Why Donate?
Demon Road is a free comic and always will be. It will be updated for as long as I have time to do it or complete it, however donations can actually contribute a lot to getting a comic done and speed up updates. The idea that pages take me a very long time to do because during my off periods I update so infrequently, or even during my on periods that I only update once a week is untrue. If left to my own devices, I can probably do a page every 2-3 days depending on complexity, or even a page a day if I where to make this my full time job. Unfortunately it is not and doing work that pays the bills needs to take priority. I am a freelance artist and much of my income comes from one-off commissions or short term jobs that come in. Having recently finished school and having moved, myself and my room mate (and co author/artist) have a very large pile of extra bills and debt to work off, so what little free time we have left over from our full time jobs is spent doing private commissions through DA for other people.
Where does all this leave time for comics? Well, that's the thing, it doesn't. Most of the comics I have time to post are done by pulling nighters or worked on bit by bit over the week on my lunch breaks, any (not spare) time and it has not been good for me. Donations help free up time in a very significant way. Every $10 we get is an hour that we don't have to spend taking private commissions or taking on new jobs that take time away from the comic. In fact, if every watcher of the comic donated only $2 a month, we would be able to afford to update every weekday.
