Well, in fact, I used this same color scheme in several images in the last few months... Here are some examples:


I built the structure in SketchUp, rendered it in Vue. My biggest problem here was deciding when to stop building it because I just wanted to go on and on and on...

Several people commented on how dangerous this can be. Well, fear not because those orange stripes are in fact a force-field generator, automatically activated when someone, equipped with a "Kinetic Bracelet", enters their area of influence. The force field will automatic cancel the kinetic and potential energies of your moving body if, for example, you happen to slip and fall. Therefore, you will effectively stop your fall and start floating above the stripe. The "Kinetic Bracelet" will then call your "Hover Vehicle" to the proximity and you will be able to jump on board and select your next destination.

The "Kinetic Bracelet" has an "adventure" mode which you can activate and will cancel the effect of the orange stripes. This way you can dive between levels at will. Do it at your own risk. The insurance will not cover accidents if this mode is activated.

The "Kinetic Bracelet" has an "extreme" mode which will randomly change the effect of the force field. For example, it can increase your kinetic energy and decrease your potential energy, thereby allowing to make huge jumps effortlessly. It's also extremely dangerous... and, of course, the insurance will not cover any accident.

Warning: not all areas are equipped with orange stripes. The "Kinetic Bracelet" will not let you move in these areas unless you set it to "adventure" mode. ]]>

Anyways for those of you who are my intended audience, I plan on doing a comic this summer after I get done with school and all that. This isn't necessarily going to be in it but I decided to start taking better notes of ideas and this idea hit me while I was playing Warframe today so I decided to lay something down for it. I will probably explore the idea more as I do quite like it and its simliar to other story ideas I have had in the past that never quite took off. Testing the waters to see what the response to it is. ]]>

It's true enough: we were so good at imagining the future, once upon a time, that even though we've ended up with some pretty great things our present just can't compare with the future we thought we were getting. Would you REALLY rather have an Ipod than a jet pack?

But on the other hand, we've gradually been freeing ourselves from some of that social baggage whose weight keeps us dragging our heels through the turnstiles of the future.

So since we can nearly see our way ahead to the days when the metallic content - or the color - of our outer selves won't make a pig's whisker of a difference to anyone, maybe we're getting a better bargain than it seems we are, when we dwell on that whole flying car thing.

And that's the dichotomy I like about this picture. On its own shiny and colorful outer self it's about one thing, but it could just as easily be about another. And whichever way you choose to see it, it's always "Not what it used to be". ]]> [link] ).

My 'justification' for all the 'glowy bits' on her containment suit is that they are generating a 'barrier' around her exposed bits, invisible to the eye. Why not just appear nude then? Well, you expect to see a Quarian in some kind of containment suit, don't you (and its sexier if the suit is partially transparent ).

See my blog for another couple of images, although I'm not sure if I like the skin texture I used, so I might use another for any future Quarian images. ]]> [link]

Polaric ion energy was a highly-volatile form of energy based on polaric ion particles. Although polaric ions were capable of generating power on a large scale, polaric ion devices were prone to subspace chain reactions. Such a reaction had the potential of devastating an entire planet, vaporizing all life within a matter of seconds. Polaric ion explosions left behind high levels of polaric radiation, as well as subspace fractures persisting for hours after the event.
In the Alpha and Beta Quadrants, polaric energy research was investigated, but the destruction of a Romulan research station on Chaltok IV by a polaric ion detonation led to the Polaric Test Ban Treaty of 2268. This agreement effectively halted and prohibit all polaric ion research in the Alpha and Beta Quadrant.
One planet in the Delta Quadrant, encountered by the USS Voyager in 2371, was found to be using polaric energy as a planetwide power source. The culture was pre-warp, so contact was not initiated.

Pawpet (paH-Pet) are non corporeal creature that feed on Natural Electric Magnetic Energy. They are indigenous to Gallosis Space and the planet Gallos. Their history show they appear every 200-300 years. Their size range from 40 centimeters, to 6 Meters in diameter.

They are considered dangerous because they feeding process causes an electrical charge. This charge has injured, and physically harmed millions of Archans in the past 1500. Most notably 282 years ago where a fueling depot exploded from an energy discharge of a Pawpet. Nearly 400,000 Archans died from the explosion in one of the largest diasters of nature ever recorded on the planet. Pawpets although are harmless most the time, as they tend to stay in open areas of nature, and feed off the planets natural Magnetic energy.

Now one is certain where Pawpets come from, yet 294 years ago, an Archan Scientist, Walf Foices summaries after a 20 day study of a Pawpet he captured they may be connected to an interstellar phenomena called the Ashanti Fountain. The Ashanti Nebula realeases a huge amount of light, enough to illuminate Gallos for several hours. Yet after countless expedition into the Nebula, no Pawpets were discovered.

Pawpets usually stay on Gallos for 24 days, and feed. After they reach a certain size (usually 1.5 meters) they tend to simply float to the heavens and disappear. No Pawpet has been sighted since the Archans achieved Space flight. One last finding was that Pawpets give off a high frequency radiowave. He believed this was a form of communication yet sounded like a distress call. Due to the limited time he had to study the creatures, no attempt to communicate was made.

Walf used a low energy magnetic countainer wrapped in rubber to trap Pawpets.

The Ashanti Nebula is a stellar cluster surrounding the Gallos system. It emits a high energy Magnet field that makes circumnavigation hazardous in it's core. The Passt 80 years the Archans have established a direct trade roue between Gallos and the Alpha Quadrant.

Many of the properties of the nebula formed Gallos, and some theorize that the core of the planet it'self as well as the Gallos moon are the base elements that formed their solar system. The nebua is loaded with Kryon gases, Topaline, and Cadmium. There is no natural explanation what causes the magnetic field, although trace residue of Polaric on Radiation have been discovered rendering 70% of the nebula unnavigable.

In 2284 the Breen occupied much of the Gallos sector and seeked to use Gallos for it's rich deposits of Topaline. Originally they were going to mine it fro the nebula, but the agnetic Field hampered equipment, and ships navigational systems. In 2278 they annexed Gallos and enslaved the Archans to mine Topaline for them. This lasted for 15 years when the Archans overthrew the invaders. With no military support to navigate the Ashanti nebula, the Breen retreated, but an uneasy truce have existed to this day with the race.

Gallos is a Class M world with moderate to very temperament zones. The planet only has 32% surface water, which of the 4 continents are mostly rocky and arid deserts. Mean temperature of the planet is 84 degrees Fahrenheit, and they have 2 moons. Their gravity is 1.23 G's yet their development gives them lighter density bones to cope with the heavier gravity.

Gallos creates a magnetic field that rivals a Gas Giant. It's core composed of Cadmium, and Topaline produces this field. It's core also is known to have trace amounts of Polaric radiation, yet is so deep it has little to no efect to the life on the surface. Another anomaly of the planet is that it has a 0 degree inclination making the entire planet temperate as Gallos has no seasons. The other anomaly concerns it's magnetic field. Unlike most class M worlds, the planets core spins oppisite the direction of the surface. Added that Galen obits the planets Core in the same direction. This makes the planet with help of it's moon into one planet sized Magentic Field Generator. "You always were getting into places you don't belong. Am I going to have to punish you all over again?" The girl looked up as a shape lowered from the upper structures down onto the main catwalk. She thought she was prepared for the sight, but she wasn't. She stared with fear, revulsion, and pity at the woman-monster. Powerful scorpion-like legs grew grotesquely from her body and they held her up high in the air. Her skin looked bruised and flayed but muscular and strong. Worst of all, though twisted and full of hate, the young girl could still recognize the monster's face.

"Mother," she said, fighting back tears. "it's not to late to end this madness. Let me help you." ]]>

It was child's play to replicate the process on the simpering fools who tried to stop her. Now her soldiers exert her will across the station, hunting down and collecting the remaining crew as raw materials for her ambitions. But now word has reached her of a troublemaker. There are always fools who will resist greatness, but she had hoped it would be different. No matter. Sacrifices must be made.

A hiss of the door cycling open heralded the troublemaker's arrival. From her hidden perch, she saw the girl enter warily. In a way it was no surprise that it would be her coming to challenge. Such it is in nature. Eventually all offspring must offer challenge to the supremacy of the parent. Time for a brief family reunion. Her powerful new body climbed down into view smoothly and with inhuman grace.

"Well well. I was wondering when you'd show up." said the woman-monster. "You always were getting into places you don't belong. Am I going to have to punish you all over again?"

"Mother," said her daughter in a tearful voice, "It's not too late to end this madness. Let me help you." Such narrow minded sentimentality filled her with contempt and scorn." With a wicked smile she reached out with open arms to her naive daughter, her extra legs spreading open and their barbs dripping venom.

"Come then, child." she said with a sneer. "Come to Mama." ]]>
