The BP Gulf of Mexico oil Spill still gushing 4,200,000 US gallons of crude oil every day even after 40 days since the initial explosion on April 20th. The environmental disaster is astronomical, with over 4,000 species of birds and marine life in danger. Countless dead birds, fish, turtles, and other animals already been found on the shores covered in oil.

We can not let this incident go forgotten. So many oil spills in the past have occurred, so why are we making the same mistakes over and over again? (Read my journals for more details [link] [link]

It can be an animal thats affected by the oil spill like the egret in my drawing above or a sea turtle like one in the journal. 2. Post this on your dA account with a description of oil spill in the artists comment. Remember this contest is about spreading awareness and keeping it in our memories so a detailed description is very important!

I'm not going to go into a long rant about BP or Oil companies in general, but I do want to talk a little bit about how this tragedy affects some animals that people usually don't care about or give a second thought to.

I hear people talk about dolphins, manatees, various birds, fish and turtles. I'm not discounting their importance - they are living creatures and we've sullied their habitat because of greed. But what about other, less popular, creatures who are also affected by this tragedy? They're just as important and have just as much right to a clean environment as a dolphin or a heron does.

I love snakes. The gulf of Mexico is home to several species of snakes and while a number of them spend their lives on land there are others who spend most of their lives in and around large bodies of water. They hunt, mate and give birth to new generations in those waters. Most of them aren't even Poisonous! And even the ones that are should not be feared, but respected. The only way they would lash out at you would be in retaliation of the threat you pose against them.

Another family of creatures I feel needs to be mentioned as well are Sharks. Quite a few species make their home in the Gulf of Mexico. Shark populations have been dwindling in recent years because of poaching and long-line fishing, but people don't seem to care. Sharks are predators yes, but we are not their prey. Very few attack people without provocation and the paranoia concerning them is extremely overblown. They too have a right to live.

Please remember those we often forget.

This is actually my second incarnation of this idea. I had another one in-progess when I when I went on vacation and when I got back I couldn't find it. So I decided to start anew. (I still haven't found it btw. I think I may have accidentally thrown it out when I was cleaning )

My other one was heavy with ink and I was going to contrast the black with brighter digital colours. I decided to forgo the ink this time and take another crack at digital painting. I was told this was, like my Leshii, dark and I get the feeling that's becoming a part of my signature. I just don't do, bright, vivid colours well

Well, where do I start? How about the picture itself? (which I'll upload later) It's the pretty white sand of West Beach, Gulf Shores, Alabama on May 29, 2010. This was my first visit to Gulf Shores, even though I live a mere 6 hours away in North East Alabama. I was lucky enough to have the chance to see those beautiful beaches before they were hit with the ugly tar balls; oil residue; and the general oily smell that took over the sea breezes we used to love. I believe it was June 4th, 2010 when the oil disaster finally hit us Alabamians.

Now, well, now those gorgeous beaches are covered in the evils of the BP oil spill, with barely anyone 'official' trying to clean it up. Yeah, the so called President showed up, made nice with the locals, and left, along with the official "cleaners" No, I'm not going to rant and rave about how two faced our government is (much.) I'm just going to ask that everyone do their damndest to show the government and all those in-command that we don't need their policies and promises. We as a people can help in many different ways [link] no matter our age or location or position in the world. Please don't turn a blind eye to this disaster.

Please be the one who at least tried to make a difference. Not the one who cried over spilt oil and did nothing to stop it from ruining OUR world.

As I’m sure you’re all aware, on April 20th, 2010, a BP oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico exploded. It’ s still unsure how exactly it has happened, and it’s still unsure how much oil is dumping into the ocean. A cap has been put on leak. It is estimated that it captures about 630,000 gallons a day, but that’s not even half of what is predicted is leaking out. BP has predicted that they won’t be able to stop the oil from leaking into the gulf until August and cleaning up washed up oil could take months. Many animals, businesses, and lives are highly affected by this environmental disaster.

So what does this piece mean?

Well, first of all I was inspired to make a piece like this because *yuumei is holding a contest, and honestly, I just wanted to raise awareness and give out some information. The idea was pretty instant, and after days of work this is what I came up with (although the photo really did no justice to it).

The girl represents the human side of this. Families in the gulf have been really affected by this disaster. Many fishing companies are ruined, and that has ruined family traditions. Tourism is also affected which is very important to some states such as Florida. Her hair represents the oil spill itself. As the oil sits on top of water, it changes into an eerie red color. Being around it is a health hazard, and it has been said that it makes it hard to breath and causes people to become dizzy. This makes clean up hard because one can’t be exposed it to it for too long. Burning the oil as it first comes out has been helping, but when it mixes too much with water it becomes impossible to burn it.

The turtle tangled in her hair represents the animals harmed in the spill. It’s black because I wanted to represent death. I’m aware that many animals such as egrets, dolphins, pelicans, crabs, tuna and many more have been harmed and most of the animals mentioned will make the endangered species list. Sea turtles are also very affected, and that is what got to me more than anything. There are seven species of species of sea turtles in the world; five of them are in the gulf. Like numerous other animals that are affected, it’s mating season for sea turtles, and the spill will take a major toll. Sea turtles are also majorly affected because they are surface feeders, and so they directly ingest the oil. I recently found an article about a relief hospital for sea turtles, and you can read more about it here.

Going back to the girl, her green eyes represent BP. Green after all, is the color of greed. BP is a British owned company with holdings in America. After the spill, many corruptions were found in the company. The oil rig that was in the gulf was declared unsafe and was reported that it had many problems. Even when these reports were given out, the company did nothing about it. BP has taken action since the explosion to stop the leak and cleaning up the mess. However, it is still not enough. For more information on the company, please take a look at their website.

Her dress represents the cap that has been put on the leak. BP says it has been a “success,” however it is only catching half of what is dumping into the ocean as mentioned before. I’ve been watching the cap carefully since it’s been put on (and put on again after a robot knocked it off), and I’ve noticed it’s becoming very dirty. Originally it was white, but now it’s getting black and grimy. Hence, why the dress is so dirty and has that odd shape. You can actually watch the cap and the leak live here.

So now what? In all honesty, I’m not really sure. The relief wells are way ahead of schedule, but even so, I don’t think that will be enough. So much has been ruined from this, and now they’re watching for a possible hurricane forming the gulf. What will happen then? It can’t be good. Im sure most of you know about BPs (British Petroleum) Gulf of Mexico oil spill (aka Deepwater Horizon oil spill) by now. USA and NATO are only real oppressors nowadays. They can invade any country, bomb its citizens and drown it's government in lies for sheer fact that rulers of this country don't lick their fat democratiac asses.
Good or bad, Gaddafi dared to be independent. But his fatal mistake was that he didn't pay enough attention to his army. Even if there were good citizens, loyal to him to the end, they weren't match for NATO forces, who cowardly dropped bombs on peaceful Libyan people. This democratiac scum has no balls to attack opponent who is strong enough to strike back. But, surprisingly, Colonel didn't want to give up easily. For nearly eight months, true patriots of Libya - not bands of traitor scum, whom NATO created to be cannon fodder and named "rebels" - defended their country with steel in hands, and thus resistance of Libyan people under command of Gaddafi became great example of how nation should defend its country, as well as how leader should act when his country is torn apart by traitor bands and foreign invaders.
Though I have something against Muslims in general, I can't help but sympathize Colonel. He knew he will be murdered by dogs of world's greatest tyranny, but he refused to give up. His stalwart resistance and ultimate death made him a martyr not for Muslims, but, in fact, for all the free world. That's why it is important for modern spawns of Goebbels to drown his name in sea of lies. I can't remember when NATO propaganda machine was telling as much lies as they did since Libyan war started. Betrayers, rapists and marauders became "rebels" and "freedom fighters", Libyan people NATO forces slaughtered became 'victims of Gaddafi's regime", Libyan national funds - "Gaddafi's personal money he stolen from his people", and Colonel himself, leader his nation obviously appreciated, became "blood-hungry tyrant". Never, even in times of Cold War, Western demagogues said so much lies.
I don't say Gaddafi was perfect ruler. But he was in all aspects better than the scum that pretends to be Libya's new government. If you didn't know, Libyan people had cheap fuel and free medicine for all, and overall Libya was one of richest African countries. What now? It's ravaged, its people are doomed to live in poverty or migrate to West, and, of course, there will no more be free medicine. Rule of capitalism is simple - everyone must pay for everything you can force them to pay. And, please, don't forget about Islam radicals. Gaddafi, being Muslim, was rather civilized and rational, while exactly ones who opposed him are radical Islamists. Expect the civil war that will ultimately destroy Libya.
Now, Libya is finished. Next one will be Syria. Whom will they invade after that? If only it wasn't Belarus...

5 days ago, something terrible happened in Newtown, Connecticut, and there is nothing more terrifying than to see children put in harm's way. This tragedy not only shook this country to its very foundation, but even the rest of the world has expressed their condolences and their sorrow to the victims of Sandy Hooks, and their relatives in Newtown. If the world of Equestria is real, and they were to hear of something as ghoulish as Sandy Hooks to have occurred, I would like to hear that they not only had a candlelight vigil for our little angels, but they stopped for a minute or two to observe a moment of silence for the 27 students and teachers that lost their lives that fateful day.
In this picture, I drew the mane six in a candlelight vigil as they say a prayer for the victims and that if it makes a difference, the citizens of Newtown are not alone in their grieve and that tonight, the six friends and their little aide will say a prayer for the victims of Sandy Hooks, and every other person that was killed due to unnecessary violence throughout the nation. I know I didn't include Virginia Tech in the picture, and I apoligize, but there wasn't enough room, however I did include Virginia Tech and the mane six will say a prayer for the 32 victims that lost their lives 5 years ago. Even in a world of friendship and love there is also sadness, and if one of the mane six were to lose their lives, the remaining 5 would be devastated, and the path to recovery would be a long one, but they know that together with comfort and caring, they would eventually become whole again, and never stop loving who they lost, nor never forget. It is the same with the victims and their relatives, so if anyone who ever had or felt the same experiences of violence and pain for no apparent reason, the mane six will be saying a prayer for you tonight, they love you with all of their hearts, and they will comfort you and be there even in your darkest hours, and if they were to be standing in front of you, they would give you a big hug and a big kiss and tell you that its going to be all right, and you'll have nothing to worry about anymore, because there is something more powerful than magic, and that is love.

This is for 's bp oil spill awareness contest. It really hurts me to see those poor creatures dying and dead and how brutal it was in the enviroment when I saw the
news and articles about it. T_T To be honest I cried while I was doing this because of what's been going on with the oil
spill in the Gulf Of Mexico. It's true, it really got to me because I honestly felt emotionally touched when I was doing this
last night. Dolphins are my most favorite sea animals in the world. And I don't tolerate on not caring or proving false to
spread the awareness.
Hope will not lead to disappointment so don't give up. Here we see a girl praying for help when the dolphin is lying on
the shore. It's not dead, but it's trying to survive while it wait for it to be rescued.

A summary of events Tuesday, June 29, Day 70 of the BPs (British Petroleum) Gulf of Mexico oil spill (aka Deepwater Horizon oil spill) by now. The offshore oil drilling
rig exploded on April 20th, well over a month ago, and yet it is still spilling at around 800,000 to 4,200,000 US gallons of crude oil every day. What's even more shocking is
the amount of corruption that led to the spill and delay in clean up. Gulf of Mexico oil spill that began with the April 20 explosion and fire on the drilling rig Deepwater Horizon,
owned by Transocean Ltd. and leased by BP PLC, which is in charge of cleanup and containment. The blast killed 11 workers. Since then, oil has been pouring into the Gulf from a blown-out
undersea well.
Oil have already washed up on the shores of several islands and killed many birds, turtles, and fish, endangering over 4,000 species of birds and marine life.

Twenty-nine families have been hoping, praying, waiting to hear good news and now they've heard the most terrible news of the 2nd mine explosion.

29 miners trapped in the Pike River coal mine New Zealand after an explosion on the 19th of November 2010. Rescue could not be undertaken as the gas levels were high and trying their best to get in with robots, but on the 24th November 2010 a 2nd explosion made it extremely unlikely that any of the miners were still alive, as the magnitude of the second explosion and the high levels of toxic gases were too great for anyone to be able to survive.
There was a total of 5 explosions.

My thoughts are with the Family's and my Country.

What it is
BP (British Petroleum)'s oil drilling rig exploded on April 20th allowing millions of gallons of oil to leak into the Gulf of Mexico. Even now, up to 4,200,000 gallons of oil continue to spill per day. After the explosion occurred, BP believed and stated that no oil had been spilled. This is the largest offshore spill in American history. To get a good idea of how big it is go to this website -[link] It shows you what it would look like if the spill happened in you're backyard and how far it would have spread. The results may surprise you.
What You can do to Help
1. Boycott BP! That's pretty easy. See a list of their brands here- [link] Just don't buy any of them!
2. Weirdly enough, your hair can help the spill. Just go get a haircut and ask the people at your salon to donate it to the spill. Your hair will be used to help soak up the oil.
3. Buy some Dawn dish soap. They donate $1 for every bottle you buy.
4. Spread the word. While many people know about the spill, they might not be aware of ways they can help.

This is the first time Ive ever made one of these, so bear with me please. Lots of Techno will be involved here, along with a few non-electronic ditties that seemed to fit. Anyway, the music:

This was the ideal start for a Lightwaves FST, I felt its basically a musical snapshot of life inside the three circles. The soft refrain of the song brings to mind the supposed happiness/safeness of life in Varuna, while the rap lyrics describe the true state of things, especially in the outer circle, with an accuracy thats almost uncanny. Add in the electronic effects and can anyone else see Hanna looking out at the city to this song?

This song is one of the songs that always begin to play inside my head when I read action scenes in Lightwaves. The chaotic, energetic, wonderful meshing of beats and lyrics seems to fit the semi-grungy tacked-together nature of the Resistance and how theyd probably fight. Plus, if you listen to the lyrics of the individual songs you can match them to Hanna, Eli, and Veser without too much trouble.

Another kickass piece of music that fits in perfectly with fight scenes. Not only should this song have been on the Tron soundtrack, it should be in the Lightwaves soundtrack it has that vibe of all-encompassing technology, with an overpowering hook that seems to suck you into the hivemind that the citizens of Varuna live in. Also its She. She is awesome, is She not?

Even if you wanted to stand out, nobody would really notice you and the Ahimsa would come and take you away before you ever really made a difference. Such is life in the middle and inner circles. Personally, I can picture Eli going through the motions of another day to this song.

No pun intended, but this is Tonis song; this song seems like something shed sing as a protest song. It also fits that period of her life where she tried to smother her werewolf-ness. The lyrics towards the end of the song bring to mind the scene from her interlude where she runs from the Ahimsa.
