We finally got to getting Prince Gumball's actual outfit done for Acen.
My friend Paula was a HUGE help in actually making the costume. I just darkened the colour of my wig, made the jewellery, and gave her the instructions. :> She's such a talented sweetie.

Her fiancee, John was the photographer too.
This photoshoot was in the bathroom of the ball room at the Rosemont. It was super fancy. u vu

The composition looks really weird etc, but honestly I was just practicing those grey scale to colour pictures people do. Used the gradient map and colour balance and colour layers etc. I think it gives it quite a different look ...meh

So finally,

I have a decent ref sheet I am completely pleased with (well, mostly pleased anyways.) I'm sure there will a time when I feel like updating in the year after. I felt that the last reference I made was a little too vague, while it did capture some personality it lacked in actual body and clothes.

Now when I look at ref sheets, I always look for clarity. It doesn't need to be outrageously fancy, although I have seen some that look very nice. Mine is just basic, and hopefully gives you the right idea on how he is supposed to look. The outfit, btw has been his outfit for the last year nearly; I'm thinking this is the outfit I'm sticking with after several trial and errors over the years... minus seasonal wear which is usually a jacket or pants instead of shorts. He does wear sandals, although I haven't drawn any here. Darn... I knew I forgot something!

The neck is meant to be really fluffy, I was also thinking on maybe adding a drawing sometime where he's wet, and how the fur is mostly fluff. He doesn't have nipples, I repeat he does not need nipples if you draw him shirtless xD All that chest fluff covers everything!

Hmm, I guess that's it. I've been picking at this on and off since March so it definitely took a lot of thinking to get it this way. Thanks for viewing, and if any of you feel like drawing him be my guest, you don't need to ask! I love the gifts I've gotten from you guys, it makes me smile. c: (so thanks for that)

This is Artemis, *Chuuchichu's beautiful ice bird boy! I had been wanting to spam patterns and details for a while, and found the perfect opportunity. I really wanted to spam 10x more details (jewelry, more patterns, etc etc) but my damaged shoulder can only handle so much.

Commissioned artwork; no critiques please. I don't want the flaws spelled out in front of my client ;~;

I'm happy with:
~the overall values and color scheme. Usually I have to do a lot of color and value/contrast tweaking before I'm even reasonably satisfied. With this picture, there was almost none of that.

I'm okay with:
~all the leeway I gave myself with the lighting. A careful observer will notice quite a few places where the lighting behaves differently than it would IRL. I'm fine with that, as the overall piece feels right to me.

Yes, his hair and wings have a color gradient to them. Aren't they pretty

Rushed refurbishment for . Got to experience trimming, foam shaping, and airbrushing southpaw style for the first time ever There are some flaws, but overall the vision is larger and the ventilation is immensely improved. Far left is the original head, the rest are quick shots of him before I rushed out to catch the mail truck at the post office.

What was done:
~Back of head and throat split to enlarge
~Old ears removed entirely
~Lower jaw and muzzle fur stripped
~Eyes removed
~Muzzle and lower jaw foamed up and refurred
~New nose (by )
~New toon eyes
~Opened the mouth, lined the inside of the muzzle, added teeth and a tongue
~Trimmed the rest of the head more evenly
~Added cleaner eye brows
~Cleaned up any edges and seams
~Enlarged the throat and hood
~New ears (flexi-form ears )
~Airbrushed to blend

The base was a very solid foam on balaclava base, heavily glued. The eye sockets I lined after trying to even them up a tad so the wearer wasn't rubbing against raw foam/glue. We opened up his muzzle immediately and got good airflow going. With removing the muzzle fur to work on the foam beneath, realized a new nose was needed. I happened to have a medium DVC toon nose that made the head very boop-able <3

There are still flaws but overall both the commissioner and I are happy for a rushed job. He's to be worn at an upcoming con next week
