Original Firefly Path Belle Gown

My friend commissioned this gown as a birthday gift for his fiancé (who is also my friend Raiya Corsiglia - Director)! I'm pretty sure this is the most fabric Firefly Path as ever used in a costume, over 50 yards of fabric! When designing this costume I wanted to make a realistic version of the Disney Belle. I used gold fabrics and yellow as an accent color. The motif of roses are repeated throughout the gown in the center of the corset with rose patten brocade to the rose clusters at the edge of the overskirt. When I think of Disney's Belle Gown there are two details that first come to mind.. the ruched skirt and her sleeve swags. I put a twist on these two iconic elements by making a hi-low ruched skirt over a full skirt and made her single swag sleeve into a double swag with a pendent in the middle. <3

Angelina Jolie has currently received quite a bit of attention in the media for her courage in sharing her battle with breast cancer. In light of that, I felt inspired to replicate her yet again in doll form, and again in 11 1/2 inch scale.

Carefully selecting an appropriate sculpt for Mattel, I chose to recreate Jolie to showcase her more current look but still maintaining her distinct features.

Repaint is a new form of pop art, wherein the doll's face is treated like a three dimensional canvas, with the added challenge of painting within a very small area and an even greater challenge of recreating a real person's likeness. Since dolls are basically miniature pieces, brush strokes and shading have to be very controlled and precise.

New Supercrash books have arrived!

So my first order of the English version of Supercrash books have arrived! I'm so excited!

Of course, I will be selling them at Anime North, my next convention which is held this weekend at the Toronto Congress Centre in, well, Toronto. Although they're not hard cover as I'd wish (too expensive), the rest of the comic looks absolutely stunning: it's printed on slightly thicker paper, has perfect-bound binding, and the cover has a subtle anti-scratch protective film, which will make it last longer. In overall looks very professional. It will cost $22 and will come with a custom signature/small drawing, as always!

I also take online orders, although you have to pay the shipping ($7 in Canada, $10 in USA, $18 in the rest of the world. All prices in Canadian dollars). COntact me via Note if you're interested!

Judal/Judar Wig Tutorial

As promised, here's a tutorial on how I made my Judal wig! After learning more about spray/expanding foam, I decided to give it a shot since it would be cost efficient and less messy than shaving down normal Styrofoam balls. This youtube video by Mogrymillian is a great intro to using spray/expanding foam! [link]

I'll also go ahead and post photos from using insulation foam and upholstery foam, though I feel the expanding foam is my favorite so far.

A small twist on a simple concept, I thought instead of a standard 'Gold Fish' we should have one made of water
