I drew this very quickly when the internet was down. I added the background about 5 minutes ago so it would look nicer on dA. There really is no way around those awkward, spikey curls...

I know the middle jewel on her crown is supposed to be red/pink. I changed the crown to a tiara (yes, there's a difference) and it looked better with just one jewel in the center. I thought it would make more sense if all of her jewelry matched, so please don't give me any technical mumbo jumbo about it. Enjoy.

If Zelda were a Disney princess...

I'd imagine her to look something like this! This was done rather quickly when I was without internet for a brief time, so not much thought or effort went into her design. Her face kind of bothers me.

Her design is mostly based off of her Ocarina of Time and Super Smash Bros. Melee appearances. Seems to be the more "classic" Zelda design in my opinion.

anyway! i was super bored, so i decided to make 'modern' Disney princesses. i didn't do all of them, i got bored with this, too.

i even started imagining that they were in high school and what stereotypes they would have. so here they all are, names AND stereotypes.

Pokemon Princesses

The official Disney princesses from Disney's "Disney Princesses" franchise in Pokemon style. I tried to emulate Sugimori's style, but it didn't exactly work... The tutorials I could find had contradicting instructions, such as "draw outlines with the line tool" "pick a pencil like brush for outlines" "shade with smugde" "shade with a soft brush" etc. I didn't really understand them so I shaded with just lower flow on the brush.

More thoughts on them here, in "drawings".

F.A.Q.

Q: Will you draw ____?
A: I don't know. I'm glad I managed to finish eight of them, isn't that enough for now?
Q: Where is Jasmine/Pocahontas/Kida/whatever?
A: I thought Jasmine and Pocahontas weren't a part of the lineup so I didn't draw them, but I have now been corrected. Other characters are missing because I don't have the time to draw every possible Disney female.
Q: Mulan is not a princess!
A: I know, I've seen the movie. But she's a part of the official princess lineup and if I had left her out people would start asking where she is.

Snow White, from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Used the round Skyla style eyes, which was a mistake. I wanted to use the stripes on the poofy sleeves somehow, but it made the design too busy so I thought it was better to leave them out.
Cinderella
Not really liking the design, but I find the drawing the most Sugimori style looking. A bit silly how she has such sturdy trainers when the delicate glass slippers were a central part of her story, but it's not like a Pokemon trainer could go around in those. The shirt tied at her waist was blatantly copied from Candice.
Aurora, from Sleeping Beauty
This might be my least favourite, the design has too much going on and it doesn't really stay together. Also I think her blue dress looks way much better than the pink one, but I picked the pink thing anyway since Belle and Cinderella already had a blue colourscheme.
Belle, from Beauty and the Beast
This is probably the only one of these I fully like... Using the blue/white outfit instead of the yellow ball gown thing, I think it looks a million times prettier.
Ariel, from the Little Mermaid
One bandana = good. More than one = not so good any more. What was I thinking? Tried to make this one resemble something you could wear on a hot beach.
Mulan
She's my favourite Disney princess but the pokegirl outfit turned out pretty bland. On the other hand her outfit had so many colours that it was tough keeping the design from getting too busy.
Tiana, from the Princess and the Frog
Another outfit that has a lot of stuff going on and very little of it has much sense. And I'm still unsure about the curls hanging from the bag; pokemon style shouldn't have that thin lace. But I really wanted to make use of the plant thing on her waist from the lilypad dress, and that was the only thing I could think of.
Rapunzel, from Tangled
This is my second favourite after Belle even if the outfit looks neither too pokemon-like nor resembles Rapunzel's outfit... I sketched the rough draft of the dress design and it looked so nice that I wanted to use it even if it had very little in common with Rapunzel's dress, and in the end the only thing I could do to make it a bit more recognisable was the colours. Also tried to use the stripes from her sleeves for the thights.

Real Disney Character Faces

These are what Disney characters would look like if they were real. Lots of references (see if you can spot some famous features). Lots of manipulations and perfecting until I got the right features and made them real enough looking.

If some don't look exactly like the characters, well cut me some slack, there's not a lot of people out there that look like some of the more ridiculously proportioned Disney characters (Hercules, Cruella, villains etc). Also, I made them as realistic as possible. See if you can guess who is who...

I'll try to make Disney/Pixar characters in young and stylish concepts, some kind of "students", something like the new Pixar's Movie: Monster University.

Aurora is a design student who loves fashion and sleep (XD)
One of her best friends is Charlotte La Bouff and she usually try all Aurora's costumes.
When she was young her family forced her dress like a smart and sweet princess but actually, she prefer something more urban and sassy. Say goodbye to pink and blue XD

Here is another images from our "Princess Academy" project. This storyboard frame is one of my favourites as it challenged me to draw outside of my comfort zone. Plus, it was a pleasure drawing Madame Adelaide - a character usually forgotten by Disney and it's fans. Even though it is only a storyboard frame it was my goal to try and keep the characters on model and as recognisable as possible out respect to their original designers and animators.

Disney Fighter - Tiana

Another to the list. Latest Disney fighter is Tiana from Princess and the Frog, who altered back story is now she's a military soldier who's entered the fighting tournament to prove she is capable of commanding her own unit. This was the trickiest of the characters so far mostly due to her original dress colour (light green and pale yellow, eeck). Went through 3 alteration and character designs before settling on this military look. About 10-11 hours on this one including all the revisions. Done in Painter.

EDIT: I feel as if I need to address the issue of giving this character a gun. Some people seem to be getting bent out of shape simply because I gave an African American girl a hand gun. For starters, I'm Australian, I generally don't know what constitutes racial stereotypes in the US, second I wanted a military character and given Tiana's main colour scheme consisted of green I naturally used her, the colour of her skin didn't even cross my mind. Lastly, people need to relax, how about you just look at her as some kick arse military girl?

Kalini is a villager girl that dreamt becoming a doctor, she helped old people, however her village is an male dominance which means all men against women becoming a doctor due cultural issue. She is one first girl in the village, that never give up so easily, she has her family support. The dream of her might come true. She soon fell in love with a doctor happen to be Prince in disguise (because of his father's rejected him as doctor). Kalini is only one that can change the law!

She will be first Hindu Princess and first princess ethnic to Punjabi!

Disney's Princess Academy - Concept Art 02

In "Disney's Princess Academy", director/writer Olivier Ciappa and I wanted to create something that would bring back the somewhat lost respect for hand drawn animation as an art form. By doing so, we decided that the entire look and feel of the short movie will be inspired by the worlds greatest works of art.

At the Academy building, not only the 'princess' would have a place, but all of Disney's leading female characters. The building itself was to be a gigantic complex, with a feeling of an ancient palace with fountains, gardens, paintings and statues.

This concept art is one of many work that was conceived by us for the interior design of the Academy.

This project was all about representing each princess with a certain era, some vintage, others retro. I picked the era according to my judgement so it's totally random.

I know that some are missing, but I decided to work on 10 of the most popular princesses which is why the other Disney girls aren't included. (It would have taken me a lot longer as well *cough*)

SO for Christmas, I decided to make a lunchbox for my niece. Well, came up with this design, because I heard she really liked the Disney Princesses. Kinda rushed the image, because the XMAS gift needed to be shipped out TODAY if it was going to make it to her before her family leaves for vacation, so the composition could have been better, the lines cleaner, etc...

Might as well submit it as a deviation now that it's all done.

don't get me wrong, i LOVE the Disney princesses (and all the other females from varying social statuses), but you have to admit, some of the premises upon which the love at first sight relationships are built on could be shattered by the slightest whisper. that being said, i love the princes (and other assorted male leads) too.

I normally don't do collages with the Heroine fan-art maker, but I just couldn't pass this up .

As we all know, a lot of older fairy-tales ended up w/ the princess marrying the prince & living happily ever after. This includes several Disney Princesses, though we don't have the luxury of seeing them all get married to their true loves :/.

These are images of all my fave Disney heroines at their best for walking down the aisle, though most of them are just me using my imagination . They're in alphabetical order.

Ladies such as Ariel, Cinderella, Jasmine, Rapunzel, & Tiana were easy b/c you actually do see them get married onscreen. Some ladies such as Aurora & Megara were just in white versions of their iconic costumes.

Note: I only included Megara b/c I had 19 dolls & didn't want a hole in the collage. I would like her a lot better if I could find pictures of her w/ out ol' fire-head included .

As for the other ladies, these other dresses are based on the world they live in, as well as the culture & what would have been most likely for them to wear.

Some of these ladies have 2 wedding dresses, like Tiana, b/c she got married twice in "Princess & the Frog." Rapunzel's shown twice b/c in the little short film of her wedding she still has short brown hair, but the wedding doll of her still has the long, golden locks. Merida has 2 dresses b/c I couldn't decide b/w blue & white & I thought both looked gorgeous. Finally, Giselle has 2 b/c 1 of the dresses nvr made it to any wedding, while the other was something I thought she would wear when eventually marrying Robert .

The explanations behind these girls is extensive, so I'll probably post each 1 individually to elaborate.

Meh design for a meh character. I like the skirt, but everything else was just throwing around random stuff for the purpose of having the character complete the lineup.

My favourite design out of these. I seriously thought whether the hair ribbons were too much, but I decided to use them because a) it's not like she was a particular tomboy, wearing pants was more like a cultural thing, and b) I didn't want to give her huge earrings because I thought they wouldn't suit a young pokemon trainer, but I wanted to use their shape somehow.
Pocahontas
Not happy with this one. I alternated between pants and skirt, but the skirt made it look too much like a copy of her original dress and not a new design. The bandanna on her head was a necessity to hide the fact that her hair turned out horrible when I drew it.

Mmmh... a bit too busy a design. I thought if I should give her only one sock or arm... warmer... thing for she only has jewellery in one arm and leg, but pokemon characters tend to be pretty symmetric and she already had a lot of asymmetry going on. Not exactly happy with how the skirt turned out; the original design would have given opportunities for a more interesting design but I couldn't work it into something that'd suit a pokemon trainer.

Okay, the hat has nothing to do with the character, but all the player characters have hats so I wanted to give her one. I like how the design, pose and art turned out, even if it might not remind the character that much.

Same as with Giselle, I like the design even if the character wasn't that recognisable. I'm still thinking that I should have used another hairstyle of hers though; the one that went with the pink ballgown is a bit stupid.

Pokemon Princesses 3

Third part of the Disney (or not so Disney) princesses as pokemon trainers. More thoughts on them here, in "drawings".

And now for the non-Disney princesses. I wanted to draw Anastasia as far back as the first pokeprincess picture, but reading through comments of fanart involving both Anastasia and Disney princesses has taught me that tons of people just have to tell the artist how Anastasia isn't Disney regardless of how clearly the author tells that they already know it in the artist's comments. So I thought it'd be better to have the non-disney princesses in their own picture.

I don't intend to draw any more princesses so I'd appreciate it if you could refrain from pointing out how ____ is a princess too; I'm not interested in drawing her.

Not too creative with this one, it's practically the exact same outfit as the original with just a shorter skirt.

My favourite out of these, the outfit practically created itself. I wish the others had been as easy... Maybe it's still a bit boring?
Anastasia (Fox Animation Studies)
She was difficult because the character didn't really have an iconic and easily recognisable dress. The only exciting part of the dress were the huge see-through sleeves, which were something I couldn't use too well for an adventurous pokemon trainer.
Fiona, from Shrek (Dreamworks)
Not exactly liking this. Fiona's most defining visual charactersistic was naturally that she's a green ogre, but I couldn't use it. But what about her dress? It's green. and... yeah. What am I supposed to do with that? So the shirt turned out pretty boring. Tried to use the same ribbons Caitlin has for the "ears".

The dress she has in the promotional pictures had so little detail that I had no idea what I should do. The only fun part was the sleeves, but for some reason I used wrist band things instead. I wonder how she'll be able to put that little hood over her huge hair anyway.

Walt Disney inspired me as a kid and still today I get comments from people saying "that looks to Disney" I guess to some that might be a bad thing, but to me it's a compliment. I know I know, "WTF??", right?

Well, here's the deal. I've been in a real Disney mood lately; that includes the movies and music. My all time fav Disney movie is Beauty and the Beast. So I was thinking... what would I look like in Disney form? Well duh! It's Disney and I'm a girl! So I had to be in "princess" form. I'm also going to draw a "normal" form; you know, the form before becoming a princess? Yeah, that one.

Hey! My dress is not that "princessie" so dun laugh! >.< Besides, i look like I could kick butt in that dress!

Btw, drawing Disney style sux! @__@ Plus inking it like Disney style was tedious and a pain. But I'm glad it paid off.

<3 I chose these girls in particular because they are the ones that I love the most.
I would call them the Dead Princesses, but they're not all princesses, so Dead Disney, rather.

Almost every macabre drawing I've seen of Disney women has them being 'undead' or 'beaten up'.
Vicious women made stronger by their suffering, hell bent on revenge... Women scorned, blah blah blah.

You've heard it a million times before. I have too.

That's why I decided that I wanted to break them. Instead of empowering them, I wanted them to be completely and irrevocably dead. So I did.

The eight princesses is a project of the matter "Playful."
The goal was to set up a book or an object pre book for children 2 to 6 or 7 to 11 years.
We chose to do a book aimed at children aged 7 to 11 in order to pass teachings as: inclusion and social acceptance while the child plays with the product.

Seven princesses representing virtually all ethnic groups: blonde, brunette, redhead, India, Eastern black. And each has a characteristic that marks its history as: courage, effort, daring, adventurous, passionate, organized and determined. Due to these approaches, the end of the book there are two areas targeted to the consumer, encouraging one for her to write her own story talking about what more features, and elsewhere to illustrate it with pictures or make collages, noting that the eighth Princess it would be.

This girl was a pain in the butt!

In case you didn't notice, or do not know about, the outfit I chose to do instead of her traditional outfit is the she wears in the Disney Designer dolls series. I figured it would look better in the style and be more fun to do... although, I went with her helmet/horns instead of the Designer Doll's hair. o.o
And if you don't know what the Disney Designer dolls are, their fancy and expensive dolls that are quite pretty. ^.^ I want one but my wallet, she is empty.

This took me most of the day working to finish, so I hope it is true to the style. <3
