This is a more spreed out view of the magical transformation picture.
I have had the idea of merging some of my favorite shows together for a long time.
Plotting out who should be what took some time. I knew I Toph as Rita since the idea first hit me, Katara as Kimberly, and Zuko as Tommy. Katara being a girly girl who at first couldn't really fight but learned to stand her own ground and Zuko being once evil and returning to redeem himself.
I also liked the idea of having Ty-Lee in the group because she's just so damn perky and Jet because he does have that cocky leader thing going.
Sokka I knew would be the brain. Then I thought I would do Haru as the final person of the group but then I thought about it and he really didn't fit the group so. New line up with the original core group as:
Suki as the Leader (The Jason of the Group)
Jet as the second in command (the Zack)
Katara the stereotypical female of the group (the Kimberly)
Sokka as the idea man and brains of the bunch (the Billy)
TyLee the elegant fighter (the Trini)
Zuko the new kid who started off being evil (the Tommy)
Toph as the evil queen that loves to boisterously laugh and never really has a plan of attack (The Rita)
Long Feng the henchman that dreams of bigger things and doesn't mind double crossing the person he swore allegiance to. (the Goldar)
Jun the bountyhunter that doesn't mind getting her hands dirty if the price is right (the Scorpina)
The Dai-li mindless drones that do whatever their master bids them to do (the Putties)
Iroh the wise sage that knows more then he lets on (the Zordon)
Kyoshi the upgraded powerhouse (the Mega-Dragonzord) Because you know she could kick ass and chew bubblegum
For what I thought up but didn't add to the picture because it was getting too crowded
Aang as the link to all elements (the Megazord)
Appa the added muscle (Titanus the ultra-zord)
Ji the assistant (the Alpha 5)
The Inventor builder of machines (the Finster)

As for the colors and animals
Suki: Green Tigerdillo with the duel metal fans as the weapon of choice
Jet: Yellow woolymandrill with the hookswords as his weapon of choice
Katara: Blue ice phoenix with the duel whips as her weapon of choice
Sokka: Black Wolfbat and the club and boomerang as his weapons of choice
TyLee: the pince Pygmypuma with brace knuckles as her weapon of choice.
Zuko: the Red dragon with the twin dao blades as his weapon of choice.
You really do not want to know how long I spent poring through the avatar animal databases to chose the animals for each ranger.

EDIT: No one has mentioned it, but I really don't feel like I did Claret's lovely fuller figure justice here at all. I slimmed her down and that bothers me looking back at this... So yeah. I'd love to edit this if it was digital, but it's not, so I just have to be unhappy with it and learn.

I got my Teahouse special editions in the mail this week. I tore that envelope out of the postman's hands like a Jackrustle puppy with ADHD before he'd even gotten it halfway through my letterbox.

So for those of you that aren't Tea drinkers, this is Claret. She works at the Teahouse brothel and is the lowest earning courtesan there, although goodness knows why, because she's just the sweetest darling.

Chiaroscurochiaroscurochiaroscurochiaroscuro. Nomnom. Black marker and glorious red marker working in happy, happy union with me thinking about East Germany behind the Berlin Wall. Yes indeed, the scarf is a symbol, both in colour and what it is, of Russia's occupation. That thing was amazing.

I thought about applying lyrics to it, but realised I wanted to leave it open as to the overall interpretation. Gilbert, you tragic bastard. ;____;

Felt like trying a 'screencap' type pic.

Yep, it's Zeno, talking to someone he's not too pleased with. This pic is from a scene far in the future (as in post-Chains of the Past).

Who is he giving an evil look to? Not saying exactly, but it is someone from his past that he's known for quite a long time.

10th Drawing Posted in EqD's 607th Drawfriend

This thursday's drawing, I haven't drawn Rarity (or Applejack or Spike) all that much yet, so I thought it was best I give 'em some more attention!

Edit - Trying out a signature.

Edit - . . . Oh snap I forgot the highlights in the mane/tail . . . ! Uh shoot oh well.

Applied that filter I used in last Thursday's drawing and I also used a dutch-angle and letterboxing as well. Might notice some variations to how I draw the iris of the eyes in the last few drawings, it's kinda because I didn't bother to look back and remember how I did them or anything.

Btw, since my 'Thursday Drawing' is done from start to finish on the day, I actually rushed the line-work here. It went alright, the mistakes here and there aren't really noticeable but just something I wanted to point out.

Still in a Friendship is Magic mood, of course. I needed to draw something, and who else but Equestria's most famous mailpony? Nothing will stop her getting her deliveries through. Not snow, storms nor gale. You can always rely on Derpy Hooves to get the job done.

Aside from her eyes, I always see Derpy as a perfectly normal pony. She can speak coherently, she doesn't try to deliver muffins and eat letters, and she is more than capable of caring for her daughter, Dinky.

I really tried to emulate the look of the show here. My usual solid black lines (line tool) are replaced with thick coloured ones (drawn with the line tool, filled in, then black lines removed). I think I did a good job, too.

The logo on her mailbag refers to Royal Mail letterbox logos having the initials of the Monarch on them - [link] In this case, the C stands for Princess Celestia, with the R standing for 'Royal'. At least I think that's what it's meant to be...

Pkmn Wallpaper - Dratini line

After making my mac wallpaper I decided that I wanted to make one that people could enjoy on their own computers. So I resized it to fit on a standard screen and added a 'letterbox' style border as it didn't fit well. I hope people enjoy it as much I enjoyed making it.

I'm thinking of making a series of these - I already have a rough sketch of a scene with the Charmander evolution line, and I'm thinking of doing a scene with the Legendary Cats Suicune, Entei and Raikou, but if anyone has suggestions of three pokemon they'd like to see then I'm sure I can find time to do one.

Kept changing my mind during this one and it took forever because i had to do it between work. Tried to give the letterbox feel and make it look like a screen cap from a film. dunno if it actually worked out and don't have time to figure it out.

Tito is so much fun to draw. Banzai is not.

Tito and Banzai were both voiced by the supremely talent Cheech Marin, thus Tito's imperative subtitle turns into a declarative fact.
I had fun with the neon lettering. Another tribute to Cheech, this time from Desparado. Not his character's bar, but .. yeah. gave the freehand pen tool a try this time. lots of fun! Not lots of time.

So yeah, this is the first piece of hopefully many in 2008! I have no idea how many hours this took, I'll just say "quite a few". I've been working on it for a couple of days.

The setup here is that the Star-Fox Team picks up a distress call from a nearby freighter. No one responds to their hails, so Fox and the rest of the team board the vessel in question and attempt to locate the cause of the trouble. Wandering alone through the empty corridors of the ship, Krystal is the first to figure out what the problem was...

I don't really have any plans on continuing this little adventure, so use your imagination as to what happens next . Also, this piece is in a letterbox style. So feel free to add whatever "Oh -Crap!" captions you want in the black spaces.

laurec is fun!... compared to the german version of PL4. sue me, but how can a company spend 2 year on translating this game and then fail so horribly? some puzzles are changed which don't even make sense anymore. for example: puzzle 006 where you have to built up the word "post" with some differently formed blocks. guess what we have in german (most likely whole europe): "1234".......................... the hell?! it's a fucking letterbox! for THAT we can't enjoy london life. jesus...
also, descole's and emmy's voices are different from the movie. eww...

now, level-5 europe, for as long as i enjoy lautrec.... f*ck you. you ruined a good game because of your lazyness.

and i have to edit, lautrec has such an amazing catchy soundtrack. i love the "frenchness" and adventuresomeness in it~ ohoho. so happy i'm not too loyal to the good old english gentleman. he will stay the best, but there's always a place for an french indiana jones xD

The letterbox-type of boxes on the top and bottom were actually accidental things that turned up when I was messing with the size but they worked out well, and gave me room for credits and the silly tag-line. ^_^

More Gorillaz-Broadway crossover stuff - this time inspired by "Mamma Mia" and the really fun cover the new soundtrack has: [link] There's just a great sense of energy about it that I wanted to see if I could capture. So in true parody-sense the poses are mimicked, and you can pretty much guess who's which character that way.

Lemme just say, it was fun to draw the Gorillaz guys in suits. 2D looks so suave, Russel's just having a good time and I'm waiting for Murdoc to strike the 'Stayin Alive' pose any second with his Travolta-esque getup, haha!

Mario Bros. Mansion

So what we've got here is an envisioning of what it might be like if both of the Mario Bros., and not just Luigi, got stuck inside a seriously creepy mansion. It's meant to be sort of a follow-up to Luigi's Mansion, in a way.
I've always been a fan of old-school horror, and when I introduced myself to the Mario Bros. franchise, I had become even more of a fan. So Luigi's Mansion was right down my alley- I honestly think that it's one of the most beautiful games ever, with a deliciously tongue-in-cheek creepy atmosphere that became cozy and snug once you turned on the lights.

Although it's probably easy to tell that the foyer in Lugi's Mansion was the main inspiration, I was also inspired by Disneyland's Haunted Mansion, particularly the purple patterned wallpaper. The carpet actually was inspired by the carpets seen all over Pokémon TCG, which had always fascinated me. The wooden floor is inspired by floors in actual Victorian mansions, such as the Winchester Mystery House.
In many ways I felt that Luigi's Mansion could go one step further on the creepy scale, which is what I try to do here. Hopefully the darkness looming around them gives it that ominous and perhaps dangerous atmosphere I was going for. (Try and spot some of the references and hidden details I put into it!)

How this got colored is an odd story- see, this was actually drawn on lined notebook paper. We always felt it needed color, but the dreaded blue lines would get in the way.
It comes from the same notebooks that most of our Mario doodles have come from, the ones we used for our Japanese language classes (most of which we've forgotten). We actually have all of those scanned, but we don't get around to cleaning them up very often. I really could do better now, since there are some mistakes that I'd be able to avoid- such as the wallpaper pattern- but it was a nice effort that I felt could be enhanced.
There's actually a nifty trick you can do in Photoshop to get rid of the lines of note paper. Under Adjustments > Black & White, you can desaturate the image and adjust how bright a particular color will be. This way you can turn the blue and magenta way up and make the lines disappear- and get rid of stains/yellowing too- leaving the drawing intact.

So basically we printed the cleaned-up scan on some high-quality paper and I colored that instead. It was kind of like a coloring book.

I tried to use several colors I hadn't used before, which I think worked out nicely, although I still used some of my favorites. I'm always very careful about what colors I use, and it took some effort to get the dark, shadowy effect I wanted. Let me tell you, it took a lot of layers to get it this dark. I had to use colors that weren't close to one another in hue, which is the same strategy I used for the colored drawing of Bernardo Lovelock.
The cobwebs weren't actually in the original drawing- that's a detail I added after coloring everything, which I felt was needed to get that abandoned, decrepit look.

The drawing struck me as being rather cinematic, especially with the rectangular shape, so that's why I've got it letterboxed here to make it look sort of like a screenshot. It only took some minor adjustments to make it truly have an aspect ratio of 16:9.

Overall, I'm rather pleased with this one.

Has anyone else heard the story of a completely blue candle flame indicating the presence of a ghost? I think I heard that in a ghost documentary on TV.

I was sort of shoved into this one.
I kept complaining that I was bored, and so Vaala said "Draw Shin".

So yeah, here's my half of an art trade with my bestest friend, Vaala Marsaille.
For those of you who've read my Gold Demona fic, yes she's a real person.

Kaioshin (AKA Shin, AKA Supreme Kai) is one of her favorite DBZ characters, if not THE favorite. At any rate, he's one of the characters she draws the most fanart of.
Him and Babidi. They make a pretty interesting pair. =/

I'm not overly happy with the background, but oh well. =/
Since I lost all my project files in the great harddrive crash, I had to remember how to make rocks..... which was a major pain in the ass. >_<

Anyway yeah, here ya go, Vaala. I drew Shin. And colored him, too.
Don't think you have to make yours into a desktop-shaped picture just because that's how I did mine. It was just force of habit.
I almost put it in a letterbox too. XP

The Fact of Being There

I wanted to try to get as close as I possibly could to the real artwork from the series, right down to the same aspect ratio for the main image. To me, fanart is staying as true to the original as possible, so I tried to recreate everything I could to make it look like an actual scene from the show. This also meant staying true to the character of Motoko. I didn't want her being too provocative because Motoko to me is sexy without being sexual.

Trying to seperate myself from what I thought others would do, I decided to go with her outfit from the opening of Second Gig that way I'd *ahem* stand alone. I picked this one because I wanted to try to portray her as being sexy even if she isn't scantily clad. I also wanted to bring other characters from Ghost in the Shell into the picture, because even though its a picture about the Major, she is the field leader of Section 9 (and I think a woman in power is damn sexy). The way she works with others is also a big part of what makes Motoko who she is. Originally I was going to have Ishikawa and Boma in the picture too, however there was no way to squeeze them in without making it look cluttered. The little scene I laid out in my head would be Aramaki walking into the room, so I both couldn't picture him and gave Motoko a reason to be looking at the "camera". The title is named after the 16th episode of 2nd Gig, just for the record.

The picture took me a little too long to finish, but I wanted to get every detail right so I feel it was worth it. I originally drew it on paper, then scanned it. It was colored using Paint Shop Pro X and a Wacom Graphire 3 tablet. I went with the letterboxing so it would be wallpaper size, and to make the colors used stand out more.

This is a slightly reworked version of my earlier illustration with David Tennant being sneaky after tampering with the Tardis as to leave a surprise for his next incarnation Matt Smith the 11th Doctor Who.

Also I have made it more desktop friendly by making my sig' tag smaller and faded at the top. It's letterbox also as its cinemascoped a little.

Resolution lowered for desktop version so may look a bit pixely around some edges, but thats pixels for you.

Armor in the Moonlight v2.0

So I updated my Armor in the Moonlight image to clean it up. Those letterboxes were just meh. I also changed the stars and moon around. I also cleaned up the scan a BUNCH. The cape was edited over about 4 hours using photoshop and a WACOM tablet to make it look like frayed cloth.

Trust me not EVERY page'll be single letterbox pictures. It just happened that ah had 2 right in a row planned.

Quite frankly ahm terrible at comics, usually ah stress so much over the dialogue n' what ah want characters to say, to the point that ahm never satisfied and inevitably never finish the comic at all. xDDD So ah figure for any if not all future PMD missions, ah'll just throw dialogue out the window and let the pictures tell the story. :> It may not be a "winning" formula since not everyone will like it, but ah'll have more fun doing it and it'll really let m' art speak for itself rather than having a wall of dialogue telling it for me.

Anyways, looks like Mike the Mander decided to track down the Travellers for some assistance with an otherwise treacherous mission. :0

_{Another AirHeads! scene, this time done as a letterbox-type screenshot.

So, in this scene from the AirHeads! episode "Le Siege of Aquafina: Pt. 1", Katarina Hansenshiver and Princess Yvonne de L'Eau are in Le Jardin des Poissons with Andy Breeze. However, Andy's pet lemur Julien (who likes to move it, move it) was splashing around in the pond, and the two girls give him a dirty look for it.

The background took a while to play with, planning out if I wanted to do it indoors or outdoors, and figuring out how to place the clouds. One thing I ended doing as a fun addition (and a way to further westernize the sotry), is add a church-like building in the background, and put the waterbending symbol in stained glass.

So, I'm glad to finally have that done. Expect a lot of art from me this month; I'm going back to school in a few weeks, so now this is my chance to get in as much art as possible before I have to go back to focusing on getting my college courses out of the way.

So the first request I got was for Grovyle. And so I set out to draw one that didn't look as hilariously manly as my previous attempt.

I think I succeeded.

She was finally here, the sweet land of Pokette.
Torotix stared deeply into the map she had been sent with her acceptance letter into the little town. She frowned as she traced her claw from where the symbol of the train station was to the big red X where her house had been built.
She was lucky though, she had heard some residents hadn't even organised a house yet and she was glad she had planned ahead and paid up-front to ensure she had somewhere to live when she arrived.
Unfortunately, whatever she had paid had not helped at getting her house closer to the train station, so she was left by herself to painstakingly venture across town with her heavy bags (mostly filled with crafting supplies and pre-made items to sell) to her new abode.

The cool autumn air rolled in, and Torotix felt a little chilly.
I'll have to make a new jumper.. she thought to herself. She took a look at the map again. She had no idea where she was. Apparently there was a tailors' store near where her house was. She looked around, she could see something in the distance.
She stopped to replenish her energy for a little bit, but then made a dash to whatever was over there. She could see a roof. It must be a house.

Her heart racing, Torotix crept closer to the house. She didn't know whether it was her house or one of her new neighbours', but if the latter, she would have preferred to be settled in her house first, before giving away the details of her trade (What if they wanted to see her wares right there on the spot?..).
She moved up to read the sign on the letterbox.
"Torotix" it said. So this really was her new home!
She took a few steps back to admire the place. It was of decent size, and looked to be in good condition. Torotix was thrilled and excited as she fumbled with her belongings to find the key to it. When she finally got it out she took deep breaths while concealing her laughter and smiles.

"And now to start my new life.." she said as she unlocked the door.
Torotix has moved in!

Finally, after several failed attempts, I've managed to do an acceptable interpretation of the adorable Edward Elric. An angsty profile, but still pretty darn good, I think. This is my half of an art trade with my adopted dA daughter, the marvelously talented !! I hope she approves, being the very big Ed fan that she is!
Have I mentioned how much I love Sharpies? Decided the overall image was fine without the letterbox border this time. What do you all think? Comments/critiques....always appreciated!!

XD~ Yay for Fake Widescreen Inuyasha Screencaps. w00t.

Anyhow... what's going on you ask? Well, let me tell you.

I have no clue.

I was watching Inuyasha the other day at all hours of the night and drawing, and it was the one with the panther demons and stuff yadda yadda yadda and Sesshoumaru kept saying, "Not necessary." That's it. Probably about five other words came out of his mouth through the whole rest of the episode. But I didn't care. It was sexy. ^^' Thus spawned this wonderful masterpiece of demented light sources and extremely large letterbox-TV bars.

Yes I know. The background is dark and the figures are light. I know. I didn't want to change it. I got the colors so perfect. <_< If I could hold onto a train of thought for more than five minutes, maybe I'd write a fanfic to go with this. But alas. I cannot. -le sigh-

And Whit, yay for everything funny that spewed from us while I was making this! IT'S THE MIAAAAAASMA! Now it's small enough for life! If the screen was wide, widescreen would be one word! XD~ You crack me up.

The first chiaroscuro! I swear, I'm not getting tired of these things, even if you lot are, so nyah. xP Inspired by my current glorious wallpaper of genderbent!Prussia and Germany - which I now sadly can't find the original post of, otherwise I'd link you to its extreme hotness - I had to continue the vein of fem!Prussia in hotpants. Thus.

It was totally sketchy, I think I did it in a couple of lectures with my poor now-deceased 1.0 pen and later a crappy 10p bingo marker. (Which died in like...two images' time.) I later corrected the gun in PS because I'd forgotten in Maths for Computer Graphics what guns looked like in the 19th century, and it was some sort of horrible mutant. It's still vague, don't kill me for it.

It also works as a wallpaper; the file is 1024 wide, 1280 in Download, 1600 here, and looks fine with black letterboxing in squarish aspect ratios like mine. x3

Title totally a reference to Prussia's perceived militarism. Dudes, they practically invented the education system as we know it. Old Fritz....like, dude.
