I did it!! This is the first time I am participating in a dA-design battle! And I am soo excited about it!! I really hope you all like my design, a little cutie-monster being afraid of a spider under the bed (where monsters are told to live ^^) and now asking to sleep in your bed! It took me really long to draw and design the T-Shirt, but it was much much fun, especially since I tried to discover sime kind of a new style! ^^

P.S.: The little rabbit he is holding is inspired by a selfmade plushie of my little sister! ^^

Many of you mentioned that my design has too many colors... But I believe it was only a recommendation, else it would mean they would only accept vectors, because when you are painting something you always have different hues and tones... I also think they would have written it in the official rules or the artistic guidelines, but they didnt, so it is probably just a tip to not use more than 7 colors! (I think anyway, that I used only brown, red, blue, yellow and cyan... so not more than 7 colors)

Music and art go hand and hand and sometimes theres that moment where it just hits you at your core. Whether it be through the rhythm, words, or even the instrument, the heart lights up and the emotions go wild. At least thats what its like for me.

Mythical Creatures T-Shirt

I'm back! And here's my submission for the recently announced Mythical Creatures t-shirt contest. I got really inspired by this contest and wanted to take part, as I've always been a huge fan of all kinds of mythical animals/creatures. Tried to make the shirt appealing to all genders and ages, so the characters are not too evil looking on this, and I wanted to include some very popular and well known creatures from all around the world representing the theme; the dragon, pegasus, gryphon and werewolf. Something for hopefully everyone!

Only covers 1 print area ((no side) and it's inside 2 design zones). Contains 5 colours (red, grey, white, brown and yellow as seen in the stash picture [link]). A bigger version of the design can be seen here:

Medusa Design

A color variation on my Medusa piece.
Mr. Cain used to keep snakes, and he had one that was red, so of course he wanted me to make Medusa's snakes that color - and I ended up liking it. I wish I had time to go back and do the stripes, but, eh.
I put them on both the red and grey shirt, but I think the grey works better. All the red was a little much.

OH NO! The dA Overlords have just given life to their most devious of all creations: Fellabot! It's out to terrorize the city of deviantsVILLE by destroying all of its artistic works! Who will save us and put an end to this abomination ONCE AND FOR ALL?!

Here's my robotic design of Fella for the Retro Future Design Challenge. This was drawn using only my mouse & keyboard (no tablet), Paint.NET and Inkscape.

The only stock image used in this artwork is the [required] t-shirt template from the Retro Future Design Challenge Assets.
I remade the dA logo from scratch. It's nothing much but it's not a borrowed stock image.
This t-shirt design was made using only two colors: black & red.
The font, Selznick Remix NF, is licensed for commercial use.

When the Dragon soars and the Phoenix dances, the people will enjoy happiness for years, bringing peace and tranquility to all under heaven.

Legend claims the Dragon holds the power of everlasting life among his claws. This most valuable treasure, wisdom, is made possible only to those who perceive real truth and attain enlightenment. The jewel that grants all desires, symbol of all power and knowledge.

The magnificent Red Bird, Fenghuang (Also known as the Chinese Phoenix) is the symbol of high virtue and grace; also symbolizes the union of Yin and Yang; shadow and light, heat and cold, woman and man taming each other in an eternal dance; opposites need each other to maintain balance.

Each pearl stands for a being. The four of them are in clockwise order, starting from the one the Dragon is holding: South, West, North, and East.

The Dragon is the East and the Phoenix is the South. (The other two are the Tortoise/North; and the Kirin/West)

But the main picture is for the first two, which represents the union of Yin and Yang. And so is why it's called "Quarter past six"; since the time would tell those cardinal directions.

The message on this piece is that, since the Phoenix represents the woman, she would be the most valuable treasure as is being held as the jewel by the Dragon. Therefore, the wisest creature in the world.

With all the great (like seriously, I am loving this contest. I feel terrible inadequate though!) entries, I felt inspired to do another piece. And then I was like "I'll challenge myself to design something for a red shirt!", which probably wasn't the greatest idea I have ever had. I like the idea of using the shirt as color. But it was fun to go monochromatic!

I think it'd actually make a pretty cool print just by itself, too.

When I saw a retro-future themed contest I knew I had to enter, after all it is the most imaginative and unique form of futurism since future predictions from decades ago were less bounded by the more realistic expectations and facts we have in the field of science fiction today

Perhaps one of the most classic ideas that people used to genuinely believe even though it seems silly to us today, is the concept of evil "little green men" on Mars who plan on invading the Earth. Of course, when deviantART's beloved mascot takes a trip to the red planet to see what's going on, he finds little green....llamas, who aren't trying to take over the Earth but still don't seem all that friendly

I created this in Photoshop since I don't know enough about Illustrator which is normally what this type of stuff is done in. I did make the original much larger resolution, just in case Wish me luck! Though with the voting tab right there you can do more than just wish

When I first read about it, I really wanted to draw the dummy emote I just love that little guy!!

And I love fire; it's fascinating and beautiful - well who does not love it??

So I combined these and TADAA. Dummy and fire

I received a PM for their Director of Marketing, so yeah. Had to change it.

Now, what worries me is that I not entirely sure if I'm allowed to do this -- with the submission deadline over. But if I were to leave it alone, it would have been disqualified anyway. (Plus things would get ugly if I were to actually win.)

I've contact DeviantWear about this, and they were cool with it so all is good.

Phew!

I mean, made it at the LAST moment! That was close! I mean, Indiana Jones close! Anyway, this was pretty down to the wire for me. as I literally worked on this for almost 2 days straight!

I wish I have time work on my other ideas for this contest, but this will work on it's own. Meet the PaintBrush Buddies! (All are named after their color.)

The contest stated that it wanted Cute Monsters, so I made nine of them... and a city! And one thing that was made clear that the monsters have to something that's NOT scary of menacing, but adorable and heartwarming. These monsters, or well living paint blots, all have unique personalities, so their should be someone for anyone to think is cute.

On the front side, You have the PaintBrush Buddies standing in front of a painting of a city, their city. Notice how the area painted is shaped as a heart? It simply means, "We do what we love!" Each of the buddies even has a small painting of what they like personally.

So yeah! Expression one's self.

Now on the back, you have the logo being vandalized by, who I call, the Black -n- White Bros. (Clever name, I know right?!) They're a mischievous pair who aren't too fond of color. And even though they dress somewhat dapper, they can act a bit juvenile... The janitor isn't pleased.

So yeah, this is everything! Now please! I made this a bit late, so I'm faaaaaaaaaaaaaar behind in votes. So if it isn't too much trouble, please click the "I'd wear this" button, help me get go to the Semi-Finals and help a artist out!

This is my entry for the Mythical Creatures T-Shirt Design Challenge!

I did a Nekomata~ From the Japanese culture!

"In some places when an old cat becomes a bake-neko, its tail is said to split in two, then it is called a neko-mata. Like most bake-neko, neko-mata are unusually large cats, reportedly a meter and a half long minus the bifurcated tail, and often walk about comfortably on their hind feet. They are said to dance and manipulate the dead like puppets, and are associated with strange fires and other unexplainable occurances. Sometimes the tails of kittens were cut off as a precaution, as it was thought that if its tail couldn't fork, a cat could not become a bakemono."

My 'Cute Monster contest' entry. Please vote if you like my design by hitting the 'I'd Wear This!' button

I wanted to create a clean and simple design that targets all audiences including deviantART ^^ I've never really done anything like this so it was quite hard to get in to, as well as trying to meet the criteria. It took some time to decide what kind of monter to create but i feel the dragon/dinosaur pleases both males and females of all ages.

This is more what I was aiming for. Usually I like to stick to the tried and true red-white-and-black theme, but the Deviant Green went well with this, and kept truer to the feel of the site here.

Anyway, used the same brush pack for this as I did the other Design--Solid Ink Splatter, which has totally free liscencing and says I don't even have to give credit so I think I'm doing just fine here--and the logo. Took a generic Tribal Dragon tattoo thing and put every single one of FOURTY EIGHT splatter brushes on an individual layer and resized, twisted, skewed and warped them to make them fit parts of the dragon I wanted. I eventually hid the base entirely in order to fan out the wing, elongate the tail and add the claws.

Don't take the side view toooo seriously--I just warped the original template to make it look kinda like it would, so it would be evident that the loop on the back is the extension of the tail.

Anyway, I know I can't vote for my own design, but I actually want to wear this, so I'd appreciate any votes and/or publicity you could toss my way. I'd buy this shirt even if I hadn't made it. I freaking love it.

This is my second entry for the contest. Actually, it's just another version of my previous design, which got rejected from the contest because it had more than 4 colors. I know many of you pointed that out to me, but I had to give it a try.

So yeah, this one was done with Photoshop , to make sure this time it wouldn't have more than 4 colors. Unfortunately, I don't think this design is as interesting as my color pencil version, but I hope you guys will like it anyway.

_{8bit phoenix the design is actually something that I had since about 6^th grade that I didn't use for anything really... So I took the old 2005 sketch of it and did a pixilated recolored version for this contest.}

_{EDIT: I did resubmit an edit to this I don't know if that alters the voting but oh well Anyway the edit was the layout (Much cleaner) And I redid the coloring for the pheonix minimizing the colors down to 7, redoing the front/back, and removing the lines for the redesign.

The colors for the redesigned version is actually the exact colors I used for the original drawing in 2005! I used orange, yellow, red, and black sharpie permanent markers for the original art of it}

My entry for the DA t-shirt design contest. The design was inspired by a quote from Albert Einstein, in which he declares "imagination encircles the world."

Leave it to Einstein to place imagination above intellect!

I tried to go for something simple, with mass appeal, that would be easy/cheap to apply to a t-shirt. This concept also translates well to most t-shirt colors (black, white, red, navy, etc.).

This is my first contest entry of any kind - feedback is appreciated!

since we're allowed to use Deviant Art mascots why not a monster Fella? nothing can be cuter

sketch by hand, made in adobe illustrator. everything is vector, adjustments in photoshop.

took a while to make it since im completely new to illustrator ( this was my first time using it). 2 days on and off of work and a lot of coffee

dont even try to copy . i have eyes everywhere

and yes, i used a reference. my fella plushie who loves to pose for sketches

PS: thats NOT blood. it's some type of goo on the back design the red tint is from the fella reflection since he's red
