I often come across birds I don't recognize, this small one was flying around a baseball field, I had not even considered trying to take his picture he was very fast. But on my way out of the park, I noticed he'd landed on a fence and stayed there, while I crept up on him, I got fairly close before he finally decided that was enough and bolted. If anyone can identify this one, please let me know.

Much as I agree with Senator John McCain that "War is wretched beyond description, and only a fool or a fraud could sentimentalize its cruel reality," I have to admit that the news that the head of one of the most murderous and ruthless terrorist organizations in the annals of military history has been dispatched, in conjunction with a heretofore unforeseen and unprecedented wave of rebellions and revolts all across the middle east wherein average people took to the streets and in some cases faced execution just for speaking their opinions and standing against their repressive governments might, possibly, maybe be the beginning of a trend toward a more peaceful middle east and a better world for our children and our children's children is at least mildly hopeful.

Besides, if as wise, as gentle, as thoughtful, as compassionate, and as peaceful a person as Hank Green can give his wife a High-Five over the death of Osama Bin Laden... Is this piece really out of line for me?

This was taken towards the end of the last school year. OMG I HATED THOSE JEANS SO BAD THEY WERE TOO TIGHT OTL

This little chick has a story to it~
Last year, when I was walking with my friend during lunch, we happened upon this little baby killdeer (Yes, that's it's species name XD) caught in the baseball fence.
I decided to try and help this chick out, so I took it out from the fence, and petted it for a while (thus the picture of it on my lap), then I set it on the ground to see if it could walk. It did, and it began to run away. I spotted in the distance what I thought to be one of the parents, so my friend and I spent about 5 minutes trying to situate the chick in the right direction without making the parent to fly away.
I never got to see the reunion, because the tardy bell rang, and my friend and I had to get to Japanese class~ :'D

Lovely lighting for this shot of a Burrowing Owl at the London Zoo. There was a single "spotlight" toward the center of its enclosure which helped me get rid of the background that cluttered up [link] , yet the light was still low enough that his pupils were dilated to the size of a baseball.

It's refreshing...

Smoochy is our Blue Eyed Cockatoo at Safari's, who was donated as an umbrella cockatoo, a pretty common pet cockatoo, but I noticed while getting to know him that he has a beautiful yellow tinge inside his crest, and I later read that umbrellas have a pure white creast. Blue eyes are pretty rare. He is probably the friendliest bird we have, and he loves to play with padlocks and baseball caps.

yes...i know...it's been a while since i posted anything to my account...only because i am still struggling to find a JOB!!!

anyway...my mom and i had gone to a boat race almost a week ago, which i thought was alright...

this goose was a trouble-maker! it almost attacked a man not to far from where my mom and i were sitting. the man was laying down on the stone ledge next to the river, but because he had his baseball cap on, he didnt see the bird. i was so ready to use my mom camcorder to record the attack, too

so i decided to post this finally. i took a bunch of pics when the mommy duck and her 10 chicks came into our pool.

heres what happened:

That morning mother duck decided to bring her 10 chicks up to the pool! YES! So around 7 this morning mom and dad call me down and I see mother duck and her 10 tiny tiny chicks swimming around the pool.

This was a major problem

The chicks of course could not fly, and were each about the size of a baseball. Therefor they had no way of getting out of the pool. And we definitely didnt want them in long cause of the chemicals in the pool. So the family rushed down to the pool, and started to figure out how to get them out.

First we scared mommy duck out of the pool, and used our scooper to get the chicks out. Took forever cause we could only get a few at a time, and they kept jumping back in. Eventually, they were all out and in the nearby bush.

Then maybe a half hour or so later, they were all back in the pool! So mom and I went out, and this time we had it down to a science. Mommy duck wasnt in the pool (guess she knew better). So mom and I worked with the scooper to get them all out. I actually managed to get like 5 of them in one scoop. This time mother duck was running off, and we shooed the chicks in her general direction (her quacking took care of the rest). And they left. They havent returned to the pool. I biked down to the pond, and didnt see them, but theres a lot of brush, so they were probably in the nest.

Not sure what bird this is so if anyone knows please educate me. Anyway, a pair of these made a nest on top of a baseball field light high above a local playground. It took a lot of time and patience to get this shot... it (don't know if it's the he or the she of the pair) was obviously scouting for a meal. The Immigrants have come ashore. The non-migrant bird population has grown explosively in New Jersey. Parks, lakes golf courses and any open area that has lawns maintained are overrun. The parks near where I live are over run and paved paths and baseball fields are littered with their leavings - joggers, bikes, players and strollers beware.

This bird was flying over the game somewhat later. I think it was giving commentary about the game. Perhaps, it could be their equivalent of commentators in a blimp. I didn't see any advertising, though. I was surprised how the wings looked almost luminous, and there was enough detail to see the beak. These are the best photos I've ever got of birds in flight.

A couple of my guy friends and I were out in the baseball area taking pictures for our class project and while I was wandering around they found four birds stuck in the practice area. We don't know how the hell they got in there but they did so after I took the picture we freed them.. most of them.
