I have a funny relationship with Ghibli movies... I look at the box or hear about them and I always think "ehh.... this is going to be dull/stupid... I don't want to see it." Then I watch the movie and I really enjoy it. I put off watching it for a long time, and then when I finally did see it I wondered WHY I had put off watching it for so long XD

So many people love my grandmother cosplay, I am even envy xDDD
Also many of you asks why Sophie doesn't have Howl. Ok, she have.
Ahaha, originally I made both costumes all by myself, and only in 1 week. The hardest part was
Howl's coat (or how can I call this thing?), when I sewed together all that rhombs,
I thought my head will explode X_X I am not a seamstress and don’t visit manual training at school (I’ve draw and write for school newspaper, lol), so I really hate to sew costumes. But I think that the only way to have costume that have good quality and look a proper way – it is made it by yourself…
Ok. Main part of this picture, that I am a cosplayer here, not a photographer xD

My cosplay of Howl from Howl's Moving Castle at Alcon 2011. This con was an absolute blast! But I'll save all of that for a journal at a later date. For now we're just winding down and laughing our asses off (two things that more or less cancel each other out).

I like the way this cosplay turned out. It was rather rushed but I tried something new (for me, not for others I'm sure XD) and tried using an embroidery stitch around the diamond shapes on the jacket. It turned out pretty ok in my opinion Still lots to improve on, but it's a personal achievement for me!

I recently looked through the folder of this cosplay again and still find many beautiful pictures that can be shared. So I made this collage :3 I love Howl's Moving Castle so much, I read the book many times and rewatched Miyazaki's version many times too, it never bores with each repeat, that's quite the magic in it already isnt it.

What comes more after it is to be part of this meaningful project to raise relief funds for the disaster in Japan. Click on link if you want to know more: [link] ALL proceeds will go to the Red Cross in Japan, and of course, you could always donate directly, is all for a good purpose at the end

Howl's Moving Castle or who the hell doesn't love Miyzaki movies? I can attest to having had my small anime-crush on Howl back when the movie came out. So flamboyant, self-absorbed and childish, yet so... well... nice.Genuinely nice in his childish way.
Anyways, we decided to go back to that and do a Howl cosplay. The place we shot it was magnificent but so freaking cold We froze our asses off with that wind. We're almost always extremely unlucky with weather during photo shoots. Oh well.

Btw, if you have never read the book Howl's Moving Castle that the anime is based on, you missing out on something! It's a really great one and can totally compare to its famous adaptation.

P.S. The photos were taken in a tiny German village. I love my country. It's BEAUTIFUL!

personally, I prefer the dark version of Howl much more than the blonde coward. puting away the vanity, Howl turned to be a more brave magician, and determined to protect his beloved.

we got some black and blue feathers and they just look fabulous under the sun~it seems quite warm however i couldn't help shaking with coldness...

While the HMC shoot I did with my Sophie a while back was really limited by the pouring rain on the day (;__; ) my Sophie did manage to take some lovely shots for me indoors~

I thought these looked somewhat like Howl researching the best magical peroxide formula for his hair

While the blonde Howl is very pretty, I would very much like to cos the black haired version too, as his character becomes so much stronger and less annoyingly vain and useless ;A; Hopefully we can reshoot these versions too though, in the sunshine this time!

I´m pretty much in love with all the Ghibli Movies~
and I was SO HAPPY to finally cosplay it!
Howl´s Moving Castle is a fabulous book~ *^*
I wasn´t sure how my cosplay would turn out, as I wasn´t all that sure about the dress, but in the end it was made in ca 6h! °<°

Sophie has the green, blue and the yewllow dress... but I liked the blue dress the most and decided to do the short-haired version of her.

I don't know where to start about my RAGING HAPPINESS & gratitude inside me. I have finally done this shoot. 4-5 years after wearing the costume. In a beautiful location, with insanely wonderful friends as cast & crew.

THANK YOU FOREVER my beautiful cute little Sophie-san *Cvy, ~Koshinaka and ~Lennethxvii for staying behind the camera, being reflector-chan & basically being so awesome the whole time right after we arrive.

I think I can die a happy person now.
