I thought now would be a good time to make the calendar available to the public since they were shipped out to me yesterday! After the successful trial run of last year's calendar, I wanted to make an even better cosplay calendar for 2014!

To summarize: The 2014 Limited Edition Yaya Han Calendar features 12 months of new cosplay images printed on glossy 11x17 paper, which flips open to a 11x24 calendar. Out of the 12 monthly images, only 2 have been released before, all others are brand new and shot exclusively for the calendar. None of the images will be available as a print or poster, you will only be able to see them in the calendar.

Repainting a doll is a hard work, and I don't usually keep most of the original character's features because I'm not painting a new version of those characters, I'm changing the doll's face and personality completely to make them unique and different. I mean, to me it would be a waste of time and effort to work hard in a repaint if I'm going to do exactly the same painting the doll already had, at least when it's about a personal repainting and not a commission.

She was the first MH doll I had, and seeing the improvement in my last repaints I decided to paint her again to see the difference with the previous one. I remember how scared I was when I decided to remove her factory makeup and start with my first repaints, and I felt so disappointed with the result, but it definitelly worth it when I did this and I compared.

At first I was going to paint her cute, but Spectra's face is really apropiated for regal and angry expressions and my character Violet is totally like that, also I read some comments asking me for different expressions, so in the end I decided to paint her like an altive princess. I also tried to make her look kinda sweet at the same time, like someone who is always acting like a diva but has a sweet side in the deep, I don't know if you get what I mean.
I really love how the eyes and eyebrows came out, it was a real challenge!
Also she won't be for sale, but I'm thinking about repaint another spectra and sell her on etsy

The 3rd gen Ileman-Loch Tromos Impactra (Tromos; Greek for Terrible so a hodgepodge naming of Terrible Impact)was a hard hitting medium multi-role combat FOIL. This Vulne Consortium forces (Polemon forces opposing Indus) example is occupying a sniping role. The FOIL is carrying a high velocity shettier using anti-FOIL SABOT rounds. Considering the size of a combat FOIL (they can range from 45 to 55 feet high depending) this rifle is essentially a long range cannon with devastating power. This FOIL crew's role is long to medium range target acquisition (for straight infantry they would be equipped with close range shetteir weapons) so they are using targeting and ranging sendai drones. The drones, amusingly named Nick and Nack by the pilot, would assist in a wide range of combat data assessment but their primary job would be target acquisition assistance and windage/ranging data. The pilot, or even possibly the Faedai (sendai control entity that is the biological consciousness of the FOIL) have added various personalizations on the rifle. There are kill markers and a rather direct message to their Indus opponents scrawled along the barrel grip. There is also a sun charm bit of jewelry hanging from the barrel of the weapon.

This FOIL has seen combat, off and on, for nearly a century so it's been re-painted, re-outfitted, and re-crewed many times over. Here it's in a mottled jungle/forest camo pattern that it's worn for decades and the wear and tear is becoming evident. The pin-up girl on the right shoulder say's "G' Golly Miss Molly" and was certainly put there by the current human Pilot Glend Anders. The markings are more tribal in vibe and sparse, just as there are minimal TAC markers and identifiers. The Vulne Consortium V (our studio name came from the fictional Vulne Consortium of Polemos) above the 213 TAC number, left shoulder armor, clearly indicates this is a Polemon forces unit though.

I went to town on this guy just beating the hell outta the surface with dirt, grime, rust, dust, chips, etc. As odd as it might sound I find myself in a very zen mode when painting that stuff. More and more I find how I paint these is likely similar-ish to how modelers paint armor, sci-fi kits, etc. Pretty much all of the weathering is done by hand, rust, chips, and so on. Added washes of grime and dirt I use various custom grunge brushes I made myself and a few found on the internet. The markings and pin-up girl (drawn larger and shrunk) were done by hand as well (the TAC numbers and various bits of text are Photoshop fonts of course). The kill markers on the rifle were created by (which he amusingly titled Kill Yar for the file name) originally for the Schnellgail FOIL. This one has layers of dirt and a lot of subtle erasing away (with those custom grunge brushes I made) of the camo and markings in order to sufficiently fade them for more added wear and tear. The lighting is not what I'd call overly dramatic but more soft and slightly overcast dusk so the details of the design remain clear.

A commission for *LoudNoises .

I was delighted to get to do a commission featuring MiSha. The client requested MiSha in a USA flag bikini and a fireworks rocket in her cleavage. I immediately imagined MiSha placing the rocket between her boobs and mischievously going 'ta-dah! launch pad!' (or similar). And that's what I... err... she did! Night-time beach with fireworks show as background, as per client's request.

(I'm sure MiSha isn't that crazy to actually shoot the rocket from there. Would be a shame to get burns on some of her best features. )

Hmm, bikini picture. I don't think this needs a mature content tag. Do you?

She lives in this neat gypsy wagon thing, and her main companion is some sort of creature capable of pulling it. She's half-human, half-fae (hence her musical talent), and not everyone is okay with that, because I'm going with the old folk-beliefs that fairies are not at all nice and actually extremely dangerous creatures that will kidnap you or make you dance until you die or something. So that is an aspect of her heritage that she tries to hide.

Here is the Standard Pistol (Called the "Guardian" in the game [link] and the Burst Rifle (Called the "Daybreaker" in the game [link]. Both are for Insomniac's new game FUSE. The pistol was modified a little before it went into the game (for the better). The turn around on the "Daybreaker" was rather quick so you can still seem some of the photo-bashing that went into it. Not clear in this side drawing, but the "Silencer/barrel extension" is shaped like a grip to match the two handed grip of the character rigs.

I'd also like to point out that this is for a video game and though I do appreciate "real world" functionality feedback, the ONLY thing we're concerned about is how a weapon looks like in the game, and that it matches the gameplay functionality. I cannot stress this enough, it wasn't my project, it wasn't my design requirements. Also these are over 2 years old now.

Model, Dodger of Sparks: Shauntia Veney [link]

Just outside the right edge of the frame (and not too far away from Shauntia) is a man operating a plasma welding torch. He was wearing a welding mask, which meant he could not see Shauntia while he was sending a zillion sparks her way. When we were ready to shoot, he had to aim it in the right direction (just behind her), flip the mask down, fire-up the torch...and do his best not to change the angle of his aim.

You can see just how close the sparks landed from her, if you look at the floor under her feet. Add that, plus her hair, and the more-than-flammable poofy skirt, and you have yourself an ignite-ably-good time.

Scary, but worth-it

The woman is certainly no sissy.
