the mind...is a terrible thing to taste. i think that was a quote by some band, but it seemed to fit.

the fact that she looks so joyful, but yet is crying, makes it interesting for me. i like disturbing. i would like to think that her face and pose reflect all kinds of different emotions, at the same time, just like the mind does. originally i was thinking that she should look like a vampire after a feast, or a vampire who is about to die as the sun rises. but plans have a tendency to change.

I was recently asked what Photoshop effects I used to achieve the effects in this image. The simple answer is none at all.

There was no retouching, crazy filters, or post processing. This was what I got on the camera, processed from RAW, and shared here with you. Here's how...

This was taken in a basement with no artificial lighting. This lighting effect was achieved by using two old silver mirrors. One to capture Kirst's reflection, and the other to reflect the sunlight at an opposite angle from a single window. In addition to providing an bottom-lit look, the distortions in the far mirror created a rainbow effect that I really liked.

Yes, yes- it's been forever since I got a horror photo done. My camera still sucks and I still can't afford a new one yet. But I digress! I bought some lovely glass eyes for some photos, and on deciding red was a good colour for me, I decided to add a lovely optic nerve and serve them up to my watchers
This piece is inspired by the shit sleep I've been getting in recent months/year. I'm plagued with stomach pains just about every night, so I'm losing a lot of sleep. In the morning, my eyes certainly feel angry, red, tired and so annoying that I feel like I want to cut them out. My body has always hated me, and this is my way of saying I hate it back ¬_¬
I need more sleep ¬_¬

Syrup based fake blood.

One of the many many pics I got this last Saturday. I let my friend Gracie photograph me for a horror movie poster she was doing for one of her classes it was great fun. I wore my wedding dress, though don't mistake me for B! He's done for now. This was just good, ole fashioned horror. Undead horror But yes. This has to be one of my FAVORITE shots of the day. It's so gruesome, and my teeth look awful! Pointed and gnashed and just.....blegh

I'm posting this because this is a reminder of the person i once was and never again will be. I use to do this years ago and I was doing alright. keeping clean till a few months ago when i had a terrible melt down. I'm working and improving, I'm working with others, digging into the roots to trying to figure out why i did what i did. I didn't post this for anyone else but for myself. If you have something to say that is negative and offensive, then keep it to yourself. If you have something to say otherwise then comment. I honestly believe i did this so i would ignore my emotions and thoughts and focus on something external rather than internal. This isn't a cry for help either. This is for myself to reflect on the person i one was and the person i'm trying to distance myself away from.

La bête rouge (the red beast)

It's me, covered in food dye (for red skin and yellow teeth), chomping on nice chewy flesh (or kitchen roll soaked in more food dye) and being evil.

The weirdly shaped catchlight in my eye is from the flash being reflected off a tiled wall. It wasn't intentional, but I rather like it. If you want details of how to do it, I've submitted a quick tutorial HERE.

This wasn't supposed to be a very detailed photoshoot, but it was! At first I was going to shoot Hell Nurse Katie, but she suggested that Dark be her "patient".

We agreed and brought our bloody scrubs... Dark ended up in full blown zombie-esque makeup... Her heart is missing and she's been beat all to hell... LOL

We played around with this mirror and this was the best shot D:

Pure reflected sunlight, from a very old silver glass mirror, which created dappled rainbow effects. In addition the the fill lighting is from the other nearby mirror, which she was standing in front of for "Twin Effect."

Just A Reflection?

This was taken because I really didn't want to do my homework.

At first it started by me just putting on purple lip stain stuff, making my mascara bleed, pouring red corn syrup into my mouth (its sweet and edible(and much better than store bought fake blood) but its gross if you pour too much into your mouth), and I put in my vampire fangs. So my first plan was to just take spiffy pics of my mouth w/ all the blood. (I'll probably post those around Halloween.) So then I got a bright idea to use the mirror of the medicine cabinet in my bathroom...this is the result.

I'm actually really proud of it. I was scared that it wouldn't work out as planned. Also this is to make up for my lack of updates.

Lycanthrope Pheromone

For a human, it is difficult to identify a lycanthrope. Most of the time, it is easier when a possible subject is seen with a known werewolf, but sometimes a researcher must go by subtle signs, such as how much light is reflected by the tapetum lucidum, body language, or emphasized dental structures.

Lycanthropes, however, are extraordinary creatures. Even in their human form, they have remarkably strong senses. One of their most powerful, and often-used senses is, of course, their olfactory sense. This ability allows a lycanthrope to discern by scent whether or not someone else is one of his or her own kind, regardless of form.

Since many breeds of lycanthropes are somewhat shy of humans by nature, I have found that attempts to interview them for my studies have been fruitless thus far. You see, my scent makes them ill at ease. However, I have noticed something intriguing about territory neutral zones, the mile-or-so stretch between pack territories. It appears that in neutral territory, regardless of breed and pack, most lycanthropes are far more relaxed amongst their own kind. Well, that is, so long as there are no boundary disputes going on.

However, now I may have more luck! The one lycanthrope I have had the good fortune to befriend has kindly donated some samples, and through many tests, I have been able to replicate a scent that, according to my source, is pretty close to the proper one for a lycanthrope. It also seems that werewolves have an odd sort of pack member pheromone, which I have also replicated. I think I will not use it this first time though.

Regardless, I hope that in small amounts, this werewolf cologne will indicate to other lycanthropes that I have social contact with their kind, and that it is safe to talk to me. Though, if I use too much, they may mistake me for a lycanthrope Which could be very, very dangerous.

I... wish to write more, but alas though the hour is late. This is not the time for planning, but a time for rest.

I do have fun making and mixing scented oils and such, now and again.
