Most of them are overlays that have the opacity turned down.

I also prefer to use separate color layers in most cases as opposed to coloring my base layers. This is my own preference, you should experiment with coloring all the different layers to get a different product. By no means is this the only good way!

Finally, the second layer is very important to bringing out the lower spiral because without it, the spiral becomes too dark and the texture doesn't stand out. Notice the layer underneath and its gradient as well as the layer above and its gradient. They both work in tandem to produce the base.

Without further ado, here are the parameters:

one {
:PRkygn2t3ZTPOOuRA07DQ/fQwnSwmubJWWW27Cdon9WQAyhs3XwWi2mpllUIlne68rPFlss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==
}

If you have any questions about how the parameters work or just want me to ramble (warning: I ramble) about them, feel free to ask questions.

Make something unique and awesome with them! And if you want to know more about creating images in Ultra Fractal, buy the courses and go through them, you won't be disappointed!

---

Oh god I broke it! The point is, they can't be transferred, so you can't buy them off of me. I'm sorry. I also don't know if she has any accommodations available for Mac users or not.

---

Final (I hope) edit: If you can run UF, you can run the ebooks.

Hope that answers any questions!

---

Final (no really, this time it is I swear) final edit: Since this image is so popular, I decided to post the parameters to it for people to look at.

The only things I require is that you make something different from what I made (I don't want to see a million re-renders of Chocorose floating around. =/) and that you post a link to the things you made with it so I can ! And obviously don't take the parameters and sell prints of my piece, but I figure that one's obvious . . .

TIPS: Notice the underlying texture layers and the layer settings/gradients I used on them.

Without further ado, here are the parameters:

one {
:PRkygn2t3ZTPOOuRA07DQ/fQwnSwmubJWWW27Cdon9WQAyhs3XwWi2mpllUIlne68rPFlss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==
}

It is really a pleasure, with proper zooming techniques, to be able to find all sorts of imagery withing the Mandelbrot set.

I achieved this result by zooming in just off the tip of the Iron Cross formation. With periodic doubling, this results in the formation being duplicated twofold around the original zoom point. Objects closer to the centroid appear much larger, creating the effect of the bottom arm being much larger than the others. There is another cross identical to this one upside down just below the bottom of the image. you can also see two such smaller cross formations within the center of the cross where the arms meet.

Thank you and comments, fave, etc appreciated!!

Made way back on August 30th, 2007. Autumn was just starting then, so this was more appropriate then than now. I never got around posting this fractal. Now that I am posting this I see a lot of wrongs with it, most notably the colors - I could have reversed the positioning so that the most red point is at the tip of the leaves. Too lazy to dig up the parameters, but will change anything if requested.

My comments, made on that day, while the fractal is rendering:

"A few days ago, I decided (again) that making symmetrical fractals only is not very good for a fractalist. After many random batches and falling into a creative cul de sac a few times, I decided (again) that relying on random batches alone isn't the way to go.

Clicking on the "New Blank Flame" button and making a fractal from scratch can seem to be quite tough, but I made it easy by finding leaf-shaped patterns and shapes. In other words, I am very biased towards making leaves.

So, I present to you, yet another leaf fractal with a totally uncreative title. I adjusted the weights to make it look more like leaves of my liking. Most of my leaves fractals is comprised of 2 triangles, so is this."

As usual, request for parameters of fractals is open, and - if you want a higher resolution, or in PNG format, or a higher quality render, ask and you will receive. Tweaks welcome, please give me a link to your tweak.
It is known as a corona discharge or point discharge to physicists. The few people that have had the privilege of viewing an actual St. Elmo's fire have given various descriptions. It has been seen with different physical characteristics depending on the conditions of the viewing. It could be blue to bluish-white, silent to emitting a hissing sound, and ghostly to solid. Some people belive that the Hindenburg was ignited by St. Elmo's fire in 1937, however this theory has yet to be proven.

St. Elmo's fire occurs during thunderstorms - generally after the most severe part of the storm has passed - when the air reaches a very high voltage. These conditions are necessary to accumulate a charge large enough to create the phenomenon. It is always found attached to a grounded conductor with a sharp point; the most common are masts of sailing ships, church steeples, airplane wings or propellers, or even horns of cattle. The non-attached version of St. Elmo's fire is known as Ball Lightning.

In Shakespeare's The Tempest, Ariel the sprite, speaks of fooling with unlucky sailors while posing as the supposed omen:

I boarded the Kings' ship; now in the beak,
Now in the waist, the deck, in every cabin,
I flamed amazement; sometime I'd divide
And burn in many places; on the topmast
The yards and bowsprit, would I flame distinctly
Then meet and join.

In Melville's Moby Dick, the fisherman, Ishmael, observes:

"All the yardarms were tipped with a pallid fire, and touched at each tri-potential lightning rod with three tapering white flames, each of the three tall masts was silently burning in that sulphurous air, like gigantic wax tapers before an altar...in all my voyagings seldom have I heard a common oath when God's burning finger has been laid on the ship..."

Longfellow wrote in The Golden Legend:

Last night I saw St. Elmo's stars
With their glittering lanterns all at play.
On the tops of masts and the tips of spars.
And knew we should have foul weather today.

Longfellow also referred to St. Elmo's fire in The Challenge of Thor:

The light thou beholdest, streams through the Heaven,
In flashes of crimson, is but my red beard.
Blown by the night wind, afrighting the nations.
