PS: Her name is Ayus ( pronounced like 'ayush' ) While I was with my friends for photography, we met her. She was slowly walking, children surrounded her. She is over 100, but no one knows her real age or her story. Most people love her, but i was so upset when seeing some people mad fun of her. But Ayus, you are beautiful, no matter what they say...

Esta fotografía fue tomada en el estudio de fotografía, de mí entonces maestro, Enrique Botello, Ensenada, Baja California, México. Fue por aquellos días en los que aún me daba miedo tomar una réflex entre mis manos, y eso que era análoga, entre agosto y diciembre del 2008. No fue una foto pensada pero salió de maravilla, lo mejor fue revelar el negativo. Me agrada la expresión de la mujer que era mi compañera de fotografía en aquellos tiempos. Espero les guste.

This photography was taken in the study of photography, of me teacher of that time, Enrique Botello, Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico. It was those days in which I was still scared to take a reflex between my hands, and that that was similar, between August and December, 2008. It was not a thought-out photo but it went out of marvel, the best thing was to reveal the negative. I like the expression of the woman who was my partner of photography in those times. I hope that you like it.

This really old woman was just sitting on a bamboo bed outside her house she was trying to talk to up but we couldn't understand her unfortunately.

One thing that we did while we were in the slums is basic first aid and sanitary needs. One thing that is not too uncommon in Thailand is worms. We clipped the fingernails of all of the children and anyone who wanted it because in the things that they might handle they might get the worm eggs in their fingernails and then eat with their fingers or bite their fingernails and get worms. Because they don't have much money they might not be able to get medication for this and might even die from something so simple and curable.

A group of people go to the slums everyday, a different slum each day, with rice and milk for the kids. There are six slums that they go to each week in Pattaya.

A close up shot. I'm known for Supergirl so this is different for me! I had the materials to make the costume though so I decided to give it a try since I love her, and I had a fun time.

For construction I covered an old bustier with red fabric and created the metal parts with a material called chroma-lux mirri sheets and foamies for backing to make it nice and sturdy. It's held up quite well that way.

At the end of the first shoot I did with Stephane, he asked me what I wanted to do as a pose, whatever it was. I already told him I liked Joel-Peter Witkin a lot and I wanted to do something that would look like his work. I arched my back at 90 degrees and asked Stephane if we could take a picture where I seemed to have no legs, a bit like a freak show portrait. That's what we did. The picture is exactly like I wanted it to be.

The picture is not photoshoped. Texture and colours had been added during the development of the film and it was added to fit to Stephane's texturized serie. I think they add to the feeling that it is a very old picture we could have found in an abandonned circus where once there were freak shows.

Long story short my classmates in college knew of my cosplaying lifestyle and wanted to see me wear a costume at my School's "Superhero contest" that was held in October. I first saw these photgraphs about a year ago at my great aunts place. She had them for well over 50 years. Though i dont have the photographers permition (he is probably dead), i do have her permition. I did NOT take them, but i value them very much. They are a part of my familly's history, and i expect you to look at their beauty. That is why i decided to place them here. Stage 2 of the Caged Woman dark fairy tale.

A rich bachelor has everything he needs in life handed to him on a silver platter but because of this no woman is deemed good enough for him and his high standards. One day his servant gives him a beautiful white bird in hopes that he will turn his affection to the bird and eventually towards a woman. The bachelor takes such a liking to the bird that he forgets all else and dotes on the bird constantly, giving it a huge gilded cage to live in, the finest foods, has it listen to the finest music, and wraps the cage in the finest silks when it becomes dark. The bird falls in love with the man and wishes to become a woman so she can return his good deeds and make him a most caring and devoted wife. Her wish is granted and she turns into the most enchanting woman the bachelor has ever seen. He courts her for a short time only to be stolen away by another woman. This other woman is just a greedy, power hungry vixen who does not care for the bachelor. One day the bachelor decides it is in the best interest of his estate to marry the ill willed woman instead of the beautiful loving woman because she has become boring to him and this new woman wants and needs nothing other than to simply exist in life’s luxury. In her despair, the beauty reverts halfway back to her old bird self and places her gilded cage back on over her head – only to live in a deserted area of the land where she will never find love again.

When I've painted a woman's bottom so that I want to touch it, then the painting is finished. Pierre Auguste Renoir

Say what you will about Renoir, I think he was one of the greatest painters of the last 200 years. Halfway through his professional career, he had an artistic crisis. After reaching fame and notoriety with his Impressionistic brushwork, he began to question if he could actually draw or paint at all. He shifted gears and adopted a more classical method of rendering. Eventually he drifted back into a style that was a synthesis between his earlier Impressionism and this classical style. The nude became his dominant subject. Often he hired the maids and staff of his household to pose for him. This irritated his wife since she was then forced to find new employees for the house.

One of the few good things to come out of my time student teaching was finding a small book of Renoir's nudes. It was in the art classroom with the textbooks. My mentor said I could keep it after she realized every reproduction was a nude. I still have it on my bookshelf in my studio.

London Andrews is a real beauty. I'm sure her and Renoir would have made some beautiful art together.
