The reason pitbulls have a bad reputation is because people abuse them and treat them wrong. They cant trust humans. But if you treat one like a normal dog he can be the sweetest dogs ever.

Abuse Awareness Poster

I made this for to raise awareness of several issues in the hope that something may change for the better. Their fore I am supportive of the reuse and spread of this poster.

First of all I would like to acknowledge that while sexual abuse happens to females more often then males, a large number of males suffer greatly from sexual abuse and the many problems that it causes, as well as the stigma associated with being an abused male. It is often hard for them to find the appropriate support. Support and understanding should be readily available to all victims of this traumatic incident/s.

Secondly many of the "filthy/junkie/thieving" kids that live on the streets, live there because they do not have anywhere better to go. Furthermore once living on the streets the opportunities to raise your living standards and make a better life for yourself become more and more limited.

FOSTER CARERS ARE AWESOME! foster carers provide a safe stable and loving environment for people who desperately need just that. It can be a challenge at times but there is support available.

I know that here in Australia we need more foster carers, if you think you could provide safety and love to someone in need, please consider becoming a foster carer.

Hello hello!
I'm back!

This is a project for school,
as you can see,
we're working on the issue child abuse.

While my team was working on contacting authorities
and finding guest speakers,and I was responsible for the
poster and brochure.

I decided to make my own poster
instead of getting an image off of photobucket,
I thought this would be a great oppurtunity to use photoshop!
Geez I love it!
I personally liked this better without the words
but, since I need to let people aware of child abuse
I left it alone.

I think we should all help our youth!
I believe we should make a difference.
All over the world, children are being mentally or physically abused everyday. Scared, beaten, or dead, children all over the world are crying every night. Turning a blind eye or plugging your ears cannot silence the screams nor can it cover all the scars!

I've been inspired for some reason to make stuff that acturally matters. but what ever... I've been doing a little research... so any one who would like to make an update or prove me wrong (don't yell at me, that will get you no where >_<) just let me know via. comment or note.

Child abuse is caused by stress of parents... it's almost like bullying from adults. It effects children all over the world. Many prision inmates, about 80% where abused in there early childhood. Parent's who abuse there children are most likely on drugs, or have been abused them selves. But it's not all the parent's fault, and they need help from a doctor, rehab, or
Little do you know, you may know a child who is abused. They just don't tell any one in fear of being abused worse. A few emotional signs may include:
just being apathetic (not careing)
suffers from depression
often hostile or aggressive

Physical traits:
Bruises or cuts shaped like an object (belt buckle or other house hold objects)
Layers of different colored bruises in the same general area

and once again,.... It shoudn't hurt...To be a kid.

So, April is Child Abuse Awareness Month, and has been asking her friends to draw/write something to spread the awareness.

I chose to focus more on the emotional abuse a child can have due to a nasty divorce. Because I wanted to focus on the symbolism, I didn't shade the picture, just colored it. There ended up being a lot more symbolism in this picture than originally planned, so bear with me.

Alright, So, first of all, we have the gray woman on the far right. She can represent the girlfriend/parent/best friend/whatever-you-want-to-call-it on one of the parents side. This person is firm in what she believes in, she's set in stone in what she believes, thus the reason why she's gray.
However, her ear is only half the size it should be, and she's missing the pupil in her eye to show that she only gets half of the story.

The parents. Each parent is wearing ear plugs and blindfolds, showing that they are oblivious to anything else except for what they believe is their right and what is for their benefit.
The fact that they both eventually turn into trees show that they are firmly rooted that what they say about the divorce is right.
The colors represent two things: anger and having a hard heart. So often, the parents are angry at each other, pointing fingers at one another, while showing no compassion for someone they once loved.
The vines on them represent communication, and the leaves represent each lie, each nasty comment said about each other. The fact that each adult has a leaf of the other spouse shows that they were married.
The mom is placed a little higher than the father, representing custody, and how a parent can have the upper hand on persuading a child against her other parent.

Now, for the little girl. She is wearing white to show that she is still an innocent child, that she has done nothing wrong.
Her eyes are covered, while her mouth is open wide in scream, symbolizing that the child shouldn't just be another item for the parents; that she needs to be heard, not seen.
The bandage on her head represents the emotional/mental trauma a child suffers when the parents divorce.
The girl is wearing ballet slippers, but they are bound with bandages. So often, a childs' hopes and dreams are affected because of the divorce.
Lastly, the vines and leaves that wrap around her show that she is surrounded by her parents lies and harsh words towards the other parent.

I hate it when divorced people put their child in the middle of the situation. It can truly cause emotional and mental damage to the child. Nor is it fair to the child simply because they are not the reason why the parents are now divorced. But because of our stubborn trait, we sometimes unknowingly put the child smack dab in the middle of the battlefield.
Please, protect the children that are going through divorce, that they might not suffer an abuse that is too often over-looked.

Used an H2 graphite pencil, various colored pencils, and a ball point pen.

This was my month for creating a design for a shirt in order to benefit Cambodia. I decided on an elephant because it's something that's very foreign to me to see an elephant walking the streets. However, in Cambodia this is common. The text says Careful Elephant. There are signs all over Cambodia that are set in place in order to be careful of elephants - kind of like how we have deer or duck xing signs here, in America.

This poster is one of the three sequel posters I produced for a HND Graphic Design unit (Cultural Interpretation), based on the International Childrens Rights Day. I thought maybe I could use ABC as fundamental rights for children by using each letter to describe a right on each poster.

There is a Child Abuse Prevention program in Indianapolis and each year they come to my school, Herron School of Art and Design at IUPUI, and pick 3 classes to participate in manipulating a chair provided by the project and then auctioning them a few months later to raise money for the cause. CHAIRish the Children is the program presented by The Villages. This is my chair! It is inspired by a pair of dinosaur pajamas I had when I was younger, and the design was influenced by the movie Monsters, Inc. I wanted something fun, soft, cute and interactive! The furry hoodie is removable and can be worn around so some lucky kid can be a dinosaur too!

I did like 3 smallish posters on this subject as a sort of therapy, a highly personal one for me. This is probably the most personal of the three for me, as the girl in the picture is myself as a child taken by my paternal aunt. The piece was done in photoshop.
