource the elves," former Ohio governor Ted Strickland told a roaring crowd of delegates.
Democrats even turned to liberal icon Edward Kennedy who died in 2009 to blast Romney's shifting views, a criticism that has haunted the candidate. As part of a video tribute, clips from the Kennedy vs. Romney 1994 Senate race debate showed Kennedy schooling his challenger. "I am pro-choice. My opponent is multiple choice," Kennedy said in the clip.
The Romney campaign said rolling out the Kennedy clip was a low blow.
Reid delivered some of the evening's harshest comments.
"Today's Republican Party believes in two sets of rules: one for millionaires and billionaires, and another for the middle class," he said. "And this year, they've nominated the strongest proponent the clearest beneficiary of this rigged game: Mitt Romney."
Said Booker: "Our platform is about moving America and our economy forward. We must choose forward. We must be inclusive. We must choose growing together."
Obama campaigned in battleground state Virginia earlier Tuesday.
Republicans are "counting on you, maybe not to vote for Romney, but they're counting on you to feel discouraged," he told a crowd at Norfolk State University. "And they figure if you don't vote, then big oil will write our energy future, and insurance companies will write our health care plans, and politicians will dictate what a woman can or can't do when it comes to her own health. They're counting on you just to accept their version of things."
Obama is scheduled to make his party acceptance speech Thursday at the 74,000-seat outdoor Bank of America stadium. There's a 40% chance of rain showers. Obama spokesman Brent Colburn said severe weather, such as lightning, would push the event indoors.
Wherever it's held, the speech will provide a "road map" for Obama's plans to restore security to the hard-pressed middle class, campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt said.
The president and aides have acknowledged that Democrats are likely to be outspent by Romney in key battleground states. So the three-day convention amounts to some much-needed PR.
"We've got some truth-telling to do," Virginia's U.S. Sen. Mark Warner told Florida delegates earlier Tuesday. "America is better off today than it was four years ago when this president took over."
Modesto Tico Valle, an Illinois delegate from Chicago, said the convention is key to Obama's re-election.
"Most definitely, President Obama must say loudly and strongly that we are much better off today than four years ago," said Valle, the 48-year-old CEO of Center on Halstead, an advocate organization for the lesbian, gay and transgender community. "The economy is slowly recovering from where it was when we got it, jobs are slowly coming back. There has been great progress made in LGBT and women's rights, among seniors and with health care. The choice is clear between Obama and the dark ages. He is the one that is moving us forward."
Democrats released a party platform for ratification Tuesday underscoring Obama's call for higher taxes on the wealthy and support for gay marriage. And Tuesday morning, the party made its case for Obama through U.S. Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren on morning TV talk shows. Warren, who is challenging first-term Republican Scott Brown in Massachusetts, conceded that many Americans have it tough, but said Obama offers the better vision going forward. "Republicans are not helping us get back," she said.
Republican GOP vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan, also making the talk-show rounds, continued to hammer Obama's record on the economy. "Four years into a presidency and it's 'incomplete'?" he asked referring to the "grade" Obama gave himself in an interview Monday. "The president is asking people just to be patient with him?"
Romney's campaign reinforced that message with a new Internet video answering Obama's statement that "there are always going to be bumps on the road to recovery." The video showcases a series of ordinary Americans who've lost their jobs saying, "I'm an American, not a bump in the road." When people ask First Lady Michelle Obama to describe herself, she doesn't hesitate to say that first and foremost, she is Malia and Sasha's mom.

But before she was a mother -- or a wife, lawyer or public servant -- she was Fraser and Marian Robinson's daughter.

The Robinsons lived in a brick bungalow on the South Side of Chicago. A product of Chicago public schools, Mrs. Obama studied sociology and African-American studies at Princeton University. After graduating from Harvard Law School in 1988, she joined the Chicago law firm Sidley & Austin, where she later met the man who would become the love of her life.

After a few years, Mrs. Obama decided her true calling was working with people to serve their communities and their neighbors. As Associate Dean of Student Services, she developed the university's first community service program, and under her leadership as Vice President of Community and External Affairs for the University of Chicago Medical Center, volunteerism skyrocketed.

Promoting Service and working with young people has remained a staple of her career and her interest. Continuing this effort now as First Lady, Mrs. Obama in 2010 launched Lets Move!, a campaign to bring together community leaders, teachers, doctors, nurses, moms and dads in a nationwide effort to tackle the challenge of childhood obesity. Lets Move! has an ambitious but important goal: to solve the epidemic of childhood obesity within a generation.

In 2011, Mrs. Obama and Dr. Jill Biden together launched Joining Forces, a nationwide initiative that mobilizes all sectors of society to give our service members and their families the opportunities and support they have earned, and to raise awareness of military families' unique needs as pertains to employment, education and wellness. Joining Forces has been working hand in hand with American businesses who are committed to answering the President's challenge to hire or train 100,000 unemployed veterans and military spouses by 2013.

As First Lady, Mrs. Obama looks forward to continuing her work on the issues close to her heart supporting military families, helping working women balance career and family, encouraging national service, promoting the arts and arts education, and fostering healthy eating and healthy living for children and families across the country.

Michelle LaVaughn Robinson was born on January 17, 1964, in Chicago, Illinois, to Fraser Robinson III,[3] a city water plant employee and Democratic precinct captain, and Marian (née Shields), a secretary at Spiegel's catalog store.[4] Her mother was a full-time homemaker until Michelle entered high school.[5] The Robinson and Shields families can trace their roots[6] to pre-Civil War African Americans in the American South. Specifically, she is descended from the Gullah people of South Carolina's Lowcountry region.[7] Her paternal great-great grandfather, Jim Robinson, was an American slave in the state of South Carolina,[8][9] where some of her paternal family still reside.[10][11] Her maternal great-great-great grandmother, Melvinia Shields, also a slave, became pregnant by a white man. His name and the nature of their union have been lost. She gave birth to Michelle's biracial maternal great-great grandfather, Dolphus T. Shields.[12]
Michelle grew up in a two-story house on Euclid Street in Chicago's South Shore community area. Her parents rented a small apartment on the house's second floor from her great-aunt, who lived downstairs.[4][13][14][15] She was raised in what she describes as a "conventional" home, with "the mother at home, the father works, you have dinner around the table".[16] The family entertained together by playing games such as Monopoly and by reading.[17] They attended services at nearby South Shore Methodist Church.[13] The Robinsons used to vacation in a rustic cabin in White Cloud, Michigan.[13] She and her brother, Craig (who is 21 months older), skipped the second grade. By sixth grade, Michelle joined a gifted class at Bryn Mawr Elementary School (later renamed Bouchet Academy).[18]
She attended Whitney Young High School,[19] Chicago's first magnet high school, where she was a classmate of Jesse Jackson's daughter Santita.[17] The round trip commute from the Robinsons' South Side home to the Near West Side, where the school was located, took three hours.[20] She was on the honor roll for four years, took advanced placement classes, a member of the National Honor Society and served as student council treasurer.[4] Michelle graduated in 1981 as the salutatorian of her class.[20]
Michelle was inspired to follow her brother to Princeton University;[5] Craig graduated in 1983. At Princeton, she challenged the teaching methodology for French because she felt that it should be more conversational.[21] As part of her requirements for graduation, she wrote a thesis entitled "Princeton-Educated Blacks and the Black Community."[22][23] "I remember being shocked," she says, "by college students who drove BMWs. I didn't even know parents who drove BMWs."[20] While at Princeton, she got involved with the Third World Center (now known as the Carl A. Fields Center), an academic and cultural group that supported minority students, running their day care center which also included after school tutoring.[24] Robinson majored in sociology and minored in African American studies and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in 1985.[4][25] She earned her Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from Harvard Law School in 1988.[26] At Harvard she participated in demonstrations advocating the hiring of professors who were members of minorities[27] and worked for the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau, assisting low-income tenants with housing cases.[28] She is the third First Lady with a postgraduate degree, after her two immediate predecessors, Hillary Rodham Clinton and Laura Bush.[29] In July 2008, Obama accepted the invitation to become an honorary member of the 100-year-old black sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha, which had no active undergraduate chapter at Princeton when she attended.[30]

She met Barack Obama when they were among the few African Americans at their law firm, Sidley Austin (she has sometimes said only two, although others have pointed out there were others in different departments),[31] and she was assigned to mentor him as a summer associate.[32] Their relationship started with a business lunch and then a community organization meeting where he first impressed her.[33] The couple's first date was to the Spike Lee movie Do the Right Thing.[34] They married in October 1992,[33] and have two daughters, Malia Ann (born 1998) and Natasha (known as Sasha, born 2001).[35] After his election to the U.S. Senate, the Obama family continued to live on Chicago's South Side, choosing to remain there rather than moving to Washington, D.C. Throughout her husband's 2008 campaign for President of the United States, she made a "commitment to be away overnight only once a week to campaign only two days a week and be home by the end of the second day" for their two children.[36]
She once requested that her then-fiancé meet her prospective boss, Valerie Jarrett, when considering her first career move.[16] Now, Jarrett is one of her husbands closest advisors.[37][38] The marital relationship has had its ebbs and flows; the combination of an evolving family life and beginning political career led to many arguments about balancing work and family. Barack Obama wrote in his second book, The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream, that "Tired and stressed, we had little time for conversation, much less romance".[39] However, despite their family obligations and careers, they continue to attempt to schedule date nights.[40]
The Obamas' daughters attended the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools, a private school.[41] As a member of the school's board, Michelle fought to maintain diversity in the school when other board members connected with the University of Chicago tried to reserve more slots for children of the university faculty. This resulted in a plan to expand the school.[5] Malia and Sasha now attend Sidwell Friends School in Washington, after also considering Georgetown Day School.[42][43] Michelle stated in an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that they do not intend to have any more children.[44] The Obamas have received advice from past first ladies Laura Bush, Rosalynn Carter and Hillary Rodham Clinton about raising children in the White House.[43] Marian Robinson, Michelle's mother, has moved into the White House to assist with child care.[45]
Career

Following law school, she was an associate at the Chicago office of the law firm Sidley Austin, where she first met her future husband. At the firm, she worked on marketing and intellectual property.[4] She continues to hold her law license, but as she no longer needs it for her work, it has been on a voluntary inactive status since 1993.[46][47]
In 1991, she held public sector positions in the Chicago city government as an Assistant to the Mayor, and as Assistant Commissioner of Planning and Development. In 1993, she became Executive Director for the Chicago office of Public Allies, a non-profit organization encouraging young people to work on social issues in nonprofit groups and government agencies.[19] She worked there nearly four years and set fundraising records for the organization that still stood 12 years after she left.[17]
In 1996, she served as the Associate Dean of Student Services at the University of Chicago, where she developed the University's Community Service Center.[48] In 2002, she began working for the University of Chicago Hospitals, first as executive director for community affairs and, beginning May 2005, as Vice President for Community and External Affairs.[49] She continued to hold the University of Chicago Hospitals position during the primary campaign, but cut back to part time in order to spend time with her daughters as well as work for her husband's election;[50] she subsequently took a leave of absence from her job.[51] According to the couples 2006 income tax return, her salary was $273,618 from the University of Chicago Hospitals, while her husband had a salary of $157,082 from the United States Senate. The Obamas' total income, however, was $991,296, which included $51,200 she earned as a member of the board of directors of TreeHouse Foods, and investments and royalties from his books.[52]
She served as a salaried board member of TreeHouse Foods, Inc. (NYSE: THS),[53] a major Wal-Mart supplier with whom she cut ties immediately after her husband made comments critical of Wal-Mart at an AFL-CIO forum in Trenton, New Jersey, on May 14, 2007.[54] She serves on the board of directors of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs.[55]

Although Obama has campaigned on her husband's behalf since early in his political career by handshaking and fund-raising, she did not relish the activity at first. When she campaigned during her husband's 2000 run for United States House of Representatives, her boss at the University of Chicago asked if there was any single thing about campaigning that she enjoyed; after some thought, she replied that visiting so many living rooms had given her some new decorating ideas.[56]
At first, Obama had reservations about her husband's presidential campaign, due to fears about a possible negative effect on their daughters.[57] She says that she negotiated an agreement in which her husband was to give up smoking in exchange for her support of his decision to run.[58] About her role in her husband's presidential campaign she has said: "My job is not a senior adviser."[37][59][60] During the campaign, she has discussed race and education by using motherhood as a framework.[21]
In May 2007, three months after her husband declared his presidential candidacy, she reduced her professional responsibilities by 80 percent to support his presidential campaign.[16] Early in the campaign, she had limited involvement in which she traveled to political events only two days a week and traveled overnight only if their daughters could come along;[3] by early February 2008 her participation had increased significantly, attending thirty-three events in eight days.[38] She made several campaign appearances with Oprah Winfrey.[61][62] She wrote her own stump speeches for her husband's presidential campaign and generally spoke without notes.[20]
Throughout the campaign, the media often labeled her as an "angry black woman,"[63][64][65] and some Web sites attempted to propagate this image,[66] prompting her to respond: "Barack and I have been in the public eye for many years now, and we've developed a thick skin along the way. When youre out campaigning, there will always be criticism. I just take it in stride, and at the end of the day, I know that it comes with the territory."[67] By the time of the 2008 Democratic National Convention in August, media outlets observed that her presence on the campaign trail had grown softer than at the start of the race, focusing on soliciting concerns and empathizing with the audience rather than throwing down challenges to them, and giving interviews to shows like The View and publications like Ladies' Home Journal rather than appearing on news programs. The change was even reflected in her fashion choices, wearing more informal clothes in place of her previous designer pieces.[56] The View appearance was partly intended to help soften her public image,[63] and it was widely-covered in the press.[68]
The presidential campaign was her first exposure to the national political scene; even before the field of Democratic candidates was narrowed to two, she was considered the least famous of the candidates' spouses.[59] Early in the campaign, she told anecdotes about the Obama family life; however, as the press began to emphasize her sarcasm, she toned it down.[52][58] New York Times op-ed columnist Maureen Dowd wrote:
I wince a bit when Michelle Obama chides her husband as a mere mortal comic routine that rests on the presumption that we see him as a god ... But it may not be smart politics to mock him in a way that turns him from the glam JFK into the mundane Gerald Ford, toasting his own English muffin. If all Senator Obama is peddling is the Camelot mystique, why debunk this mystique?[59][69]
On the first night of the 2008 Democratic National Convention, Craig Robinson introduced his younger sister.[70] She delivered her speech, during which she sought to portray herself and her family as the embodiment of the American Dream.[71] Obama said both she and her husband believed "that you work hard for what you want in life, that your word is your bond, and you do what you say you're going to do, that you treat people with dignity and respect, even if you don't know them, and even if you don't agree with them."[72] She also emphasized loving her country, in response to criticism for her previous statements about feeling proud of her country for the first time.[71][73][74] That keynote address was largely well received and drew mostly positive reviews.[75] A Rasmussen Reports poll found that her favorability among Americans reached 55%.[76]
On an October 6, 2008 broadcast, Larry King asked her if the American electorate was past the Bradley effect. She stated that her husband's achievement of the nomination was a fairly strong indicator that it was.[77] The same night she also was interviewed by Jon Stewart on The Daily Show where she deflected criticism of her husband and his campaign.[78] On Fox News' America's Pulse, E. D. Hill referred to the fist bump shared by the Obamas on the night that he clinched the Democratic presidential nomination as a "terrorist fist jab"; Hill was taken off air and the show itself was cancelled.[79][80][81]

Public image and style
With the ascent of her husband as a prominent national politician, Michelle Obama has become a part of popular culture. In May 2006, Essence listed her among "25 of the World's Most Inspiring Women."[82][83] In July 2007, Vanity Fair listed her among "10 of the World's Best Dressed People." She was an honorary guest at Oprah Winfrey's Legends Ball as a "young'un" paying tribute to the 'Legends,' which helped pave the way for African American Women. In September 2007, 02138 magazine listed her 58th of 'The Harvard 100'; a list of the prior year's most influential Harvard alumni. Her husband was ranked fourth.[82][84] In July 2008, she made a repeat appearance on the Vanity Fair international best dressed list.[85] She also appeared on the 2008 People list of best-dressed women and was praised by the magazine for her "classic and confident" look.[86][87]
At the time of her husband's election, some sources anticipated that as a high-profile African-American woman in a stable marriage she would be a positive role model who would influence the view the world has of African-Americans.[88][89] Her fashion choices were part of the 2009 Fashion week,[90] but Obama's influence in the field did not have the impact on the paucity of African-American models who participate, that some thought it might.[91][92]
She has been compared to Jacqueline Kennedy due to her sense of style,[85] and also to Barbara Bush for her discipline and decorum.[93][94] Her white, one-shoulder Jason Wu 2009 inaugural gown was said to be "an unlikely combination of Nancy Reagan and Jackie Kennedy".[95][96] Obama's style is described as populist.[29] She often wears clothes by designers Calvin Klein, Isabel Toledo, Narciso Rodriguez, Donna Ricco and Maria Pinto,[97] and has become a fashion trendsetter,[98][99][100] in particular her favoring of sleeveless dresses that showcase her toned arms.[101]
She appeared on the cover and in a photo spread in the March 2009 issue of Vogue.[102][103] Every First Lady since Lou Hoover (except Bess Truman) has been in Vogue,[102] but only Hillary Clinton had previously appeared on the cover.[104]
In August 2011 she became the first woman to appear on the cover of Better Homes and Gardens magazine, as well as the first person to appear on the cover in 48 years. [105]
The media have been criticized for focusing more on the first lady's fashion sense than her serious contributions.[29][106] She has stated that she would like to focus attention as First Lady on issues of concern to military and working families.[88][107][108] U.S.News & World Report blogger, PBS host and Scripps Howard columnist Bonnie Erbe has argued that Obama's own publicists seem to be feeding the emphasis on style over substance.[109] Erbe has stated on several occasions that she is miscasting herself by overemphasizing style.[45][110]

During her early months as First Lady, she visited homeless shelters and soup kitchens.[111] She also sent representatives to schools and advocated public service.[111][112] On her first trip abroad in April 2009, she toured a cancer ward with Sarah Brown, wife of British Prime Minister Gordon Brown.[113] She has begun advocating on behalf of military families.[114] Like her predecessors Clinton and Bush, who supported the organic movement by instructing the White House kitchens to buy organic food, Obama has received attention by planting an organic garden and installing bee hives on the South Lawn of the White House, which will supply organic produce and honey to the First Family and for state dinners and other official gatherings.[115][116]
Obama has become an advocate of her husband's policy priorities by promoting bills that support it. Following the enactment of the Pay equity law, Obama hosted a White House reception for women's rights advocates in celebration. She has pronounced her support for the economic stimulus bill in visits to the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development and United States Department of Education. Some observers have looked favorably upon her legislative activities, while others have said that she should be less involved in politics. According to her representatives, she intends to visit all United States Cabinet-level agencies in order to get acquainted with Washington.[117]
She gained growing public support in her early months as first lady.[111][118] She is notable for her support from military families and some Republicans.[111][114] As the public is growing accustomed to her, she is becoming more accepted as a role model.[111] Newsweek described her first trip abroad as an exhibition of her so-called "star power"[118] and MSN described it as a display of sartorial elegance.[83] There were questions raised in the American and British media regarding protocol when the Obamas met Queen Elizabeth II,[119] and Michelle reciprocated a touch on her back by the Queen during a reception, purportedly against traditional royal etiquette.[119][120] Palace sources denied that any breach in etiquette had occurred.[121]

On June 5, 2009, the White House announced that Michelle Obama was replacing her current chief of staff, Jackie Norris, with Susan Sher, a longtime friend and adviser. Norris will become a senior adviser to the Corporation for National and Community Service.[122] Then in February 2010, the resignation of White House Social Secretary, Desiree Rogers was announced to be effective the following month.[123] Rogers had been at odds with other administration officials, such as David Axelrod, and then the White House State Dinner faux pas occurred on November 24, 2009.[124] Rogers was replaced by Julianna Smoot.[125]
After a year as First Lady, she undertook her first lead role in an administrationwide initiative. Her goal was to make progress in reversing the 21st century trend of childhood obesity.[126] She stated that her goal is to make this effort her legacy: "I want to leave something behind that we can say, Because of this time that this person spent here, this thing has changed. And my hope is that thats going to be in the area of childhood obesity."[126] She has named the movement "Let's Move!".[127] This effort does not supplant her other efforts: supporting military families, helping working women balance career and family, encouraging national service, promoting the arts and arts education, and fostering healthy eating and healthy living for children and families across the country.[128] She has earned widespread publicity on the topic of healthy eating by planting the White House Kitchen Garden, the first White House vegetable garden since Eleanor Roosevelt served as First Lady.[126][129] Her 2012 book American Grown: The Story of the White House Kitchen Garden and Gardens Across America is based on her experiences with the garden and promotes healthy eating.[130] Her call for action on healthy eating has been echoed by the United States Department of Defense, which has been facing an ever expanding problem of recruit obesity.[131] Michelle Obama was born on January 17, 1964 in Chicago, Illinois. Early Life

Michelle LaVaughn Robinson Obama, bettern known as Michelle Obama, was born on January 17, 1964 in Chicago, Illinois. She would later become a lawyer, Chicago city administrator, community outreach worker andas the wife of U.S. President Barack Obamathe United States' First Lady.

Michelle was raised on Chicago's South Side in a one-bedroom apartment. Her father, Frasier Robinson, was a city pump operator and a Democratic precinct captain. Her mother, Marian, was a Spiegel's secretary who later stayed home to raise Michelle and her older brother, Craig. The family has been described as a close-knit one that shared family meals, read and played games together.

Craig and Michelle, 16 months apart in age, were often mistaken for twins. The siblings also shared close quartersthey slept in the living room with a makeshift sheet serving as their room divider. Both children were raised with an emphasis on education. The brother and sister learned to read at home by the age of four, and both skipped second grade.

Gifted Student

By sixth grade, Michelle was attending gifted classes, where she learned French and took accelerated courses. Marriage to Barack Obama

Following law school, Michelle worked as an associate in the Chicago branch of the law firm Sidley Austin in the area of marketing and intellectual property. There, in 1989, she met her future husband, Barack Obama, a summer intern whom she was assigned as an adviser. "I went to Harvard and he went to Harvard, and the firm thought, 'Oh, we'll hook these two people up,'" Michelle said. "So, you know, there was a little intrigue, but I must say after about a month, Barack ... asked me out, and I thought, 'No way. This is completely tacky.'" Initially, she refused to date Barack, believing that their work relationship would make the romance improper. Eventually, she relented, and the couple soon fell in love. Their first kiss took place outside of a Chicago shopping centerwhere a plaque featuring a photo of the couple kissing was installed more than two decades later, in August 2012.

After two years of dating, Barack proposed. "We were at a restaurant having dinner to celebrate the fact that he had finished the bar," Michelle remembers. "Then the waiter came over with the dessert and a tray. And there was the ring. And I was completely shocked." The couple married at Trinity United Church of Christ on October 18, 1992.
Michelle soon left her job to launch a career in public service, serving as an assistant to Mayor Daley and then as the assistant commissioner of planning and development for the City of Chicago.

Alright, so I decided it was time to give Vincent a break from glaring at everyone that wandered into my website. So I sat down and started playing around in Poser to make a new splash image.

Originally, I was just going to do one with Matthew. That expanded to include Lei (who insisted on standing on her daddy's boots... lol). And the next thing I knew I had the Alpha pair of wolves standing on one side and the Beta "wolf" and his little girl on the other.

So.. yes. This is what I ended up with, in the end! LOL

Shohjo-tai (literally means "teenage girl team") was a very popular and revolutionary Jpop teenage girl group of the 80's notable for their multiple talents at the youthful age. They have contributed, as well, to the postmodern Japanese popular cultures, notably the rise of Japanese "girl power".

The line-up was formed by 14-year-old sweeties Aida Miho, Yasuhara Reiko and Ichikawa Chiiko in 1984 after they were chosen from a national talent show in the previous year. Chiiko left the group in 1986 and her vacancy was taken over by the hilarious Hikita Tomoko. In 1984 they released their first highly successful single "Forever", making them one of the youngest one-hit wonder in Japanese pop music history. Soon they released their debut album "Shohjo Typhoon" where the word "typhoon" evidently exhibits the Japanese's determination to dominate the world's pop music market. Within months the sweet little girls immediately surprised their worldwide audiences by showing how adept they are in singing, dancing and acting. Their first innovative MTV, together with a short musical documentary movie titled "Shohjo Typhoon American Volume" were both filmed in various US locations such as New York, Los Angeles and California.

Following the rise of New Wave movement started in western regions, Shohjo-tai immediately beat most of their relatively conservative Japanese contemporaries by changing the trend of the entire Japanese pop music and succeeded in modernizing Japanese pop music and made it the equal term to the western rivals within months (once again demonstrating Japanese's innovative ability in every sense!). They introduced and popularized the use of modern and highly exotic Break Dance elements accompanied by heavy modern pop rock rhythm (previously ultra-rare in Jpop) in some of their most memorable masterpieces such as "Forever", "Kamikaze'66", "Namida no Shower Room", "Lady Shy", "Sunao Ni Natte Darling", "Nagisa no Dance Party", "Koibito Kibun no Holiday", "Adventure Island" and many more which still sound very impressive and inspiring by today's standard.

Stylistically, Shohjo-tai's songs are notable for their highly sophisticated and energetic dance style rhythm, fast tempo, aggressive drive and marvelously tuneful melody, making their songs among the best high quality pop hits in Japanese modern pop music history. But what made Shohjo-tai unique was their effortless performance and their very distinctive and unmistakable sweet voices - the typical Japanese girls' childish "baby voice" which is not likely to be imitated by western teenage female pop stars. Although Shohjo-tai is notable for their exotic Dance Pop hits, they were also capable of singing sentimental and romantic love songs, notably sentimental vocals such as the moody "Pink towel", their second best-selling single "Ogenki Desuka? My friend", the melancholic "Futari no Island", and the beautiful "Summer Memories". At the same time they even produced a number of funny and playful songs such as "Magokoro Dynamite" and the childish "Motto Charleston", and later still covered numerous English classics (translated into Japanese) such as "Johnny Angel", "Daydream Believer" and ultimately challenged themselves by refining their performance with the innovative and hi-tech Eurobeat elements in their subsequent hits, most notably their successful 1987 single "Sakasama", and a pure English version of "Can't Take My Eyes off You" in exotic Techno style!

Shohjo-tai had another remarkable achievement in 1988, when they were chosen to sing the 1988 Seoul Olympic main theme "Korea" which released simultaneously as both the single and B-side, one in Japanese and one extended English version! I remember the hit was also covered (translated into Malay) by one of our famous 80's Malay female pop star Raja Ema prior to the Olympic sport! This achievement distinguished Shohjo-tai as the first Japanese act to perform in Korea since the end of WW2, thus effectively initiated the second wave of "Japanese invasion" into Korea some 40 years after the war.

Apart from singing and acting, Shohjo-tai had also demonstrated their multiple talents by popularizing many postmodern popular cultures such as cosplay, "kuso" and most notably the surprisingly entertaining "kawaii shohjo" trend featuring naive and comical body language with silly and childish facial expression as can be seen clearly here in this wallpaper! Their "kawaii" image, together with their hits, had been deeply influential among Asiatic regions especially Hong Kong and Taiwan where a number of homegrown girl groups and young female stars emerged to imitate their style and met with success in Chinese pop music market. Nowadays the "kawaii" trend still going hot among major Asian countries and undoubtedly serves as the metaphor for every Japanese teenage girl and most notably, the Japanese manga and anime female characters!

So unfortunate for such a fine group, Shohjo-tai was disbanded in 1989 after releasing their 17th single and 13th album due the extremely tough competition (a very common phenomenon in the sense of Japanese modern economy doctrine) resulted by the rapid growth of Jpop market and the rise of numerous highly capable and fashionable but somewhat seasonal Jpop "superidols" and "supergroups" following the trend pioneered by Shohjo-tai. However, some of the Shohjo-tai members, such as the glamorous Miho and pretty Reiko, maintained a moderately successful solo and acting career for years. In 2001, the Shohjo-tai had a reunion concert and met with success for once again.

I created this piece because I wanted to try and apply some of the composition rules I've learned in my 2-D Digital Design class to something that wasn't just black and white line. I'm pleased with the way it came out. I laid out 3 pictures of LeBron James in a symmetrical, radial pattern with one of the three pics superimposed on the top the others, which nicely breaks up the repetition of the forms.

Didn't really do too much to this one...I hate the fact that the ball was huge and red and it blended with the background way too well. They needed to get one that was a different shade or something. Makes the shot look like crap, imo. {Because of course it's not Maru's fault for freaking holding the ball like that AT ALL, lol. He was probably told to do that for all I know.} I do like the fact that his blue shirt breaks it up a little though. ^.^ So points for Maru, lol.

Im sorry Jeesh its not like I broke your face! Punk walked around him and headed to the ring. When he got there he was facing the guy he hit with the door earlier today and he couldnt help it but smirk this should be easy when Alberto got to the ring he tackled punk to the ground and didnt even bother to wait for the bell to be rung. Not get off you two! the referee tries to separate them and he manages to. Punk rolled out the ring holding his arm in pain with a very pissed off expression on his face youre going to regret on doing that and left Alberto in the ring laughing his head off.
CM Punk was back stage still holding his arm in pain when he bumps into someone. Watch were youre!-he looks up and it was his lover Sheamus. What happened to your arm fella? Alberto tried to break it like how he does to every superstar Punk shook it a little Dont do that youre going to make the pain worse Sheamus grabbed Punks arm and massaged it Ow! This is Selena the Fairy of the Moon. She has the power over moon and stars. At year 2 she also has the power of the sun, from her sister. Her sister is evil and with the help her friends Selena defeated and got the power over the sun. Selena doesn't use as much though. Her story is similar to Blooms. She the princess of Luna (a kingdom on the moon). Her kingdom was under attack when Selena was a baby and her mother send her to earth. On earth is where Selena grows up. She was raised by a really nice women name Beth. 16 year pass and she meet Crissy. Crissy was going to Magix and sense that Selena is fairy. Selena at first didn't believe it but realized she was right. She know was adopted and what to know where she came from. She went to magix with Crissy. There they meet Ivy, Lyrical, and Data (they meet Gema later). Selena and Crissy becomes really close that they calls themself sisters (they not really sisters). Selena also is the one that had thought of Charmz Club. At the end of the 1st half of year 1 she learn who she was. and what happen. The 2nd half of year 2 she meets her sister (her real sister), Stella the fairy and queen of the sun (not the Stella from Winx club). At the end she learns Stella is reason why Luna was under attack and defeated her. She also saved her kingdom. During year 2 she learning how to be a princess with the from her mother and her friends. Here are some facts about her (it in 1st person):

So yeah I've been in an art block lately sooo yeah

Finally managed to break it enough to draw this.

In short, what inspired me other than just wanting to draw something was an image from Asano Inio's "Ctrl+T" book with three girls in three different palettes. So, decided to try drawing something with a limited palette, just so happened to end up being three girls. ... Anddd I wanted a new desktop wallpaper to replace my old Kaiba one so yeah. Made it black and fit into a 1366x768 thing for my own desktop. Not sure if I like white or black better.

Also, perspective/foreshortening/whatever practice. As you can see I am not good at it.

I also need to draw more in real life howeverrr. I need pens for that. Old school bic pens from my school days can only get me so far.

Kamiko, Sonomi, Tsuhgi (C) me blah blah blah.

What should I do with these girls man. I have like more than a ton of sprites of them with walk cycles and warddrobes and facial expressions and everything but if I made it in Gamemaker it'd take like five events minimum for every customizable piece and then there's the issue of what on earth the game would be about. I mean they're three girls with pretty much very detailed lives in my head yet they're too... normal for anything game-y. That or I suck at whatever format I can think of like writing or comics.

Oohhh welll. Also another randomish category choosing.

AHBL II Collage

I've just spent some time making a collage of the 'All Hell Breaks Loose II' Supernatural Convention (Sydney, May 8 2010) for my computer desktop. I used the photo ops, my autographs, the ticket, photos I took in the auditorium, as well as a couple of other people's photos, which were close-ups, unlike mine.
I love how it turned out, so I can kind of relive the memories in one go - every time I look at my desktop! (Okay, so now I'll get even less work done, but whatever...)

Hubb Productions have also just released their DVD of the entire convention, and so I bought it yesterday. I can't wait to get it and relive it all word for word and image for image (especially Misha feigning a brain aneurysm, miming a blow-job, and suggestively licking his lips, not to mention Samantha waving imaginary shotguns around... oh, and Misha's hilarious auctioneer impression - did I mention Misha?), I'm so excited! Hope it comes soon. And here's also hoping that *I'M* not on it anywhere! (That would be embarrassing! Even so, I think I'd be easy to pick out from the blindingly bright red scarf, LOL)

Saga WP: Break Me Down

Well I've made quite a few wallpapers lately. I had a sudden flash of creativity and just went WP mental!

So this one is of Saga from alice nine.
This would be the first ever WP I've made of him. The way he's crouched down was just- awesome. i don't know why, I just like the position he's in because it really adds some sort of- movement to the image, what with the lightening and all.

The lyrics on the WP are taken from the song "Break me Down" by Red. It's a good song ! in fact- Red's a good band so go look them up !

I didn't actually do much editing to the picture. I just cropped it a bit, did a few photoshoppy things- added the lyrics and ta da!

Feel free as usual to use any of the WP's I use, but like I always say- PLEASE DON'T REMOVE THE CREDITS AT THE BOTTOM! Even if the WP did take like 10 mins to make, it still took some effort and creativity so no- don't do it. Don't even THINK about it. Thank you muchly ^-^
