TUTORIAL: how to draw raptors

i have had alot of people in the past either ask me how to draw raptors, or when will i make another tutorial. so here is a tutorial on raptors. grrrr. i hope its understandable and stuff.

This will prolly be edited a few times, i plan to add a new section every now and then. i am open for critique from those who perhaps have had even more experience with dromaeosaurids.

i am always available for redlining.

This is the 2nd cover for the Pathfinder comic series
This was done digitally, with scanned in ink wash textures that I created (That's how I did the stones and the clouds )

This digital process Ive been doing recently takes a bit longer but I'm really enjoying the polished look I'm getting from it

As always, I had to indulge in creating a spooky illustration featuring a few choice characters. This year it's Yewon and Yarrow in a Freddy Krueger-ish theme. I'm sure Yarrow would thoroughly enjoy those claws and scaring the bejeezus out of Yewon, heh heh heh!

Tattoo design for a 3/4's sleeve
Now I'm not super into doing tattoo designs,
1: because I know tattoo artists like handling their own work. and
2: Because I don't expect the buy to pay much for a preliminary design.
But this was an exception. I was approached by a fellow artist who wanted me to combine Mucha with my own style. Having a full Mucha sleeve myself I thought this would be fun. So I took it on! I referenced the Flowers and the 3 girls from multiple Mucha books and added the rest.
It was really fun, the drawing is huge, 18"x24". It took me forever. I'm not used to drawing so much stuff in one composition, If you know my work you know what I mean.
It was fun to go back to one of my favorite artist and rediscover how f*ckn awesome he was!!!
I added some cool stuff like splatters and paint streaks just for fun, It wont be apart of the final tattoo, I'm just so used to "print" that I had to add stuff to it.

ah..another roro jonggrang. forgive me, i just love her too much that i can't fight an urge to draw her...
well, i realized the pose is a bit weird, but yeah...can't help it.

i got confused at the beginning what to put in the background...at first i want a traitional javanese chair made from jati wood, but i failed got the pic. then cause i am too lazy to draw it myself, i though..hell yeah...why not put some batik motif here? then i put it. the letter R i put in the end to make some composition..must be R and J, but i forot the J.

since javanese's standard for beauty is yellowish egg skin and black shinning long hair...so there she is. oh, anyway, her outfit isn't the traditional javanese one, i mix it with some modern touch... the thing beside her is a bokor, a traditional incense of javanese.. to burn dried leaves and flowers to create some aroma.

humm...what do you think?

I know, I know, but I only had a few days to finish it
and my traditional process does not like to be rushed.
and to make it worst, I think it came out even better then most of my traditional pieces....that bums me out but at least I gave the client something they loved
I promise the next one will be painted

and for all you digital artist out there.....now I know why you do it, its pretty freakn fun!!

After a good deal of edits , i decided i had to cover up part of the car for compositions sake, but since I had the full car drawn and coloured already, why waste it?

This is actualy almost actual size in the picture, so you can see how large I work when you look at the original picture linked above.

I drew this car by looking at my 1/48th scale model. My eye was getting tired, because anyone who has drawn a car form an actual toy or model knows you have to close one of your eyes to get it right. This is because it is so small, and stereovision can play tricks.

Hope you guys like this one! I changed the colour, but this is the colour of my model and I wanted to change it up.

Ok, is the first time that I submit a picture with Mature Content, and I feel good with the result, because the anatomy, details and other things I experimented to draw and paint. I know the anatomy isn't full exactly to realistic, is just the way I appreciate the male anatomy and just born from my mind, this is MY anatomy not the one acording with you like or it should be correct or not.

I was trying to make a more detailed background as well.

NOTE: this isn't a tutorial as such; i worked out a pretty solid method while working on these illustrations (I ended up producing more than 20 of them) but I've since changed my process a fair bit and always continue to experiment, but either way I hope it's helpful.

OK, I LOVE this piece!!! SEE, I can draw dudes, ha

I actually did it on a friends computer while I was traveling for a show (Photoshop CS4, I prefer CS3)
It was one of those pieces that just came together in all the right ways.
All the line work was done with pencil then scanned in and I retraced the line in photoshop to make it look more refined.
The hair is done with scanned in brush strokes made with a Japanese calligraphy brush, then finished with white soft brush strokes in photoshop. The skin....well that's kind of an extensive process. I'll make a video of that SOON so you guys can steal my technique and soul, ha.
The Belt was all done in photoshop using gradients, scanned in textures and the shape tool. The sword was done the same way. The blood on his arm was done by scanning in ink blotches on watercolor paper, then colorized in photoshop. I actually used black ink for that.

This is the First cover for a new series with a old character, Elric. I'm pretty sure I'm doing the next few covers for this and I'm going to go ALL out for them. So keep your eyes peeled and go buy them (when they're out)

"Many would describe the people of Raziel as primitive in their ways and antiquated in their beliefs, but few would describe the Raziel-aiya as without richness of culture, for theirs is filled with the lore and tantalizing secrets of days long forgotten.

"The Raziel-aiya are divided into two people, the Niyotael and the Ahghaeri. While the eleven tribes of Ahghaeri are known to have given rise to both daughter-nations Aldyr and Barrow long ago, it is the twelfth tribe, the Niyotael, that best keeps the dark mystique that characterizes this ancient people. Most easily distinguished from their plains-dwelling brothers by their darker complexion, ebony hair, and the fact that they are most at home within the jungles and forests of the deepest wild, the Niyotael often serve to symbolize the passion of the Raziel-aiya for the pursuit of spiritual balance and oneness with the elements of both Sun and Moon, as symbolized in their religion by the Scale of Raziel.

An excruciatingly detailed old-world style map of the Lost World Paruda, the third and last world making up the Tripartitus, the three-part universe featuring in my story of the same name, The Tripartitus.

All fonts were made from scratch in Illustrator, except the "Greater Juubai/Niyotael/etc." font.

All graphics were also made from scratch in Illustrator, including the triquetra in the top left, which alone took about three hours to make absolutely perfect.

Yes, all mountains and trees were hand-drawn individually.

Something has scared little Death the Kid, probably something symmetrical. Though I think Shinigami-sama loves his son, I bet while raising him he was often confused on how to handle a child (especially an Obssesvie Compulsive one).
