The Aquapsychology of the Fuel For Life :

I only paint to try to tell something, I only paint to feel alive.
It doesn't matter the machine, I just need the fuel to create,
If ideas are like droplets, the world is a tremendous ocean.
There are droplets in my mind and I need to take care of them.

When I am fine, my Sun converts the droplets into clouds,
Thanks to my Moon, the rain becomes a river irrigating my soul,
The Sun and the Moon drive the dance with the fuel for life,
It's a merry go round ride, it's a move that we call emotion.

When I listen to patients stories, I give them a warm welcome,
My Sun loses all its energy so the droplets begin to be heavier,
Then I feel stuck and frozen, indifferent to the human world.
That's why I paint, to reconnect me and recharge my batteries.

When I feel complete, satisfied by the fulfilment of a dream,
My Sun is overproud and eclipses the cold power of the Moon,
Then I am on the seven heaven, disconnected from the reality,
I waste of my droplets in the air. On waking, I feel empty inside.

When I draw without inspiration, this is just a graphic question,
I don't exist in these pictures, they are dry like a forced smile.
Then I need to take a new look at myself, I listen to my doubts.
The introspection always balances the Sun and the Moon powers.

Water and Art reflect my light, my image, my vision of the world,
Both can nourrish, carry, transform, dillute, extinguish the fire in me,
Both are the fuel of my life, an open door of my narcissistic realm.
Those droplets in my mind are my most treasured possessions.

Quick piece done over the winter break. I think it's the result of re-reading Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke a 2nd time, listening to too much Tarot (though I doubt it's really possible to have too much Tarot ), and it being winter. Although we have hopelessly lame winters in California. :/ It's hardly raining, let alone snowing. sighhh.

So, the original drawing was done in 2006 [link]

this drawing and also the painting was all completely done for myself and nobody else. i drew what i wanted to letting my mind wander as i drew, and again, as i painted. the anatomy is horrible, because i wasn't paying attention to make it look right, i just did what FELT right and what i thought was beautiful. the character here is also androgynous.

and when i drew it my life had been changing into something completely different. the desciption touches on that a bit.

now that my life and how i feel and think isn't the same anymore, i'll probably never forget how it was. the kind of mood the colors on this create is a place i crawl into as often as possible. it's easier to bring it on with my favorite inscence, something i used to burn alot last year. also, certain songs, and above all, the rain. i'm afraid after awhile i wont remember anymore. so i desperately try to hold on to who i was, as it slips away.

done in about 8 hours total, mostly tonight, over the course of a year and a half.

Photoshop CS3 and Painter v.2 with my Wacom Intous.

frame is stock by my new favorite place to hide.

Redraw of an old artwork. I had started it about a month ago then grew bored of it, but that draw it again contest gave me incentive to finish it. Its a girls head as a balloon! When this balloon pops..it wont be helium that releases. Shell pop when she reaches space. Weather prediction: cloudy with a change of raining brain matter lol. Or..perhaps she would be cared for by a child in heaven..thats what my mom always told me when I was little-when you let a balloon go into the sky, an angel child gets it

I got this idea a few months before I started working on this piece. I never exactly knew how I wanted to visualize it. I'm happy with how it came out.

I decided to experiment a bit for this one, and I think it's not as anime as usual, no? At least I tried haha!

_{This was for a private group I'm in, we had to take a sentence/part of a song and draw it in a literal way (not interpreting the song but drawing whatever the lyrics say).

I picked Foals - What Remains ([link]). It turned out weird, like the lyrics :'D

This is the part I drew, although I added bones around since they repeat it during the song so often :3

The Ship

These empty plains are distinctly quiet. Vast and freeing there is nothing infront of me but wide fields and a small path that leads through them. There is a low wind from the north that rustles the grass against my sides. The sky is grey and I can barely see the shapes of clouds and the warm air covers me like a blanket. I close my eyes and allow my mind to go blank.

Some time later I wake, yet with my eyes still closed with blackness surrounding me. I wonder, am I still asleep although aware of my state? Or am I too rested to open my eyes and the dream scape has passed? I do not remember having dreamed of anything. Regardless, I stand and open my eyes with little effort. I take a deep breath, bend backwards until my fingers touch the dirt and my back cracks six times. I filter my bare feet through the earth and relish the cool sensation from the soil not exposed to the warm air.

I begin to walk. Step by step along the path I walk for maybe 15 minutes. The wind at my back gracefully following me along.

Then it happens. It is as if air dropped dead. Dead silence. I hear nothing but the shuffling of my feet and my breathing. I feel the beat of my heart in my ears. Unrelenting, unyielding nothingness. I cease marching and stand still. I am able to hear the dust settle around my feet. Total stillness.

I look behind me, to either side, then back behind and I catch a glimpse of movement. Still in total silence, I see the grass miles away is moving. I see a wave come from the distance. A shock wave speeding towards me. An expanding bubble of invisible force. There is nowhere to run so I stand. It is here in seconds.

My ears are given no time to adjust, the sound, heavy rumbling horn, ear shattering, horrid vibrating, pulsating, encompass everything. I feel it killing me. I am clamped down on my hands and knees and bombarded. My skin shakes, my clothes and hair are forced back pulling me with them, the grass is blurred and the sky expands away. The sound reaches its peak then raises pitch before it ceases. It is followed by a vast echo.

I am on my knees and wipe the dirt from my eyes and cough. Grass and dust fall from the air all around and they make sounds as they fall back to the earth, sounds like rain. Everything is disturbed. It was so sudden, with no time to prepare. It was a calling, an announcement. I gather myself and head toward the sound northward.

I wander back along the path. In the silence a fog creeps toward me. It gains density the furthur I move into it. I follow the path, I trust it. The air becomes heavier and I can smell the ocean more and more with each passing hour. the grass become sharper and the path reverts to sand when the silence is broken. The sound of a fog horn erupts through the fog from just ahead. It is loud but not as destructive as before, yet I can see its ripples through the air, fast shock waves with each vibration. Its low pitch vibrates me to the core so I clench my ears and press up the slope before me. I can feel the oceans presence ahead, but can not hear it over the din.

I have reached what appears to be the tip of the slope that I know then leads down to the ocean. I recognize the fence beside me, the spot on it that I carved my name into. I am comforted by the familiarity amongst the foreign sound that is engulfing me.

Silence.

The sound stops. I look up at the sky which is now coming into view as the fog moves on. I turn and look down the slope behind me, the grey mist that flows down it like water. I feel the wind against my neck again and through my sandy hair. I shake out the grit and run my fingers through it as I turn back to the ocean that should be coming into view. But it is not the ocean that I see.

It is here. A vast, black, monolith. I have never dreamed of anything so large. Towering over the bay, dominating the land, sea, and air. Its giant hull pulsating and I can hear a low hum coming from it. I am terrified, though I can not look away. I am drawn to it. Like a beacon it called me and I must heed it. It bellows once more and fills my body with vibrations that I can even feel in the ground through my feet. I think it is acknowledging my presence. I find it intimidating yet strangely comforting. It is here. I can not deny it. I can only go forth. It is calling me and I will answer its call.

Black Rain : Hiroshima

I drew this because I watched this movie in Chemistry about Hiroshima and the atomic bomb. It was rather depressing and sad and now I'm mad at America [although Japan was also at fault too]

I went overboard with the colours so the black and white contrast on the girl isn't as obvious [pity, it was supposed to stand out!]

The black rain is referring to the black fluid that rained down shortly after the bomb had set off. It was ash and dust mixed together so the fluid was black, it was also extremely radioactive so although it quenched
the thirst of many survivors desperate for water, it poisoned them at the same time.

I tried to use a black and white contrast on the girl because of two things
1) the black imprints left on survivors from clothes [I thought that was interesting]
2) people and their radical hatred for another country, there's a lot of black and white, and that's not good when you look at things in a constantly radical point of view.

Tried a new style! I wanted to go for a bit of realism, it's not really realistic but it's a start? ;_;

I create you, paper doll, from the ashes to the rain, I create your little cloth little body and gave you pain, gave you feelings and tears to shed, paper dolls from stories you came. I dreamt of you before you were, I cut your little line constructed fingernails, but don't cry paper doll, your tears will erase the ink that draws your face.

Muñecas de Papel is the original name of this work, and it means Paper dolls, Alright to explain what I wanted to represent with this is a little difficult but I won't be rude and I'll do it. (anyway many of you won't even read this shit )

he is a paper doll, he's not a real boy, there are no scissors that can cut him because all the ones around are fake, they are part of what society wants him to be, now you must wonder what's with the hairs on the scissors, well that's none of your business anyway, joke, joke, that's surreal part of a dream that I had, I wanted to cut hair and the scissors would continue transforming into hair themselves and asides they even spoke, I would continue telling you about that dream but there appear some poops in it so I don't think that you needed to know that, why did I tell you anyway

Well Hope you like it, there are many interpretations for this one but I would have to write a long ass paragraph to explain what each of the elements mean and I am sure anyone has time to read that so enjoy and comments are appreciated

Major references to the bird from the coat of arms in Demian by Herman Hesse
Please note that name of the character Demian is not supposed to mean devil demon or anything with a negative connotation. Hes a good guy.

P. 22 Oh, over there? (Demian) said and smiled. I know the house. Theres something odd above the doorwayIt interested me at once. I didnt know offhand what he meant and was astonished that he apparently knew our house better than I did myself. The keystone of the arch above the doorway bore no doubt a kind of coat of arms but it had worn off with time and had frequently been painted over. As far as I knew it had nothing to do with us and our family. I dont know anything about it I said shyly. Its a bird or something like that and must be quite old. The house is supposed to have been part of the monastery at one point. Thats quite possible. He nodded. Take a good look at it sometime! Such things can be quite interesting. I believe its a sparrow hawk.

P.42 As I close my eyes to recollect I can see (Demians) image rise up: where was that? Yes, I have it now: in the little alley before our house. One day I saw him standing there, notebook in hand, sketching. He was drawing the old coat of arms with the bird above our entrance

P. 75-77 That night I dreamed of Demian and the coat of arms. It kept changing continuously. Demian held it in his hand, often it was diminutive and gray, often powerful and varicolored, but he explained to me that it was always one and the same thing. In the end he obliged me to eat the coat of arms! When I had swallowed it, I felt to my horror that the heraldic bird was coming to life inside me, and had begun to swell up and devour me from within. Deathly afraid I started up in bed, awoke.
I set about painting a fresh picture of the heraldic bird. I could not remember distinctly what it looked like and certain details, as I knew, could not be made out even from close up, because the thing was old and had often been painted over. The bird stood or perched on something, perhaps a flower or a basket or a nest, or on a treetop. I couldnt trouble myself over this detail and began with what I could visualize clearly. Out of an indistinct need I at once began to employ loud colors, painting the birds head a golden yellow. Whenever the mood took me, I worked on the picture, bringing it to completion in several days.
Now it represented a bird of prey with a proud aquiline sparrow hawks head, half its body stuck in some dark globe out of which it was struggling to free itself as though from a giant eggall of this against a sky-blue background. As I continued to scrutinize the sheet it looked to me more and more like the many-colored coat of arms that had occurred to me in my dream.
I decided to send (Demian) the painting of the sparrow hawk, even if it would never reach him. I added no message, not even my name, carefully trimmed the edges and wrote my friends former address on it. Then I mailed it.

P.78 (Beginning of chapter five, entitled The Bird Fights Its Way Out of the Egg) My painting was on its way searching for my friend Playing with the note I unfolded it one word stopped me cold; in panic I read on while cold fear contracted my heart: The bird fights its way out of the egg. The egg is the world. Who would be born must first destroy the world. The bird flies to God. That Gods name is Abraxas.
After reading over these lines a number of times, I sank into a deep reverie. There could be no doubt about it, this was Demians reply. No one else could know about my painting. He had grasped its meaning and was helping me to interpret it. But how did all of this fit together? Andthis oppressed me most of allwhat did Abraxas signify? I had never heard nor read the word. That Gods name is Abraxas

P. 121-23 (The old maid) left me alone in the hallway. I looked around and at once was swept into the middle of my dream. High up on the dark wood-paneled wall, above a door, hung a familiar painting, my bird with the golden-yellow sparrow hawks head, clambering out of the terrestrial shell. Deeply moved, I stood there motionlessI felt joy and pain as though this moment everything I had done and experienced returned to me in the form of reply and fulfillment With tears in my eyes I stared at my picture and read within myself. Then I lowered my eyes: beneath the painting stood a tall woman in a dark dress. It was she. She pointed up the my painting. You never made (Demian) happier than with this picture, she said thoughtfully. And me, too. We were waiting for you and when the painting came we knew that you were on your way It is always difficult to be born. You know the chick does not find it easy to break his way out of the shell. Think back and ask yourself: was the way all that difficult? Was it only difficult? Wasnt it beautiful too? Can you think of a more beautiful and easier way?

P. 134 I half walked, half ran from the house and the town, toward the mountains. The fine rain slanted into my face, low clouds swept by as though weighed down with fear. Near the ground there was hardly a breath of air but in the higher altitudes a storm seemed to rage. Several times the lurid sun broke briefly through the harsh rifts in the steel-gray clouds.

EXPLANATION:
Emils painting of the heraldic bird is a turning point in his spiritual journey toward himself, his daemon. It is Demian, representing his inner self, who first notices the bird as Emils hidden potential, obscured under the paint at his home. The sharp, childhood contrast between the world of light and the world of darkness of his home is represented by the egg, which takes the shape of the world. To be born Emil must break with his simplistic past, and struggle to find his true self, and be led to the source, Abraxas, and later Frau Eva. Demian, in a dream, bids him to eat the coat of arms, to free the bird he must take it inside of him. He must break free from the world of black and white into a rich vision filled with an entire spectrum of color, of ideas and philosophies. When he does break free of the world, he sees that light and darkness can intertwine into something beautiful in his new vision. When he sees the bird again just before the world war, it signifies that all of humanity is preparing to break from their shells and join the new age.

Well, it was this or write a full-blown essay on it. I picked the picture XD. Yay Mr. Feld!

I tried out some new photoshop tricks on this one, namely unsharp mask, channel selections, transparency lock, spherize, made my own brush and probably something Im forgetting. Im quite pleased with the result.

ABOUT THIS WORK

WOW this one popped out of my head some time ago now, there were so many changes made, and IN THE BUG you can see the skribble lines which were instantly perfect for that spot and fitting awesomely.

I like steam punk, robots and also some sort of Victorian style on my paintings, so I figure out I would mix everything up and this is what came up, I love it, I like this style, is like something I am finding myself doing a lot in these days and I think it will be the new road that I'll take for a while. This one took a while to be done, mainly because I had to do it all together with my first commission work that is also finished, but it was all in all a very nice experience to come up with this.

Inktopus has spent many years patiently awaiting the day he could rise. That time is now. Any who travel on water should fear the otcopus demon which feeds off the ink that now rains into the ocean. Everyday he grows stronger and bigger, now big enough to take down 3 oil tankers all at once.

I really had a lot of fun designing this shirt. Mainly because I love how cool octopus are! Inktopus and the ship would be printed using textured ink, with everything else being in soft ink.

Hope you like him as much as I do!

Drew this a while ago actually. A while as in like a month ago. First thing I did at the end of the school year. I was done with my finals early so I spent the last two days (before I had to pack) doing this.

I'm pretty sure it was raining then too. Listened to a lot of calm music. It was so nice. Also wanted to practice my painting style again.

I haven't used ball point pen in so long omg ;_; <-- random, I didn't use ball point pen in this picture.

I feel like I haven't really improved as far as technique goes. -slaps self- The colours are annoying me. -twitch-

I drew a couple of pages but am reluctant to upload them because I'm still debating over some parts of the plot and introduction of characters.

Should I draw out a seperate "comic" for the past of the main characters? when I say "comic" I actually mean ...storybook I guess because wow my comic panels look storybook-ish.

Can anyone recommend me some good short sad stories I can find online? XD I need to read more short stories/fairy tales! -still has to read scarlet letter-

I just really like drawing drips and swirls I guess, I don't know what else to say... Oh except that you can never get bored of staring at raindrops trickle down a windowpane, it's kind of mesmerizing...

Haha this was done a while back when I needed some MAJOR stress relief from studying for finals, it was just very therapeutic to shade in that large amorphous blob at the background.. and coloring was a whole chunk of fun too, so I'm happy with how this piece turned out just because I really enjoyed the process of making it
