It was a dull day at headquarters, so Watari agreed to accompany the three to get a little snack. It was only for this store that L would risk staying outside. Light had no interest in the petite confections, but after much persuasion by Misa, he gave in and had a little devil's food cake.

On the topic of this being one of the "Most Popular Deviations of All Time"
You guys, chill out. I don't know why it's up there either, okay? For that reason, it's obviously no use asking me. It's not like I can control the number of views or favorites I receive.

I know this is is far from our best work, but it's been years since we shot this and we've learned a lot more since then.

My friends and I did this because it's something we enjoy, and as a tribute to a series that we love. We shared it here, just like anyone else who has ever submitted a deviation. That's all.

That aside, nobody has the right to deny the worth of someone's work just because they can't see it. I know everyone is free to come up with their own opinions. That's all well and good, but there is no need to pointlessly bring down people who have opinions different from your own. I'm not just defending myself here - I'm speaking for everyone who has had this happen to them.

To those of you who feel the need to insult me, or others like me - Really, posting spiteful comments isn't going to do anyone any good. Whining isn't going to take way the supposed "popularity" you feel I don't deserve - which, keep in mind, I did not ask for or bring upon myself.

Before you use freedom of speech as an excuse, take note that something of equal importance is the sense of common decency. You're certainly not going to change people's minds by making yourself look like a rude, bitter, popularity-crazed prick. You're much better off using your time doing something that's actually productive if you truly care about the community.

TL;DR - deviantART is NOT serious effin' business. It would do you good not to get caught up in pointless negativity.

Size: 3 pieces of A4 paper taped together (approximately 11.5 x 22 inches), digitally connected using Photoshop CS3.

If you guys were wondering about my sudden two-month hiatus, THIS WAS WHY. I've been working on and off (mostly off OTL;; ) on this piece for about 6 weeks in preparation for Anime Expo artist alley. Consider it a tribute to all the games and gamers out there!

The Nintendo DS is probably my favorite console along with my trusty old school PS2. DS ports many of my favorite series, so I figured I can cram them all into one picture since I'm too lazy to draw separate pictures of each of the O3O

It was very hard choosing which games to put in here. If I had more time and paper space, I'd stick quite a few more in there, but was big enough as it is. There is a total of 47 characters from 16 different games in this piece.

The sketching was the hardest and longest part, for sure. Coloring went relatively smooth except for those little elebits that's practically invading every corner of the picture. The smallest one is about 1/3 the size of my fingernail. I spent some time studying the art of each game because I didn't want to deviate TOO far from the original style. Each game has its own way of lining and coloring, and I tried to incorporate those aspects into my own style without having everything look like a huge mess. I ended up with a somewhat organized clutter.

Drawing and coloring the picture was only half battle. Connecting three separately scanned pictures took about five hours on its own. I became very acquainted with the clone tool because of this. Sadly, a lot of the colors and shades were lost through scanning. I had to go back and adjust individual colors to make it look like the original, but there are still some that can't be fixed (darn those reds and oranges) orz;;

This is now finally the gorgeous Rainbow Rose.

Oh my Goodness! I hope I didn't promise too much! This has to be the most beautiful rainbow rose I have ever seen! I wished they were for real! Yeah, I know about the Happy Roses but they are "only" dyed. I have some shots of them in my gallery.

"stop taking pictures..!!"

ok, remember that interview I talked about recently? Yeah, we decided to spontaneously take a carton of eggs and a marker to the parking lot and see what happened..
The girl who interviewed me was at the time the only one with a camera, so she got to shoot lotsa different pictures of this scenario. But I didn't get to see how they turned out ('cos I was too shy to ask) so I came back later with my sister and my dad's camera.
The funniest part was when my sister and I took those two eggs you see in the background and smashed them as well (I put the glaring one back in the carton, just fer kicks..).

So, yeah, another egg picture..

The "story" behind this one is that one egg got brutally murdered, it was a hit-and-run kinda incident, and I'm guessing the egg lying next to him, crying it's eyes out, was his partner or something. That terrified one wasn't supposed to be covered in yolk/blood, but he fell.. which actually made it more gory in a way... idk
And that one at the front, glaring at'cha, he's the one keeping the paparazzi away, ridding the mourning eggs of unwanted attention.
Sorta..

on the other hand, Mr. Glarealot over there looks kinda accusing rather than threatening, don'tcha think..? Like he's saying "It was you... I just knowit.."

My Brush Pack

So these are really the only brushes I use, period. I barely, ever, use custom weird funky brushes unless its for design purpose. I find this collection achieves exactly what I want, and haven't searched elsewhere. It's like my Holy Grail so I figured all of you digi painters could use them as well!

Now you might be like "Why such a small list?" I don't mean this in an arrogant way , but I can really achieve any feeling I want with these brushes, just get used to them, play with it and it'll work out! They did for me.

I have a run down below on what each brush is used for in a painting:

Brushes

Standard Brush: This is what I use to drop my basic colors when quickly slapping down what I want. I seldom use it for actual detailing, but if I need to block in thick patches I'll use this brush.

Detailing Painting Brush: My favorite brush next to the fur brush. This one is simply used to get those nooks and crannies. If I were to use the brush above for 25% of the painting, this would be the other 75%.

Lighting Brush You know all those lens flares, over bright lights, shiny glowing areas I do? This is the brush. Use it softly and you'll achieve a nice bloom in your lighting.

Detailing Lighting Brush For tinier spots, harder lighting areas.

Texture Brush: I use this brush mostly for pores, dabbles on the skin, bumpy surfaces, or just to give texture to skin in general. Works like a charm.

Hair Brush/Smudge Brush Pretty Self Explanatory. Do I start off painting hair with this brush? No, I use the Standard Painting Brush then I go over it with this brush to create the strands/etc. As for the smudging, this is my ideal color mixer when I need to blend tones, acts like a bristle brush and merges all those nice colors together to create a creamy feel.

Chalk Brush: I use this for clouds sometimes, smoke, or just patching in colors. Works better than I can explain.

Hard Ink Brush: This I use rarely, but when I do use it, it really helps. Usually for adding glare, or tight highlights on certian objects to make them pop. Like the girls earring.

Texture Brush # 2 : This one I use a lot to get nice pores, that sweaty look or just overall skin texture.

Cloud Brush #1-3: Used to paint clouds, nuff' said.

Abrams Lighting Brush: I love this brush. In my "INSIDE THE BEAST" image, all those lighting effects you guys talked about were used with this brush.

Speckle Brush: Used for skin again, or to dirty something up.

Debris Brush: Need to create dirt flying? Tiny bumps on a sexy leg? This is it sucka.

Fur Brush: UNF! My favorite brush. I use this for skin, fur, cloth, metal, sparks, debris, glass, anything. It's a hard shell to crack, but once you do..it's a GREAT brush.

Pore Brush: Literally my 489474th brush used for skin/pores.

Glass Brush: Used to create shattered glass, papers flying, etc.

Edit: OMFG. Overnight, this has suddenly become overrated. Haha just kidding... but... um... it's going to be impossible at this time for me to thank everyone who bombed my inbox with s and es and comments and such. So I'm sorry but all I can manage right now is a collective thank you. I mean every letter of it.

Truth be told, even if I said I was "just having fun" I was thinking of including the faces in the manual I'm co-authoring at the art school where I work. So yes, use them for reference and practice, that's what they're for!

I'd also like to thank everyone for their suggestions on what faces to do next but I don't think I want to risk another message center explosion... well that, and/or being accused of attention whoring... so how about you people draw your own?

Edit: You are all unreal. I thank each of you from the bottom of my heart, I am still just stunned at the amount of love and support I have gotten from people. I can't believe this has gone viral and is on the Wipe Out Homophobia Page on FB! Crazy!
I do want to note that I saw whoever shared it changed the last line from "I'm sorry if that's not okay" to "that's okay" I do get why they changed it, obviously. I had my reasons for it being that way, as I explained in comments - it was sarcasm. But I have edited the poem to have it as "that's okay" so it is not conflicting with the now viral post everywhere. Thank you all again a billion times over!

Chinese Zodiac

Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Ram, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig!

All 12 were drawn in the course of several days (and nights) to be used for prints for upcoming conventions. I've always wanted to do a set of Zodiac characters (Western, or Eastern) but it was the nudging from ~-patches- that finally gave me the inspiration to get to it! So enjoy. I put a lot of time, love, and effort and research into them.

Sorry for the smallness and watermark, but these will be used for commercial purposes, so don't use and all that, ok?

This is actually my first time entering a dA contest! I definitely don't expect to place or anything, it was fun to do and right up my alley. Digital painting done in Adobe Photoshop CS5 with a Wacom tablet. Good luck to everyone who also submitted!

Lackadaisy Expressions

Boy, I didn't know what I was getting myself into when I started this. I've had requests for some sort of expressions tutorial dating back a while now, so I figured, "Sure! I can explain expression drawing...and I'll make it way better than all those tutorials out there that are nothing but charts of generic expressions. Yeah! Just give me a day or two to whip something up..."

Um. Sometime a lot more than two days later, I have this messy behemoth and the realization that I haven't a clue how to teach expression drawing. There's just so much material to cover, and so much of it is like intuitive language translation, I can't figure how to put it into tutorial form any more than I could draw a picture of how to speak Russian. I guess that's why expression tutorials are mostly just charts of what happy, sad, and confused look like.

Anyway, I found all I could really do was try to explain ways to teach yourself...and then add some pictures. Hopefully that makes for something at least marginally informative.

Happy Holidays everyone!

This is a very old idea that's been floating around in my head for about 6 years. It was originally a sculpture I made in high school but my baby brothers broke it before I could get any pictures...

Mother nature is always so full of wonder. From the most majestic creatures to the most whimsical ones, they're all so special in their own ways. It's so magical when two species interact so I imagined a forest spirit crossing path with a family of ducks, and both being fascinated by each other Everything is a source of wonder.

I wanted to upload this on Halloween but it took all the weekend to finish it

This is a remake of an older anim from 2 or 3 years ago, it was like a personal challenge for me since i liked a lot how the older one looked. I tried to make the transformation more visible, instead of hiding his face and such. Also i applied the animation techniques i learned with CSW, even if this sprite is bigger than the ones in csw they helped a lot.

My house is a way smaller version of hers, so sadly it isn't as crisp, but it's a house none the less.

I had a problem with my new yellow I got... it smudges everywhere! I constantly had to keep fixing that damn moon!

Ohmygosh. This is about 1/2 the size of the original image and it's still massive. PLEASE FULL VIEW!
This took me so long. That can happen when you draw like, one panel a day. So yes. Anyway, this is inspired by my strange obsession with ninjas that seems to fluctuate every couple of months. Of course I had to throw in a suicidal pizza delivery ninja and a mysterious hooded ninja on fire.

i've been bummed out latey and today was especially sad. so anyways this is a random de-bumming drawing i did through out school. we had extra time in Japanese^-^ well actually we WERE supposed to be working, eh well thats what weekends are for.

i think this drawing doesnt quite stand alone so i plan to con my friend into writing a poem to add in later. because me writing literature is like a five year old building a sky scrapper. just dont happen.

Tools: brown paper (with ugly black specks), Derwent Graphic Soft Pencils, tissues (lots), and an awesome eraser from school (stolen ).

Note: This is actually still incomplete. The pencil need some more work and i need to work on the shadows on the hand. but i worked on this so long anyways, i hope you guys like it ^^ and excuse the lame title lol.

All my works are original designs.

They all use dollar bills with no cuts, no glue, and no tape.

Ok, here is one of the hardest long exposition i did...
located in a church in Ars en Ré, town on the "Ile de Ré" island (see previous shots i submitted)
long exposure 30 seconds, i had to run a lot to avoid getting myself caught in the image.
the lighting was really good inside this church

i hope you like the result, corrected the tone and contrast also...
