Recently, I read this journal: [link]

It explains that deviantART has recently decided to ban users from submitting audio files. They are also asking users to delete any existing audio files from their gallery.

I was pretty upset when I heard about this since I listen to music on deviantART a lot and watch a few composers.

deviantART, however, is not blocking users from submitting Flash files so I decided to make this utility with my friend Stephen. It takes mp3 files and attaches them to a Flash audio player I made. You can then submit this SWF file to deviantART bypassing their audio file restrictions.

Well, ~104crazyman188 has recently asked about interactive stories on DA, and as I was a little restless lately, I've decided to play a little by making I-StoryC : the Interactive Story Creator.

This creator make possible to create interactive stories and to generate a flash animation to read it.

Here's a Sample and its XML Storyline

You are free to use it to create your stories, just know that the generated Flash automatically give credit of the text to the author (indicated in the creator) and of the flash part to myself.

Technically speaking, this little thing was easy to make.
The only fun part was the generation of a swf by a swf, but even that was not really complex.

Ok this time it is thing mostly for programmers. It is random number generating algorithms testing. It tests generators distribution in rough manner and tests their speed for generating floating point numbers. In base they are unsigned integer numbers generators but flash original generator is generating floating point numbers in [0,1] range so I made those to make same numbers for comparison. So to see results yourself choose a generator in comboBox and press start generation. You will see how much numbers it has generated in count box and a rough graphic of its distribution to the right. It’s not real precise test but it roughly shows distribution and its fine with me.

Now for final thoughts. Seems this paper I saw didn’t lie and Tausworth is the fastest and it has decent period. So I think I will stick with it for a while. Read conclusion in journal for more info [link]

After some thoughts decided to give a try to less quality RNG. It is based on linear congruential generators.
I used two implementations i found.

LCG
Code creator: Me. Used wiki article as base [link] Took parameters from Microsoft C++ random that are mentioned in wiki.
Algorithm: Linear congruential generator for 32bit integers.
Period: <= 2^32 ~ 10^9 ***

FLCG

E-learning Course - AAA Paris

I am working once again with the people I used to in Paris, but this time they actually gave me a job related to drawing. I was commissioned to draw lessons for the E-learning software I contributed to create a prototype for two years ago.

They continued development without me, and now the software is approaching production phase... meaning they hunger for content for their language-teaching software... while being on a fairly low budget for a project this scale.

One of the main things that kept me from updating often this summer is this. I actually didn't think I would get the authorization to post it, but here it is! ... with some conditions.

Each picture is watermarked, and pictures are displayed in an automated slideshow which randomly displays one of the pictures amongst the 224 for two seconds.
This means you won't be able to truly see the pictures unless you use their site. Plus, those pictures are pretty useless without... you know, the text that actually allow you to learn languages!

The E-learning part isn't public yet, but hopefully it should open soon and you'll be able to hear the voices that go with those drawings.
I'll admit that the english site is a bit lacking as they focus mainly on french and asian languages... oh well. At least they do have an english page.

This is the first time I handled such a huge scale commission. Due to the low budget they decided to invest for this, I had to go for speed rather than for quality.
The art doesn't exactly looks super awesome considering what I can do, since I had to rush it to match the pay.

But I guess getting a drawing job of this scale should still be considered a milestone for me. And even if it is once again probably not the thing you might want to see from me, I am pretty glad I can actually show a glimpse of a work spread over two months.

I did the IP Calculator, Subnetter thingee in Flash 5 actionscript. The 3DCG chik is not mine. I just donloaded her off the internet. Her author retains copyright, of course. Hehehehe.

Key controls:

enter - launch , auto solve
numbers - input numbers ( keypad )
escape - close - minimize

input something like 192.16830.1
then u can convert to binary, the u can use result number, then convert back to decimal format and stuff like that ... hehehe ... something like that ... hehe

The inspirations for this design come from two sources:

- the skyclock found on many grandfather clocks
- the ambient noise in the miniclip version of the game "soduku"

This was a big test for me for part of an interface to another project I'm working on.

Sound credits for samplings go to this website. I must track down the samples I used, they were almost random.... as I need to give credit to the sampling author, as stated in their usage agreement

There are 5 blackbird samples for the day (between 6am and 6 pm) and 2 tawny owl samples for evening (5pm to 5am)
These sound affects are approved by my lovebird, Calamity Jane!!!!

I'm not certain what time it will reflect on the website. On my server, I believe it reflects server time.

Based on feedback and other inspirations, I would like to add more robust time clock, sound samples (e.g. more integrated, variable, perhaps a constant buzz of cricketts or frogs), etc..... based on that, know that constructive criticisms are welcome!!

Spider Web Moving Wallpaper

I know it says in the utilities section the author is giving persmission to others to use his/her work or whatever, but this is not the case with my work. I decided to start practicing Conscious Dreams. It's type of dreams when you can control ewerything and just seem to play mega super bright and realistic computer game in special costume. That feeling is great. And I found a program that help me to remember and even realise myself. But author used low quality GIF image and it didn't work in full screen mode, so I decided to FLASH it (it's wery simple animation) to make it more eye-pleasant. Maybe (if you ask me) I'll even do a translation for those who is interested in CD's.

Я решил начать практику Осознанного Сновидения. Это тип снов когда ты можешь контроллировать всё и очень похоже на мега супер яркую и реалистичную компьютерную игру в которую ты играешь в специальном костюме. Это ощущение непередаваемо. Я нашёл программу которая помогает запоминать сны и даже осознаться, но автор использовал низкокачественную GIF'ку и не было возможности развернуть её на весь экран, такчто я решил перевести её во flash, благо тут используется очень простая анимация.
