You speak only when needed
You look at me only if you must
You only see what you can't ignore

You hit the lights at ten PM every god damn night
You treat TV news and reality shows as your delight
You probably forgot what I look like the day after we met
You don't believe in the concept of having a heart ache

You are all I need to leave behind
You are the poison by my side
You are what's holding me back
You are a tumor in my hey sack

I just had a huge idea
I saw it like light reaching from the dark
I am leaving this wreck of a home with you
I think I can find something better to do...

What is Urbanidea?
It's actually Urban idea. An idea that comes to you just by judging your urban surroundings. Like in my poem, a guy that understands he needs to leave his life based on the metaphor of his wrecked home. The concept may be far fetched but I felt it from the first second I took this shot, so I feel strongly about it.

The shot is taken in Jaffa, Israel.
It wasn't staged or planned, simply found it when exploring the street and places there. I used a filter called "ND grad" filter. It's half tobacco colored ND (Natural Density) fading gradually fading, and half regular. The filter allows 2 more stops of closed aperture in the colored area (it's darker) and by that it allows me not to overexpose the sky above, and also adds the reddish color on top. There is no manipulation or extreme editing (contrast and levels).

I hope you enjoyed this short "trip" through my thoughts.

The hotel suffered from a fire 3 years ago but it was purchased by a man who used his brothers stolen passport to obtain the loan. The hotel is just sitting in idle decline while the German courts try to decide who ownership of the property belongs to now.

This photo was picked up and published in National Geographics "photos we love" Best of July 2012

And picked as a Daily Deviation on 2012-08-18

Also this photo won first place in the 2012 Jula international photography festival held in Munich Germany

I was driving down the hill in these awesome roads.. In the past they used to practice Rally championships on them.
When I go out to shoot, I tend to look at everything that surrounds me and I spoted a great place to shoot this curve. I was carrying my wide lens, and decided to shoot this at 10mm giving this great look.

It was raining a lot, so my girlfriend had to hold the umbrella over our heads while I was shooting this one.

Its a crazy shot of a beautiful place, and every Portuguese deviant surely agrees with me, Sintra is one of the most beautiful places in Portugal.

Post-processing:

PSCS2 levels, desaturate the image, used "replace color" to maintain the red lights of the passing car, burn tool on the 4 corners and unsharpmask at 25%.

Some areas of the road, you can easily see a lost of detail, this is due to water drops on my lens... it was raining and even with the umbrella some drops reached the Uv filter.

I was driving down the hill in these awesome roads.. In the past they used to practice Rally championships on them.
When I go out to shoot, I tend to look at everything that surrounds me and I spoted a great place to shoot this curve. I was carrying my wide lens, and decided to shoot this at 10mm giving this great look.

It was raining a lot, so my girlfriend had to hold the umbrella over our heads while I was shooting this one.

Its a crazy shot of a beautiful place, and every Portuguese deviant surely agrees with me, Sintra is one of the most beautiful places in Portugal.

After posting this same scene a few days ago, I decided I wanted to go back when conditions were better.

A quick winter storm moved over Breckenridge, Colorado, leaving behind 30 + inches of snow in its path. Soon the streets will be busy, with eager tourists and locals alike, heading for the lifts to get their first runs in the fresh powder. While making this image, a pair of beautiful red foxes came by to see what I was up. They quickly moved on, probably anticipating the flood of people that will soon fill these streets. For now though, this sleepy little street is perfectly silent on this amazing winter morning.
