Twisted Princess: Mulan

Here's my latest princess. She's my new favorite. I hope you guys like her.

The story behind her design is the Huns destroy Mulan's village, killing everyone...including her. Her ancestors send Mushu to retrieve the spirits of their fallen family. Upon collecting Mulan's spirit, she begs Mushu to restore her spirit to her body so she can defeat the Huns and avenge the death of her family. Mushu does so, but in order to bring her back to life, he must fuse his body with hers. When he does, he becomes a living tatoo on her body, his appearance altered by Mulan's rage and hatred for the Huns.

So Mulan is essentially a zombie fueled by revenge hahaha.

In my opinion, the saddest part of the movie wasn't when he lay dying in the rain, but when his awesome visage was DESTROYED and replaced with that of a hideous man-thing.

Anyhow, I just watched the 1991 Disney film on my laptop recently, so I thought to do this. My other idea was to have her throw herself from the balcony in despair, but I think I rather like the knife better.

If any of you are confused by the title, it may help if you read it as "[She's a] Beauty and a Beast."

Various Disney characters dressed up as the Sailor Moon cast. I made the sketch ages ago and finally got around to finish it.

FAQ:
Wah, I've just been wading through a pile of comments! I'm sorry I can't answer each one individually.

Q: Where is Sailor Saturn?
A: I took what I thought was a well-known Sailor Moon illustration and just peopled it with Disney characters. Saturn wasn't in the original pic, so no hard feelings. If I make another one I will be sure to include her.

Q: Why isn't SnowWhite Mercury instead of Mulan?
A: Because as far as I'm concerned SnowWhite would be Saturn. Why? Because she is younger/more fragile, more closely linked with DEATH and being the first princess brings her some epic ending/beginning quality that seems to me suitable for Saturn. On the argument of hairdo I agree though.

Where is Cinderella?
This is not a Disney princess pic, just the Disney characters I thought were most suitable. Again, no hard feelings.

Why isn't Cinderella Uranus?
Why should she be? Except for being blonde. Not everyone knows apparently, but Neptune and Uranus have a special relationship. Since Esmeralda is Neptune, it would only make sense to have them at least come from the same universe: HoND = Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Who is Madellaine?
Quasi's love interest in HoND II. Very few of you know! Those who do apparently deserve a cookie!

You didn't credit the original artist!
Sorry, my bad! I don't think I've ever come across any decent Sailor Moon art gallery that didn't have this pic, so I thought it would be familiar to everybody. I don't know who the original artist is, my guess is that it's someone at Toei animation. If you somehow never saw the original, just type in "Sailor Moon group" or something in Google images.

Twisted Princess: Pocahontas

Here's my latest Twisted Princess! This is what Pocahontas would become if John Smith was killed by Governor Ratcliffe. In a fit of rage , she kills the Governor to avenge John, but she isn't satisfied. So she goes on a killing spree, ending the life of any and all settlers but it doesn't fix her broken heart. I really like this picture. These are definitely getting a lot darker. Hope you guys like.

Oh yeah, I should probably explain why I gave her armor. Well, in the movie when the settlers are gearing up to fight Pocahontas's tribe, Governor Ratcliffe actually puts on a full suit of black armor. In my version, after Pocahontas kills the Governor she takes his armor...so yeah...I'm still up in the air on it but it looks cool.

...also, I thought I would mention that Pocahontas used Flit the hummingbird's feathers to decorate her spear and belt. It's kind of hard to tell with the lighting.

ah....after that Toph picture i couldnt help myself xD
the ideas just kept coming o___o
so i applied some of the main avatar charries with some form of extreme sport

soo:

-Aang is a parkour....or free-runner...i didnt really want to go with sky-diving seeing as its very specific...and looking at his movements i felt free-running would fit better.
-Katara is a surfer...it was a stretch for me....seeing as she doesnt fit me as the surfing type...but at the same time Katara can be pretty bad ass o__O
-Sokka is...well..Sokka...he LOOKS like a surfer...but he cant...cause he's Sokka...and everyone loves him xD
-Toph is a skate-boarder...the grinding (lol metal-bending) and the stomping really did it for me....not to mention the hard-core..ness
-Zuko took a while....i considered motorcyling...but i wanted to keep it away from anything non-transportable...so i talked to rogue and she said agressive inline skating. the sparks and acrobatic movement seemed to fit fire-bending.

Twisted Princess: Alice

FINALLY!!! My newest princess is done! Well, technically she's not a princess (unless you count being a Princess of Heart in Kingdom Hearts) but I promised my friend that I would eventually draw her...and I kept my promise!

So the story behind my Alice is after she's declared guilty, the Queen of Hearts and her army proceed to chase Alice through Wonderland. Unfortunately, Alice trips and hurts her leg, allowing them enough time to catch up to her. Alice is then dragged away by the Queen's soldiers. All of this is being watched by the Cheshire Cat who's hiding in the shadows. Alice is taken to the center of the Queen's garden maze where all the bodies of the many victims of the tyrannical Queen are discarded. And like all of the Queen's victims, Alice is beheaded and left in the center of the maze to rot. Unknown to the Queen, the Cheshire Cat followed her to the center of the maze and witnessed the tragic execution of the young girl. Once the Queen and her army has left, the Cheshire Cat appears. He feels extremely guilty for the death of this little girl...but that feeling soon passes, for the Cheshire Cat now had himself a new toy...a new body to posses...a new puppet to carry out his twisted motives. Wonderland WILL be his!

And that's pretty much it hahaha. I felt really disturbed by this story hahaha. Well, I hope you guys like it!

Out of the Water

I grew up on Disney movies, the princess movies have a special place in the ultra-girly area of my heart. When Disney recently started releasing their classics on DVD I was attempting to collect them, whenever a new one came out it was so exciting as I hadn't seen these movies in years. The only copies I had were half-malfunctioning VHS tapes. The little Mermaid has always been one of my top favorites (possibly because I've always secretly wanted to BE a mermaid haha) and when it was rereleased I had to paint something. So here is my tribute and gift to everyone who worked on that film - Thank you!

I've had to be patient, since I wanted this to look just right. But believe me, I've been very eager during the whole process to see this end result.

What started out as a simple drawing grew a lot more complex, especially after the sudden popularity of the original. So I decided to add some more characters and arrange it with the intent of making prints. I've still got to drive over to the printers sometime to make sure, but I'm confident that it will go smoothly. When I'm positive I'll be sure to let you all know, so you can purchase 11x17" prints of this. And of course they won't have the watermarks.

Most of these characters I'm sure you'll recognize, but I'll go down the list and attribute each one to their respective fast food chain. Also, I figured it might be special to include a few thoughts I had while creating each of them.

Going from top to bottom, left to right:

Jack In The Box
After seeing those commercials with the bus collision that results in Jack's temporary coma, specifically the amateur report that reveals the accident was a hit job involving "The King" and "R. McD.", it seemed very appropriate. Not to mention this is the second time he's had facial reconstructive surgery, according to the commercials, after certain company board members had tried to dispose of him earlier. So leaving the scars seemed like a good touch.

McDonald's
Right off I knew to be careful not to make Ron McDonald look like a rip-off of Dark Knight's Joker. Still, comparisons have and will be made, but that can't be helped. After all, they both wear suits and clown makeup. Actually, I tried to go a very different direction with Ronald and his crew. I kept thinking how =lazymills1986 might design them. (She's an awesome artist, for those who don't know. Check her out.)

Burger King
Felt like a cross between Colombian drug lord and robber baron with his design. If B.K. had a voice, he'd sound like Señor Esteban Vihaio from Kill Bill 2. However, B.K. is not a pimp. Just making that known.

Wendy's
Went for a more Victorian aristocrat feel in her design, but with a touch of Southern belle.

Kentucky Fried Chicken
"The Colonel" was the easiest. Didn't do anything to him, save for changing his suit gray and adding pinstripes.

Papa John's Pizza
Like "the Colonel", there wasn't much to do with "Papa" John. Honestly, having a real person to model them after takes the fun out of the creative process.

Little Caesars
Sort of looks like Clemenza from Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather, doesn't he? I didn't really see it 'til now. That was probably subconscious, since I'm a die hard Godfather fan.

Taco Bell
Okay, yes, the resemblance here was definitely intentional. Think Tony Montana, but with a Napoleon complex. The nickname comes from a combination of his short stature and the fact that he twitches constantly, since he's a user. Yes friends, he's a junk food junkie. As Frank Lopez says, "Rule number two: don't get high on your own supply."

Panda Express
This was fun to do, since all I had to go on was the panda in their logo. If you're curious about the front of her dress, it's part of a traditional Chinese (or traditional Chinese-style, at least) painting I found depicting a family, I'm assuming, of pandas amongst some vegetation. You catch just part of a tree, here.

Sonic's Drive-in
Alright, now Troy "the Trojan" here is your legitimate pimp in the group. I didn't want to make it particularly obvious, since he's not your cheap street hustler. He's a man among the top of the flesh peddling hierarchy. And yes, the nickname has a few meanings behind it. Also, =Arada was pushing for a presence for Sonic's because of the girl carhops. She asked for some "roller hoes", so she got it. Sonic's apparently had an advertisement character called Katie the carhop, but I'm buggered on where to find any actual pictures or footage of her.

Quiznos
Remember those Quizno commercials with the talking baby, Bob? Just took him and made him up like George Nelson. I still can't help thinking of the latter in O Brother, Where Art Thou? He's so bipolar in that movie, but that's what makes him memorable.

Subway
Jared Fogle made this one interesting, since it presented me with the opportunity of doing a thin and thick version of the character as twin brothers. Reminded me a little bit of Laurel and Hardy. Also, note that the thin brother is wearing suspenders while the other is not.

Dairy Queen
When you see those red lips on the DQ commercials, and if you've seen The Rocky Horror Picture Show, your mind can't help jumping to that. =Arada had a big part in this character's creation, since she was the one who introduced me to the film in the first place. The makeup was modeled to be like Tim Curry's. I'm not into the drag queen scene myself, but that dude makes it work somehow. And I suppose watching plenty of Monty Python skits, too.

I know it's not exactly "HA HA" funny, but everytime I read the Harry Potter books I can't help but think that they wouldn't need to spend so much time in the school library or investigating around if they had a nice laptop, an internet hook-up and access to a wizarding database lol!
Then again, if they could solve all the mysteries by Googling them, the books would be boring as hell. Hence the comic

Other good moments I could've drawn (but was too lazy to): in GoF a way to pass the first and second tasks (especially the second, they went mad looking for that shit!), in HBP they could've Googled Eileen Prince's ass and discovered she was Snape's mom...

By the way, I DO know that electronics go hay-wire around magic, especially with the amount of it there is at Hogwarts. This is just a comic, it's not meant to be accurate

She asked us to show her favorite character, Toph from Avatar, around the age of twenty. Toph is blind and uses her feet to see by sensing vibrations in the earth, so we chose a serene environment, maybe strolling away from people for a second, to where she feels safe enough to put her feet in the water, effectively blinding her. It was a real pleasure to work for her!

YOU GUYS GET TO HAVE THIS COMIC EARLY BECAUSE I LOVE YOU and I haven't posted a comic to DA in foreeeever.

OKAY BACKSTORY.

I have been avoiding Twilight because I trust a few friends' tastes who said they hated it and it reads like it was written by a 12-year-old fangirl with no idea of how real relationships work. I knew it was not my thing. Plus, SPARKLING VAMPIRES WHAT THE HELL.

Then I got to read a few small snippets and it is all. I. Needed. It is awful. Just awful. Absolutely terrible. Bella is annoying as hell, Edward can't pick a personality so I've decided he doesn't actually have one except "creepy stalker"... and together they make one boring couple.

I understand those who say that they REALIZE it's bad, they know the writing sucks, but it's their guilty pleasure and they couldn't stop. I get that. I have my guilty movies/shows/books, the whole nine yards.

But when people say the writing is excellent and the characters are deep and believable? No. The answer is NO.

And that is all.

I LOVE YOU GUYS K BYE NOW.

(BTW in case some of you don't know, though I think most of you do... Head Trip updates as regularly as I can work on them over here)

FINALLY!!!!! I finished Meg! Sorry to keep everyone waiting but here she is in all of her glory! I really hope you guys like her.

OK, so the story behind my design for Meg is Hercules didn't make it to her soul in time and died trying to save her. Hercules's death fulfilled Meg's contract with Hades and so Hades restored her soul to her body and freed her. Meg was shattered at the loss of her true love and would do anything to get him back (which I know got her into her initial dealings with Hades to begin with ). But she knew Hercules was different and that he would be true to her no matter what. The Fates saw the situation that Meg was in and offered her a deal. If Meg agreed to become the Keeper of the Eye, then they would restore life to Hercules. Meg accepted without hesitation. The eye of fate was then sewn into her head and she became their slave. Almost immediately, life was restored to Hercules. However, he came back as an animated corpse without a soul. But even without a soul, his undying love for Meg still shined through his undead shell and he remained by her side for eternity. The Fates did tell Meg that there WAS a way to restore his soul, but the only person that could do it was Hades....

Dun dun dun, I wonder what she'll do to get Hercules's soul back from Hades...CLIFFHANGER! hahaha

It started very seriously, as a practice for poses...then Toph came in, and then slowly everything turned into a Calvin and Hobbes moment.

I don't control these characters. They remind me any chance they get.
And no, I don't draw Toph's eyes. It just happens that way. If I do a close up of her face, then I will.

Finally, I finished my latest Princess picture. I wanted the princess to be a surprise so I figured I'd draw someone that no one mentioned hehe.

The story around this version of Jane is pretty simple. After Jane takes the drawing back from the baby baboon, its entire family begins to chase Jane. However, Tarzan isn't there to grab Jane when she jumps the cliff. She grabs onto the vines on the other side of the cliff wall and the baby baboon jumps on her to take the picture back. The vine breaks, and Jane and the baby baboon fall into the rushing water below which leads to an underground river. Both Jane and the baboon black out. Later, Jane awakes on the bank of a small lake deep in the jungle. The underground river apparently led her to this hidden location. She begins to inspect the area and notices the little baboon. She picks him up begins to trek through the jungle to try and find her father's camp, but in doing so, she becomes hopelessly lost. Only having each other, Jane and the baby baboon must learn to survive in this dangerous place...and they apparently do hehe

...so pretty much she becomes a female Tarzan.

ye gads, since I have no photoshop or tablet,
coloring this traditionally by hand using diluted white acrylic is like...
trying to make gourmet spam out of a raw,frozen piece of pork.
(and no, I don't know how that analogy makes any sense)

One single slip of the hand, and it would have ended up dead.

But anyway, I'm happy with it. *coughDespitethe BS'edMaleanatomycough*

Twisted Princess: Rapunzel

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, everybody!!! As promised, I present you with my new Twisted Princess, Rapunzel!!! Finally!!! After seeing the movie, I had to put my other princesses on hold since I was way too excited to do this one. I hope you all like her. She's my new favorite!

Story: When Rapunzel and Flynn return to the shore after seeing the lanterns, Flynn leaves to go give the crown back to the Stabbington Brothers so he can spend the rest of his life with Rapunzel. Unfortunately, Mother Gothel and the Stabbington Brothers had a different plan. They tie Flynn to a boat with the crown and set him out on the river in direction of the kingdom, knowing that the guards would have him executed upon finding him. The Brothers then approach Rapunzel and inform her that Flynn left with the crown and was only using her. Rapunzel sees Flynn sailing off with the crown and becomes incredibly heartbroken. While in her fragile emotional state, the Stabbington Brothers capture her and take her to Mother Gothel. Mother Gothel had convinced the twins to accompany them and in return promised them riches greater than that of Rapunzel's hair or a crown. Upon returning to the tower, Mother Gothel attempts to console Rapunzel. She asks Rapunzel to sing her hair incantation under the guise of making her feel better. As she sings, Mother Gothel informs her that what she did was for the best. And that Flynn the thief deserved his fate. This caused Rapunzel to realize that it was her mother who was behind Flynn's "sudden change of heart". Rapunzel became filled with rage and anger and suddenly, Mother Gothel began to scream. Rapunzel's hair began to suck the life from Mother Gothel's body. "You did it!" Rapunzel screamed. Mother Gothel pleaded with Rapunzel but she was too consumed by hatred for her "mother" who was responsible for disposing of her true love. Mother Gothel's body aged quickly and then turned to dust in the curls of Rapunzel's hair. The twins witnessed this and retrieved their weapons to kill Rapunzel, but it was too late. Her hair wrapped around one of them and drained the life from him. The other twin escaped the tower and ran for his life. Rapunzel pursued him in hopes of getting revenge. The remaining twin upon escaping, began to inform other thugs and ruffians of the girl with the long golden hair that can give and take life as a means of putting bodies between him and Rapunzel. However, Rapunzel could not be deterred from her revenge and the last Stabbington suffered the same fate as his brother. Anybody that got in her way suffered as she had suffered. She retained the scars of her conflicts as a reminder of her pain and as a warning to others. All who sought her hair would pay. Unbeknownst to Rapunzel, Flynn escaped his fate and returned to the tower only to find the remains of one of the Twins and Mother Gothels cloak. Flynn searched the kingdom for her unaware that she has been consumed by her rage and heartbreak. Will Flynn be able to find Rapunzel and save her from being consumed by the darkor worsedun dun dun.

I didn't realize it, but Korra's gesture could also mean rock on. LOL. This was my favorite moment in the first episode, and I watched it over and over again because it just doesn't get old. I think Bei Fong's reaction to Korra was even funnier. However, finding out that Bryan used himself as reference was priceless! Check out Bryan using himself as a reference for the animations! [link]

Here's my latest Princess, Nala. I hope you guys like it. I really like this picture a lot because it's so much different than my other princesses. And I like how hardcore Timon and Pumbaa look.

Story: Upon returning to Pride Rock, Simba confronts Scar in order to regain his kingdom. The fight between Scar and Simba takes a turn for the worse. Nala notices that Simba is in trouble and leaves the hyenas to the other lionesses. She rushes to the top of Pride Rock just in time to see Scar land the finishing blow to Simba. In a fit of rage, Nala attacks Scar viciously, ultimately throwing him off the edge of Pride Rock, avenging Simba's death. However, the hyenas have overwhelmed the other lionesses, leaving Nala as the only surviving lion in the Pride Lands. The hyenas see their chance to finally rid the land of the lions once and for all and begin to pursue Nala without hesitation. With the help of Timon and Pumbaa, the injured Nala makes her escape. The three of them continue to fight the hyenas at every chance they get in order to win back the Pride Lands while preserving the beliefs of Mufasa and Simba.

So yeah, I guess that's a believable twist to the story.

This is my own interpretation, I KNOW she's meant to be a cartoon, but I wanted to make her look a bit more real (although still cartoony)... just for fun. I know her dress is meant to be shorter By the way.... she's not bad. I've just painted her that way...

_{So I was working on and off on this after seeing the new footage and images for Avatar: Legend of Korra, and decided I wanted to finish it but didn't really know how to go about doing do. `budgie volunteered to colour it and I think it turned out amazing in the end.

SHE'S FINALLY DONE!!! Her Photoshop document was collecting digital dust but I finally got a chance to finish her! I hope you guys like her because I know I do. With every new princess I draw, it makes me want to go back and redo an older one but if I did that, I'd never finish haha.

Well anyway, the story behind my design for Kida is: As the Atlantis Discovery Team were saying their goodbyes and loading up their ship to return to the surface, Kida passed out while talking to Audrey. Milo and Dr. Sweet, as well as the rest of the crew, rush to her aid. They take her to the throne room and lay her down. Dr. Sweet proceeds to examine her but is unable to determine what could of caused her to lose consciousness. Suddenly, Kida's eyes open and glow an eerie blue light. Everyone stepped back as she rose to her feet. Her skin began to crack and peel and the eerie blue light began to radiate from the cracks. Milo ran to her but was knocked back by the energy surging from her body. He quickly retrieves the Shepherd's Journal and flips through it frantically trying to find what could possibly be happening to Kida. Milo froze in horror as he found a passage that contained the answer. The answer he wished wasn't true. Kida had been exposed to the power of the crystal for too long. The crystal was draining her of her life. And according to the journal, the crystal will continue to drain the host until there's nothing left, unless another life is sacrificed in its stead. The crew thought they contained the threat but it only subsided, taking over Kida from the inside. The crystal needed more life force and was drastically draining Kida of hers. She dropped to the ground and began coughing up blood. A couple Atlantian guards rushed to her side to assist her. As they helped her up, she threw one of the guards into the water. The other guard tried to restrain her, but she was too powerful. She turned and bit the guard and proceeded to devour his body. As she ate, the remnants of the guard's body withered and turned to dust. Kida looked at Milo and his team as they stared on in horror. She slowly picked herself up. Her eyes met Milo's and they began to glow more intensely. Milo and his team began to inch backwards as he tried to reason with her and calm her down. Kida let out a chilling growl as blood continued to drip from her mouth. They took another step back, but then Kida attacked....DUN DUN DUN!!!

Hahaha I ended on another cliffhanger. Well, I hope you guys like the story. Before I started drawing her, I always had the idea that she was going to be a cannibal of sorts. I don't know why...it just seemed cool.

I forced myself to make a head canon this week! AND THIS CAME OUT OF MY BRAIN!

Growing up, Lin never had to face the boogyman or any other mythical creatures. No, her mother always tried to scare her with the infamous Melon Lord act. This tactic usually did work in scaring her daughter in doing her chores and eating her vegetables. It was sweet for Toph.

But eventually this melon lord effect started wearing off Lin, mainly because Toph kept grabbing the wrong fruit

I wonder if I can crank out more head canons
