It's a silent film - I have yet to compose music or sound for it in the post production. *more to come later that don't suck as much*
PS> there's about 5 minutes of black at the beginning of the film...sorry... and my crappy camera produces this distorted strip of crappiness at the bottom... so I changed the aspect ratio to look more "cinematic" - unfortunately the stupid little strip blip is still there. *shakes his fist*
                    <media:player url="http://www.deviantart.com/film/71656766/" height="300" width="352"/>

Now hopefully most of the people here have already seen Game of Thrones (and if you haven't, you really, really should), but for those who haven't, I am portraying the character of Tyrion. Tyrion is a dwarf who has experienced a lot of bitterness in his life and often (as a result) drinks fairly excessively. In one of his more inebriated moments, he talks with his friends about a defining moment that occurred early in his life: the experience of when he got married.

Now that's it for the monologue itself. In conclusion, I wish to say I am open to any and all constructive criticism and comments. I am an amateur actor, still in high school, and I am performing these monologues for my own amusement and to display my acting ability while improving it through your suggestions. It is from the play Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand, Act I Scene 4. The character I am playing is, of course, Cyrano, a man famous for having a massive nose and for having a great deal of pride. Just prior to this scene, a nobleman had just insulted Cyrano's nose by saying it was "very big." In this monologue, Cyrano scathingly replies to the insult (if you can call it that).

Now, for anyone having trouble understanding what I am saying cause it is a little quick, there is the actual script online if you are really having a difficult time understanding what I am saying. I talked a little quicker than I normally do simply because I want to get the sense of overwhelming. Cyrano is simply too much for the nobleman with his intelligence and quick wit, and I wanted to portray that as much as possible by going from thing to thing to thing as quickly as I could. Also, I'm not sure if you noticed, but Cyrano is rhyming everything he says ("pot to hold your ink" "you love the little birds I think") cause he's just that much of a beast.

Now that's it for the monologue itself. In conclusion, I wish to say I am open to any and all constructive criticism and comments. I am an amateur actor, still in high school, and I am performing these monologues for my own amusement and to display my acting ability while improving it through your suggestions. The character I am portraying is Sherlock Holmes while he is disguised as the torturer Fu Teng. Prior to this monologue, Sherlock Holmes, disguised as Fu Teng, had arrived at Moriarty's lair only to have one of Moriarty's henchmen (Colonel Dashwood) request Holmes to demonstrate his torturing skills. Thus, as much as it pains Holmes, he proceeds to torture a young lady through a method called "The One Thousand Knives," describing each cut in detail. The monologue starts when Holmes is already at cut four and at the end of the monologue, Holmes is cut off (no pun intended).

Now, I would like to write a brief message to anyone who is Asian, Asian-American, or has a strong connection to Asian culture. I hope you are not offended by this monologue. I realize it is a stereotypical way of speaking. However, I would like to provide some background before people just jump to conclusions that I'm racist or bigoted or anything. First off, I have lived 13 years of my life in China (and am currently living there), only 6 months of the remaining 4 years spent out of Asia. Second, for my accent itself, I received coaching from a middle-aged, ethnic Han Chinese. Not an Asian-American or a Chinese man who had spent the majority of his life overseas, but an honest to goodness, full blooded Chinese man. And he actually wanted me to go further with it, wanted it to be even thicker and more stereotypical. Finally, I actually had to perform this character onstage in front of an audience that was approximately 70 percent Korean/Chinese, while wearing a fake Fu Manchu and saying phrases like "I bring you greetings from the Tenku Kang-teh, Lord of the Five Tongs." And they themselves were not offended by it. So, I hope you will enjoy it but if anyone does have a strong feeling about it, please contact me privately.

Now that's it for the monologue itself. In conclusion, I wish to say I am open to any and all constructive criticism and comments. I am an amateur actor, still in high school, and I am performing these monologues for my own amusement and to display my acting ability while improving it through your suggestions. I would love to hear how I can become a better actor! But I am also human, and any compliments you can muster would make my day. It is from the play Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw, Act II. Right before this scene, the phonetics professor Henry Higgins had agreed to teach a common girl named Eliza to speak like a lady (to challenge himself). However, her father, Alfred Doolittle heard she was coming to Higgins' house and, misunderstanding (as Eliza had told a boy to fetch her luggage, but that she wouldn't need any clothes), arrives attempting to gain five pounds, on the basis of being her father. Just prior to this monologue, Pickering (the second gentleman in the room) had expressed a little revulsion at the concept of Doolittle trying to sell his daughter into a "fate worse than death."

Now that's it for the monologue itself. It is from Henry IV Part 1 by William Shakespeare, the end of Act 1. I originally posted it as a journal entry, but have decided that in order to give it the widest exposure possible, I will submit it. Now, to give some background to this monologue, the character giving this monologue is Prince Hal, the future King Henry V. However, he has been living up to slightly less than people's expectations. He has been keeping rowdy, base company (none worse than the drunken, corrupted and corrupting Falstaff, funny as he is) and engaging in all manners of perversion and debauchery. Basically, he has been an embarrassment to his father and to the royal family. However, in this scene, Hal's company has just departed and he gives the reason for his behavior...

That does it for the monologue itself. Now to answer some questions on my rendition of the monologue and how it was presented. First, since this monologue only involves my face and no other part of my body (except maybe a hand every so often), the way I perform this monologue is not how I would perform it if I were actually performing it in a play, where I could use my full body for expression. My facial expressions could be considered too much. However, I feel that since it is only my face, I should attempt to convey as much as I can with my face. Second, there may be questions as to why I am smoking at the beginning. The answer is that I wished to provide a visual which would give a sense of rebellion that modern audiences can understand. While characters from Shakespeare's day would probably not have smoked cigarettes, I felt that this was a good way to convey his rebellion, and (symbolically) putting it aside during his monologue to take it up at the end.

As for the background of what happened prior to this scene, here it is: Basically, the character I am playing (called Algernon Moncrieff) is trying to go to dinner with his friend (Jack?), in order to pump him for information and avoid dining with his overbearing aunt. Jack (?) had just told Algernon that he "had much better dine with your Aunt Augusta."

Now, yes, I did submit an "Importance of Being Earnest" monologue previously. However, I wasn't really satisfied with that version, especially because I did very well with the role (probably the beard was the problem, as it really didn't fit that well with the character). So I redid it and hopefully it's better. And by the way, this monologue will begin a three video stretch where I will submit revisions of past monologues.

For those unfamiliar with Charlie Brown, he has been classified as a "lovable loser," a character who never wins but never gives up. He is a child of about 8 years old and holds a crush for a "cute little red-headed girl" but is too shy to ever admit it. In this scene, Charlie Brown is eating lunch at his school.

If anyone has trouble understanding what I am saying because it is too quiet, my apologies. I intentionally spoke softer than I normally would because Charlie Brown is such a shy and sensitive person. In addition, since this is a filmed monologue, I believed that it would not be too quiet since volume is easily adjustable.

Now that's it for the monologue itself. Jack (?) had just told Algernon that he "had much better dine with your Aunt Augusta."

That's it for the synopsis. I don't think there is too much else that needs explanation (besides the fact that my beard has continued to grow over this summer to epic proportions). If anyone doesn't know what a "Bunbury" is......well, if it truly is bugging you, contact me, because the answer is a bit complicated.....

Now that's it for the monologue itself. Here is the synopsis provided: "Elizabeth is being interviewed by two police officers. She has just confessed to murdering 6 girls."

Now, some of you who are familiar with Cold Blooded Murderer might be a little confused. I'll try to clear this up: Yes, I am a guy....pretty obviously. And yes, the character in question I am playing is a girl. And no, I did not change the monologue to that of a guy. While it would have been fairly easy to change the monologue to have a guy speaking instead, since Elizabeth only a couple of times makes gender specific statements (like "a nice little girl like me" or "pretty but never the prettiest"), I felt that even small changes (like "nice little guy like me" or, I suppose, "buff but never the buffest") takes away from the work, especially the whole meaning of having this quiet girl kill these beautiful, successful women. The work just feels right, and has so much more power when spoken in its original way. That said, I am not pretending to be a girl. As I said, I am a guy. I am simply trying to act like the character behind the words, simply attempting to perform in a universal manner. I hope you can enjoy the performance for what it is and not get hung up on "Well, if he's a guy, why's he saying this, and if he's a girl, why's he got a beard?"

Now that's it for the monologue itself. It is also from the play Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw, this time Act V. It is once again a monologue by Alfred Doolittle. The background for this is fairly simple. After the last meeting between Henry Higgins and Alfred Doolittle, Henry Higgins wrote a letter to a dying millionaire, recommending Alfred Doolittle as "one of the most original moralist's in England." Therefore, this dying millionaire left Alfred Doolittle thousands of dollars in his will, elevating Doolittle to the middle class, on the condition he lectures for a certain moral society. Unfortunately, Doolittle's not that happy about his change in fortune.

Now that's it for the monologue itself. It is from Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, Act 3 Scene 1. This is actually probably not the monologue most people would think of when they think of Romeo and Juliet (either Romeo's or Juliet's romantic monologues). It is, in fact, a short monologue by Mercutio. Here's what's happened prior to this scene. Benvolio and Mercutio are out in public. Benvolio thinks that they should leave in case they meet with their sworn enemy, the Capulets. However, Mercutio then starts jesting. Remember, this monologue is very facetious/flippant. It's playful banter between friends, especially since Benvolio is one of the most steadying influences in the play, constantly trying to avoid and settle the brawls and duels that occur.

A little bit of necessary info. With this monologue, I have actually pasted three different segments together. However, I believe that they fit fairly well, especially since they occur one right after the other in the scene.

Now that does it for the monologue itself. In conclusion, I wish to say I am open to any and all constructive criticism and comments. When both their parents feel they are spending too much time together and pressure them to back off from the relationship, Joey and Darla take one last cruise along Highway 12. Afterward, Joey recounts his story in group therapy."

Now that's it for the monologue itself. Just a few things of note. First off, this is meant to be performed on a stage. Thus, when I am crying or sad, it may come off as a bit much or a little cheesy (I hope not). It is from Henry V by William Shakespeare, Act 4 Scene 3. Now this is a fairly famous speech, and undoubtedly most people will know it, but I will provide some background anyway. Prior to this scene, Henry had been waging a war to reclaim France. His army had been constantly battling and fighting the elements, so by now they are exhausted.
