I tend to work with fonts almost constantly on a daily basis.
If I'm not placing, browsing or identifying fonts, I'm most likely busy reproducing, modifying or setting them up for various cutting media.
Because of all the years of staring at them, I've (with time) started seeing the unique characteristics that differentiates each typeface and on what layout and media they would work best. Because of this I've truly started to respect and love typefaces and their significance to design and as such I've become pretty adept with them, not a crazy human font-library (like some designers I've worked with), but not too bad either.

With that said, this particular piece was inspired by the 'Font Dogs' picture. For those who haven't seen it yet, it's an image that compared the physical traits of different breeds of dogs to that of different typefaces. It's an image I not only found hilarious, but also very interesting, especially the fact that the visual traits of typefaces could be applied to other things.
And that's when I thought: "Why do they only have to be applied to the physical traits of things, why not mental and personality traits as well?"
And then I figured what better cast of characters to choose from to represent the various different traits between typefaces than the very socially diverse mane 6 of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic.
The end result was the mane 6 with these chosen fonts that I feel works well at representing their individual personalities.

This was a very quick vectoring session actually. Choosing the actual fonts too way longer than the vectoring process. The minimalist image of the mane 6 is just a base pony template with the different color schemes, accessories and hairstyles added last.
Choosing the font was a bit trickier, though. I didn't want to take the easy route and just choose a tacky font that has butterflies in it and say "It's Fluttershy". Instead, every typeface here is hand picked from my personal experience with them and chosen on the basis of their visual characteristics and design aesthetics relating to the personality of each pony.

I thought it was about time that I put a "complete," version up of all the little Sonics I did for *Aerobian-Angel's Sonic's Vocal Life.

I'm actually a little embarrassed. I had planned to do a rather detailed little background for each of the characters that stood for one of the more memorable moments in each era's life span, such as Green Hill for Classic, and City Escape for Adventure Sonic, but I just never got around to it. I only got Green Hill done, and even though it came out rather nicely, this probably the last time you'll see these pics again. Probably...

Added a swanky title with fonts and junk that was made to be as accurate as possible but with some minor tweaks so it appears fresher. I hope I did it justice.

Platform One Font

Well, it isn't a font YET, I'm having technical difficulties. (See journal)
It needs a bit of tweaking, but it's essentially the font from 'The End of the World' that is used on Platform One. I couldn't find an example of the letter 'k' or 'q', so I made those up. I also have to work out what's upper case and what's lower case, since there seems to be a a few letters that are occasionally different.

The Legend of Zelda - Skyward Sword

*** (I would mention "spoilers", but seeing as how you have to see the artwork first before reading the artist's comments)

My interpretation of the world of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. I absolutely loved the game, so I wanted to create something as a "thank you" to Nintendo for it.

Everything was drawn from scratch. I could not put "everything" into this picture. Only the main events/areas/important characters /sidequests, whether it was small or major.

Some characters were drawn more than once (for example, Groose and Ghirahim) because their roles and appearances in the story change.

Despite there being four Silent Realms in the game, I only drew one of them to save some room, since each goal in each Silent Realm is exactly the same as the last one.
