For those of you who know anything about football (soccer for all you americans ) you'll notice its a 2006 Premier League ball (answers on a postcard for who manufactured it!) When i started this morning I wanted to do an addidas world cup ball but it's not the easiest to model........believe me!

So I settled for the Premiership ball cos I have one here in my room with me, also they are easier to make (buckyball and lots of interesting bevels, inner extrudes and deformations)

The GRASS on this image is 5034 x 5034 and comprises of 7 different stock images of grass and mud, each image used 1 -3 times, compped together in PS and then i did the white lines myself using soft light and colour blending modes plus some grunge brushes on layer masks......took me 3 1/2 hours for just all that!! The grass was 31 Layers and 534MB PSD document!!

I WOULD LIKE TO WISH ALL THE COUTRIES COMPETING IN THE WORLD CUP GOOD LUCK, EXCEPT ENGLAND, COS WE DONT NEED LUCK, WE NEED A MIRACLE!!

EDIT: Took into account the crits I recieved from both here and renderosity, made the ball dirty to please the masses, spent a further 3 hours re-texturing so I hope it looks better now...........

a new football playing technique

Here In germany (especially here in munich) the football delirium overlabs at the moment because of the WM 2006. Unfortunatly I could´nt resist to think about this theme and so this picture happen. Here is the idea:

The original rendering is in his ‘Merlin’s Kingdom’ site. It has a great ’Point Of View’ (POV) and already stands alone as a masterwork. There are others that are great and have to be altered to become greater. Anyway that is our intent. I use the word ‘our’ because this project is a collaboration between the two of us for future uploads to my ‘Masterpieces By Others’ (MBO) series. Some time ago I blundered into his site and saw a remarkable rendering by him, and sent him an e-mail telling him how much I admired that particular ‘Work Of Art’. And left it at that. However, he e-mailed me back and said how much he liked my site. So we started talking and eventually I suggested we take a number of his works and update them. Which meant, in this case, we would leave the originals alone in his site, then modify them for my ‘MBO’ series. So if you want to see how the originals look, you’ll have to travel to his site. Except in a few cases, like the original of this altered one, whereby the unaltered original is uploaded in advance of the series. Let me tell you, the originals are every bit as good as the modified ones, just not as busy. You know me, ‘More is better’.
The following is from the first uploading – ‘Masterpieces By Others Nr: 42’ and is apropos here: ‘When undergoing an alteration of this sort there are a lot of changes made, and that even goes for the title. The initial work on Merlin’s site is titled: ‘The Victor!’ When I uploaded that initial rendering on my site I titled it: ‘Triumph’. Then I was going to title the altered one: ‘Bloody Triumph’. Which gives you an idea where this work was headed. However, when we decided to place the setting of the fight in a Roman fight pit, and make it a fight to the death, we changed the name to something that was more apropos: ‘Death Pit Victory’. Then to give a female gladiator (‘Gladiatrix’ is the name for a female gladiator) meaning to the title we changed it to: ‘Death Pit Victrix’. And so it goes – And that was just the title. As mentioned before, there will be a number of these original, and then modified works uploaded on my ‘MBO’ series on a weekly basis. Trust me in this, they are worth the wait.
