This is apple or pear blossom, I always thought the blue sky would make the perfect background. But this looks really pretty too. It's a clouded sky, and as I took the shot I noticed that the camera was making it darker, so I added extra light, I guess it made the clouds look like a white blanket. I was really surprised with the outcome of the shot. Used lightroom to take out shades!
Took the shot nearby Maasbracht, the Netherlands.

But I actually had INTENSTY in my eyes. Tyra taught me to SMIZE. xD
Also those contacts are huge! They are my first pair from Pinky Paradise so that was exciting.

They are the cloud nine blue in case anyone may be interested. I did lighten them a bit for the photo but they show up pretty nicely.

But yes! Zelda. Seriously my dream cosplay and dream character as a little girl. So happy to have been her at con. I don't have a very pointy face so pulling of the "elf" look is very hard for me. ;~;

Here is the story :

Second Aurora Chase ! "Øvre Vollvatnet"

The Norhtern Ligts was awesome this night !
Where should i start ? Let`s start with the week.
There had bin some solar winds striking our magnetic field making the auroras go crazy ! We had have bad weather and overcast with snow and rain every day. So I haven`t had the possibility to see the lights show

Then it was one of the large sunspots on the sun which regain some life again, and a CME was sent allmost directly our way, yea it was heading for earth !

So this night, the CME expected to arrive would boost the aurora activity, could specially give a boost to the higher latitudes. And I live in Bodø, at the 68*

The CME impacted between 17:00 and 18:00

I looked at the space data and news the whole afternoon and evening.

At around 19:00 the acitivity jumped ! The solar wind increased to allmost 460 km/s and a density of 13,4 protons cm/3 !
Around 19:30 i was getting dressed up and checked gear !
A battery had delayed me a bit, I was waiting for it to recharge. It was done recharging to

19:54 I left home, to drive to a parking spot at "turisthytta" a top where i have shot a lot of aurora pictures. Now i was interested in a new scene

It was the water "Øvre Vollvatnet" it`s a 10 minute drive and 5 minute walk ^^

When i arrived it was clouds everywhere, allmost no stars

I have waited for clouds before, last time was 3 hours back in March in 2012 as a X flare was going to strike our earth, and I got my pictures

So with that in mind i kept waiting where i was.
Allmost an half an hour later the clouds left, and stars and clear sky was there ! So i left the car, checked my gear and walked up to the water. Just to see that there was some few clouds there and some strange looooong weak line of lights.
So it was time to wait again

A test shot proved it was a line at 21:12, it was ALIVE

the line of lights, yea the Northern Lights separated just above the horizon into rays and swirls !
And i was just as mind-blown away some seconds before i re-engaged and got my camera gear in place and ready !

So from 19.1, 21:15PM to 20.1, 00:19AM I was running across the ice and photographing the lights like some aurora maniac ^^
The Northern Lights regained it`s activity 6 times ! From blowing up the sky till it died out to some weak lines, and then blowing up the sky with extreme fast moving rays yet again ...6 times !

Well the evening/night resulted in a good experience and 370 pictures

The remains of the solar wind that struck our magnetic field between the 25th/26th still gave me some awesome Northern Lights show yesterday evening !

I had no plans about going out, but suddenly there was a lead prediction for a active show in 50 minutes (KP5) ! The weather was forcasted to be cloudy and snowing, but none of that weather had yet happend ! I had a clear sky filled with stars and bright light from the fullmoon !
So i checked my gear, got dressed up and went out again !

Just stepped out of the door i could see a weak long line of lights from east to west

I started driving the usual road, and thought that i wanted to go to the northern side of town, the local palces Mjelle and Festvag.
When i got to Løpsmarka where you can see the Landegode Island it was surronded with weak lines, so i parked at the parking spot there where i have shot a lot of pictures before and did some again !

But I told myself about the lead prediction and i wanted to get some better pictures of the landscape at Mjelle ! so I kept on driving !
Second stop was at Mjelle, did some few pictures there from a top. It was new powder snow everywhere, that reached me up above my knees !

The only bad thing was that i couldn`t see the hard ice below the snow, so I fell over a couple of times there !
But no problems with my camera gear !
Having bin around Mjelle for allmost a half hour the lights had not kicked in yet

So i started checking predictions, and it was still ment to be active lights. So i drove to the original planned destination. When I arrived at my third parking spot I walked up on a top beside the road. From there i had a clear view to Valviktinden and Steigtind peak, surronded with a great landscape covered in snow !
The Lights where still just weak lines arround me, 3 or 4 lines. I shot some pictures with different settings to find a good exposure for the snow and if the lights where going to be extreme !

After 15 minutes of waiting there, suddenly to the west of the peak Steigtind a line filled with 5,6 rays with good distance between each of them started to lit up and move quite fast ! I pointed the camera at them and started firing away some pictures !
In no time and from nowhere as usual with this awesome phenomen it lit up the whole place with strong, intense, vibrant and fast moving Northern Lights ! I got pictures of the Valviktinden peak as i wanted, even got some new of Steigtind peak ! This was the prediction it was only 15,20 minutes later then predicted. I was at the right place to the right time with my patient for capturing a new set of good pictures, which i got !

I had my 3 hours of photographing the lights this evening again, the weather was all clear, the fullmoon gave bright light and life to the winterlandscape where the snow reflected some light !
I saw the clouds waiting at the coast. When the auroras got weak again, into this massive "aftershow" the clouds started moving in, so i got my open window of clear weather and a great show, the second time in a week !

This photo was taken last year, the black shadow in the front belongs to a crane that was installed while building a new house right in front of the portion of sky where I usually take my cloud and sunset shots. I was so mad at first, but I guess that this one photo repaid it.

The title of this piece reflects the Ansel Adams piece of the same name. The image was taken from the same spot as the Ansel Adams photo (Tunnel View). While the weather I experienced was nowhere near as dramatic as it was in that famous photo, I did experience a freak winter storm on the way up the mountain that day. And from what I understand, the park was also hit by this late season winter storm that appeared pretty much out of nowhere.

By the time I finally reached Tunnel View, all that was left of the storm were a few clouds off in the distance such as the cloud seen here and the few small cloud wisps coming off the top of the mountains. Disappointed that the weather and light would not be more dynamic, I waited it out as experience has told me that the light actually falling on the mountains is usually quite nice as the sun sets. In that respect I was not disappointed. ]]>
