This is a simple but I hope effective artwork called "Beginnings", that I have just completed. It is all about the wonder of creation. I chose the strong lighting to add to this mood, and the fantasy element of the dragon in the egg to give some extra magic.

Commissioned for of his character Yamitoral.

Another head/bust commission. ^^ I don't get commissioned to do head shots to often, so I always get excited when I do. This was the second in a series of two commissions I did for *kryvnus of his character, and it was also my first attempt at drawing a irezumi (the fancy colorful tattoo) on a character. But overall I'm quite pleased with it. ^^

Sorry too for the watermark covering her forehead... I couldn't really fit it in there without covering part of her face.

Painted completely in photoshop.
No Critique desired.

First, sorry about the disclaimers at the bottom of the sheet. Last time I posted something Cat's Eye related, I got a lot of requests to use the concept and really didn't know how to reply.

The Cat's Eye concept, the dimension it's related to and the fact that cats are involved has been in my material for a while, but the Winking Cats themselves are fairly new and sort of accidental. I was doodling a cat with a missing eye and thought it looked like it was winking, then the material kind of ran from there, picking up some things that I've been wanting to do but hadn't found a place for along the way. The entire mythology is based on the reddish gold eye shine that occurs in a cat's pupil when it hits the right light. Get up close enough to look at it, and there's a fiery void hidden in there.

I have plans for Peter Wink and Jacky.

Phew, this guy was a ton of work, but I'm insanely pleased with how he turned out. All those crystals...oh my God, Orth, all those crystals. XD

Added some sharks and fishies and some sweet lighting effects. ^^ I like to imagine this is one of the few times Orth has ventured from his dark, undersea trench home, rising to the surface to catch a glimpse of the sun...

Ah, these are the days I wish I was a Eastie. XD At the very least we could curl up together and do some calligraphy, hehe.

DAT ANATOMY, HURR. You have no idea. How happy. I am. With. That. I've really been trying to pay attention to more subtle muscles and such lately - I think it's been making all the difference. I also kind of softened up the shading, and also sharpened up the first cell underlay! An epic mix that you can definitely expect to see more of!

This one took longer to finish than I expected. After some sleepless nights, and loooong days, I finally did another MLP drawing. Yay. Still experimenting with the style though.
I started with a Nouveau-ish construction, as always, and... I was like "Fuck the canvas", I sneezed, and magic happened.

You may be asking yourself some questions:

"-What does Sunominius mean ?"
Well, it's a word recomposed with Souno- and Minio-, respectively meaning Dream/Sleep and Sweet in Gaulish. But since gaulish had a weird grammatical construction, and we do not have a lot of information about it, it may be wrong. But from what I read in Delamarre's book "Dictionnaire de la langue gauloise", it's the closest thing I could find. And I seriously think it's correct. But, if you speak gaulish better than me, tell me ! I'd be happy to correct it. So from what I know now, it means Sweet Dreams.

"-And why gaulish ?" 'cause it's been a while that I study it and I thought I could start to use it.
"-What's gaulish ?" Google. Now.

The Wandering Warrior

The warrior took his leave of the inner islands. He tired of the endless simpering dance of polite gestures, the courtly posturing, the ubiquitous petty intrigue. Manners and traditions were important, but there was more vital work to be done in the world. He made for the provinces, the colonies, the untamed territories. He wandered the lawless hills and forests, knowing no master but his own judgement of right and wrong. He reminded outlaw and peasant alike about the true nature of obedience and respect, as harshly as necessary. He hung from his waist the flag of the demon, the common sigil of the lordless provinces.
Though he wore the image of a demon, he never imagined he would meet one himself.

I wanted to redo the only color picture I have of this guy, with more of a concept art feel rather than super polished.

It's been some time since I 'included' him in my life/thoughts. Originally I just thought him up as my own idea of what a guardian angel could be, instead of the less interesting, white robes and harp version or what have you. Why not make it cool?

Thecla in the Arena

Blood and sand episode from early Christian Apocrypha. 'Acts of Paul and Thecla' describes the capers of a maiden called Thecla who becomes a follower of St Paul, and who is nearly martyred on a couple of occasions. During one such episode she is miraculously defended in the arena by a lioness.

The story never made it into the regular Bible due to containing dodgy theology, specifically an excessive cult of virginity, which would have been bad for the future of the church, and of the human species in general. However Thecla was still venerated as a saint, especially in Iconium (now Konya) where she was said to have lived.
